Defending gonna be painful unless you make a guild. Theres gonna be nights when youre offline, your defender friends are gonna be offline and you will never have enough/ too many people to def.
Most guilds are corrupt from bottom to top cuz they have their own friend circles and kitteny guild leaders, so i wouldnt recommend joining any existing guild if you wanna be able to state your own opinion regarding tactics.
Anyways serverhopping is no solution. Only because youll just end up as bandvagoner in rank 1 server because guildless peeps who def and still lose mus, just quit the game being steamrolled by majority that like attacking.

I fixed mine, so might help some of you:
crashes were caused by me moving my mouse on that reward track participation on top of minimap and i noticed my reward track was stuck on 100% so i swapped reward track and it got fixed (pretty sure it was crashing before 100% as well)
Fix: Try changing you reward track. Worked for me.
Repairing or reinstalling the game didnt fix my issue but found solution myself

With the new permanent portable provisioner and as every class should be running enough blinks/clenases to get away from the first burst, trapper thief isnt that much of a problem. As you can get stealth removal traps from the provisioner. 1 is enough to kill a thief or make him stay away from you for whatever duration it has.

Overall Thief is quite weak in fair duels due to being hardcountered by DH/Scrapper.
On the other hand it hardcounters Rev/Necro.
Thief fights quite evenly with Mesmer/War, ill still give the advantage to good mesmer/war over good thief.
On the other hand, thief is strong in getting 1st engage(ganking)/escaping/chasing/being salty(adding in fair 1v1s against enemy they dont like and then disengaging).
Overall if you enjoy more aspects of WvW than being overall strong like warrior/scrapper, thief is your thing. Other classes like DH/Rev/Druid have some serious hardcounters like condi/reflects.
Mesmer is also quite strong but adding in blobfights when theres no enemy roamers/duelers makes you feel quite useless. Thief has the same problem. You might down someone and even manage to stomp him, but you will normally die in the process. Mesmer and thief excel in teamplay though, paired with a warrior or scrapper, they’ll be unstoppable and unkillable focus party.
Classes I wouldnt recommend are rev and druid, just because poor source stability and condi cleanse.
My list goes from best to worst:
Interested in all WvW action
Warrior
Scrapper
Guardian
Elementalist
Revenant
Necromancer
Mesmer
Thief
Druid
Interested in just roaming/dueling
Warrior
Mesmer (only if you’re good and know all classes)
Scrapper
Thief
Revenant
Druid
Guardian
Elementalist (Rates higher than rev if you have PvP xp on ele DF rotations and have condi Ascended gear)
Necromancer
As you can see Scrapper and Warrior vacate high spots on both lists but thief/mesmer reach their full potential when roaming. If you’re good on your class and have had lot of duels, you will know that facing anything below revenant on the dueling list, it’s gonna be pretty easy duel due to enemy being unable to kill you with proper cleanse/dodges.

will the server match ups change again? is RoS destined to be passed from server to server like an unwanted step child?
Ive been away for a couple of months, i had joined a wvw guild on gandara (which had previously left ros) but came back last night to find im now on desolation fighting against my gandara guild and then to discover ive been removed from that guild as im on a different server :/
If you’re gone for a few months out of the RoS being linked to Gandara, I cant imagine you being much contribution to the guild anyways. They most likely thought you’re just one of those guys who join a guild, no1 knows who he is, and leave the game after a few weeks. Just transfer back to Gandara, you would have had to do it eventually anyways. This is more of an guilds internal issue if they changed servers from RoS to Gandara.

Ye I want them back as well, as a PvP player, also it helps me telling who actually got to know the new meta and who didnt, how to sort out the squad etc, no-name people with amber and no badge and non-wvw-guild tag go to their own parties.
I dont understand this qq about enemy focusing you because the badge? Did you see the enemy badges in NA or something because in EU you cant see enemy badges.

