I was really surprised why my team doesn’t participate the tournament. We are 5 guys in about top100 in eu team ladder (team Meatnight Grinders in your list). I thought that it’s a mistake but then i’ve seen the reserve list and saw many good teams on that list. However it’s not a mistake and it’s just a random choosing and stacking pve boys i hope to make the situation clear:

My company organises O&G conferences with top lvl of participants – first VPs of biggest oil producers in the world, their deputies ect ect. To make the good show i need to call everyone and make sure that they understand the concept of the show, the purpose of the show and how the show goes ect ect. So guys from my office need to call every single delegate, pitch him and do a great show at the end. Why am i writing that for you? I want to bring you and grow the idea, that you as the biggest GW2 shows orginiser could improve lvl of your show without much time spendings. I know you are not receiving money for this. I really appreciate that you doing in for us for free and it’s always very cool and exciting. At this moment nobody doesn’t understand how is the show goes. You have changed the rules, did some strange randomise in terms of choosing teams. This is not the end of the world and you still could change it.

I’m not only throwing stons in your garden, i could sit and help to you, just let me know. I’m sure we could find plenty of guys who can just spend 1-2h, check ladders with you and make a good team lists with good players in spvp, who deserve to play on that lvl. Let’s make the good GW2 tourney, players deserve it, the game deserves it, anet deserves it.

We are extremely specific about what is being released regarding PvP in John’s blog.

To quote from it, we say the following regarding this:

• “This post is to let you know that glory will no longer be awarded as of a maintenance build that is currently planned for March 18.”
  • Given that we have been calling the next phase of PvP the feature build, I’m surprised it wasn’t assumed that maintenance != feature here. Regardless, the next quote fully addresses that.
• “The glory vendor that was introduced in the December 10 build will remain until the new reward system is released in a later update "
• “Because these rewards are being removed in preparation for the next phase of the PvP reward updates”

In nearly every paragraph of this blog post, we discuss either what exactly is happening in this build, or mention that it is not a part of the next phase of rewards.

This is why I am confused as to where the misconception came from.

How hard is to just say whether or not the 18th patch will include all the balance changes talked about for months.

Because they don’t want to reveal said changes until they’ve been thoroughly tested and confirmed to be included in that release build.

If they say “balance changes coming on X date”, the community will berate them non-stop about what changes are coming. No changes can be stated until it’s confirmed in a stable state for release – it’s the nature of software development, especially agile development/iterative design that Arenanet uses. Anything can change at a moment’s notice.

EXCEPT…WOW, the largest mmorpg, always lists balance changes in advance and gasp they have PTR to test the changes and take feed back on. So NO.

WoW has been around for nearly 10 years. You’re basically comparing an infant to a 10 year old and saying that the infant should be able to beat up the 10 year old.

indeed, looks like we will take some break from gw with friends. i thought that Dec10th pvp changes would change something, but they didn’t change any except teams started play with two ham bow warriors instead of one. I really waited some changes and thought that changes that were announced in Jan will be in march at least.

i suggest to topic starter take some position in team ladder at least, or play as thief and take position as well, before he starts creating such useless topics on forums.

Anet, you are cool company atm! please don’t become into bad guys! There are a lot of guys who want to play your wonderful game without crashes and glitches. It’s very rude that devs do instant answers on gem store issues and no response for a monthes of games crashing every 30 sec topics.

me and my wife, we are waiting for Mac native client, and we have a hope that Anet will release it soon. We I’m looking forward to hear any news about it from devs. The game is awesome without a doubt! But, we need this client ASAP, because of old specs of Mac and because of Mavericks will release soon.

Saying they’ve already done it in whichever format and that it’ll be a pain and a cost of resources to give us a dedicated Mac port might be true, but it makes it no less necessary! I love Guild Wars – I see the game going for a great many more years, what with all their amazing updates and all – but if it intends to be taken seriously by its fans (like me!) for much longer I’m strongly behind a dedicated Mac client.

Sure, Mac gamers might not be their main audience, but I’m sure we’re a significant number. If even small Indie game studios cater for us, I don’t see myself gritting my teeth and trying so hard to enjoy a useable but ultimately unenjoyable wrapper client that’s in permanent BETA (I’m not even sure if it’s being worked on) from a large studio like ArenaNet for that much longer!

