Not only is that not how inb4 is used, it is also impossible to understand what traits/trees you use when all you post are dashes with numbers and roman numerals. How about using a site like: http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/. Or even simply going Spite30-I-II-III ect. Also any build relying on DS to do anything other then soak up damage is bad(atleast until LF degen and UI are fixed)

About 5 days – the majority of the world uses DD/MM/YYYY, it’s only you American types that get them the wrong way around. Oh, I know, there’s no “wrong” way if you’re keen on splitting hairs, but do you list distance as feet/miles/yards? No? Then why list dates as MM/DD/YYYY? It’s just odd.

Well, not to point out your obvious mistake, but given that I am an American, I can honestly tell you that practically everyone in the US uses a day/month/year format. In fact, if you change formats in any microsoft programming the month/day/year format is considered French format (or EU format). So, I am not sure where you are from supahspankeh, but get your facts right, and travel a bit before you spout off nonsense.

Now, back to the pointless speculation,
I am hoping they take a look at some traits within the various lines and shift them around a bit, or even combine a few to add some new ones. Even though we have a variety of skills, we rarely use a significant number of trait skills because franky they are lack luster.

In fact, with 0 traits, at level 80 with full exotics, adding traits does not seem to have a large impact, besides boosting stats. I think they really did not take their time with this class…. at all. I think they screwed up DS so badly in going from a down state to a class defining attribute, that they just said screw it, and threw in a bunch of random traits skills in random trait lines. I really hope they sit down and really take a look at it. There is a reason why it is one of the least played classes, and “skill required” is not a good enough reason.

Thus, I am hoping they alter/adjust some traits. I am also hoping they buff wells a bit, and reduce some cooldowns and casting times. I think it would make necro more forgiving, especially giving all these rendering errors and lag issues that some people are having. Rendering issues, with a bit of lag, coupled with our slow cast times, makes the necro more difficult to play without having a significant power tradeoff. In that if we land our skills perfectly, its still not incredibly effective. I don’t think necro is weak, but i think it is behind the powercurve when compared with the top 3 classes (Mesmer, thief, guardian). Mesmers might have gotten a damage nerf (slightly) but they are still powerful as heck in pvp/wvw and necros have a long way to go.

I also hope they buff the power ratios for weapons. I run a power/survival build and a condition/toughness/crit build at times. For the power builds, i feel axe damage is just not there, unless you go high crit % on dmg. It just cant compare which leads some people to believe that scepte rdmg in a hybrid build is better than axe. I rarely see people use axe, though I try at times, and rarely do they use it for the autoattack. On the other hand, when I run dagger, the dagger 2 skill is so lackluster, easily cancelled that I rarely even press 2. Usually I just slam 3, drop 2 wells, and autoattack until dead.

They just need to take a look at the class concept big time and really try to adjust it. I still hold to the fact that we are not playing a necro, but just a blood mage, or dark wizard, instead of a necro.

I refuse to talk about minioins because they are junk, unless you get lucky and they decide to attack, besides being so whimpy that a fart kills them.

Edit : I’d also like to see an improved visual of at least our flesh golem.It’s counter part in GW1 was chunks of pure awesome, and this now is…meh.

Anyway, data format semantics aside, I’d like to see:

1) Up the power co-effecient a bit on the staff’s marks
2) Better staff speed
3) Underwater wells – you know the hilarious thing is Engineers can throw grenades underwater? So it’s not an engine limitation, it sure as heck isn’t a balance limitation… so what is it?
4) Underwater weapon traits
5) Massive trait reshuffle

We’ll probably get:

1) When summoning Flesh Golem, all other pets die.
2) Gluttony fixed and increased to 10%, but LF generation reduced on all abilities and marks can only generate 3% maximum.

Excellent well thought out post. Would make a few notes at Wells that they are extremely kittened in sPvP or particularly tPvP, you will be lucky to get two ticks off with them on the same target. Well of darkness doesn’t find its way on my toolbar even in a well build, simply because a blind every other second (assuming they are standing in it, which they wont be) isn’t worth a sizable CD and a slot.

If you played the game before the November 15th patch, then logged in on the 15th, you would notice that Necrotic Grasp velocity was changed along with the scepter speeds and not documented like they were.

Never happened without ANET confirmation. Even if they so called changed it, it is still one of the slowest auto attack in the game….there is no point for the “change” because it is pretty bad.

I think you are confusing between the speed and the range. Range increase? Perhaps.
The speed at which it travels, same old.

I’m done repeating myself. Enjoy your journeys in Azeroth.

Just admit you don’t know what you’re talking about, there was no speed change to necrotic grasp and no reason why a scepter auto should be on par with a staff auto attack wise.

