Another idea. Why not keep Town Clothes as Town Clothes, as they are now… but have the armour skin options as well ?
Aye, Town clothes are perfect as they are. I really don’t see why they want to change them. Because some peoplel want to use them in combat? C’mon, don’t be fecking daft, they’re Town Clothes! The whole idea should have been laugh off like someone asking for Tequatl as a Ranger pet!
I like the Town Clothes day event!!!! But it should be soon since we only have one week left!
Sounds like an Ace idea. Maybe a protest and Town Clothes fashon show in one. Get some really good screen shots in case we lose them.
How about Lion’s Arch as it’s empty right now. Im on the Desolation server and I reckon that’s as good a server as any to hold it. Is ther another forum on here that would be better for advertising it though? : )
Edit Actually, why even a day, if we were to pick a server and a map, I wonder could we camp it till the update. Accross all servers and timezones, I reckon we proibly have enough people to always have a few online form now till the update. Maybe im being stupidly optimistic. : /

I just want to keep town clothes the way they are now. I don’t want to have them as ‘armour skins’ I want them as normal everyday clothes. You don’t wear plate armour to go to bed do you?
I’m a roleplayer, and my private detective character relies on having a horrifically coloured shirt on when he meets clients! Now I won’t be able to colour it.
As for my asura, she loves to dress as an explorer when going to cities, and other relatively safe areas in Tyria. As I understand it, this outfit will not be possible in the new ‘Wardrobe’ system.
I feel your pain. I feel the same way. Some of my characters enjoy having an “after work” life and wearing casual clothes instead of their adventuring gear.
Exactly. The Town Clothes function, as it stands at the moment, is amazing. It does exactly what it says on the tin. A forth armour class that all characters can wear while not at work (in combat). Its like, non-cambat clothes for non-combat maps (not necessarily exclusive to non-combat maps ofc). Town clothes for when in towns, like how much more straight forward than that could it be?! Just leave it alone!
Clothing was meant to offer visual options that break the class roles, however we were never completely happy with the way it was isolated from the rest of the game and still felt largely the same.
I said it before, “Thats EXACTLY how it should be”.

Its just a shame (but an understandable shame) that some people love their town clothes more than their armour and want to fight in them. I personally just key-bound the toggle to right CTRL and swap when im not fighting.
ArenaNet should be celebrating and promoting town clothes as one of GW2s major features, not removing it.

Okay… I’m sorry.
Right now, there is a lot of raw emotion being thrown out here, and it’s not going to always be logical. I’m going to stop demanding it be so. Have a good night, and whatever happens, try and have fun whether it is with this game or a different one.
No need to be sorry on my account man, I wasn’t taking offence. We were just having a descussion.
Your right though, a lot of emotion here on this topic. Im not mad or angry in any way with any of my fellow players, no matter their opinion. If Im honest though, I am upset and angry with ArenaNet.
Sorry you think it so ridiculous a concept man.
I wasn’t making a point about them changing the content of the game, but removing content that I payed for.
I know that because we never actually own anything within the game as thats what we’re agreeing to with the terms and conditions. We agree that everything in the game belongs to them so they in fact cannot technicaly steal anyhting. But thats a technical argument and I was more making a moral one. I also said that it was theft “as far as I was concerened”.
Look, I know that my account, characters and all the digital content that I have payed for aren’t technicaly mine (because of the ToC I agreed to) but come on, it bloody well is! If I buy/pay for a car, its mine. if I buy/pay for a house, its mine. Anything that I buy and pay for legally, is mine. In just about every other industry in the world, any products you buy, you take ownership of but not in this MMO. If It were (just about) any other industry and I had bought an item that consisted of six components, and several monthes after the perchase, the company that sold me the item came and took five of the components back without my consent, that would be theft. No two ways about it, that would be theft. I bought it, took ownership of it and had it taken back without my permission and consent, thats theft.
BTW, in several countries of the world (countries like south Korea if i remember correctly), all digital property is concidered as much your as your material property and AreaNet would be liable.
Except it’s not.
It is not theft without ownership. The more accurate analogy is you leasing an item, and the company taking it back and replacing it with something else (which is something they are granted in most lease agreements). That is not theft, because the item you are leasing is not yours. You do NOT own it. There is no such thing as “moral” theft.
