Pirateship meta is neither melee being able/willing to engage because they will get instantly one shotted by enemy zerg.
ways to enhance pirateshipmeta:

  • Venom thieves with immob for necrowells
  • Commanderfocus and melee running too squishy
  • Clouding, which is part of normal fights as well
  • Bombing directly on enemy commander

Ways to counter pirateship:

  • Durabilityrunes/mallyxrevs
  • Veils/portals
  • judges intervention
  • running tankier comp
  • Auramancers
  • superspeed such as scrapper

Player vs Player (in WvW) rewards

Its just pip hype currently so there are lot of maps full of PvE players that only want the rewards.

WvW before patch was like this: There was sometimes k-train commander with 20 people or so flipping towers, rest of the people were afk in keep waiting for fights to start.
But as soon as fight commander logged on, the zerging started, 50 people show up to follow commander and the commander goes to spots that give you fights, like upgraded towers, north towers, spawn towers, t3 keeps etc. Because no1 was interested in capping more tower after tower after 5 years.

If you really like fights so much, all you need to do is: dodge the ktrain commanders/guilds during this week, there are plenty of fights on maps because there is plenty of people now, fight commanders are normally on teamspeak (so you know which map to queue to), on guardian, have no signets and multiple charr guardians following them.

Anyways, weekend will be more active for fights, friday reset at 6 pm servertime and saturday-sunday should be full of fights as long as you follow teamspeak commanders.

Of course there are some PPT servers on NA and EU that dodge 90% of fights but all you can do is observe do the other 2 servers fight each other constantly and find out if your teamspeak commander is just talking about ppt and how to dodge them. If you find that you are on one, you might want to transfer or expect better fights next week when you are against weaker fightservers.

WvW is more fun as end-game than PvE

Now now, I know there has been lot of QQ about rank requirements and casual WvW players getting less pips. But I think you’re forgetting the most important thing here; it’s not about the skins, rather games are ment to have fun in, unless you’re some kind of chinese goldseller.

PvE is not challenging at all outside raid content, which makes it very monotonous. As soon as you get into WvW and are not panicking everytime you see enemy, you will start improving and realising the hidden mechanics behind gamemode that are not apparent for majority of new WvW players. When you start “feeling relevant” rather than just part of the zerg, you will start having fun inside WvW.

There are plenty of builds and help offered for new WvW players to start feeling relevant. All you need to do is grab the chance and take it. For example most popular WvW build spreadsheet currently is www.tinyurl.com/ezbuilds which is definitely worth checking out.

But main thing you need to do is: Just have fun. For example Guardian is much more than staff 11111, there are plenty of ways to kill enemy and survive, all you need to do is go through the skills and traits (like in PvE) and learn to use them correctly. Sure you will die sometimes testing things out, but its better to learn it now than in 3 months after dying billion times without realising what you are doing wrong. Often watching other players play the same class and then trying to figure out how they did it, is a good way to learn lot of tricks.

Now the gamemode isnt very fun unless you do it with friends, joining server teamspeak/discord is a nice way to start getting better and having fun. Of course there are commanders that are very uptight and make you feel bad about game mode, some are even too good for you too keep up with, but answer is simple: Dont follow those commanders, join another map, channel and start having fun.

Also there are lot of things that commanders don’t explain to new players because it is so obvious. Things like not knowing what skills does, wasting all dodges before fight to catch up, having wrong gamesettings and learning which red circles on the ground actually hurt are all things that are very obvious to oldschool world vs world players so they can’t understand why people die instantly. I remember when I started the game mode, it took me several months to get even basic things right. Ask around, people will help you, the community is surprisingly nice even if they badmouth some classes and signetusers.

No Loyalty Bonus

We need to update the loyalty pip description.

You need to earn at least 75 pips for 3 weeks in a row to earn the loyalty bonus. We wanted players to have to participate in skirmishes to be considered loyal.

