WoodenPotatoes had a video on porting a few months back – basically the game decides whether you’re able to port somewhere or not.
Depending on whether you could walk there – if yes then only the walk distance matters usually.
Which Elite do you think is better against what types of opponents and in what situations?
And ahh thats sad to hear haha hoped for another possible interrupt combo
i looked at the pets and read through a couple of guides, thought wolf + juvenile spider would do well
Also, i changed my mind about the trait spread, don’t really like the sound of 3 might per signet and as i am running axe OH i will try out the GM in 2nd trait line (Moment of Clarity):
Build
I may wanna switch out Rampage As One for Entangle but I’m not sure, what do you guys think?
And also, is the wolf f2 also able to proc Moment of Clarity (GM in 2nd trait line) if it interrupts?
actually i said WvW in the title but yeah i forgot it in the first post :$
is there any gathered info on pets anywhere?
so far i heard spider, wolves, dogs, birds and bears for WvW, so i guess thats about that?
Hey guys
I decided to give ranger a try in WvW, namely a 26600 GS, S/A build
Build
I got all figured out, food, traits, sklls and so on, but as i never really played ranger before i dont really know which pets to take…
I’ve heard that birds are pretty good because of their blinds (and damage?)
but i’ve also seen wolves (because of their knockdown on pet change [?] and fear?)
as well as the siamoth, which i think is pretty cool with stealth or all boons – even though idk whether that is rather a LB-Pet for RF…
So i’m basically open for any help or tips regarding the pets i should take
Also, anywhere (not enough time to search by myself sorry :$) good infos about all the pets available to ranger so that i can inform myself?
thanks alrdy
Edit: added the build link, changed the trait setup from 44600 to 26600 and asked 3 more questions in a post down below:
1. What do you think about the build?
2. I may wanna switch out Rampage As One for Entangle but I’m not sure, what do you guys think?
3. And also, is the wolf f2 also able to proc Moment of Clarity (GM in 2nd trait line) if it interrupts?
Edit2:
basically as my questions have been answered apart from my two new questions further below:
1. does anyone know whether MoC and the 50% increased dmg of the signet of hunt stack up?
2. also, do you think RaO (if used after corrupt boon) or Entangle is better vs condi necros?
(edited by Tarkan.5609)
alright thx everyone, gonna go for that then!
Hey guys
once i’ve seen a post stating that the quality of your weapon doesn’t influence your stats while in a kit or something like that.
Question being, I’ve got a berserker rifle right now but for Precision’s sake I plan on getting it ascended, with Assassin’s stats.
a) Will the ascended part make a difference while in a kit?
b) Will the extra precision of Assassin’s instead of Berserkers also show while in a kit?
Thx in advance
I’d vote for condi necros, their fear chaining in combination with terror-dmg and the pure amount of condi pressure they have (look at their scepter AA as one example).
And chill
The minute a thief can be more successful in outnumbered fights or perhaps 1v1 scenarios is the moment you can call them op. But they are not. Take anyone of equal skill level and put them against each other, one playing thief and the other playing another profession, and the match will be even.
I was 1 vs 3 yesterday and won. Include “equal skill level” in that one as well as I won against guys from my former server who I know are bad – but I had no idea they were that bad.
Anyway, my friend and I are about equal skill level and I don’t stand a chance against his medi guard.
I did two 1v3 on D/P 60206 in wvw with no uplevels a few days ago (with one opponent being distracted by a kata or a camp at first, thats what made it possible in the first place) and i dont hope anyone claims 60206 D/P is op…
And given equal skill level, a power thief should rarely have a chance against a medi guard, just as a mesmer rarely has a chance against a thief and an engi rarely beats a necro
Given equal skill level, dont forget that, and at some duels this may change because of mistakes or really good play/tactics, but its like that – everything has a counter or can be countered

*Cut
Again lie and excuses.
Shortbow#5 – who need this stupid skill, right?
Instant you said
So don’t call me lieer because i thought you knew what instant is
Oh and to answer your question:
Full SA only for learning the profession or Solo Towers or so imo, it’s a good but maybe too good trait line – too passive for my liking at least.