You do NOT own the content in the game, regardless of whether you put money into that game. That is quite clearly laid out intentionally, the content is not, and never will be yours.
You are disappointed. You are bitter because you aren’t getting what you want. And ya know what? That’s fine. You shouldn’t be happy if you aren’t getting what you want.
But one thing is not is theft, moral or otherwise.
I know I don’t technicaly own it, look at my quotes, we both know it.
But, it would be theft if I owned it and I should own it as I payed for it. If it were just about any other industry in the world I would own it. The only reason I don’t own it is because the want to keep the right to change and/or delete it after I have payed for it and the only way to do that is to refuse to give me ownership of it and that in my opion, is emoral. To tweek a well known phrase; I have my cake but can’t eat it. lol
snip
And here we go into left field sillyness.
Theft? Really? Come on. I get you’re disappointed, but seriously, get real.
Tell ya what. Ya really think it’s theft? Here ya go: http://www.fbi.gov/report-threats-and-crime
Follow that link, report Arena.net for theft, and see what happens.
Content within a game changes all the time, especially in MMOs. It is not theft. Period.
If you want to try and sway the opinion of a developer, accusing them of a felony probably isn’t going to tilt their ear your way.
Sorry you think it so ridiculous a concept man.

Just thought of the perfect comparison. Capital city and Lion’s Arch maps are non-combat maps in the same way that town clothes are non-combat clothes. Non-combat clothes for non-combat maps. Are they going to change the non-combat maps to combat maps too?
I was think about this Town Clothes issue again today when I was working and have come to the conclusion that it is actually theft.
When ArenaNet changed the Flamekissed skin, that was mainly inconciderate. We all accecpt the agreement everytime we sign in which says that they can do whatever they want with all the stuff in the game (in a nut shell). So, after they changed the skins, everyone that bought it still had six pieces of light armour. Six different pieces but still six pieces (so not quite theft).
With this new update, we lose around 4 pieces from each costume set and will lose many individual pieces of town clothes altogether. We will be given some replacement items for most of the stuff they change or remove but these items function almost completely differently. We will not recieve any replacement items for the other pieces of the costumes that will be removed from the game when they make three, four and five piece costumes just one piece costumes. That is thieft as far as Im concerened. With each costume set, I paid for and recievied several items and they are going to take away all but one. As far as I can remember, I sign away my rights to deal with their thievery in the way I might do with normal theft (by taking legal proceedings against them) when I sign in and agree to their terms and conditions. But… this does not change the fact that this is still theft (or it is as far as im concerned).
Added: Actually, I was also thinking how they said “wait and see the new Flamekissed armour, you may even like it”. Well we did, and it’s crap! Now we’re getting the same story, “wait and see”. You know what, I’d rather not! I’d rather not wait till after the update to have say “It’s crap. I told you it was going to be crap and it is crap!”. I’d much rather they just left it till there’s a better solution because there’s a slim chance they’ll bring it back once they’ve taken it out.

You’ll see more outfits coming out this summer and additions to the game more often usable by your characters.
and you can look forward to more new outfits coming very soon.
You’re out of your mind if you think I will trust you as a company with my money once more. What else will change that I paid money for and can’t get a proper refund for? Gems I can get returned, but not the money I bought them with.
I really don’t want to come off as offensive, but I’m thoroughly disappointed in the entirety of Arenanet.
Absolutly right.
Well, up to the point of “entirety of Arenanet”, Im not sure I’d go that far but no way I’ll be giving them my money again.
Clothing was meant to offer visual options that break the class roles, however we were never completely happy with the way it was isolated from the rest of the game and still felt largely the same.
But thats exactly what was perfect about it. Thats EXACTLY how it should be.
Look, if im a welder (which I am), I wear overalls and a mask to work. A fitness trainer might wear a tracksuit and trainers and a stock broker might wear a suit and tie.
But, when we all get home, we all wear the same casual clothes. Ok, I know thats not a perfect example because we all wear different casuals but you get my point, We all have work clothes specific to our profession (same as the armour class in game) but we all wear the same non-profession-specific clothes after work. You get what Im getting at.
The Town Clothes function was (or is as it stands at the moment) amazing. It does exactly what it says on the tin. A forth armour class that all characters can wear while not at work (in combat). The only problem is that there are not enough activities, games and events to do in them.

