If it is indeed in place that is just pathetic.

“Is it fun?”

The answer is a resounding NO!!

I have been harping on this since release. And I am not even going to compare Ranger to any other class except the other two Adventurer classes, Thieves and Engineers. And compared to both of those the Ranger is very, very sub par in the movement department.

Signet of the hunt needs to be move to 20%, especially considering that signets active skill is almost completely worthless.

Which scholar class choice?

I would suggest Necro, played correctly and with all the bug fixes they will be getting they can really play havoc on zergs.

I may just be paranoid, but I spend A LOT of time in Wv3. The last two nights the loot and BOH drops have fallen off considerably.

Last night I had at least 10 different fights either 1v1 or 1v2 that I won and no bag whatsoever dropped?!?!

I should have at least had 30-40% more BOH’s than I had at the end of last night.

Please for the love of… Please tell me this anti-farm code is not in Wv3 also.

I am sure they are doing something for the Ranger. Either those other bugs were considered higher priority, or the ones they prioritised for the Ranger are taking longer than originally expected. You may be surprised how many hours it takes to take a bug-fix from the client’s initial report to the final patch. It involves a lot of people and a lot of work for every single bug.

You obviously have never played GW1, where most rangers waited years to even be glanced at.

It is one of the reasons I tried my best to stay away from this profession in GW2…

Please provide more clarity on gem purchase...

As I said there are people on this board that will list every squirrely way we can get movement speed and claim the class is fine.

Signet of the hunt 10% movement speed is not great compare to Engineer and Thief.

I have been saying since release that the class just feels unfinished. And I have been stating we are very lacking in movement speed options compared to the other adventure profs. Their are people on this board that will list all the squirrelly ways you can increase distance, but the reality is the other two Adventurer Profs totally outclass us with 33% and 25% permanent movement speed.

Signet of the hunt should be 20% movement speed considering the secondary effect is pretty bland also.

Quickshot is OK but it is buggy sometimes rooting you in place for a second when landing.

Pretty sad when I see a lot of Rangers using Rampage as One mostly for the movement speed bonus.

I want to play a skirmishing type class, and movement speed is premium in that regard.

I think Anet wants us to be a Turret though.

I realize you want to siphon every last copper out of the market. But not having a way to trade at all when the TP is down is a serious oversight. People aren’t just going nuts here they are going nuts in game also.

No, Just move the jump to the first attack in the skill chain, which effectively gives 1H Sword a much needed gap closing initiator

Some ranger weapon skills . . . kinda boring?

I would wholeheartedly support pounce being moved to the first attack of the 1hand sword. What I find funny is Ranger NPC’s actually do have pounce as their first attack on 1H sword attacks??

Ranger Movement Speed Options compared to Eng/Thief.

The Ranger doesn’t only have swiftness on the warhorn. And there is more to movement speed then simply swiftness.

Swiftness:
Warhorn
Shortbow
Rampage As One (With a 120 second cooldown, this is viable to use in Worlds PvP)
Storm Spirit (With the “spirits can move and follow you” major trait)
Tail Wind (A minor trait that gives you swiftness on weapon swap, when in combat. But getting in combat is easy enough; just send your pet to attack a nearby mob)
Birds (Aim at a target that’s a great distance from you, and then call the pet back as soon as it gives you swiftness, if you don’t want to agro the mob. Use the major trait Concentration Training to make the swiftness last 15 seconds instead of 10. Practice makes perfect)

Other:
Signet of the Hunt (10% increased movement speed is great)
Shortbow (Use the ‘turn 180’ key to make the jump move you forward, instead of back)
Greatsword (Swoop makes you leap forward. This skill will actually move you forward faster then the warhorn, because of the short cooldown)

Now take all of that and everything that is required to get a bonus to movement speed on the Ranger and compare it to permanent 25% movement speed(Thief) and permanent 33% movement speed(Engineer), and you basically come back down to Warhorn, or god forbid greatsword being required.

Honestly, just move Signet of the Hunt to 20% and things would be fine. We still wouldn’t be up to par with the other two Adventurer classes but we would at least be close.

My opinion: utility abilities lackluster

The class just feels unfinished to me…

I compare the Ranger to the other two adventurer classes and it just looks unfinished. Now, every class could use some tweaks up or down, but the Ranger feels like it needs a tweak on the majority of their utility skills. But even given that the class feels unfinished and the pets are mostly a detriment rather than an enhancement to the class, I would still play the Ranger if not for one thing… and that is the lack of movement speed options 10% just doesn’t cut it on a medium wearer.

Yes, I know it is a matter of personal preference but compared to the other to adventure classes Rangers are no where near on par when it comes to movement speed. And, really Rangers need it as bad as Engineers do, as most of our melee is not very good either.

Honestly, didn’t understand the change either. All it really did was force 99% of the Engineers into Rifle Spec. It wasn’t like people were ranting and raving about pistol Engineers.

One of the things that bothers me the most about the Ranger compared to the other two Adventure classes is the lack of movement speed options. If traited the Engineer can just about have permanent swiftness, and the Thief of course has the 25% movement speed signet.

While the Ranger only have 10% Signet and Warhorn.

I am not going to count the bird pets as they are just to clunky to count the swiftness they apply.

Personally, I think the Ranger should have as many options as the other two Adventure classes.

I main a level 80 Thief and I want HS toned way down. ANet has taken a class that was very rewarding if played well, and turned it into a FOTM class for every one button mashing newb on the planet. I would be willing to be bet that Thief numbers are close to Warrior numbers in terms of population all because of one skill.
