Geez, reading stuff like this makes me wanna take off my t3 armor and fancy weapon skins lol
When i just got hacked, they transmuted all my cultural to non-acount bound crap and stole it all. Nearly all my fancy weapons too. Absolutly gutted!
Thing is, where can you put it where it’s safe and whats the point, why have it but not wearing it for fear of loosing it when getting hacked?!

Also, there is an official GW2 mouse that can do macros I think, I can vaguely remember looking at it when GW2 went live.

Yea fella, how goes it with your account? Did you get a restoration?
17 level 80 characters, all races, all professions.
yea, thats cool man, so he should still be able to reset his password with just the email address and the CD-Key, just come on here and use the “forgot my password” or what ever its called link, Or when he tries to log in through the laucher, click the “recover account” link that comes up when you type in the wrong password.
You better try it with him before i see you back on here saying he can’t or i’ll have to go all Bruce Lee on yo’ ; ). Im like 90% sure it’ll work so get to it. Good luck bro.
(that was well weird, I typed …bruce lee on yo’ bottom (won’t let me use any other word but the one i used has an “a” and two "s"es in it) but when i posted it said …bruce lee on yo’ kitten, lol wtf?)

So what did he actually do?
He must have made an account or there wouldn’t be a password to forget. lol
17 level 80 characters, all races, all professions.
I know bro but there is a link under the login bit that he can click if he has forgotten his password. I think it will ask him for the email address and the CD-Key then allow him in to reset the password. It might send him an email with a new password to use to get into his account on here where he can rest his password.
If he does this and it works, tell him to make sure his password is 100% unique to GW2.

Well if he signed up, he should be able to come here to the forum and try login here and try the “forgot password” link. Its worth a go.

There has been no information stolen. Mike O’Brien said this about how the hacks are happpening:
“hackers use tens of thousands of different IP addresses to scan through millions of attempted account names and passwords, almost all of which are for accounts that don’t even exist in our database, looking for matches. They’re not guessing or brute-forcing passwords; they’re trying a very specific account name and password for each attempt. For example, account name “joe.user@example.com”, password “alligator101?. If they don’t get a match immediately, they may try a variant like “alligator100? or “alligator102?, then they quickly move on to the next entry on their list.”
Just a bit further down the same post he says:
“But in recent years, a truly staggering number of game companies and web sites have had their account databases breached. These reports of security breaches — 77 million accounts, 25 million accounts, 24 million accounts, untold millions more — may seem abstract, too big to be real, but they’re obviously not. The information stolen from database breaches is worth a lot of money to hackers, who can take the stolen account credentials and use them to attack each new game that’s released.”
So, the account information may have been stolen but not from NCSoft though. You really do get an idea on why it is so important to have an unique password for everything though.
You can see the whole post by Mike O’Brien here, it’s well worth a read.

Its been several days and still no reply. The last reply I got (two days ago now) was
“I am transferring your ticket to a senior member of the Guild Wars Support Team for further assistance. Someone will be in contact with you as soon as possible.”
I wonder did the senior guys just have a look and decide to ignore it like they said they might in the last ticket. Im not sure what to do now. They havn’t even said anything about changing the account email address or the Authorized Networks Location in China.

Contact support and ask for them to change it for you. We seem to be having a long delay in progress and replys though so be patient if you don’t get a reply right away.
Good luck.

Yea, I was also thinking a similar thing. I’ve not come to this forum (Account Issues) before i got hacked but since I have been comming here (5 days or so), I’ve seen no end of hacking incidences, is it always like that in this forum?
17 level 80 characters, all races, all professions.
It sounds like he may have been hacked. I put a post on another topic on the Account Issues, its on the first page and its called “Help me someone hacked my account”. Some of the info I put on that topic might help.
Also, if your friend has a GW account or more importantly, a NCSoft master account, then he can reset his password from there and hopefuly get back in to the game and find if his been hacked. If he goes to his GW game in the master account, he will have the option to change the password. That password is a bit like an override and it will also reset his GW2 game password (and this forum password too i think).
If he don’t have a GW account then maybe if he creates a NCSoft master account and reset the main password there, that might work.
I hope some of that helps fella.