GW has always had a general ethos of realism in the game. Like for example, you can’t make your characters look like manga or cartoon characters because they want to keep a particular sence of realism or you can’t make your characters super big or small. In my opinion, letting people be "able to “costume” while adventuring" is a step in the wrong direction. One of the things that specific and unique to GW2 is the Town Clothes system. It should be celebrated and expanded apon, not removed.
Realism? Like weapons that shoot unicorns? Or like wearing a stuffed quaggan backpack into combat?
Lol, It’s not lost on me the irony of my statment but the game is set in a fictional reality.
One of the main aims of any piece of fiction is to make the reality in which it’s set seem believable. So far, in my opinion, GW has done a cracking job but I feel that this does not complaiment the game.
Many people wanted to be able to choose their look for the clothing they wore while adventuring, not only standing around town. Apparently enough people that Anet decided to make this change. Being able to “costume” while adventuring is also a large feature in many other MMOs so having it here may attract new players.
Although I also want the “mix and match” ability.

Here are some of my favourite characters in their casuals. I have more and some of them have full Town Clothes sets but as they arn’t really my favourit and as they havn’t really been customised, I didn’t bother adding pics of them. As you can see, nearly all these characters have had Town Clothes or Toys bought for them. (read my post a few posts back for full details on just how many characters I have bought town clothes for).
If they go ahead with this system, they will be robbing us of half our character customision potentional. I say NO to the impending Town Clothes changes!
To me, the town clothes system is bloody ace! It is actually in fact, one of my favourite aspects of the game as it is another way to costomise our characters. I have 17 characters and all of them have a unique set of town clothes. For me, the single most fun and important thing in this game after the social aspect is customising my characters.
If this change to the town clothes system is made, I will absolutly refuse to buy gems again and I may even quit GW2 altogether. Now I know that sounds a bit drastic but I’ll try explain (so that this post might help them understand and/or change their minds as apposed to it just being a rant post :p ).
I’ll start by explaining the lengths I go to to customise my characters and then come back on to the topic of town clothes so hold with me for a min guys. : )
When I create a new character, the first thing I do after the starter mission is go to the trading post and/or gem store and buy armour and weapons to fully customise my character. I then transmute the same skins onto all the new armour and weapons the character gets as it levels up to 80. You can imagine how many transmution stones and crystals I have bought since release. Thats roughly about 10 every time I upgrade my armour and weapons every 5 or 10 levels and for 17 chars. (so thats easly in excess of 1500+). Now think how much money I have spent buying the gems to buy them. To be fair, I got some from map completion and other ways but only a fraction of the total. I hope you are starting to see how important customising my characters is to me now.
This is where I come back to the topic of town clothes. As I said earlier, the only thing in the game I think more important and fun than customising my characters is the social aspect. This means that I spend quite a bit of time just stood about chatting in the capitals and Lion’s Arch and showing of my unique look (as we all do im sure lol). The problem with just stanting about casually in my combat armour is that it really spoils the ambiance. Like, im stood there laughing and joking with ppl but buried in armour and bristling with weapons. Not really a casual look is it, lol.
So, the second thing I do after customising the weapons and armour of my character is then to customise their town clothes. As we know, nearly all the town clothes in the game have to be baught with gems. I have baught town clothes for 17 characters now so that’s a hell of a lot of gems I’ve baught just to look good while stood about in chating (not to mention the amount I have baught already to customise my weapons and armour).
That could really be concidered quite exessive but the point in town clothes is that you can show a whole other aspect of you char. How they look while they go about their normal day-to-day stuff. Some look very smart and posh, some look rough and rougish, some look like they are in their work clothes and some look like they are in fancy dress but all of them look like the general citizen that you might expect to find wandering about Lion’s Arch, the captal cities or any of the many outposts and villages to be found around Tyria.
Now that you can see how important customising my characters is to me, I hope you can see why removing the current town clothes system would cause me to react in such a way as to stop buying gems and even quit the game althogher.
The solution to and Ideas for town clothes, as I see it:
BTW, Can someone point me to the where Anet said they are going to make these changes, please. I would really like to see it from the horses mouth. : )
Note: I thought I better explain, in case maybe you were thinking that Im a fickle player, that I have been a part of the Guild Wars community since just after the first Guild Wars game was released. I met my wife in GW and we now have 4 kids. I never thought that I would abandon GW no matter how bad I thought they messed up.