60206 is nice for everything, has some nice condi remove and i would never go only 4 in trickery, always pick up sleight of hand to get the reduced CD and the daze
And with 6 in trickery Mug is REALLY good healing if youre full bersi
thats why i chose 60206 for my main build in wvw, it has all ov that and the only real problem with “low” precision (on full bersi with food still 54% lol) gets evened out by a lot of extra power and almost PERMA FURY
Hey!
So I am maining thief and playing only PvP and WvW Solo Roaming for a year now.
I’ve tried a lot of builds in WvW, among them:
D/D 06620, 04640, 06440, 26006, 06206
D/P 06620, 04640, 26006, 60206
S/D 20606, 03650, 04640, 20066
S/P 62006, 26006
P/D 20606 [yeah I was trying out condi ]
So this alone should show you what incredible build diversity there is for WvW, and there are way more (like 20606 for D/D or D/P)
Three Things I learned:
- a) never go condi
- b) never go D/P and use more than 2 Trait Points in Stealth (for Shadow’s Embrace) [why? because it’s ridiculous and doesnt support skillful play at all – 6 in Shadow Arts aka SA generally does that but for D/D I can somehow accept it, even though it still doesn’t prove any kind of skill]
- c) don’t go for SA on S/D, you’ll lack burst dmg and it’s hard to finish a bunkery class once they’re below 25% health as they usually pay more attention then – you’d have to rely on Air/Fire Procs and may have problems keeping up sometimes if you dont have swiftness on dodge
I can’t answer your question for you, you gotta find out what’s fun for you but let me tell you my personal experience:
I used to play D/D 06620 for a few months but as soon as I tried out 6 in Trickery on S/D Evade I just couldnt stop missing that on any other build.
So I tried out a lot of builds as you can see, but in the end the two builds i’m playing regularly in WvW now if I am not in sPvP are:
- S/D 20066
- D/P 60206
Why that? Well you need some kind of condition clear in WvW, thats for sure. S/D offers that [even though its kinda lackluster against condi engis or condi necros – you can beat them tho by playing well and smartly] and D/P 26006 doesnt – you dont get the [awesome if you are full Berserker] Heal of Mug with 06206, but 60206 give you improvisation and panic strike while I still have 54% crit chance and 98% uptime on fury [pack rune]
26006 is just not worth it imo, can be fun but you’ll regret it against any decent condi player
So if you play the two builds i use long enough, know how to play them, know which skills to dodge and you are able to dodge them, you’re good in WvW
If you wanna try some more I’d rather reccomend you D/D 06620 or any other build i listed above, just try a few builds that seem fun and see which one you like the most
Of course it also depends on what you wanna be:
- You can be completely burst, go D/D 56003
- You can go for EASY outnumbered fights, go SA
- You can go for more sustained burst with 06620 or 26600 [pack rune, full bersi, executioner]
- You can go for “fair” and “skill supporting” builds like S/D 20066 and D/P 60206
Whatever you chose though keep in mind:
There will always be someone you won’t be able to kill, either because of skill difference, a cheesy build [i generally count everything that is condi as cheesy] or as its your counter
That shouldn’t stop you having fun with your build and shouldn’t frustate you, trying to change your build all the time. It’s okay, look at the three options
- Skill difference: You can work on that, give it time and analyze what you could do better and how you can counter your opponent
- Cheesy Build: Enjoy the knowledge that you’re likely a better player and have more honor [i hope]
- Counter: Not a lot can be done there, same as with Skill difference but you may still loose
Have fun with thief!

lol what a troll
that guy is the problem in gw2 that thieve have to deal with…
“Everyone knows” best argument ever bro! love it!
In 1v2 well youre talking about WvW and SA now and about 2 players that you probably outskill by quite a bit – because if you know how to counter stealth you shouln have any problems in 2v1 lol
5k range gap closer? yeah lets see… shadowstep (1200) + initiative signet (900) + infiltrator’s strike (was 600 right? or 900?) + steal (900 or 1500 if traited for which no one does) = 4300 and you trait for the steal
So we are talking about S/D that traits for Long Reach (no one does that) and who is on full CD (apart from SR which is crap in a 1v1 with magic AoE*) after that… Shouldnt be too easy to beat eh?