75 pips…

So if you’re a new WvWer, your world is placing last, and you don’t manage to get any of the other bonuses, you’d need to play for over 6 hours a week for three weeks in a row to start getting the loyalty bonus.

Ouch.

6 hours is not that bad, its basically 2 primetimes in a week, or half a day during weekend. But the chances your world is last all the ticks during those 6 hours and not having outnumbered buff on any map, is kinda low anyways. Also you will easily reach bronze rank within 3 weeks to replace that extra pipperino

I think the biggest issue here is the 3 weeks in a row which causes people not to be able to take a week off, but on the other hand he didn’t help his world for 1 week so he lost a bit of pip income for that.

Now the good thing it does is : if you transfer, you wont earn pips for over a week, which means you wont get any pips for a week and you miss that extra pip for 4 weeks, which means transferring has some a punishment that might actually limit it now

Ascended drop rates

More people are using boosters and ktraining now, so obviously they get more ascended Chests as about half of them drop from rank-up chests. Personally I got 150 ranks in 4 days and 1 ascended chest but i been nolifing it pretty much to hit diamond, and now that I did, I will drop the boosters and save them for when I need it.

Before it was basically sitting in keep afk waiting for commander or flipping some wooden towers with 1 cata 60% of the day.

Holy Condis Batman!

Condi meta is still here but only in form of hybrid necros/revs, because resistance stacking from dura runes/melee rev in your party makes condi users require to have some boon corrupt to be relevant for first ~20 seconds of fight.

Some classes have been moved to useless status tho like Power mesmer (dies instantly when shout necro comes nearby), Druid/ranger (kills more allies with their pets getting epid than enemies), thief (only staff thief can somewhat do decent dps in blobfights but hammer warrior is safer for this) and scrapper (gets rekt by corrupt/aura meta).

So basically classes you can play reliably are:
melee or staff ele/tempest
Guardian
Revenant: Melee/Ranged: hybrid/power/heal
Reaper Power/Hybrid
Berserker (very party reliant on clenase).

Now surprisingly 3 of these classes counter somewhat condi meta, ele with cleanses, revenant with resistance and guardian with cleanses. Also you dont want too many berserkers in squad, only a few, as they’re sometimes liability.

Now as long as your server follows this meta, they will be fine. Dont forget that for example dragonhunter is a focus-party class even if you tank it up. And you didnt want even before HoT more than 5 FP classes with you when you were 50 or so.

Unfortunately there isnt easy solution to all these people running PvE builds. All you can pretty much do is; Just kick all dragonhunters, rangers/druids, vanilla engineers/mesmers and thieves/daredevils from squad without arguing them about it and they will either relog, die instantly(ragequit) or not play the game, and dont go eb, pugs are endless there.

Btw, even before HoT groups died instantly, there just were more open guilds and hardcore players playing against each other so you didnt notice it. Current good blobs can fight each other for 5+ minutes etc, they’re just much much more harder to find.

Xfer burn

I have the same issue mate, you will start getting pips after full matchup you play. So if you transferred on Friday before reset, you will start getting pips next mu, if on Saturday, then you have to wait next week too. Just dont worry about it too much,

But its ok I think, its just a few days, I am not superficial enough to care about having backpack or asc pieces 3 days later. Transferring should have some punishment, its here now. At least you don’t have to transfer in the near future or are stuck without your guild now that bunch of servers have been set full ^^

Lower the Rank Requirement for Armor

Is there anyway to lower the rank requirement for t3 armor from 2000 to say 500? Maybe 700 or even 1000? 2000 ranks requires you to play around 3-5 hrs a day in wvw mostly doing player vs door for a year. Any way you guys could reconsider, as I’ve lost motivation and feel it’s an egregious amount especially since I like zerg vs zerg and roaming and not pvd.

I’ve played a good amount of wvw since launch and am rank 364 with about 360 hrs in wvw. Feels unobtainable.