But… after the flamekissed issue, I really felt messed about (with it being a character customisation issue i particcually took offence to it) and now there is this issue. Its like, in a game where character custoisation is the second most important aspect, I feel that we are about to lose 50% of out character customisation potential.
With this recent Flamekissed issue, I saw this idea to solve the issue of us losing an armour skin with a T3 mesh and adding more T3 armour variation (actually, i think she means all cultural but I think just T3 would be enough).
As suggested in other topics and probably this one as well, they can spend some effort making every race’s Cultural have similar particle effects and textures. Then add a recipe for the Mystic Forge where you upgrade your race’s Cultural into this new particle-flashy design. That of course does not make everyone happy, there are other races who simply love the HCLT3 armor, who simply doesn’t want their own race’s Cultural in a similar design. But at least it means the design doesn’t need to get completely trashed, and Human characters can re-gain that look. I would also be interested in upgrading the Cultural’s for my other characters of different races, into a new design such as this.
- Make similar themed design updates to every races Tier 3 Cultural armors.
- Add a Gem Store item that serves as an ingredient for the “upgraded” design, making ArenaNet some money in the process. Re-designing all these meshes are probably going to take some work after all.
- Add a Mystic Forge recipe that requires this Gem Store ingredient, the Cultural piece and misc. other materials (e.g., Molten Lodestones and/or dungeon tokens).
- Optionally: Allow for materials to customize the color of the textures/particles (e.g., Molten Lodestones for the current Flamekissed design, Crystal Lodestones for a pink-ish Mesmer-type glow, Glacial for a blue/ice-type glow, etc.).
There was more to the post but I have only quoted the relevant bit. I think this is a supreme idea and so put it forward as a suggestion, if Absconditus.6804 hasn’t already (couldn’t see it at first glance if she/he did).
You have the interface size too small. I get the same problem if I try set mine as small as I’d like to have it. I just have to make do with it the next size up. Good luck. : )

For all I know, the new design may be even greater than the current CHLT3 armor mesh though. Even if it may be hard to top how good this set already looks. Regardless, I’m sure I’ll miss my current Mesmer-looks once it updates.
I have suggested the same thing, an upgraded version of all t3 sets but very much like the idea of different materials affecting the appearance. In a perfect world, that would be amazing!
Also, the problem with the new re-skin of the Flamekissed armour is that no matter how cool it is, it won’t use the T3 skin mesh. A lot of people (me included) only bought it because of that mesh, because we saw it as in improvement to the T3 (dispite being gutted that it had been added to the game in such a way). There is not another single armour set in the game that they could have used that I would have bought and replaced my existing T3 with.
P.S. I put up a reply on the last page, bout 3/4 the way down with a pic i did messing about of what the other human T3 sets might look like. I’d love for them to add the other t3 human sets as flame armours and have two full sets, one t3 mesh, one crappy mesh (like the existing medium and heavy). Ofc, that wouldn’t please everyone but what can we do. : )
(edited by Titan Cronus.9216)
When the armour was first released, I said like WTF, you’ve jusr reskied the human T3. Well out of order!
Then I thought, well, seeing as it’s here now and seeing as I already have the human T3 and personally think that Human T3 is the best light armour in the game, I think I’ll have some of that!
At no point did I think I’ll just nip off the the forum and complain, lol. But… whats done, is done. : (
Anyhoo, I got it, replaced my existing T3 with it and now Im gunna lose it. All in a days work….
I thought the best way to have solved it all would have been to make more sets, maybe with the two other human T3 skins (now that would really marmite things up! either drive ppl into a livid blood boiling vein popping rage or totally blow their little minds away with awesomeness).
Could have looked like this (only better coz not done by me :p):
(edited by Titan Cronus.9216)
I do feel bad for the people who like the skin and wish to keep it, but I also feel that if they wanted the Human T3 skin, then they should have rolled Human.
I did and had the T3 skin but then replaced it with the new Flamekissed one.
BTW, There are a lot of ppl saying “Why in Tyria would you replace your T3 set with a gem store set?” but the answer is simple (for me at least). I already had two other sets of armour but most obviously because it has the exact same skin but with a fiery effect.
