Actually id like to get few things straight:
1) t5 EU has had more kills than t4, t3,t2, it’s not dead there, its actually more alive than most of the EU servers, they just dont play outside daytime (which means daytime is even more active). Removing the servers is not the solution, because that would mean there would be multiple overstacked server with bad players.
2) The reason WvW is dying is because the players/commanders are getting worse.
Players getting worse might be due to HoT skillcap, which is hard for people to even break thro the average level in skills/gear, but yeah. But I think it might be due to disinterest to the gamemode itself so people still use their PvE gears (which were fine before HoT)
Commanders are getting worse due to guilds disbanding, guild leads not leading open raids etc etc, people not interested in joining guilds. The best balance would be if the players would be as good as the commanders, so the commander wouldn’t feel despair from everyone dying too fast and the players would actually follow the commander instead of afk at spawn
(there’s a few EU servers known for this, mostly national and deso/gandara)
3) people dont want to win anymore
The game has been going on for like 4-5 years(?), People who are on lower servers, know that it would take too much effort to even climb 1 or 2 tiers, so there’s no point. So PPT is neglected thus less PPT groups to fight. People are not used to PPT so they log out/afk after 1-2 towers. New commanders wont have a chance to get better because ALL good commanders have done a lot of ppt at some point.
Big text with a lot of things, necessary fixes would be most likely:
1) No linkings, make permanent servers with 1000 gem transfers to t3-4, 500 to t5 , lock t1 and t2. (this means all ppters stack to t1 and they get lower qualityfights, fightservers to t3 to allow transfers)
2) Remove empty desert border, it still doesnt have enough kills to varrant keeping it as WvW is dying.
3) Add ascended armor and make the max obtainspeed require PPT to remove the PPK mentality. Maybe way to do it would be to having amount of tokens to buy it limited separately from both PPT and kills so people have to PPT and kills things to get ascended armor faster, but they will still get it half as fast without another.
4) Remove half of the keep claim buff, nerf fortified gates, reduce shield gen bubble duration. Make siege do 100% more damage to other siege, because you already buffed siege hp by 100%, but you didnt do this. This is to reduce Siegebunkering and the “defending bonus”. Because the 400 stat + 25% Movement speed buff is worth more than difference between exotic-ascended. With presence of the keep its twice as much.
I tried to explain everything to the detail that everyone will understand the point but obviously the words are limited. Anet cant do much about people being bad or not wanting to win but they can solve most of the things like this.
Of course I could write a wall of text about how to fix class balance and other stuff., but yeah those i will save to another day or maybe dev will whisper me or something.

Theres patch every 2 weeks. I think every patch had something WvW related.
There was a vote related to in which order they should do stuff in. Think there was scoring balances with nightcap changes first and last was QoL changes that were minor making game easier to play etc. Not sure what the middle one was

I can move my minimap to top right corner of my map, which I love because then I can see fight better.
Is it possible to add same kind of system to party window?
Id like to be able to move that bottom right so i can see allies hp/conditions near my own boons, conditions and skill cooldowns.
Also id like my own name to be different colour in party window for clarity.
I know it might not be a priority for the WvW team but as it would affect PvE and PvP as well, it might be able to be Outsourced to another group or something.
Sure there could be other changes as well, like options and stuff, but even small change like that would make me happy

Stop being paranoid, guys! I’m sure there is a perfectly reasonable explanation as to why WvW has been left behind regarding Ascended rewards.

Then why doesnt it show? and dont even say it does because it clearly does not have the same atention spvp or pve gets.
Lets see what we got past 15 months:

- Autoloot
- Elite specs
- Commendation system
- Class balanceupdates
- Theres a bit less skill lag
- Borderland changes 3 times due to QQ
- Autoupgrades and new upgrade system
- New scoring systems (multiple times)
- PPK increase
- Server Linkings
- New downed system
^They were all great changes, desert needs to be removed now tho because no1 plays it (check deaths on each map)
Stop qq, theyre doing their best. Programming and designing isnt like “hey ill add this line of code here”. They gave us everything we asked on forums, they made compromises between alpine and desert cuz people didnt know what they want, they gave us autoloot and changed what we can use heroics on because people asked more to do it on.
I bet they will remove desert bl and add ascended armor soon. After that REMEMBER that they do what you ask for. No reason to be negative about it