Also wanna point out, once youre talking about a SA Build which probably utilizes D/D or D/P and once you talk about S/D (or S/P) with likely no SA at all…
*talking about a build without SA rn and either
- youre forced to use SR in melee which is a pain
- your opp has quite a bit of AoE (on SR) and/or Condis (on you)
(edited by Tarkan.5609)
I like the idea of having BS cost 1 ini – 2 seems really high for a stealth skill (especially considerung you’d have to giv the 1ini cost to every single stealth skill – and s/d evade uses stealth sometimes but not often and that’d hurt them a bit as well which you probably wouldnt want as that’d be hurting skillful play)
thing is though, if you make it cost 1ini, d/p or d/d initiative will be UNDERWHELMING
because its really easy to miss one bs
making bs hit harder… well i can already see the qq’s coming (mostly from bad players i guess):
- bs hits too hard
- got 1shotted by new bs, ANET nerf teef op
- bs most op skill ingame
- thanks, more burst on teefs, Anet you are a walnut
- teefs dont need skill
- new bs breaks game
- how can it be that me, full berserker ranger without knowledge of pvp or wvw and no reaction time at all, usually spamming RF on tower walls or in the backline of zergs (and afterwards be the one to jump most skillfully on the poor corpse of the thief who had the pleasure to be surprised in a 1v1 by a blob), unable to use any of my skills apart from 1,2 and 4 (thats why i only use signet lolz) get 3-shotted by teef? ANET NERF OP QQ WHINE
ok no real ranger hate intended here haha but it’s funny how so many scouts in wvw after that patch were rangers, who just press 1 and 2 at any opponent who comes by.
trying to get a kill because they’re too bad to manage that without a wall seperating them from any kind of roamer
On a side note p/d has next to no chasing power seeing how shadow strike is restricted to making distance, not closing it and no land speed (in my eyes it is the second worst set for mobility after p/p).
Hey, it got that 1s immobilise and a whole THREE SECONDS of cripple on dancing dagger ;-)
Hey that’s so true!
THREE kittenING SECONDS (in case the dancing dagger hits and doesnt get distraced by the beautiful weather or decides to go “my people need me [in space]”)
People are just funny…
Been roaming on S/D 20066 in WvW and got complains about
- Stealth Spamming… yeah because thats the whole point of s/d evade, you all play it wrong!
- Evades… because it’s not like i don’t have any other defense but evades (and it also takes no skill at all to only be able to beat people by needing the skill to dodge almost EVERY important attack of theirs due to the lack of real burst) [mostly coming from people who didn’t manage to dodge one of my number 2s or 3s… but teef op]
- running from a 1v2 (oh i’m sorry that i rather dont wanna try it against a terrormancer and a guardian?)
- resetting a foght against a terrormancer (true, sorry i shouldnt have done that, my condi remove is op enough for that)
And then roaming on D/P 60206 doesn’t get any better…
- People still complain about me resetting a fight against a condition necromancer (who i did later beat 2 times but pssst)
- and people still complain about D/P and stealth being op (hint: maybe its not D/P and stealth thats op, but rather SA? why do S/D 20066 thieves rarely use C&D? sometimes they do but usually they dont and guess why…)
Stealth is really really lackluster if not traited for… and at the same time Stealth is really strong when traited for
Sir Chan de Stroy – my crusading Knight Hospitaller.
Ok wow… simply wow!
You know what, kitten my legendary plan as soon as i’m willling to waste my time leaving WvW and PvP and farming PvE at some point, kitten all the shiny skins i’ve got for my thief, warrior, ele, mesmer, necro and whatnot…
You’ve beaten them all, props to you – that’s an awesome look you’ve got right there man!
Edit: oh, so apparantly the forum changes kitten to kitten haha
Edit 2: well… the forum changes kitten to kitten? and also if its written with one *?
Edit 3: xD so it changes the f-word to kitten, even when written with double or single *

I don’t play any SA-Thief-Builds anymore (WvW: D/D, SB 26006) but I remember how annoying that trait was
anything that anet changes about this trait could only make it better, lets let this thread stay among the first few on the thief forum
hey man i know what youre saying and meaning but my only problem with 20606 is:
it doesnt have the burst i want to have on my thiefYes, 26600 bursts harder, but it’s also more predictable because it relies a lot on landing that burst. At mid to high level play, I feel this burst-or-nothing mindset is limiting because opponents will know how to mitigate the CnD, mug, backstab combo.