Something else has just occured to me, there are non-human NPCs with the human T3 light armour. So, with that in mind, why’s it a problem that non-human players should also have it?
A wise man once said, “A good compromise leaves everyone feeling cheated”. it sounds totally wrong but its actually true. In a good compromise, no-one ever gets exactly what they want or feel is fair.
I bought the Set and replaced my t3 human cultural set with it and personally, would love to keep the set I bought but Im trying to look at this objectively now that I have calmed down a bit. This is how I see the issue atm:
Primary issue: An armour skin was released that some ppl feel should not have been added. Does removing the armour solve the problem?
yes:
No:
Consequent Issue: If the new armour set if kept or removed, what are the ramifications?
If kept:
If Removed
When I look at it like that, it’s clear to me that no matter what they do, people are going to upset. They have already said that they are going to remove and replace it. They also intend to reimburse people that bought the current skin but don’t like the replacement skin with the 800 gems the set cost. Ofc, Im still hanging on to the hope that with civilised, reasonable and articulate descussion, we can change their mind. Hopefully, come up with something that upsets the minimum amount of people. : )
After reading these threads all evening, here is the problem as I see it. The problem in the first place was that people were upset that this light set was too close to the human t3 cultural light set. A solution to this would have been/to be create two more t3 equivelant sets (as its pretty unfair to remove an armour set from the game that people have already seen or bought). There would then be a t3 equivelant set for each armour class. The cost of these sets would then have to be increased to closer repersent the cost of the cultural t3 sets as people would be/are quite upset that it is possible to aquire a set of armour that looks of equal quality to cultural t3 but at less than half the cost. A new lesser quality light armour set will still need to be created to match the two existing medium and heave sets we have already.
People that have already bought the new light set would be refunded their 800 gems. They could then either buy the new replacement skin that will be released or spend a bit more and get the t3 lookalike one. Ofcorse, there will be people who will be upset that the set they got for 800 gems now costs more but at least we’ll still have it in the game. Unfortunatly, there is just no way this whole issue can be sorted in such a way that everyone will be happy.
BTW. I bought the new set and used it on my old human t3 set and will be very upset if we lose it because it will have cost me my old human t3 cultural set and the cost of the gems. I know i’ll get them back but I simply wouldn’t have bought the gems for any other skin in the game. I know there will be people left upset at the end of all this no matter what happens and Im likely to be one of them but I just hope that we get to keep the existing skin in some form.

I am not a mod but I would assume trying to circumvent the rules would end with a ban instead of just a infraction.
I wasn’t trying to circumvent the rules, i didn’t even know that it wasn’t allowed. Also, I only continued my topic here because the mod suggest I should, in a way that encouraged discussion and debate ofc. : )
I just created an opinion poll thread but it was merged. I thought it would be nice to see what ppl would like to happen next with this set and its skin. I also thought that it would make things easier for them to have a single thread that was only a poll so they could get peoples opinions without reading all the discussions but obviously not lol. I might as well continue it here as they merged it to here. : )
Copy/Paste/Edit the options with your replies. : )
(feel free to add new options ofc)
[ ] Change the skin and refund those that don’t like it.
[ ] Change the skin but let ppl choose old or new.
[ ] Change the skin but let ppl how used it on human T3 to keep old one.
[x] Keep the skin and change the other two sets to T3 skins.
[ ] Make three new sets making three T3 sets and three normal.
Personally, I don’t care what they do as long as I get to keep the existing skin. Unlikely I know : (
Im absolutly gutted.
I have bought the set, used it on my already t-muted humanT3 set and now found out Im going to lose it. So, now I have lost my T3 set, will lose my new T3 lookalike Flamekissed set and have wasted the 170 ish gold that it cost me to get them. : (
I know I can get the 800 gems back if I don’t like the new skin they bring out but thats not the point, what were they doing in the first place bringing out a set using that T3 skin. Also, I wouldn’t have bought the gems in the first place for any other skin (literally! he’s my main and T3 is the best in game imo and he had it already). Like, what could be better than a human T3 set other than a T3 lookalike set but that burns and glows.