Ye, your probably right.
Another way that actually will time-gate the armor (meaning it cant be Ktrained/farmed to get) would be to add a weekly (or monthly) achievement. Player kills, keep captures/defense etc. Tokens awarded upon completion. Obtaining a full set of armor should take roughly 3-4 months or so. Weapons a month each (1h 2 weeks, 2h 4 weeks). It makes a single piece achievable in the short term but a full set requires people to come back to WvW (if they choose to only obtain the armor in this way).Your suggested rate is way too slow. Currently some people have gotten 5 pieces of ascended armor from mere 10 hours of spvp. Why WvWvW ascended rewards should be over 20 times slower?
WvWvW needs significantly improved rewards. The easiest way for developers would simply add new items for WvWvW vendors e.g. ability to buy ascended backpiece, ascended weapons and ascended armor + fractal related things (e.g. Glob of Coagulated Mists Essence) using proofs of heroics and/or badges of honor and/or laurels and/or gold.
Yes, but they can ONLY get those 5 pieces for the whole season.
My suggestion was a permanent addition to WvW.
And adding a new currency should be the way it is done so as to not promote Ktraining for the loot3-4 months is a long time for a complete set. Would make WvW the slowest way to get a full set. Would really need to depend on how much you play. I’d say maybe could go all out and get a piece a day. Maybe on average a piece every few days?
Dont forget that you also keep the old loot, you get 3-4 pieces per year anyways from reward tracks + rankups. Also 3-4 months per full set would mean 3-4 sets per year, which would mean 9-12 sets EXTRA per 3 years, I dont think its that bad considering theres 9 classes

Well tbf if the PvP and WvW groups are separate entities so obviously there would be some kind of delay as PvP group released theirs and WvW group has to work on unique skins and balancing the income now.

Stealth traps are ok, they take so long to deploy. Also thief 1v5ing is just waste of time for the 5, so the thief is just trolling, cuz he cant finish downs with 4 people ressing.
Anyways I find using stealth traps against blobs most useful, you just place it and enemy gets revealed for 30s, it kittens up guilds, thieves, mesmers, scrappers, veils etc. The high target cap is little gimmicky and could use a nerf i guess.

Servers seem stacked but 1 or 2 good commanders can shift the scale completely. Good commanders can defeat 50% bigger blobs and get more people on tag/server.
The whole point of tiers is that servers with 24/7 coverage are on t1 etc. If commanders cant gather numbers because they’re too dumb/ragy or guild leads are not tagging up, that’s the servers problem.
Also maybe you guys didn’t realise but its more fun to play against stacked server than with them due to more fights available around the clock.
I feel like EB is the balancing issue with the HoT, it’s so snowbally with guild claim buffs/tactics now in SM, upgrade times are like 4 times less now and SM will be full of siege most of the time because upgrading doesnt take supplies. After server has 24/7 t3 sm, they will have bigger numbers, more siege, more commanders etc, cuz it allows EZ mode, dont have to think, enemy will come to you and wipe. Also its near impossible to lose with all the siege.

I think the best way to introduce ascended armor into WvW (i made a post about it but it didnt attract any attention) is to add a new currency to reward tracks.
Specifically, the WvW reward tracks (Hero Weapon, Triumphant Armor and Gift of Battle).
Then add a new vendor with the armor/weapons available.
New Currency + BadgesAdding new currencies doesn’t make sense. One should be able to buy ascended using existing currencies, mainly proofs of heroics and badges of honor.
Actually adding new currencies is the only option. People will start from the same spot and dont have to waste their heroics or badges on ascended armor as they’re meant for HoT stuff +siege + foods.
I am not sure what’s the optimal way to obtain the currency, I dont think passive playstyle like reward tracks is the solution. There’s so many ways to abuse the reward tracks including botting, ruins and dolyaks. Maybe just make them wallet currency inside Rankup chests so they’re related to wxp. Another option is to get some randomly from killing enemies and keep/tower lords but this one seems little hard to balance around considering the activity hours in different tiers.