No, if you’re only rank 364 you havent done that much. Its a reward for dedicated players and so it should remain

really playing a game for 300+ hours for one type of game mode isnt that much? show me another game in which you cannot absolutely destroy in the same amount of play time?

League of legends, Hearthstone, Counter Strike, World of Warcraft. What other genre you want ?

Haha yes I almost bought china account when I saw some videos of them in WvW, but decided not to because its more grindy and in Chinese. It looked quite awesome environment.

Pip for WvW is unfair

Why would you play Water support ele, your waters have bigger cd than swapping out of water to fire, casting some skills and then swapping back to water. Also the Water staff 1 heals nothing. You just weren’t contributing to fights and were slacking.

Ele doing damage to enemies reduces damage to allies more than one camping water anyways, because dead/running enemies dont hit

WvW Queue bugged?

There are 2 Bugs:

  • If you wait until last seconds to “take the queue pop”, sometimes it bugs out and the queue resets itself, prolly a graphics bug regarding the orange timeout bar.
  • If you are in loading screen (like respawning after dying) when queue pops, you wont get the queue pop and the queue will reset itself.

Be happy, there is plenty of commanders to choose from and lot of enemies to fight.

Primetime will be pain but times outside primetime should be fun for a while with enemies.

It will settle down eventually, same hype was when desert bl came out and was gone quite fast.

Let them play, they won’t know what map to go to without being on teamspeak/discord anyways. PvE pugs will follow PvE commanders and WvW commanders will farm them, happy farmdays!

Lower the Rank Requirement for Armor

Okay so lets see:

  • there’s also new rewards for new players/slackers, so they should be happy about the patch
  • You get world xp from anything that gives your world points like capping camps/towers and killing enemies, even repairing walls/gates.
  • Majority of the active WvW players that contributed to their community in the past year in form of day/primetime/morning/nightcrew are already way past 2k rank.

Now why set the WvW rank so high?

  • Means there wont be influx of new PvE players/guilds every month to WvW making WvW quality plummet and unfun for everyone. WvW communities wont die from influx of “clueless” players.
  • It rewards people who are good (get kills), don’t die instantly and are smarter about taking objectives.

Now why should the PvE plebs not flip/get obsessed over it?

  • Its just mediocre skins, who cares. Making asc pieces/weapons cost only 100g anyways each.

June 6 Patch: Server Links and Pops

The first week might be hectic with 4 map queues but after that it will settle down.
It just gives incentive for people to join teamspeak because commanders will obviously mention it first in teamspeak which map they’re going to and people not in TS will be stuck in queue.

Just have fun, some of your old friends are coming back, chat to them while in queue and things like that. And dont forget that 1 map with big queue means that you can start 2nd zerg on another map

And being worried about having linking already, so sad :/

Only thing I am rather worried about is the commanders coming back/pve comms tagging up. I mean they have no idea about what WvW players want or current meta. Some of them might even be thieves and rangers, the horror, exspecially since most of them will break EB due to it being only map they can get people on their tags </3.

I think the change might actually be good, because currently all i see roamers do is spawngank enemy. Now they actually have to flip towers/camps on the way, learn how to fight inside objectives and stuff. Also now the have more incentive to join the commanders for fights occassionally to get some extra xp and maybe learn both aspects of WvW.

Also capping towers/camps with small groups actually gives more xp than in big group, because for example flipping camp over half the XP comes from killing the guards and in large zergs most people dont get to tag them all.

Now if you wanna just duel and gank people, how is it any different than before? You didnt care about loot and rewards before, why would you now? You got like 40% of rewards before and now you will get 40% again.

There are fights where conditions dont affect the outcome of the fight at all. The meta is to run 2 vanilla guards + 1 mallyx rev in party. The guards can pretty much cleanse everyone in their party with their f2 and mallyx rev will be able to midigate condition damage for 10 seconds every 20 seconds.

Your party guardians just need to learn how to instantly cleanse the party on when there’s over 4 conditions or so and dodge wells.