Dbl has long distances and its more for guild play, and even guilds got to used for shorter distances. It doesnt have objective strategy like trebbing keep from a tower or tower from a keep but rather terrain strategy like how to avoid enemy and own annoying rock walls.
Yes DBL has plenty of space to have fights in near each keep but overall the insides of the keeps are much more unforgiving to attackers (which defenders should like), basically you can do something to enemy siege at inner keep in abl but in dbl when youre cataing youll be in a tight choke or deal with environmental bullkitten in dbl.
Being on DBL feels theres an assassin after you in real life, theres so many corners and chokes that you have to be on your toes almost always.
Yes theres good sides on DBL like north towers being much easier to flip and lords there not being particarly overpowered but they dont hold any importance anyways (and are hard to scout/flip back while youre scouting “garri”, so its not fun for scouts either) but the keeps are horrible design overall unless they make more open space near where youre cataing and remove gimmicky rock walls and invis buffs.
So Id say ill play on dbl when i feel like I can outsmart my enemy (or want to upgrade enemy garri for that matter) and theres plenty of fights there, if the map is empty or enemy/we are small , I prefer alpine.
So having 2 diff maps is superior choice, providing with me “variety”. This is of course just my opinion ofc, if people really like balance over fun. In summary ABL keeps are easier to upgrade and cover more objectives (scouts like this, supply depots are also closer to all walls in towers), Inner gates/walls are more “fun” to siege against (attackers like this) and you have enough time to come defend because you can spread arrowcarts out, because theres really only 1 spot to build catas in fire keep (slow) &1 in airkeep (only 1 ac spot for it) (defenders like this) and north towers are close from spawn + garri (also easily accessible/scouted while youre running to commander)

Actually lot of players voted to keep DBL, like I did, because we knew from earlier vote that the outcome of the next poll would be 2 alpine and 1 desert bl and playing just alpine in the future would be boring. But then anet sets a ridiculous 75% rule but seems thats not gonna stop the plan as 2 alp 1 dbl is winning with 78% atm, so I am happy.

My opinion first glance is that as most of the people dont like DBL and people who like DBL dont mind alpine bl (because i havent seen them complain here that they only spend time in EB) is that having 3 alpine would be superior option.
Once again that vote has occurred and failed.
The 2-1 that voted for DBL already stated their opinion to keep, don’t build yours upon the vocal group that post. A lot of people don’t like confrontation on the forums and avoid it. That’s why we have more vocal people on both sides that do post and over post. People that were bored with ABL went to EB/EoTM/PvP/PvE. Know some people just now going back to ABL since the DBL vote failed. Getting a lot of questions on why did I pay for HoT when HoT features keep getting dropped. And before anyone says DBL wasn’t, go look at the HoT sales page.

Yep, I think anet should (maybe) merge more servers. 3 Tiers in EU and NA should do it, maybe increase the amount of maps instead.
I think they are looking too much at server active players anyways, if germans have lot of players in their server, they shouldnt be punished for that by getting unmerged, what is I heard happening. At least 2 tiers should be removed in EU and 1 in NA.
Anyways NA is in bad spot atm, the glicko difference in EU tiers is less than 100, in NA its up to 300, its just stupid and NA glicko should be reset or at least reset to something like

Ok so PvE players are QQing about having to do a little WvW for each legendary.
At least you guys have money to make legendary, You guys have more magic find from all the loots, you can run magic find foods, you get 3 times more money than us, your foods and utility effects cost less, you guys have higher chance of precursor.
Its easy to get the gift of battle anyways, now you just have to do some, not much, wvw for it, preferably edge of the mists. Just hope this wont bring too many PvE scrubbers to WvW.
Farming Durability runes in PvE was a must for WvW players for a while, now its your time to suffer, muahahahhaha, payback.

What they should do is:
1) Make so that you can queue in PvP while youre in PvE
2) Add crafting stations in PvP lobby
So all PvE players will be in PvP, PvP players in PvE and WvW players in WvW

I want a city map with big streets, parks, routes from roof to roof and entrances to houses and upstairs. Small, simple but many layers
Streets could be big enough so a blob can walk without people pewpewing at them. Also it would be easy to take some ideas from games like counterstrike or overwatch.
Keeps could be rich guys homes and towers could be “a house”, where you break a wall etc. Dollies could be cars !!

All servers have starting WP in SMC, SM being invuln zone,neutral and without outer walls and gates, theres no portal to enter sm, you can only jump out of it.

- King of The Hill
SM is replaced with a Ruinlike circle on a hill, no walls or gates, Whoever caps it, owns SM. Siege deployement blocked

I will go to dbl for following reasons
1) enemy wont have siege or scouts there
2) my server needs points and enemy wont cap it back in next hours
3) If I am feeling depressed and I want to see depressing landscape
4) Because its not as bad as people think since the changes and it will be there to stay, so i have to get used to it.