I’ll answer you with the mechanics and traits so you understand as well.
1) Stability, AoE Stab, there’s not a single class that can take enough stab solo to keep running around without getting constantly CCd. Also allows other classes to take better traits and skills.
2) Altruistic healing and strength in numbers: Gives guardian most effective hp due to every AoE boon healing 400, means 4 boon skill like f1 would heal yourself 1600. Sin is practically 750 armor which is massive
3) Retaliation and purging flames: Reta basically returns almost all damage you take (300+ per reta) as you take max 1000 damage from each hit with proper build. Purging flames has no target cap so it does massive damage as well.
4) Party sustain: Aegis can block up to 3000 damage per application, protection gives 50% more effective armor (is up to 1500 extra armor), loads of cleanse. Dodges heal 600+, Aegis heals 1k, receive the light 8k, regen 150/sec, orb 1300. All AoE heals.
5) Weapon CC: GS 5, Hammer 3 and 5, staff 5 always score a kill if you manage to save them to perfect spot where necros corrupt boons.

In practice its kinda easy, all you have to learn to do:
- You use stab when your stab is about to run out (blinking stab icon above skills + 3 second wait)
- You use lower cd skills first then move to higher cd skills
- You learn the distance where necros bombs from, and dodge when you believe enemy is dropping bomb. Only class that can kill you is a necromancer really.
- You sustain your party properly with dodges, energy sigils, orbs and aegis procs, saving your f2 for panic button.
- You stunbreak instantly if your party/you are in danger
- You save your CC skills like lines (+ purges) when enemy has no stab and drop it correctly behind enemy melee to cut their retreat.
- You stack might properly with blocks, empowers and f1s before spikes.
^ It’s somewhat easy to do everything to some extent, but doubt anyone is doing everything correctly so there’s definitely something to think about during combat, also its the reason its fun. I dont understand how someone can say guardian is easy, good guards are hard to come by ^^
DH is ok on paper but in practice not worth it due to missing Honor heals and purging flames. Also all the unblockable stuff going around and DH f2f3 being harder to hit allies with. Roaming DH is ok due to self sustain but turns useless for the party if enemy has 1 good aurashare ele or necromancer.

Desert would be okay, but its just empty on European servers, unless you face Germans.
So can you please remove it, at least on EU? I play it sometimes, but its just pointless because there’s never enemies.
You can even check the KD amount from gw2timer.com and see that Desert map has less than 3rd of the deaths compared to any other map. So it even gives less points so its not worth going to unless resetting ohjectives, as most points during daytime come from kills.
I voted to keep it because I knew they’d just make one border desert, but since they revived WvW with the linkings, id take my vote back because 1 “useless” map is too much when you have 3 map queued on almost all EU servers and no1 wants to go to the desert one.
So please, remove or remake the map. Its just not popular or useful at all. I know some people like it, so if you wanna keep it, make it at least SMALLER or add some kind of out-of-combat portals to move around the map.
Past voting means nothing if it’s not remade after the effects were negative, so stop living in 10 months in past where people voted to keep the map. Everything that matters is the result, and it was no good.

I didnt start playing PvP this season yet due to me spending 2 weeks at my relatives and I am wondering whetever to bother.
Is it worth? I guess ill be placed around 1500s due to only playing up til legend on seasons. I see considerably less qq than last seasons. How long does it take to take ascended armor/weapon if you play like 10 hours a day?
Is power rev viable? Ele still thrash for solo I guess? I can pretty much play all classes except thief.. I just need to choose my flavour of the month.

Spawnganking or being spawnganked is kind of fun, its fun fights instead of constant ppt. Who cares about points, fix your builds and get better first, after that you can ktrain all you want.
Now for the solutions. server that is being spawnganked; ask yourself: 1)are you missing revs 2) do you have druids? Answer is most likely to both yes.
Now you can rage at your allies for playing a class that takes 10+ seconds to kill a single enemy.
within 10s they can just go ooc and reset hp. Druid is just kitteneless class in most wvw scenarios, even more so at spawnganking scenarios.

The new system is ok, the fighting server will win at least 3 skirmishes around primetime due to ppk accounting over 50% score during those hours.
People complaining about snowballing, the value of winning skirmish is actually same: 1st place gets double of average of 2nd and 3rd. Now 2nd place just will be just pointless and 3rd place not so bad, so you have to focus getting 1st and you wont lose as much from failing to beat the 1st and ending 3rd due to one server being idiotic.
Dont forget the system is also glicko based so ideally if you just focus higher glicko server, you will go up in rankings as long as you manage to get them 2nd even if you end up 3rd.