Now you get organised group going with this decent sustain and you will just faceroll thro condiplayers for first 20 seconds, and the condiplayers already lost the fight at that point. Thats why necros run Hybrid (mostly power damage + epi bombs on downs) and most of other classes full power (except occassional hybrid rev/condi guards).

Hard to imagine the condi being issue when you go through all of the things above. Maybe you just need to get better and adjust to meta or follow better commanders, as in general good commanders get better players to follow them.

Dont play ranger, engi or mesmer though, these classes get rekt completely by current meta. Vanilla ele, guardian, revenant and reaper are dominant in current meta. Warriors and thieves can somewhat manage to stay alive, even though thieves get way more useless as the group grows bigger.

Only Siege Should Damage Walls/Doors

You might not know this, but the whole point of game mode is being able to take things even if there is siege inside, that’s why there is counter siege. What difference would it make if they would stack with a blob to pvd or have an 3 omegas there with them.

Supply is a resource, its not unlimited and shouldnt be wasted. Attackers are supposed to have a chance for healthy gameplay. These are things you need to keep in mind.

Now lets say theres 80 people pvding your gate thats at 80% if you managed to man your double trebs and triple acs for the gate in time. Drained their supply with supply traps and cows. Ok so they facerub the gate for next 40 minutes. What can you do in this time with 20 people?

1) you can get 5 scrappers and use double elixir s to repair gates while invuln. or just blink away from gate after starting to repair to finish it with pretty much any class. focus + mistform eles work too, mesmer portals etc.
2) you can try to attack something t3 of theirs to bring them away, doesnt work always but sometimes.
3) you can fight them and be stronger than them, you already have claim buff (and prolly presence of the keep) and acs, so you’re on supersayian mode where you can easily win double the numbers.

Now, none of these are very hard to do. it just requires you to be fast about killing their actual siege/draining supply.

Also if they cap the keep, they’re having fun, you’re not, so it balances itself out.

Yes it matters and a lot, however good luck having enough laurels to get infusions on all characters and builds that you play with. id just stick with infusing the things that you use the most first, for example trinkets are easy to swap if you want different stats, so you want to infuse your armor first. Weapon too on 1-weapon classes.

Looking to change server

- Gandara, up and down server, sometimes they’re active and lot of times not, currently summer is coming up and people are stacking on gandara link tho so it is prolly best choice. Has a few good and lot of regular “casual” commanders. Good roaming activity.

- FSP, nice server overall, active chat & teamspeak but has the issue of being the most boring server to be in unless you want to farm bags and outnumber enemies 90% of day while never having any activity at nighttime. Has dead weeks fightwise. Has a few good and lot of mediocre commanders. 0 Roaming activity.

- Piken Square, pretty much dumbster atm with being stacked last linking then crashing down, they will prolly start being active in month or two around summer. Supernice people, my 2nd fav server peoplewise. Not really hardcore, cant compete with big boys. Relatively bad commanders. 0 Roaming activity.

- Gunnars Hold + Vabbi, Currently the bandvagoner server where all the big boys are going to make a fightserver. However their success depends on if they can break that barrier between t3-t2 to face FSP/Gandara and gain some ppters. Has lot of good commanders. Has roaming activity.

- Desolation, the server I am currently in, spent most time and started at. Okay server if you know the people, however very very casual. Nice/lot of people but the activity is near 0 at daytime because the commanders/people/numbers are not at daytime the level that you need to face the strongest international servers like FSP/Gunnars/Gandara. Nice place but needs a openraiding good guild to carry it and theres none atm, wouldnt recommend. Has roaming/out of primetime activity.