I absolutely love the game. I think it’s tragic that I have to be playing on 2001 Runescape-esque graphics when I’ve got a top-of-the-line OSX machine — and perhaps even more tragic that ArenaNet is happy allowing our (perhaps smaller) Mac population to experience all the wonderful work they put into the game on the Lowest graphics settings forever just because we’re not as many as their Windows userbase.

I would gladly pay a top-up fee or even a small subscription (though that’d be somewhat against my morals) to see them give some consideration to a properly supported Mac client. To give us a mediocre appeasement BETA toy and then kicking us out into the streets indefinitely with no further word like that is frankly rather unprofessional, and it makes me sad.

I find it kind of puzzling, actually. Mac users typically pay a premium for products, meaning they’re generally willing to pay more for what they like. What’s puzzling is that that implies (though I don’t have metrics) they would therefore be gem customers. Even though it’s a smaller population (and is that correlative to the fact there’s no client or is the lack of a client causative?), wouldn’t a higher-per capita number of Mac users buy gems? I assume so, but dunno… maybe data mining some client:gem purchase data would bear that out.

I am satisfied (and only satisfied – not ecstatic) with the performance under Cider/Wine, and would in fact like a native client.

I do, though, have another self interest in continued work on the Cider version – I play on Linux (desktop) and Mac (laptop) – any development on the Cider wrapper will likely result in simultaneous performance increases under Wine.

TLDR; as long as ANet keeps working on supporting the Mac (via either means of compatibility), I’ll be happy.

me and my gf, we want to buy new macbooks next year and we are playing only GW2 and LoL. I’m looking forward to hear some news about native Mac OS client for this awesome game!!!

I didn’t play ranger ever. I’m not against having a pet BUT the pet mechanic was simply badly implemented. Fix it or change it. Also i’m tired of playing with or against AI controlled things in s/tpvp.

Tell me, when you are fighting in melee range and you need to evade an attack and you dodge to negate your damage, how do you get your pet to avoid the damage? Even if you recall the pet to you, it’s not fast enough nor is it retreating far enough to miss getting hit. Recalling your pet only works if you are at range, and despite “Range” being in the name Ranger (the most ridiculous argument I have ever heard for the defense of something btw), there is no reason to believe that everyone should have to use a bow, especially given that it’s been proven time and time again that melee will out damage ranged nearly every time if you know the encounter well. This is from a pve perspective obviously where bosses are more than capable of one shotting you or your pet.

I am pure melee ranger and i’m always in the middle of the fight as well as my pets.
The dude above said about spvp, i answered to him only about spvp. I have noghing against that fact that Anet needs work with pets. But i hate such whining as you saw.

Lol this epsilon. Ye sry I am bad at the game. I can’t control my pet.I might try explaining to you why your statement “play thief or warrior if you want dmg from yourself” is stupid, but it would be a waste of my time. Logic is not for everyone. Even simple statements may be hard to understand for some ppl.
Awesome ranger can you explain to me then how to play a ranger in tpvp? I bet this is not going to happen. Or maybe how to avoid having an unfair advantage for having an AI controlled npc at my side?

Thats the average enemy you face. If recorded untik he found enough clips vs good enemies i think it would take a few months to maybe make a 10 min video and by then the classez would have changed and no longer really relevant.

It’s easy to miss I did too before someone pointed it out to me but it also gives you regen, you miss it cause it ticks every 3 seconds instead of once per second like it does for your pet it’s unaffected by your healing and other bonuses you have to boons and regens though, it’s a separete regen that can only be increased with the trait that gives your pet more healing power.

edit: you already noticed it, oh well…

p.s. where could i read some tricks about this? Because i didn’t know about it just because of wrong description of traits.

It’s like the forums are a separate game where you’re only allowed to theory-craft instead of actually playing the builds.

i’ve played hunter a lot since first beta event. and have just noticed that i have a small passive regeneration too) funny^^

you could just say normally to me :“hey dude, you are wrong, you receive regeneration too with this trait”