DH was kitten anyways, in both zergs and roaming, now they can spec for condiduration and be at least 0 skill killnoobs players.
Its just impossible to balance a supportive class to deal damage and fill the guardian role… Either you give up stab upkeep+heals for dh to be able to do half the rev damage or just stick with honor/virtues to keep the full rev damage alive in your party.
Its kinda obvious choice to me.
Also roaming dh/guard doesnt do enough damage with all the nerfs to be legit pick over others, regardless of gear. Its just a noobkiller now.

I guess its a situation similar to EU; fsp is the fighting powerhouse (read: disbanded gvg guilds retirementhome) here and theres bunch of people, most of them people who got bored of facerolling enemy in fsp, transferring to whichever server has enough people to challenge them in ppt(to stay in same on tier)/fights to get a decent enemy for blobfights. Basically EU has 2 fightingservers consisting of fsp and anti-fsp players. We tried to make 3rd but its just not doable because lack of active commanders.
Now NA doesnt have national and international servers, so situation here is little different, basically getting matched up with 2 national servers is horrible, cuz they get 1-pushed in fights 6 nights/week → because they basically run the metabattle builds, with marauder guards and other horrible builds, which are NA meta that are crap.<- you were looking for salt right?
So our only chance is to try to get 2 international fighting servers on same tier to get decent fights

Population inbalance will never be solved until we get enough people off-prime overall. Theres only 4 servers on EU that have 20+14 hours a day. Playing on/against any lower numbers with bad commander is boring af.
Make commanders and players interested first, season will do just that. Yes, some servers will start losing but overall WvW population will rise, some old popular commanders will come back and some of them will stick around.
Ppk already wins ppt on points, by far, so theres no reason to follow the “ppt commanders”. At least it will make things interesting and fix “the lack of population to balance”.
Maybe have a season and overlap it with some permanent reward/matchmaking changes so people will stick around after its over?

Plz, I want to see a tourney, I never saw one and I have been playing/commanding the gamemode almost 3 years.
I dont care if the tournament is only 1 week or so, i just wanna see all guilds hyped up and people getting active again. I mean obviously people who are not interested wont play, but do they really matter?
Edit: and tbf ppk outplays ppt by far when players are active. Dead hours average points are like 3k per skirmish. On prime i see numbers like 10k foe each servers in t1 so it will be more of fightblobfest for those who smart

Lemme tell you a secret about fighting thieves as necros, theres a reason they go ooc range, its because you want to chase them and you waste more cds than they do. Now lets say you have conditions keeping you in combat, do you chase the thief? Ofc not, you go opposite way, they thief comes again but this time with 0 cds or 0 iniative (he wasted iniative + cds to escape, and more to chase you). Then you just burst him down with spite traits, ez shroud entrance(3k) + spinal (2k+)+ hydro (2k+)+ chilling nova(3k+) + air sigil proc(1k+) and whatever else you wanna throw in there and gg thief is dead. With good luck you will also corrupt the might on him and he will do 0 damage next 10 seconds
Now, if you dont play this build while roaming, then you’re most likely condi necro or an idiot, which means, well cancer for cancer.
Edit: For the plebs that didnt know; might turns into 10s weakness and shroud entrance = spiteful spirit

Figured id make this one as I need to list some bugs. Other people can use same Thread as well.
Bugs I have noticed:
-Spectral Grasp says obstructed sometimes when it obviously isnt (WvW)
- Greatsword pull 5 sometimes go through enemies doing nothing, not even damage (WvW)
- Focus 4 can hit multiple targets multiple times in a row during enemy movement skills
Tooltip bugs:
Axe 3 and Spiteful spirit trait don’t show how many boons they remove since the boon removal buff to them
Mostly id like the greatsword 5 pull to be fixed because I am trying to drop staff in WvW. Also would be cool if you can include some kind of slight range indicator for gravedigger because making charr/norn necro is not the smartest idea for WvW and asura is so hard to tell on

Yeah, happens a lot. Exspecially when you use transform kills like lich form, mist form or wp back.
2 things i have noticed:
- it has tendency to happen if youre alt tabbed or doing something on 2nd screen when blobfight happens
- since i got better pc with ssd, it turned from daily problem to monthly one.
So definitely hardware and internet connection affects it.