I liked those weekly events like the golem week and lunar year siege. So I figured we could post some ideas here that anet can “steal”.
My ideas would be:
- NA – EU (- CN) week
a Few linked NA servers vs a few EU servers (vs a few china servers, which most likely is not doable)
Would be fun to show NA players their place, laggy but still fun
- Double Movement Speed Week
People move 100% faster, swiftness or superspeed has no effect. More speed, more sneakiness, more action, messier fights
- Ratapults and Cams
Catapults damage gates and Rams walls.
- PPT is Halved or Removed week
- No Arrowcarts week
- 1 tier week, but 12 maps instead of 4
all servers merged to 3 servers for 1 week, Eotm styyyle
- Noahs Ark week
Insides of Lords room are filled with water, underwater combat
- No dollies week
Dollies wont spawn, objectives wont upgrade
- Theme Weeks
- Halloween, valentines themes etc, get a random related skin whenever you respawn etc, like a skeleton or ghost in halloween. (like ascalonian ghost tonic, you can still cast spells). Environment changed, withered trees, darker lightning etc at halloween. Nothing that affects gameplay

Servers like Kodash and Piken can get queues on 3-4 maps on primetime, gandara and deso can cover maybe 1 map.
They just have active playerbase that plays outside primetime so they got linked, as linking is based on numbers of active players, not how many hours are covered. Maybe just make your server “more fun” and organised to play in so the people would cover more hours instead of just logging in for a few hours a week? Gandara and Deso both have Active/working community guilds so they dont have trouble gathering numbers, how is your servers community guild faring?
Anyways, Vabbis got active because they were linked to Deso, RoS is getting active now because being linked to Deso. Its just up to which server is fun to play in.
Piken has eventualy a queue on EB and/or one border IF there is a big name commander is tagging up. There wasn’t any queue on 3+ maps since after the week we got alpine back.
However we have people playing outside of prime time.
I guess, what I heard, from a piken commander, is that piken has 3-4 comms on primetime on though, while deso has 1, 2 rarely. Guess Pikens just scattered while Desos blobbing

So metabattle.com has some basic NA wvw builds which are somewhat viable, theyre surprisingly similar to what EU runs, scrubbier tho. Maybe it’s better if you are an ele, find a open guild raid and ask ele from that guild what gear is he running.
Regarding getting ascended gear:

I never had trouble with condi. 28s of condi immunity (7s healing sig, 14s bersk stance, 7s healing sig) and 1 condi removed every 5s is enough for my Marauder berserk really. Marauder op cuz it gives vit (counters condis and precision turns into ferocity from traits). ill guess you dont have HoT so you run vanilla foods and warrior, cuz dura runes better to counter condi (more stats, resistance, protection and regen)

My build has pack runes cuz theres not really much might on the build to rely on strength runes, strength runes have more burst but I still feel they have less overall sustain damage (-125 precision, -12s fury every 20s, but 5% damage increase(fury makes up for it) and ~90 power). Pack works in group better anyways.
Anyways things I see to improve with your build, I do not have much against vanilla or hammer warriors:
1) you have 2 leeching sigils with 9s cd and 5s cd on weaponswap (swap one of them to energy, 1s damage immunity and you damage on dodge roll with strength traits, or air/blood on GS you want to)
2) merciless hammer, if running hammer, is obviously better than quickness under 50% health
3) You didnt put stats on your weapon

Ye mb a log on 3rd tab of the keep/tower so people can see which guild put tactivator in and who is using it. Then the guild that has the objective claimed can just ban the person using a tactivator from any of their claimed objectives.

Seafarers rest just got on a bad spot when they got stripped from rank 1 by doubleteaming, the wvw died and guilds died in SFR after their PPT and EotM crews got kitten d.
Competitive guild scene is dead though, it died like 6 months before HoT because the staleness of the game mode, after TA had no opposition, lot of guilds like GH, TA etc stopped raiding completely. Theres a few guilds remaining like Ash (on deso), TNG (riverside), rXd(riverside), DayZ(kodash) fighting for nr1 guild spot but dont think any of them will last very long unless some of the old guild leaders come back and reform guilds.
Even if they come back, the game has changed completely and they have to spend a day to get new armor(and lot of people will suggest wrong armor stats, like NA meta is marauder armor on guardian while some guilds on EU run Crusader or wanderer or soldier, if someone advices you wrong, it’s just meh.), another for sigils, 3rd for foods, 4th for dura runes and a few months to get to know the new Specializations. Those few months of getting rekt and regearing your characters makes a lot of them quit the game again :p