Also to your questions

  • FSP and gandara have best coverage atm
  • Defensive scouts are normally kicked from squad because why would you keep someone who is not on eb in full squad, its easy to get full participation by repairing walls/flipping sentries/camps anyways. Also you dont really need scouts in EB due to having full map of aware people and watchtowers everywhere.
  • No one cares about small guilds roaming on any server, they’re just having fun.
  • I dont think there’s any commanders that pull long hours anymore these days, its all about number of commanders
  • Internal drama is everyday thing, the game is boring without it. You need to be part of the server to participate in it. I guess biggest things happening last times are half of FSP hating siegehugging people in SM not letting enemy reset it so they cant play eb, so they’re slowly leaving FSP. And piken losing half of its activity due to bandvagoners leaving to vabbi with new linking.

BTW: dont forget summer is coming up, which means blobs and roamers everywhere, generally you want to be on a server that wins fights during summer.

Make it a neutral map, put all the starting wps in the middle of the map, blue closest to air keep, red closest to Garri and green closest to fire keep. Also its easier to find fights with the starting wps being closer to each other

This will solve the distance issue easily and make it more like EB.

Now what can we do about 1 server not having home map? Well they can just lose the matchup, or add another alpine so guilds have more than 2 maps to raid on (eu, i know na guilds raid on eb)

Haha its prolly a dumb idea but if they really insist to keep the map, they might as well make it a complete joke as it is already.

WvW is okay atm, some days I feel like playing it and it is fun because there is lot of enemies in higher tiers, if its PvD then I can just roam.
Just the Meta shifted so that bad commanders are superbad now and the fight is over in 1 second because the comm got everyone killed due to picking bad spot to fight, being bad at guardian or some other reason. Supporting bad “old-timers” is just pointless, they just should either learn or stop tagging up.

We all know that FSP commanders will stop playing once they start getting farmed as seen before when Deso got stacked but yeah FSP is super boring to be in unless you enjoy afk/farm then watch comm rage/rq as soon as the fights get bit harder.

Good luck with Vabbi, but you seriously need to ppt more, are you saying there’s not a few people there who can rotate doing night/morningcrew for a few weeks with the summer coming up?

Linkings have no point atm tho, they should just merge the servers by now.

DOT vs DPS

Its just qq, condi isnt broken, people just dont know how to play against it. It does 0 damage when resistance on(list your resistance sources) and every good Guardian can cleanse 4 condis easily from party within 1 second of application. You can even hear the necro scepter 1 and 3 cast when being focused.

F/e if all necros in your blob runs full condi without axe/wells, your comp has high chance of getting 1 pushed due to dura runes.

Condi builds sure are annoying to play against when roaming, because youre just spamming dodge cleanse burst but thats just roaming. WvW is mostly largescale and definitely condi war, guard, rev, mesmer, thief, engi, ranger and ele builds are not the optimal ones there. Hybrid necro has its place, but you sacrifice so much AoE boon corrupt for it that it definitely isnt any better than power, that can demolish melee parties single handedly without relying to epi.

Simple: never stay in range of enemy bomb (900 for both well and purge) unless baiting/pushing with stealth. And even then only guards/wars make the frontline. If you suck on those classes, you have 0 reason to be in reaper shroud range.

Strong choice for Commanding?

Guardian always, never warrior, this way people have reason to come to you when low rather than go away. Also helps you tell 1200\900 distance between allies and enemies due to staff.
Ele and rev doesnt have enough stab/invuln/heal.
Scrapper is great in 10ish groups without guards.
I followed one great mesmer comm and all he did was portal bomb enemy on sentinel mesm, little cheesy but works cuz you get first engage.

Anyways my gear for guard: 3 wanderer with dura runes, 3 nomad trinks and zealot staff and marauder gs, rest cele. Double energy,1 conc and bloodlust/momentum. Nomad to cele when not being focused. Receive the light, Purging flames, syg and renewed always. Then receive the light, retreat, merciful intervention, contemplation of purity or signet of judgement depending on situation.

Is there no close matchups anymore?

Blame the commanders, always. Players following them can only get as good as the commander is. If the comm doesnt actually teach players instead of being happy dappy ppt log inner or rager, the servers will stay unbalanced.