Thats true but in wvw tbh there arent a lot of skilled players running around or anything, burst in combination with SA is enough for some 1vX
And even though i duelled a lot of reapers/legendary champions (also pretty good players) i only have problems against good D/D eles and really good s/d thieves (and anti-thief burst rangers or engineers but that doesnt count) – simply because of their boons (eles) or their ability to strike whenever they want (s/d thieves)
btw you could also try s/d 20606, used to run that build for like 4months because its pretty neat, doesnt rely on one major crit like d/d does
hey man i know what youre saying and meaning but my only problem with 20606 is:
it doesnt have the burst i want to have on my thief
of course you can practically beat any opponent with the same skill level with your build, thats not possible with x66xx but i personally main both engineer and thief for months now
why can i stustain two mains? because one’s burst and one’s celestial
i can beat most players in 1v1 (and because of SA also 1v2 or 1v3) but some builds used by good players are just unbeatable – but for that i’m a thief, awareness + thief = unkillable
just the reason why i still prefer x66xx over your build, nothing to say against yours tho apart from missing burst imo
Hey guys
i’m currently getting myself a mesmer for some wvw solo/pvp, as i dont have a sword that fits the crossing yet i may want to get myself the chain sword skin for my alt…
my question, does it have sound effects like eg the gs version?
hope it does but bet it’d be way more expensive then haha
I’m using D/D in wvw on my thief (as my main) and imo and my experience there are two options:
a) go for Trav runes and 26600 – the 25% movement speed helps a lot, and SB has some awesome mobility and combined with stealth best escape ability
b) i prefer this: go 06620 (VI in acrobatics = Fleet Shadow or so = 50% movement increase in stealth)
i like it as it gives me extra 50% movement speed while in stealth, to get BS off more reliably / position myself
of course you lack the movement speed out of stealth but the combination of high access to stealth, great mobility via SB and tricks using the teleport ability of your SB is enough for me to escape/reposition myself – and paying attention to your surroundings in a fight really helps as well
“Unity Jebro” (youtube) usually uploads the ESL-cups after they streamed them on twitch (normally moderated/commented by Chronickgamer and Unity Jebro)
to get their twitch i’d reccomend just checking them out on youtube, i stick to the ESL vids jebro uploads though
if there really are 4 confusion stacks on the guard sometimes then that should be the master (4 points) trait in strength of the warrior, where he applies 4 stacks of confusion on interrupt
if you want to see the best players around watch the weekly ESL, top teams are for example cheese mode, 55hp monks, ctg (i think its ctg right?)
ah yeah btw, going after the gw2 all star tourni (i think it was called) the best warrior = ROM, thief = sizer, guardian = tage, mesmer = helseth, ele = denshee
So i’ve reworked my Build and i’ve still got two questions:
(mostly solo roaming btw)
a) should i rework some stats? because especially with bloodlust and wvw stack my power would end up being high enough for me to sacrifice a bit for toughness.
(some berserker into assassins, some berserker into cavaliers’ = more toughness, less power, same crit chance, same crit dmg)
b) for wvw solo roaming, what weapon combination would you recommend?
gs + staff
gs + sword/torch
staff + sword/torch
Thx
In wvw i’m almost always solo-roaming, sometimes when i meet some friends we roam as 2 or 3 people
So my heal would leave me with a single 2×2 condi remove on a mantra with a 10s cd… i think i’ll have to work on that ^^
Hey guys,
i just ended planning my zerker shatter mesmer build that i’ll try in wvw and maybe also in pvp (with a possible weapon change or sth)
first of all, i am not an extremely experienced mesmer, i played quite a bit lately and i know a bit as well, but before mesmer i mainly played thief (s/d evade, d/d stealth) and engi (condi and static discharge) in wvw
anyway, here’s my Build
i’ve got two short questions though:
a) does “mender’s purity” remove 2 condis both on charging the mantra and on each activation, as shown in the build editor?
b) with this trait setup and stuff, would you reccomend me to go for gs+staff, gs+sword/torch or staff+sword/torch?
or is this totally in my hand and doesnt affect the build a lot?
and i know that my trait setup is pretty much the same as the usual 44006 trait setup with just 2 points switched around for the 24206
i just love the tripe stunbreak though and wanted to try the healing mantra in combination with “mender’s purity” so that i could go for Mirror Images instead of Mantra of Resolve
What do you think of the build overall?