Better option) have 3 different bls, 1 for every server
good sides: Lot of Variety, More activity, Data can be used to Balance EB (as green side is clearly strongest)
bad sides: Unbalanced home bls, server with “best” map will get focused most
Criers Option) Have 3-4 diff kind of bls that swap weekly
good sides: Variety, activity, balanced
bad sides: Dead weeks (which might be good, servers will find more enemies on active weeks), EB will still be unbalanced, reset issues
I do not see 3 months or even 1 month of hated DBL being good, it’s that long of a period that the gamemode will die.

If scouts complain about not being able to scout while crafting, boohoo, get some friends, get server community guild or something, WvW is a teamgame, I lost plenty of garries cuz I had to go craft ascended gear.
Because leaving the borderlands in order to craft your gear will make your response time better… Logic?
Losing an objective because you were doing something non-wvw related is not that big of a deal. We have community guild on desolation and we invite people of our linked server to it. We kick people not on server in it, you can see who is on the server from achievement page in guild wars page. Its just arrangement issue, there doesnt need to be a leader or any discussion in the community guild, just invite all scouts in it and you will feel much safer.
It solves more issues than brings to myself as a person who likes to play on home border. Also I do not like the fact that if i go to Gandara bl, I know we will beat Gandara in fights because they have 10-20 man smaller blob. Crafting stations make fights worse and defending against big numbers as well.
Maybe its not an issue in NA because you run small groups anyways but if you had faced 80 man Far shiverpeaks blob on home bl everyday last summer with only 30 man defending with queue on map, you would agree that this change is good.

Its a great move, thx Anet, has been issue for past 2 years.
Being from the biggest PvE server Europe, Desolation, it has been huge problem having 15+ people afk at crafting stations at primetime crafting something.
Also when were losing fights people go afk crafting something instead of leaving map.
People can still access their personal bank in WvW by using guild registrar.
HotM bank was closer anyways.
Theres crafting stations in other cities than LA. If you wanna “craft your sharpening stones” just check do you have enough at the start of MU and make sure you have enough for whole MU or something, its just a change in crafting style (crafting once a week takes less time overall than crafting sharpening stones every day as well)
If scouts complain about not being able to scout while crafting, boohoo, get some friends, get server community guild or something, WvW is a teamgame, I lost plenty of garries cuz I had to go craft ascended gear.
Desert bls were empty though so I crafted there, not on alpine maps, whenever there was outnumbered buff there was enemy blob (cuz no roamers on dead maps, no1 on EU likes desert maps). But hopefully we will have 2 alpine and 1 dbl so we will have 1 dead border in EU and 2 alive border.

What I do not understand is that why can 25% of the people decide for 75%.
Why cant it just be 50% vote. I mean this vote could be just reversed that it requires 75% to have 3 months of alpine and 3 months of dbl considering the other option won in the last poll.

Its cool, id like to have vabbi+deso merged since first day, just because i like them.
Id also like anet to delink us so we can have more even matchups and better fights.
But my friends are in deso, vabbi is just nice extra.
I doubt deso will be linked in next unlinking and our wvw organisation will become horrible again. I am afraid of the consequences but it must be done because we are BORED from everyone bandvagoning to deso+vabbi.
Anet should have closed vabbi when deso was marked full, now their only option is new pairings.

Regarding GvG guilds, there isnt many. Deso has 1, ash, the strongest one, you most likely wont get in with na level. Piken(tS and some others, think bM disbanded) and gandara(RoC, eN, vE + some others) have very nice guilds to join tho. Riverside has strong guilds(rXd, tng + bunch others) as well. gandara and RS are guildwisemost active in tier 1 to t3. Below that, only server with some roaming activity and bunch of guilds is Aurora Glade, that apparently has very toxic community, if you enjoy drama.

Oh ye and ganking culture is strong in deso and gandara.
Deso has no real roaming guilds. Gandara has some good and bad ones. Sfr also has multiple roaming guilds. Gandara ones being more active in WvW but sfr ones I have actually met in pvp (cake, Va) thus are higher quality.