Amount of knowledge/experience you need about the game for being great in WvW is super small. Of course to carry fights you need a better computer and deeper knowledge about enemy classes and gamemode but that isnt necessary for enough melee sustain/range pressure.

Well whatever, its too old of a game to have enough great positive players to teach others so you cant do much about it, maybe make your server stronger for 6+ hours a week by tagging up. You will be stuck with comms that should be in PvE :p Maybe in 5 years they realise that stacking on tag and running in straight line with PvT guards is not enough anymore

Western game, not enough asian playerbase. I dont think theres universal language that majority of Asians speak either.

China has its servers tho but its different publisher so you cant move your account there.

Obviously OP hasn’t grasped the meta or playstyle.

Weak classes that are super hard to play and easy to counter:

  • Thief
  • Scrapper
  • Mesmer
  • Revenant (roaming)
  • Elementalist
  • Guardian

Runes/sigils that make everything easier:

  • Durability (can heal you several thousands during fight and makes you impossible to be bursted down)
    *Energy, gives you 0.5 sec invuln every 10s
  • Hydromancy, super easy instant 2k AoE burst that chills enemies around you, great for escaping, buttonsmashing or doing damage.

Anyways, take one long range wep in your build (rifle war, bow dh, staff druid etc) and whenever you face a class you cant beat no matter what, play that class until you realise its not that strong and what are the skills to hit. Obviously the builds wont be optimal but they will be easier to play.

If you have bad PC and cant see enemy animations, dont bother fighting 1v1s/melee just take necro/rev/ele and spam long range skills.

Friend all commanders that seem like they know what to do. If commander dies before you (a noob), he most likely will just make you a worse player.

But tbf, I play a lot, like 10 hours a day, I wont lose to anyone in 1v1 if I am on a class thats decent for 1v1 (being on guard or ele sucks). So my advice is kinda from different world than people who just have option to escape to PvE after losing….

Anyways key is to dodge certain kills on each classes, for example thats for warriors thats GS 5, gs 3 and axe/gs f1s. And instastunbreak when you get headbutted and dodge.

Dont roam with exotic gear, you stand 0 chance if you’re not good. Also run high toughness builds, Easiest way is to take enough condi cleanse in build and just get lot of armor and then gg, noobs cant kill you.

WvW on Aurora Glade

Long story short is:
AG had its chance to stay alive. It was linked with Blacktide 4 months ago and hundreds of WvW players transferred to blacktide to make ag t1 the dream come true. The transfers were able to get AG to rank 7 however there wasnt a single native AG commander tagging up. They did PPT before linking, they did after it, but not during it (only during primetime). Obviously server cant climb rankings a lot without all community helping so after the linking was over, no1 had any interest in AG anymore, even AG locals. (all fighting servers were in t1)

Anyways AG guilds and WvW players got a glimpse of real WvW during it, so they decided after to leave half-dead AG leaving it dead (CA, bzz).

My prediction will be that AG will be linked server like Gunnars Hold now in the next linking.

Seems like an horrible idea. Whoevers left in the game, plays it because they like current class options. Making it completely different snowballmayhem would kinda ruin it which is not good….

What we need is ingame recommended builds tab for WvW like in BnS. 3 different trait settings for each class or so.

New nongear 5 amulet system would also be interesting. 5 to make it waaaay more statvariant from pvp

Go RoF, they dont blob that much eb and they have bunch of roaming guilds. They are also not t1-t2 so it wont be that laggy.

I voted to keep desert bl as well, because most objectives were kept wooden back then. However now red server wins automatically ppt when sm is wooden. Id rather have 3 desert bls and never play borders rather than the current autowin system.