Meh, who wants to actually log in to do dailies. Also you dont transfer with real life money but skip making that 1 extra legendary

But ye I have 2 accs but I was content before with 1. Would most likely be atm as well with transfer being only 500 gems, I only use my 2nd acc sometimes.
As frequently tagging up commander, I dont run into problem of having no1 to follow/fight. Sure if youre a puggie on server with bad comms, you want 2nd acc.

The current guild upgrades are balanced and not that much of a gamechanger. Only presence of the keep and watchtower could use some tuning down. If you put that car/dolly upgrades in a camp, you better be prepared to have 5 people defending that camp/dolly.
Speedy dollies reduce upgrade time by 33%, not big of a deal since 2engis could replace that permasuperspeed.
Are you that surprised though?
I have 0 legendaries because i buy my own siege and superexpensive foods. Its my choice to run with just ascended.
You should stop thinking that game world is ideal world where everythings nicely set so that newbies can do stuff without doing anything. Its all about progress. You bow your head to some guild, pull right strings and boom, you got the advantage over others. Its reminds me of real world, which might be a good thing to prepare some people.
I have seen people run with rare gear because they were too dumb to know that exotics are basically free with badges, karma or reward tracks. And ascended was the necessary progress to keep the game interesting at some point. Now its guild upgrades and such. Soon every smart guy has access to them. Then they add new elite specs (5 already confirmed) and possibly 3rd borderland
something to think about, eh?

I have learnt over time that loyalty to the server is not the same as staying inbred community. You transfer to know the techs and mechs on other side of the fence. This exspecially applies to commanders: if you never experience anything new, you stop progressing.
My tip for everyone is: transfer at least once, you dont need to make any friends or take your whole guild with you, and go back to your “home” after few weeks/months with your enbroadened vision of wvw. Repeat this everytime things get too “stale” for you to enjoy, you also bring some of new knowledge to friends as souvenir. Of course joining server voice comms is requirement for this to work

Druid is ok, longbow is useless. Issue is that its like thief, self boons and such. It doesnt fill single target burst role or caster role but might have some use in melee train needing 2 guards for stab. Issue is that melee party is already 2 guard + rev + necro. Do you really want 5th to be druid? Id rather take another guardian… Or even scrapper. Necro is not replaceable. Rev is just too strong at melee clashes to skip.
Maybe you could play tanky druid with 2 dhs to provide sustain, but would you better than minstrel ele? Doubt it.
Every big zerg needs a solo ress bot tho,but do you wanna play that? Maybe not.
Staff is ok overtime but youd rather take another necro with axe 2+ focus 5 single target damage + unblockable wellbomb (mesmers are good because gravity well makes necro wells stronger).
Pets well, are useless if on backfoot. And on equal fights, its impossible to be gamechanger as druid. Necro/ele/war/rev can at least score 3+ kills solo on bomb.

Fsp is blobby with quality community but little worse commanders. Fsp goes to sleep really early though. Deso and piken are more inconsistent at fights but fun nevertheless. I think piken has 0 real fight commanders atm so pikens at bad spot going down. Gandara might go up and is more untouched by bandvagoners like you, if you like feeling at home (read: slacking)

Crafting is cool but barely part of WvW. Sure you make foods and armors, but normally you back and forth to tp for that.
LA has enjoyable chat, i dont mind going there, but if you hate LA go to hoelbrak or something with shorter loadingscreens.
I dont want people crafting on my home bl, sure if they scout, but otherwise no thanks. For example i know a dude who used to spend hours each day on home bl making money with tp+crafting stations and there was 10 other people doing the same. Thx for queues mate.
I like wvw, you flip 2 camps and want to craft for it, ok cool, youre useful at 3 am for the server, but rest of the day that camp will flip within 2 mins to some real wvw player anyways.
They buffed ppk btw, you pve crafters with full zerk gear will just feed enemy campflippers points.
There i am aware I was rude but i think it was necessary to get you guys away from spending 30 min doing nothing for the server at spawn. We wvwers already have enough afks amongst ourselves

Now that I thought about it more, maybe there doesnt need to be 5 ruins, 3 would be enough. Or possibly even just 1 at the middle you would have to hold for 3 -5min and the jump pads would go next to it and away from it towards 5 different platforms ^^
1 Ruin would be nice considering game pop has went down a bit. And actually 1 guy could cap the bloodlust himself (the time would have to be bit increased tho I believe, so defenders wouldnt have so much issue with every roamer) ^^