If you want to roam in eu, most roamers are in gandara, desolation, seafarers rest. I wouldnt go to any of those servers if you want to have lot of different fights.
Piken has ftw guild for roamers with some small scale opemraids. But i recommend the guild only if you like roaming with unique specs like scepter eles, condi mesmers and power necros. They all get hardcountered
Quite hard by deso/gandara/sfr PvP legendary level roamers. I can even beat them in 2v1(i win all 1v1s in leg level eu pvp with my scrap)
If you dont use teamspeak, national servers are more active during day and like capping small stuff (youre a loner), move to one, riverside being strongest out of national servers.
Also idk why this persons complaining about deso attitude, ye sure we have lot of scrubs interrupting duels/manning sm cannons, but thats just cuz only reason those people can even walk out of spawn is that theyre being carried by numbers/other quality roamers.

I reached legendary in EU PvP scene and I had short queues even in High diamond, but now that i have some pips in legend, 17 to be exact, I cant get a match even during primetime.
To be honest I am kinda thinking of dropping whole PvP for a few weeks because its tedious to sit in queue for hour+ stuck in HotM when theres supposed to be most people playing. I think something should be done about this to fix the PvP scene, otherwise all good players will just stop playing.
My solution to long queue times would be that if people would be able to queue for pvp while in WvW/PvE, the queue times wouldnt be that long because more people queueing when it isnt so tedious to stand around PvP lobby.
I know it might bring some issues like airheads having wrong weaponsets or people not accepting the queue, but those would be mostly issue of lower divisions where this stuff happens anyways.
Also to remind anet to fix this bug if they decide to implement this:
1) if youre in loading screen while your wvw queue pops, you dont get in WvW but end up in the end of the queue, I dont wanna see this problem in PvP queues.

Revenant or scrapper. Rev better in big fights, scrap requiring more skill and pvp experience.
Scrapper better for soloing groups and disabling due to sustain/stealth/superspeed combo.
Anyways both have high mobility, but id recommend rev if you cant play scrap on top gvg level
With ele, mesmer or thief youll get get hardcountered by high sustain and dps classes like the 2 above.
Warriors great with the recent buffs, just has less escapes after iniating combat and realising its lost fight

At reset night we had real queue on our home bl, deso bl, for like 2 hours and whoever got in, had outnunbered buff. The queue was like 10-20 long and lasted 10 min max.. Either there was 50 trolls requeueing all the time or the games just broken.

-move the lords room below the inner gates to make it easier for attackers to reach it. Defenders can of course still build acs but not for billionrange distance. Gates can still have some kind of easier to reach ac spots above or mb the ac spots can be below hitting through glass thats on front of the gate.

Nerfing PPT during night and Buffing PPK and nerfing night capping would make PPK too strong. Its already hard enough to make 280+ tick during day when all servers are playing and defending their home bls.
PPK already makes like 20-30k difference on MUs which with 280 vs 180 tick which is about the same as ticking 100 more as enemy 8 hours a day 7 days a week.
So if they nerf effect of Nightcapping, PPK should not be buffed, it already makes up for ticking 100 more than enemy for 8 hours a day

Shield gens can still place bubble on them to defend against ac fire(on the edge), so basically placing them on somewhere like veloka corner and placing the bubble edge on them, prevents them from all siege damage except treb facing veloka from OW(which normally isnt there).
Also once you cap a tower (bravost etc), where you can use same shield gen tactic by placing them against the wall, then bubbling (it will defend against mortars etc from keep), you can place them inside the tower,where theyre safe from siege damage, and bubble the trebs on the wall from there.
I think some nerf on bubble duration(or radius so they cant bubble themselves against ac fire) could also be viable.

I feel like its enough that 2 shield generators can block all ac, treb, mortar, ballista, omega fire and disablers. This is already being abused by EU t1 servers.
I dont mind the siege cost shield-gen has, 80 supply for siege-invuln siege(2 generators) is decent. + It adds a lot of strategical siege gameplay in this gamemode (also i think theyre required in the game because the new borderlands have much harder inner gates/walls to take down)
However the issue I am finding is that siege generators are too tanky. They should be destroyable by a snipe group instead of being able to take a bomb from 10 people and still keep standing. And they shouldnt be able to take treb shots without being destroyed.
What I am suggesting either range (currently 3750 range on guild generator) nerf, supply nerf (50% supply cost increase) or generators are made easier to destroy (maybe 3 times ac hp or something similar)