Roamingwise
- Condi mesmer, just too tanky for most power specs.
- Daredevils, not too strong in fair fight but too much mobility and ooc chances.
in zergs/blobs
- Revenants, obviously, top dps and top support in party (dwarf/Mallyx)

UP classes:
- DH, too weak for roaming or blobbing. Not enough damage or support to justify it.
- Power mesmer, unfortunately one of the best classes in game has been rendered somewhat tricky to use due to squishiness.
- Druid, not enough burst damage or boonshare to justify running it.
- Scrapper, it seems really weak since nerfs because all the kits suck unless traited and you can only have 1 weaponset. Has its jack-of-all-trades thing due to stealth availability and ress/stomp potential.

Thief, war, necro, guard, ele, rev seem to be on really good spot WvW wise.

Why are you keep playing WvW?

  • PvE is boring, you can even watch twitch streams about PvE and even high level content like raid bosses are yawnworthy.
  • WvW has unique builds that connect support, damage and survivability. There is no classes that do 0 damage, you can make power builds that are not full zerk. Also its not as limited as PvP gearwise.
  • Theres constant improvement and variety. You can feel improvement as commander/player every week because positioning, siegeplacement, sustaining, communication, commanding, builds etc are such complex things.
  • Theres no set meta. Eles can play cele, marauder or nomad if they want to. Necros can play trailblazer, marauder or celestial if they wish so. Warriors can play condi shout, power shout or just plain power builds. Bored of your classes? Make a new build. And its not just gonna be 11111 pewpew against world bosses.
  • You can be the deciding factor in 50v50, 20v20 fights etc. If you make/finish 5 downs, you potentially rally 5 allies. You can save your party, ress people etc. No fight is the same.
  • You dont know who will win, enemy can bring a blob and lose, but after that they can build siege/change commanders etc and you start losing again.
  • Theres always something challenging to do, You can blob, scout, siege, roam, ppt. Whatevers available at the moment, you can even be salty towards enemies for their cheesy builds, if you find that fun. Be yourself
  • Communities and teamspeak, Its more fun with voice communications, someone does something stupid, everyone laughs with him Commander keeps spirits up and is a person you can look up to. You can join a guild and work together for guild upgrades/raids/builds to become best possible community. Makes you feel unique.

Nerf or remove the condi

Play more revs. If you have only eles, guardians and necros your blob will melt instantly.
1 rev per party mean 50% damage reduction on push and resistance when being condibombed. Also they do most overall dps in blob (warrior would in guildsize but in blobfights rev can keep constant damage up due to range).

You will melt in 2 seconds indeed if all you got is 2 guards in party. Even before HoT there was shout warrior in there somewhere (and its now somewhat viable too with shouts buffed, even tho rev is better)

Next expansion wvw maps

With the desert borderland failure at launch in mind, i dont even want to think about a new map or how it’s going to look like. The horrorscenario eeeeek.

Its going to be full of ranger pets to pick, also keep lords will be flying dragons breathing flame and only ranger bows can hit them.

No but seriously speaking, city map, city map for life, with lifts and stuff, palaces to defend etc. Cool npcs, roof paths and everything fancy, but not too big. So 1 city, maybe 2 small ones with 3 bridges in the middle. No home corner system, spawns relatively close to each other. Maybe I am just dreaming but like layouts like Counterstrike and Overwatch where people pewpew from above until melee classes manage to sneak from behind, are awesome.

Yeah pulling from upper ground or off the ledges like walls can cause that.

You can also pull people from outside inside sm if you have 2 people to pull with, 1 guy throws him in the air and other guy pulls him from the air on top of the wall.

Suggestion - SMC related

The state of SMC for the game is horrible atm, the claim buff and cannons cover most of the eb. They buffed the siege hp by 100% against other siege so basically countertrebbing/ballistaing the acs takes too long to succeed etc.

I can understand that being able to build siege to defend is essential, but outer cannons, mortars and claim buff should be removed. Only saving grace is that you cant put presence of the keep in SMC and make the defenders basically invincible.