Thx
Hey guys
I’m maining thief (s/d, sb evade) in solo roaming in wvw and i thought about trying out a ranger with the same weapons
my question now is:
should i go dire + traps or are there also other possibilities like hybrid or power based builds?
i already looked at some traits for a trapper build, i’m just not totally sure about them and some trait ideas for any s/d, sb build may also be really helpful!
thanks
Hey guys
ever wondered how you do real spawncamping? Not just the usual killing and farming, no, some guys from Gunnar’s Hold (guys of Re, Nuke and PvE) know the real truth and tactics behind spawncamping.
Building up a superior and a normal ballista they show what they think of a fair match up…
I mean really, spawncamping is bad enough but is it really necessary that they build up ballistas and laugh?
We pushed several times and finally built up a box of fun…
Nothing can compare to thief in this regard.
D/D triple cantrip is the closest you can get, but I don’t think it’s that viable for roaming.
S/D|F can’t kill normal players.
Staff can’t kill normal players.
how can a s/d build not kill normal players?
i agree about staff but thats a zerg weapon and d/d is pretty much the best weapon set for roaming eles as it gives you some damage, some mightstacking, some healing and mobility
Hey together
I like the new trait system anet is going to introduce but I also had an idea for making it even easier to change your build – with my small screen having that Hero Panel open equals me having to concentrate on that, so I couldnt quickly change the build within Dungeons for a special purpose or something (or in WvW I’d like to be able to quickly change my build when I am going to solo a camp).
For that I had an idea a few months ago and now, with the changes they are making, I thought why not talking about that.
My idea would be to be able save trait constellations, you could have differents tabs that you could name yourself (for example “WvW Solo”, “WvW Camp”, “PvE Dungeons” and more for my thief) – that would allow you to have different builds for different purposes saved all the time and you could change your build within seconds.
What do you think of that? I’d definitely love it
ok thanks all, maybe i am gonna do that then – nice that the backpiece is also changeable by that little trick
Hey guys
I’d like to know wether there’s a way to change back pieces to another character?
I know about a weapon or armor piece but can i also change my fractal backpiece (infused, so upgrading it even more is not working) to another char?
Thanks
hey cool thanks
Yeah I know the WvW Karma farming its just that i dont enjoy zerging so i am probably going to run fractals 20 daily instead of 29 for the 8k Karma and farm some activities – which are the fastest activities btw?
My suggestion:
Don’t do it!
I have two warriors on 80, my first one was human female and my second one Asura. Just a little overview of how it went:
1. Human female on 80
2. Change to human male
3. Get tired of human male’s animation
4. Take a break by using Ele for some months
5. See an asura warrior with his animation
6. Get an Asura warrior to 80
7. Get annoyed of how you can’t see any special armor that I farmed for on my Asura
8. Rechange my human male to human female
9. Sometimes be tired as asura’s animation’s are awesome (dodge → tumbling & the running for example)
10. Get human 100% world completion and fully ascended but can’t delete the Asura as there is armorsmith 500 & cook 400 on that char
11. in the end: always be sad because of the other race you don’t play as that one has it’s moments as well – especially if I see some cool Asura warriors/guardians
This is my story and the reason why I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone – at least anyone who is a little bit like me
Hey guys
as I still need around 500k Karma for my Legendary after all the ascended crafting I would like to farm Karma.
I know that you can also get Obsidian Shards via Fractal Relics, Bauble Bubbles and Laurels but
a) I am almost finished with my Fractal Backpiece and I want to get that done first
b) I rather save my Laurels
I will have to get it via Karma.
Which ways to farm Karma do you know? Any numbers would be nice as well
Tarkan
PS: I am still cursing myself that I used my 2-3 millions of karma before the nerf in order to get some gold… if I ever knew that it would have been so hard to get Karma nowadays I wouldn’t have done that obviously -.-
Hey
I got my Tempered Spinal Blades 3 days after the release of the patch so I dont really remember wether it got accountbound after being soulbound after I upgraded it.
Anyone of you remembers that?
Because I want to get that backpiece, after upgrading it even more in the next living story, to another character.