I will skip the talk about flaws and good sides of desert bls so there wont be too much salt on this thread about them. As if that is possible.
Id like to see some changes towards the middle area of desert Bls, its completely useless at the moment with the Powercore event removed. My idea for it would be that they add bloodlust ruins to desert border with a little change. There would be like jump pads that would take you the next ruin (thus bloodlust cappers can help defend the other ruin easier, and defenders can manage to cover more ruins in the 2 minutes). Also it would help getting around the map faster if the pads and ruins are placed smartly (they can be more apart than in alpine borders).
As I see the pads would work like this: each ruin would have 2 pads towards left/right ruin. So it would take 2 pads to go whichever ruin you want. You cant use the Pads when youre in combat. You get revealed when you use a pad. Youre invuln for really short duration when you land (to prevent traps).

Lot of you guys who play lot of wvw have most likely realised that currently taking t3 tower with watchtower guild upgrade is near impossible with smaller group.
Whole promotion campaign of when HoT came out was anet claiming that people dont need to run bigger group to cap stuff due to desert bls. Now that desert borders are only 1/3 of borders, I believe sniping would require some kind of a buff.
Claim buffs are cool itself but it+guild upgrades+t3 gates are bit overkill regarding defence.
Would you remove t3 gates or watchtower ugrade if you had to choose one?

They should open up Desolation yeah, we can get queue on map only with a good commander on primetime. But let them take a few days at it so we can see who abandons the ship first, they wont be coming back with 1800 gem cost :P

Actually, EU T1 servers dont do it, because our revenants actually know how to rotate resistance and people are willing to relog/change builds based on enemy.
If you’re complete noob and havent realised the red circles on ground that can get 10 condis on you suddenly and kill you instantly, you most likely stepped on a wellbomb thus you died from power damage. Conditions are linked with power, purging flames do 1000 per tick even on power build with max might + cele trinks.

I remember winning some 10 v 40s, not all enemies are good. And those were the best fights I had, even though enemy sucked. If you really wanna remove this from future generations, yeah :/
btw get gud, if you havent won 10v40 ever against the noobiest servers in your tier, you’re most likely bad as well :/ Siege is in this game for reason, and you can always make last stand in keep lords room with cannons.

Idk why condi is so toxic, it is just a noob killer that works only against rangers. The moment condi necro tries to roam and meets a rifle warrior, it is rip for him. And in Zerg fights you cannot ramp up nowhere near the same damage as power specs because the cleanses/resistance. Of course if you make full blob of condi to hide Burnguard damage, you can get somewhere.
And Roamingwise condi is no good, except if youre mesmer and in that case you have to run away everytime you see more than 1 enemy with proper build.

I can solo everything in DBL with scrapper, air keep being the hardest. With rev I have some issues with fire keep. All keeps are easy with Hammer DH with heal trap. Done Air keep with full cele ele but it took ages.
I like they brought the borders back tho, they should still adress the upgrade speed issues, SM and DBL upgrading way too fast.

Scrapper – Has Everything, but is not that great at anything

Scrapper is melee backline killer with lot of stealth/invuln/blocks. Has access to Rampage/tornado, AoE moa, Waterfields, lot of condiclenase and reflects. In normal melee train, scrappers are quite useless compared to warriors/reapers in spike damage. But scrapper has lot of access to enemy backline thro stealth/leaps and can easily solo bunch of enemies and hold a smaller group off from a flank, as a scrapper you want to avoid enemy guardians as much as possible. Isn’t good at tagging loot.

Run more knight trinkets if enemy is very melee heavy, Toolkit instead of elixir gun if ranged heavy.
Revenant – Unkillable boon monster
Revenant has taken a spot as unreplaceable part of melee next to guardian.
Melee Hammer rev is more popular and provides resistance + 50% damage reduction to allies with lots of constant burst damage.
Ranged rev can 1 shot enemy eles/necros and keeps might/fury up for nearby ranged, thus is spike class like necro without corrupts, but more mobile.
Revenant is well balanced and there arent many issues with it, mostly you will have issues with energy management and you will have to choose which skills to use and which not.

mesmer – little out of meta
Unfortunately mesmer has no spot as caster/backlinekiller anymore because revs/eles/scrappers fill that spot too well, thus mesmers are mostly veil/portal bots that run tank builds and share boons to allies keeping them alive, very boring to play but very effective in organised play, I dont recommend if you want to have fun.