Getting in with blob and shield gens is simple, but inside lord its super hard with the lord taking 15 minutes to kill enemies around and defenders being stronger due to claim buff + respawn. If they would remove the claim buff, or at least nerf it to half, and reduce the SM lord hp, attackers would be on much more even ground. Main issue is that WvW guardians do only about 1k DPS to lord, and other classes also less than in PvE cuz marauder + dura not zerk + scholar, so the lord should have like 30% less health when in with a blob

Desert BL [the case for removal]

Most of the kills on DBL happen because servers HAVE TO try to reset things or all other maps are queued for guilds. I saw like 3 commanders go dbl just to see them say never again this week

Also we have occasionally blob vs blobs near south camp of desert border if they happen to be between blue and green servers, which means we dont even touch objectives. That also makes it seem so that someone actually goes there.

but tbf, alpine is not that popular either anymore because all the siege, guild, autoupgrade stuff. even if you reset something it will be t3 again in 3 hours. Its basically hold SM and you win matchups

but yeah while I had lot of good fights in desert borders, 3 alpine borders would be better, just because it is faster and more frequent to find those ^^

Haha, maybe so, I have indeed heard what NA pvp scene looks like on the top so I guess necro would dominate there

Lets vote again then Last vote was before they made desert bl into “1 map” and I am pretty sure no1 guessed that Desert bl would be such huge of an advantage to have.

Also game population felt way lower back then (also there was more ppt comms resetting stuff), so no1 thought we need more than 3 maps.

Ill be happy with the current situation if over 50% people vote to keep it

You dont roam as reaper, because you have no reliable way to get back to full hp once you get jumped on. Also its hard to get first engage on class that doesnt have much mobility and has obvious cast animations. Basically you need to own SM to soloroam as necromancer and stay like 5000 range from it.

If you are afraid of dying you shouldn’t be roaming nor be playing necro nor even be playing a pvp mode.

Haha, well obviously your server might look little different but the servers I am facing have 3-4 man perma ganking guilds during daytime killing everyone trying to solo roam if they own sm Ofc you could go borders but its pretty much the same there. Thats why its better to play Druid/Mesmer/Warrior/Thief or even DH or ele so you have at least some mobility.

Also thieves counter you, longbow druids can troll you, sure if you love the class but its kinda like roaming with staff DH at that point, sure you kill some noobs and scrappers but at that point you will be better off just zerging ^^

QoL Request: Mega Server Obsidian Sanctum

This wouldn’t change anything. The only reason people went to OS was because you couldn’t buy siege before and it was the best place to farm it for the week. All it would do it make GvGing slightly harder as you may run into others trying to gvg in the arena.

I think the idea was to have lot of instances like EotM/PvE. So if you port in with a guild, then some of the guild members will be kicked to another empty instance, then you can taxi your guild/enemy guild in. Teamchat could work across obsidian maps to look for other guilds (or for taxi to some guilds fight) and mapchat in the obsidian map the player is in.

In ideal situation you could talk to enemy players through some kind of LFG system to prevent chatspam and choose a team you belong in, so you wont be limited to fighting green/blue guilds if your server happens to be red. <- These would be the only 2 things that would require some little work on, because there really isn’t exactly similar perfect system yet.

I like your anti-chrono build, it seems somewhat useless against power users though :P

And 2 energy sigils seem too many considering entering/leaving shroud already procs it so you can proc it easily twice on 1 weapon.

Dont think you can still kill a great full dire chrono because lack of damage modifiers, but glad to see that even death magic has its uses

Its great, they should just remove the claim buff, so it doesnt give massive advantage for defenders, they already have portals/siege/chokes, do they really need to have 2 to 5 extra foods worth of stats (400 or 800) to make them unbeatable in equal number fights?

But yeah, DH is decent but dont think it was designed to kite around enemy, more about leaping away, knocking back (keeping eye on enemy stab), blocking and then engaging with blink/pull., Everyone seems to be thief, druid or warrior these days ^^ Gotta have that mobility. Also dont think DH is weak because lack of mobility (2 leaps + blink), more because that classes that dont share boons/heals have higher survivability/burst damage.