And if it doesn’t get account bound, how can i do that? I know the trick for weapons and armor with Transmutation Crystals and for ascended/legendary stuff also Transmutation splitters, but i dont know a way for backpieces so far
I mean almost every legy has footsteps nowadays… they are one of the best inventions for legendaries imo
Hey guys
well I found no place where i could put this thread/question/request in, so I’m sorry if it is wrong
I just started to farm for The Flameseeker-Prophecies as it is an awesome skin imo but it has no aura or footsteps – and there are other legendaries out there like that.
My question is: does ArenaNet plan to get footsteps to these legys or will they stay like that?
An aura would be nice as well :P
I would mainly use my thief for solo roaming, sometimes (maybe with small changes) for duo or group roaming.
Anything that isn’t condi and uses s/d or d/p? (maybe even both?)
Hey
I am currently working on my thief build for WvW.
Is the current meta s/p? Because I don’t really like that for anything apart from PvE.
I would love some ideas for either s/d or/and d/p builds, however any ideas are welcome
(unless they are condi ^^)
+1
Legendary effects on kits!
seems all right but warr is not balanced
It isn’t as op any more but warrior is still one of the best classes out there for ANYTHING – PvE (high dmg while having decent survivability and nice help via banners), WvW (dmg, mobility,…) & sPvP (great AoE stuns and dmg)
warriors atm just have a lot of everything (maybe apart from condis, did never run that – and no stealth of course :P ) and they are probably even faster than thieves with the right builds…
the AoE and dmg from warriors is insane, e.g. they can simply Stun you for 3 seconds every 8 point something seconds. Of course you can evade that but you
a) have to be good enough to evade all that good stuff because if you are hit by one of the important skills you are most likely at 50% health if you are lucky (apart from extemely bunkery specs)
b) need a build that allows you to dodge that often. The only builds where I know for sure that they have these amounts of evades are thieves – p/d and s/d
I’m trying to choose a new class to level up specifically for roaming in WvW. I will be mostly solo, and I am looking for a class that does not rely solely on hit-and-run (ie. thief /mes) or continual kiting.
Based on the above, warrior has piqued my interest. What are the strengths and weaknesses of the warrior class in WvW roaming?
For reference, I have been eyeing Axe/Shield and GS (or hammer) builds, but I am not set on anything in particular.
the strength of the warrior lies in its native durability (heavy armor + high HP pool) and its ability to negate CC, while dishing out strong CC.
the weakness is that it’s strengths are all possible to counter with just a few conditions (poison, cripple, chill, immob) and even with dogged march and cleansing ire you are far from being “as safe” as you may think. a proper condition thief or ranger will give you a run for your money as you lack evades and mobile blocks (yes shield stance is great, until you realize the ranger you fought spent that time placing traps on you, or prepping the pet for bursts. Or a thief positioning for a backstab+HS combo).
As for weapons, drop the hammer and NEVER use it. Your best friend in roaming will most likely be Axe + mace and sword + shield. Sword you use exclusively for immobilize spam. Using berzerker stance, you can charge up enough adrenaline to do a flurry (lvl 3) + eviscerate (lvl 2) combo. This should give you some decent CC-burst combo.
As for armor/weapons.
Knights + zealot and givers weapons. Use sigils of ice and hydromancy on sword/shield. Sigil of Bloodlust and generousity/nullification on axe/mace.
I hope you know that your decent cc-burst-combo relies on a utility skill that is on a 60 second cd? Other than that you will AA on axe am I right? because you will always hit with it, yeah
Rather go for GS and then either Axe or Sword in MH and Shield or Warhorn in your OH.
Then you have some nice dmg combined with mobility and survivability
(edited by Tarkan.5609)
one thing I forgot:
Good P/D thieves with a lot of dodges, poison and ranged attack are probably the hardest opponents for me.
However if u are not really low you should be able to run away or at least survive until you reach your respawn location
The problem with them being that the poison reduces your healing, their ranged attacks and dodges makes it easy for them to dodge your important skills and also your burst skills – so no condi removal.
Note: I had one fight against a good p/d thief today and I was able to survive, but not kill him – because of the condis I turned around and walked away after a minute. The condis may only have been a problem because atm I am too lazy to get myself Melandru runes and my buff food :P
Well that completely depends on your weapons and utilities.