Dont forget the builds are just examples but work quite well, Lot of people recommend Commander armor for mesmer instead of Soldiers because the tradeoff from vitality to extra boon duration and damage.
Berserker – Spike/CC monster
Warrior has become with HoT one of the most unkillable specs with the Adrenaline health. Fills the role of in and out backline killer but lacks lot of support outside warbanner. Best build is with Greatsword/hammer CC Spike bot, you will see lot of 6+k crits against enemy. Guardians will kill nothing without warriors and it is quite fun to play as you get to make your own decisions (dont forget warriors have more freedom around the tag than guardians in wvw gameplay because theyre not boon/healbots). Doesnt require a good party to carry fights. Swap fury sig to berserker stance and take cleansing ire if you dont have enough cleanse/resistance in party.

Roamingwise Mesmer is weak, rev has no potential in 1v2s thus I recommend playing war/scrapper if you wanna roam between zergfights, they are the most fun out of classes anyways.

^ that is a normal cataspot in t1, it can be hit by acs and even by mortars/trebs in keep.
Anyways, it is all good, they delinked Deso, and FSP wont stay rank 1 with their non-existant nightcrew. So it is all good, FSP will get some bandvagoners which they would have got anyways because they went tier 1 and Deso will lose some. After Deso gets rid of bandvagoners, the Deso core will start playing again and FSP will have something to fight.

I have accounts on FSP and Deso, and I have seen more action in Desert border in last day than in alpine bl last month. Contant enemy groups (maybe because national servers like the map), lot of queues, commanders, scouts etc.
It’s a nice map, for one border, nevertheless the 2 alpine are needed, because 3deserts would be too big

Id like to thank anet, the game is playable now instead of 1 year ago. Before if you faced 80 man zerg you couldnt pop any skills. Now its playable until 3rd server shows up. Think it has to do something with the amount of math growing everytime you add one person
Fix the weapon and character disappearing glitches tho.

You’re playing ranger wrong, Ranger is druid now with staff (Staff actually does at least 80% of damage of LB, more on close range, and you dont have to face enemy, you just have to for first tick of the auto, so its more mobile).
It’s like someone playing longbow guardian when hammer rev does more damage/support. Longbow ranger is nono.
Now about gear, you must have perma 25 might (“guard!” + heal as one is easy to access this) with sigils of air and blood and have specced for beastmastery (pet easy way to pick off theives/eles) + druid. Now after that comes skirmishing/markmanship. Nature magic if you want more ress potential.
Also dolyak runes ofc so you can spam astral form every 10s…
Then about gear, the 10% healing effectiveness food ofc cuz druid heals dont scale that well on healing power rather than healing effectiveness. But after that take either Commander or Crusader stat armor. Your pet is still anyways 60% of your damage sogiving up 10% of your own damage for extra support and survivability isnt bad.
2ndary weapon, most likely greatsword or sword dagger should have prolly 10% healing effectiveness and you should swap to the weaponset before astral form.
Theres plenty of tricks to make druid useful but bad players dont realise it. Core rangers can disappear tho, STAFF DOES MORE DAMAGE AND DOESNT GET REFLECTED.
Then you need like 200 vitality so prolly 2 cele trinks and marauder staff cuts it
(pst: i guess another choice is going the healing regen food so you dont need dolyak runes. Monk, dura or str runes would be choice in this case, exspecially if you dont spec for naturemagic for extra boon duration)

melee rev is ok to command on, but as backline rev, you can naturally only command backline. Which is useful, or you can command a havocsquad with lot of dps and tactics (portals etc.)
for example:
40 man guild with 1 commander faces 2 guilds with 20 man people.
If guilds are equal level, the 2 guilds will win.
So splitting up your numbers will improve effectiveness, unfortunately most commanders in this game are impossible to reason with cuz theyre idiots :P

Full zerk with scholar, any other thief is useless in group content, your job is to kill lowbies and squishies, not try to get people low.
other choice is to put marauder on your Shortbow, armor and amulet. Which is preferred if enemy has 1 good auramancer with shocking auras.
Now about your build, if youre missing stealth, take off hand pistol with the leap dodge to stack stealth. This is the most annoying build I ever played against.