If the hacker has managed to change the email address that your game account is tied to and your support is tied to the same address then you need to change the email address that your support account is tied to (to prefferably an address that is used for nothing else) so that they don’t get any copies of your tickets.
You then need to send a ticked to support if you have not already. You sould start by explaining everything and then provide all the info you have about your account to prove you do indeed own that account.
This is generaly what info support ask you to provide to prove ownership (do NOT put ANY of this info up on the forum):
———
-your Guild Wars 2 Serial Code
-Your Guild Wars 2 Display name (e.g Myname.1234)
-Your Guild Wars 2 Account Name (if you have one)
If you don’t have the serial number and bought the game directly form bly.guildwars2, you can also provide the following:
- Order ID:
- Last four digits (ONLY) of the credit/debit card used:
- PayPal® Transaction ID or the Invoice ID associated with the purchase:
Billing ZIP code associated to the card in question
Card holder’s name
e-mail address used to make the purschase.
If you purchased from a retailer, we would need>
-Current login name fo the account
-the name of a character on the account
-the account’s dateCreated within 72 hours
(Thats pretty much a copy and paste from a support reply)
Then ask support to change the email your game account is tied to be changed to a new one, maybe the one your support is tied if you don’t use that for anything else.
Also ask support to remove any Authorized Networks Locations that do not belong on your account.
Lastly ask if there is any chance of an Account Restoration/Rollback to a point before the hack.
I hope all this helps and good luck.
P.S. If you get support to do all these things for you, the whole prosess may take a good few days.
17 level 80 characters, all races, all professions.
From what I can gather (mostly from Gaile’s posts), the actual restore/rollback process is quite quick but researching when to restore/rollback the account to takes quite a lot of time. I think how much time totally depends on each case though.
17 level 80 characters, all races, all professions.
Im not sure how long it takes but I have also been waiting two days though. As much as I’d love to get back to playing, Im not really worried, I know that they have loads of other people to deal with but they’ll get it done sooner or later.
In regards to authentication, there is an email authentication system but I don’t know anything about it Im afraid.
Good luck ; )
17 level 80 characters, all races, all professions.
She said that the actual rollback process only takes a short time but researching where to roll back to can take quite a while, sometimes even days.
17 level 80 characters, all races, all professions.
Well, in all fairness, sometimes people may wish to restore a character they dedeted on purpose, never mind by accident. Maybe because that had filled all their 5 character slots and wanted to try another profession but after a quick go, they realise that its not for them and want the old character back. There are several sensible reasons why you may have deleted a character and want it back.
Also, one of the games I have played, maybe Aion, if you deleteda character, you had 24 hours to change your mind. Unfortunatly, if it was your last character slot you had to wait 24 hours before the old character was removed and you could make a new one.

Hey Gaile : )
I just got a reply from them in the last hour, asking for some more info to confirm im the account owner. I was so worried that they would just see who it was form and ignore it. I really love them support guys right now, lol.
The ticket number is 121220-001332. Im really hoping that they are going to help me get an Account Restoration. Im not sure if you’ll think it necessary to check out my ticket at all now but if you do, I’ll be so so grateful.
Thanks a million, your a star. : )

Ok, I have decided to try one last time. I have made a new ticket and tried to explain. I wanted to put a copy of what I said up on here but it exceeds the 5001 characters allowed.
I just hope that they will give me a chance. I have been playing all my adult life and have made GW such a big part of my life. Like I said, I even met my fiance there and have three beautiful kids (four in april) as a result. Maybe that will count for something.

I know this sounds pathetic but I almost feel like crying. I have put so much time and love into this game. I had so mcuh faith in support that they would help.
What do I do now, just start over?
Have they basicly said, 100% not helping you now please be on your way?
And If I try get them to relook at my account, do I make another ticket or just reply to the last one that says “Closed”?