I bought the set (even though I though Anet had messed up big time by using a T3 skin for a new armour set) because I thought it would be one of those things that we’d just have to “deal with” so I might as well get over it and buy it. Especially seeing as how I do actually love the T3 skin enough to have got it already and this new one was the same and so much better.
Im absolutly gutted.
P.S. Just look at what I’ll be losing. : (

I keep on seeing ppl in game saying how they still need the achievement from scarlet but can’t because the invasions are being increasingly farmed.
So, I decided to try see if i could turn one of the invasions around and get it completed dispite all the farmers. It actually worked quite well and everyone got the achievement. Ofc, it took a lot of other players also trying to complete the invasion and being willing to listen to me (im not a commander or anything). Unfortunately, it did kitten off some of the farmers a lot but only as much as they annoy the ppl trying to get the invasion done I reckon. Anyhow, here’s what to do:
Firstly: You need to find if there are other ppl in your map that also want to fight Scarlet because you can’t do it on your own, you will need few parties worth of you at least.
Aetherblade Events: What the farmers want to do is when the wave with the Aetherblade events begins, they will complete an Aetherblade event untill the Aetherblade Captain spawns then they will ignore him and only fight the champions that spawn with him. If all the foes that were spawned with him are all killed, another round will spawn with more champons. This can potentially go on untill the invasion ends. Generally though, there will be a few ppl not farming that will eventually kill the Captain but not before the farmers have had a shedload of chests.
Solution: When the wave with the Aetherblades begins, go straight to the Aetherblade events right away. If an event has scaled up enough to have Champions, don’t just go for them. You have to reduce the number of foes to get the next round to spawn. Then, when the Captain spawns, give him everything you’v got! By doing so, the event will end and the farmers will move onto the next one. Basically, follow the farmers and use them to get the Captains to spawn then hammer them. When all the Aetherblade events are done, there’s only Minion events left for them to get their champs from so you all sorted for the rest of that wave. : )
Molten Alliance events: This wave is pretty simple with two types of events, Shaman Champion events and Machine events. There farmers will always go for the Champion events but these can take quite a bit to finish depending on how many ppl are there. The Machine events are generally ignored by the farmers but are a lot quicker to complete.
Solution: Split up into ones and twoes and go straight for the Machine events. These can be soloed in a lot less than a minute with ranged weapons by just killing the Machine and ignoring all the foes. After enough of the Machine events have been done, the Molten Alliance wave will be over and the Champion will stop spawning, leaveing only Minion events for you and the farmers to finish.
I hope this helps those of you that still need the achievement. Good Luck guys.
P.S If your a farmer or sympathise with the farmers, please don’t gripe here. : ) This post is not a go at farmers or farming, just a suggestion for other ppl about how to get their achievement in maps where mass farming is going on.
P.P.S If you find this useful and it helps you get your achievement, you could always show your appreciation by making a donation to the Crónus commander fund. ;-) ;-) i> i>

Yea, pretty sure you will be able to link the accounts. Any yes, if you get Eye of the North expansion for gw (1) you’ll be able to earn points through game activities that will get you weapon and armour skins in gw2. Search “Hall of Monuments” on either the gw or gw2 wiki to see what im on about. : )
I created 5 characters on day one of the early release. The very first one has not received a birthday present; however all of the other 4 have.
Same thing, 3 of 4 characters have gifts but not the first one created.
Doesn’t this make the most sense? Our skeletons are determined before we decide what we want to be when we grow up. :P
Well, yes and no, lol. We are born with a skeleton shape but we can/do change it as we grow (by diet and working out, or lack there of).
Anyhow, Im not on about anatomical skeletons, I mean the models skeleton. : ) They could use the skeleton of the burly human (only scaled up) and attach all the norn animatioms and skins to that.
I think the skinniest male norn body is the representation of a norn who doesn’t spend all his time working out. because norn are naturally sturdier than human proportions.
Yea, i think he’s the best example but his hips are just too wide. Its because his body uses the same skeleton as the larger norn but he should have the skeleton of the burly human (only scaled up). All imo ofc : )
But thats what norn are, massive humans. I think its right to have the female bodies just like scaled up versions of sturdy, well built human women. I also think that in general, the existing male bodies are right. Basically, they’re just massive human males but due to their culture have gone out of their way to be as big and strong as they can be, hence the massive muscular bodies.