Jon, please tell me you are adjusting the speed for necrotic grasp (staff #1 skill for those that don’t know) so i can finally return to this game.

It is just slow and boring. Although i don’t like its animation and prefer something like life blast, i care more about its pathetic slow speed.

As of the October 22nd major update, Necrotic grasp projectile velocity is consistent with Mesmer Scepter projectile and Guardian Scepter projectile.

  • Necrotic Grasp also hits harder than all aforementioned attacks except for the 3rd chain in the Mesmer Scepter.
  • Necrotic Grasp pierces (can hit up to 3 targets with 1 projectile), and has longer than 1200 range (undocumented due to the November 15th patch).

If you still think its speed should be increased, please list here why you think so. Personally, I think Necrotic Grasp is in a good spot(balance-wise), not to mention it’s also a life force builder.

First of all, i’m fairly certain it was spectral grasp that got the speed buff and nothing was given to necrotic grasp. Secondly you are comparing a TWO HAND weapon damage to a SINGLE hand weapon damage. Staff auto attack should be considerably stronger then a scepter auto attack of any profession.

The TL;DR of this post is don’t both with Sigil / Runes, just pester a Guardian to keep activating Virtue of Justice

A Guardian activating Virtue of Justice with a full party will cause a Burn whose duration is equal to the cooldown of reapply it (on one target), so as long as you’re with a Guardian you’re doing Burning for free.

If they aren’t activating the Virtue they’re bad and you should pester them, there’s no reason not to activate it especially if someone in the party is using +condition damage, plus if they have at least 5 points in Virtues activating it gives everyone some Might

Necro is my only lvl 80. I went conditionmancer for most of my leveling, then switched to minion master for lvls ~60-80. A fully traited MM is actually pretty awesome for PvE, even in Orr. With the right traits, it goes like this:

1. I gain 20 toughness per spawned minion.
2. Minions have 50-60% more health (putting them at a full health bar…I don’t remember the exact percentage off the top of my head).
3. Minions have increased damage (again don’t remember the exact percentage).
4. Minion respawn time is reduced.
5. Minions siphon health from enemies back to me while fighting.
6. Death Shroud’s Life Transfer (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Life_Transfer) siphons health from all enemies within a fairly large radius, transferring it back to myself AND allies (which includes minions).
7. Well of Blood (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Well_of_Blood) heals myself AND allies (which includes minions).
8. The staff’s Mark of Blood (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mark_of_Blood) grants regeneration on allies (including minions).

Am I an unstoppable tank? No, but I do have high survivability as long as I utilize my staff combos, hop in and out of DS for minion healing / additional damage, drop the occasional healing well and move around accordingly. Also remember fear is an awesome defensive weapon – I can fear away a group of enemies attacking me with my staff / DS fears long enough to redirect my minions towards them (and then slip myself behind the minions). I can also fear enemies back into marks for all kinds of fun.

With the above I can continuously survive waves of 6+ enemy groups for as long as I need to, even in Orr. Your minions will eventually die, and you will have to run around dodging enemies until their cooldowns are done, but they don’t typically ALL die at once if you’re playing smart – aka, don’t run headlong into huge mobs…

Minion AI isn’t the greatest, but I’ve found that playing a MM requires you to actually pay attention to your minions (weird, I know), so you’ll know pretty quickly if one isn’t attacking the right enemy (or is just standing idly by itself). Either retarget someone new or use the minion’s ability to refocus it. Necromancers excel at AOE, so you ought to have another appropriate target nearby to attack if you’ve correctly corralled them.

I’ve found that while other professions can sometimes do more DD, I always seem to be the best AOE dealer in PvE. I am personally terrible at PvP, but have seem some really great PvP necros there as well. Definitely recommend the profession!

Sure minions might be alright for solo questing, but try that in a dungeon. They will all die immediately to any AoE, plus they will pull mobs you are trying to run and bypass. Not to mention they don’t scale with gear so while you progress and get better stats, they stay the same.

Like to know a few things about this grandmaster trait (siphon health each time a well pulses). Sense this is a siphon does it stack with bloodthirst? Sense it is siphoning health does that mean it makes non damaging wells (example well of power) do damage? And if an enemy is standing in your well of blood, does that mean you get healed from the well siphoning health along with its normal heal? Thanks in advance.

Ignoring the complete and utter lack of grammar in this thread, the original build you had is not very good. It flip flops between condition and power with random utilities that don’t benefit you unless you pick either conditions w/ corruption utilities or power w/ well utilities. Also, throwing random ‘good’ traits and utilities together then calling it a ‘build’, is not how it works.