Traits: strong condi remove (cleansing ire), maybe +25% movement speed for extra mobility & the ability to clear immob with movement skills – which some builds have a lot of
With healing signet you have a very strong passive heal that is however very vulnerable to poison.
With axe you have a nice AA and awesome dmg on 1 click with your f1 but #2 and #3 are rubbish.
With sword power builds (sword/shield, gs – includes a combo) you have awesome mobility and good survivability combined with high dmg unless your enemy cleanses his immobs very fastly.
Sword/Sword LB has decent mobility with good overtime dmg and very good defense.
Mace MH is good for skull crack builds (maybe even without “unsuspecting foe” depending on what you like)
Overall warrior CAN have mobility, healing, invulnerability, condi cleanse and dmg in one build, they can have a very strong revive (only down state) with battle standard
HOWEVER there are some weaknesses of warriors:
- poison is a killer for healing signet
- very good enemies with enough dodges will dodge every single of your important skills (e.g. Sword f1 & #3 #5, hammer f1 & #4 & #5, axe f1, mace f1 & #5, LB #3 & #5, shield #4, bulls charge, anything else as well)
that is because warrior is probably the class with the most obvious animations – if u are not able to dodge them then they are really strong but if u have enough dodges and can dodge them then warriors will be no problem at all
other than that warriors can look pretty cool, so another +
(If you want the sword/shield gs build I mentioned above just ask )
I wouldn’t say Yishis is a Thief idol.
who else?
I mean Yishis is pretty awesome on his Thief, just love his videos.
Btw Koroshi or Teldo for engineers?
yeah i also like sword – especially because of the mobility it offers me
but then i dont really like the f1 in a power build unless i’m having GS in my other weapon set.
I may try sword as well but atm i am fine with axe mh
- Engi: bunker engis can be a pain especially with their toughness and 3sec-protection (5sec cd) on stun – better if you are having back-up but you usually can pressure him relatively nicely and get rid of his conditions by using your hammer f1 into his turrets if necessary – otherwise try to avoid his pull & confusion (tool kit #3 & #5) or all of his knockbacks and get him to panic so that he f***s up his combos. Pay attention if they are using signet of doom or/and elixir gun (perma weakness)
- Rangers: they shouldn’t really be a problem but try to avoid their poison attacks on dagger (and sword I think) – hit their spirits as well with your skills and you should be fine
- Elementalists: are a joke atm. Probably rather squishy as they are using berserker – don’t let them heal up when they are using clerics (then they should deal a lot of dmg anyway) and try to interrupt their Aether renewal
- Necromancer: pretty strong with all their conditions, if they have their power-Sigil save your elite for that. Minion necros are strong in duels but relatively useless in group fights but necros should always be your first target in group fights because they can pressure you and your team easily (especially epidemic is a pain) – try to put any other side dmg on thieves and elementalists.
- Mesmer: direct dmg-mesmers usually lack a lot of defensive skills, just try to avoid their sword #2, dodge and kill their phantasms (especially pistol and gs), get our of null field, don’t waste attacks into their f4 (invulnerability) and other than that pressure them. Condition mesmers are harder to kill but easier to survive – its only annoying if they keep you away from the group fights and on your point (they probably aren’t able to decap it as they often stealth). They are the main reason why I went for berserker main stat and switched soldiers to jewel.
Note: All this is before the patch with the balance and sigil changes, you may want too add another sigil of battle onto you Hammer to maintain a few stacks of might if you can have 2 sigils on your 2-handed-weapons
And yeah that’s my build, some explanation why I (don’t) use X and how I try to fight some classes.
I’m still nowhere near perfect as I often forget to use my healing signet
If u have any feedback, criticism or ideas on how to improve this build (I’m for example not sure whether I should use empower instead of 10 points in weapons) leave a comment please and I will definitely answer you.
Questions on what I think about specific traits/skills or weapons or anything else are also appreciated and other than that any comment is an encouragement (don’t sure if that’s a word though)
- let’s just say “encourages me to maybe show some future sPvP builds if I ever come up with something new and think it is worth mentioning”
Other than that why not try this build?
Oh oh I wrote way too much and I’m gonna stop now – thank you a lot if u read so far!!!