Although most norn would be hulking giants, not all would be. For example, those that follow the teachings of the Snow Leopard or Raven. Teachings that do not encourage strength but cunning and wisdom and the like inatead. My problem is that there should be a body to repersent them, a body of a norn that has not spent all his time working out lol. Basically, just a scaled up well built human.
Quoteing Regina Buenaobra: “As we have said in the past, we do plan to have guild halls one day, but it’s not a feature we’re currently actively working on.”
I was thinking how we might be waiting for guild halls for quite some time as it’s not something they’re currently on. So, in the mean time, why not allow one of the member’s home instances be a temporary guild hall?
This could be done with a hell of a lot less work than making guilds halls. I reckon this could be done by adding something to the guild pannel UI to designate a member’s home instance as a guild hall or maybe by adding some kind of item like a Temporary Guild Way Point or what not that when used in a home instande makes that instance a guild hall for as long as members remain in it.
I know, of course, that I have probably over simplified how easy it would be to implement this idea but if you would fancy seeing something like this while we wait for the real thing then stand up and be counted.
(or conversely, just type you approvement lol)
I know there has been a lot of topics about the male/female bodies but just wanted to get a post for thoese who whould like to see a new male norn body. One slightly more human, with less widely spaced hips and a smaller neck/sholder. Maybe even get some feedback form a dev.
So, all in favour say “Aye!”
I atually created my first 5 chars in headstart, august 25th, which is my actual birthday so im eagerly anticipating the birthdays. Roll on the 25th lol
With GW2’s first birthday just around the corner, and with it the first birthdays of characters created at launch, I wonder has anyone heard anything about what we might expect?
Do we think there will be some kind of ingame event? I don’t actually remember if there was ever an ingame birthday event like that in GW….
Also, I so hope if our chars get prezzies, its not going to be mini’s again (not that I can complain about free items of any kind but you know what i mean).
What cheap-skate servers are you playing on where JP-seige makes any difference whatsoever? You’re really arguing that the 2 BPs (times however many alts you have) you get are worth taking up a player slot? Or that you wouldn’t get just as much silver from actively playing WvW to buy the same seige? I have never ever seen a server run out of seige because the enemy is doing such a good job of camping the JP. You know why? Because you can freakin buy BPs at the seigemaster for the same amount of silver/badges you make in 10 minutes of just playing WvW. Servers never ever have a problem of not having enough blueprints; if you’re a commander and ask for 2 rams at a gate you’ll inevitably get 4 thrown down. The availability of blueprints far far out-strips the availability of supply, you simply can’t run out.
Ridiculous argument is ridiculous.
Who ever said that our servers depended on our BPs? We said that, because of the jp, we have been able to contribute loads of more siege engines to our servers cause. Im my case, I have contributed to hundreds and hundreds of siege engines to my server’s efforts. Also, indirectly, through porting ppl up to the chest, I have contributed to thousands of more siege engines and BPs for the cause, Now how on earth can that be a bad thing.
And surely, haveing one or two mesmers offering ports in the jp is worth the spots in the queue? They allow players to get the chest and be back in the battle in less than 3 mins with 2 new BPs and several BoH.
Well you lot who failed to see it’s use got your wish. The entire JP is a massive joke now and not worth doing. Account bound chest and no more orichalcum.
Exactally!
I have contributed hundreds and hundreds of siege engines to my server’s efforts in WvW and have never spent a single copper on them. I also have full exotic gear bought mostly with badges from the jump chest so that I can be of the greatest impact when fighting in WvW.
If you also take into account all the portals I have provided for other players while helping them get to the chest too, then I have actually contributed to thousands of siege engines for my server, not to mention the armour ppl bought with the BoH they got from the chests I helped them get.
The vast majority of the ppl I ported up to the chest only came because I used map chat to let them know I was in the jump porting ppl. They came because I was able to port them up, saving them 90% of the time the jump would normally take and in doing so, allowing them to get back into the WvW fight as quick as possible. And, with two new siege engins and several BoH to boot.
What a selfish and ignornt guy I am. Sorry bout that guys, we can’t all be perfect team players.
Like really, what the hell have they done to the jump challenge area?
And, how are you meant to get back into WvW without leaving EB. You can’t go back through the portal that you used to get in and the portal at the end, near the chest, only takes you to LA. All the waypoints your team owns in EB are contested to you for as long as you are in the jump challenge area so you cant just map out.