Nah, its almost definately my email and Support Account that have been compromised. In one of the replys I got from support, is says how I contacted them each time. It says form “Customer By Web Form” when I contacted them through my Support Account and from “Customer By Email” when I contacted them by email.
But the thing is, that very first time support were contacted be the hacker posing as me, it says form “Customer By Web Form” so they must have been into my support account and then their next reply was from “Customer By Email” so they were in there too.
Im so lost now, what do i do? If Kaspersky can’t find anything, does that mean there are no Trojans or keyloggers in my computer?
17 level 80 characters, all races, all professions.
Do you have a gw1 account?
If so, log into your NCSoft Master Account and go to your games accounts and change your password, you then should be able to use that same password to get back into your gw2 account (as it resets both game accounts to the same password) and see if you were hacked.
17 level 80 characters, all races, all professions.
Nah fella, you just need a little patience bro.
I just got hacked yeaserday too, for the second time. Im not sure how long it takes but im sure you’ll get a rollback. Think I saw Gaile Gray say it could take up to a few days though.
At least we have a chance to get a rollback now, last time I got hacked, i lost everything and had to start over from scratch.
Good luck bro and hang in there.

Just found out how they got a new password, the submitted a ticket saying "I can not access my Guild Wars account, please help me retrieve the password! " and then support helped them get back into my account. I don’t hold support responsible in any way, them guys have always been really good for me, but how did they get into my support account. I really didn’t think that I had a Trojan or keylogger but is there any other way they could gotten in?
17 level 80 characters, all races, all professions.
I was thinking, is it possible for support to change the CD-Key my account uses?
I reckon that because the hackers have my CD-Key and they know my email address, they can just use the “Recover Account” option whenever they want to get in but that wouldn’t work anymore if the CD-Key was changed.

Hey again guys.
I just checked to see if I got a reply from my ticket and found I have three. The replies I got are:
More Information Needed
Login: Requesting more information
Password reset
I only replyed to the last one recieved, More Information Needed, but do I need to reply to them all?
The second two seem to be more about getting back into the game but I got that sussed last night. Also, I don’t what to confuse things by having multiple tickets open.
Cheers guys.

Thankyou for the reply Gaile. Your a star.
Im 99% sure I done have a Trojan or keylogger. After the last time i was hacked, i was so annoyed that i went and baught the best version of Kaspersky i could.
Also, im worries about what will happen with the events that i will miss out on? I had done the events in the first 3 cities and got the rewards but if i do the new one in Hoelbrak, i’ll lose any rewards i get when they rollback (if they rollback). I was also told that if we do the events in each of the capital cities before the airship moves to the next one, we will get another 500 cogs. If that is true, i won’t be able to get them either. So, either way I won’t be able to make the full amount of mini toys will i?.
P.S. I played GW1 from day one and remember you from way back then. I missed your leaving party though : (
On a random note, I actually met my partner in GW and we will be having our fourth kid soon so we kinda brought the online community into the real world, lol. I reckon I owe you and GW an absolutly massive thanks to for that. Thanks a million ;-)

Hey guys. Im Rhea’s partner who just got hacked. I was just submitting a ticket to support and resetting all my passwords and account info and email info (again) so Rhea started this post for me.
Im so absolutly gutted. If being hacked once wasn’t bad enough…… Last time, the support guys were ace but there was nothing they could do about my lost stuff. After they helped me get back in to my account, I trawled the forum (and other forums) to find how I could stop it happening again and did everything that i could but it still happened again.
What im really worried about is if I get a once-off rollback (if thats even possible) and then it gets hacked again, then i’ve lost my only rollback.
Im really stressed and tired right now so maybe be theres a really obvious way to stop it happening again but i just can’t see it. I anyone knows how I can make sure it never happens to me again, I would be so grateful.