So basically, the only way back into EB from the jump challange area (unless I have missed something) is to leave EB altogether and then re-enter. Not the end of the world I know but if theres a massive queue, you have to start queueing all over again. It’s bad enough that the chest has been made account wide but that understandable but this absolutly daft.
Also, Portals…. why?
Am I the only one that hates all the changes to the EB jump challenge area?

Here’s one for a ranger, for anyone with a free char slot. Boah Narrow. Had a friend with a pet boa snake with that name. Had another boa called Feather (feather boa). They always cracked me up.
There are also low level areas you can grind. There are a few spots that I go grind when I get really bored. Basically your looking for an area (not a zone, just a small piece of a map) where the foes are tightly packed. I have a few areas in the starter areas then the 35/45 areas and then some in the two 80 areas. You generally want to be a good few levels above your target foes. I would suggest looking for an area with bandits, skritt or dredge or something that drops loot bags. This will help make a little extra money from selling the mats from the bags or you can use the mats to craft your way up a few levels every now and again. Also, if you attempt this, you may want to use some Magic Find gear, after you’ve killed a few hundred foes, you really start to notice the difference.
I know its grind (and I really hate grind) but you can make a game of it or what ever. I usually try to see how mant foes I can agro and kill at once.
Thankyou so much for all your kindness guys. : )
Thanks a million for all the kind words guys. Its a really cool touch to an already perfect day.
Its also really cool to hear of other couples who met online and in GW. I wish you all the best in life too guys.
Thanks a million.
My missus had a lil girl when we met so now there are 6 of us. This is our fourth girl though (or my third but they’re all mine/ours if you know what I mean) so Im feeling a lil outnumbered lol.
We had the baby at home. Mum has just gone to bed to sleep for a week and I have just setteled the baby. I though that now they were all asleep, I would like to find a way to say thankyou to ArenaNet and this is what I came up with lol. : )
I met my missus in Kamadan (GW) about 6 years ago and this morning we had our third kid. I don’t know where or how to say thankyou but thought that maybe someone from the staff might see it here. That maybe someone who was involved in GW might see it and be glad to know that is some small or large way, they are partly responsible for brinning new life into the world lol.
Thanks you so much! Thankyou for the game and for another arena for people to meet and make friends and occasionally, as in my case, even partners. I could say so much more but as I don’t even know if anyone from ArenaNet or GW2 will even read this, I’ll just leave it there.
Thankyou So Much.

I sent in a ticket six days ago. It was transfered to a senior member of the Guild Wars Support Team but Im still waiting for the issues to be resolved (or even a reply from a senior member).
My ticket number is: 121220-001332
I also submitted another ticket before this one that took nearly three days too so I have been waiting quite some time for a resolution.
Thanks a million : )
Nah, its just random chance, well 95% of the time at least. Mike O’Brien said this about how the hacks are happpening:
“hackers use tens of thousands of different IP addresses to scan through millions of attempted account names and passwords, almost all of which are for accounts that don’t even exist in our database, looking for matches. They’re not guessing or brute-forcing passwords; they’re trying a very specific account name and password for each attempt. For example, account name “joe.user@example.com”, password “alligator101?. If they don’t get a match immediately, they may try a variant like “alligator100? or “alligator102?, then they quickly move on to the next entry on their list.”
Just a bit further down the same post he says:
“But in recent years, a truly staggering number of game companies and web sites have had their account databases breached. These reports of security breaches — 77 million accounts, 25 million accounts, 24 million accounts, untold millions more — may seem abstract, too big to be real, but they’re obviously not. The information stolen from database breaches is worth a lot of money to hackers, who can take the stolen account credentials and use them to attack each new game that’s released.”
So, the account information has been stolen. You really do get an idea on why it is so important to have an unique password for everything though.
You can see the whole post by Mike O’Brien here, it’s well worth a read.
They won’t be working today bro, not a hope so if its something that they are just waiting to activate, it will be tomorrow at the earliest. Let us know how it goes though bro.
Good Luck. ; )
It worked for me. I know the GW2 acount isn’t tied to the master account but that still doesn’t change the fact that resetting the GW password also resets the GW2 password.
