NCSOFT = NC Interactive, Inc.
I thought NCSOFT was selling NC Interactive to establish new subsidiary?
If they already sold NC Interactive does that render the agreement Null and Void?
The reason for the set unchangeable skills is because they admitted that Guild Wars 1 style was a failure becoming exponentially more complex when trying to balance skills.
They have said that:
The trait tree has tiers so it can be easily expanded.
We will have new utility skills.
New weapons for each class will come with expansions(on the forums during beta a dev mentioned saving things like a Great Axe for an expansion)
I have been defending the story of this game since launch, but when I saw the Dredge and Flame Legion behind Fire and Ice I said, “Who cares….?”
from testing my conditions there is a duration cap on those of 1 minute, is it the same for boons?
About raiding it’s pretty much I would rather do this story an infinite number of times than ever do another raid.
The more times I do this story the more I see holes being filled in.
I can see that Phasing is either not being implemented in GW2 because either they don’t have the ability or they don’t want to. It’s clear when the inside of a building has to match the exact dimensions of the outside. I’ve seen in other mmos where 2 rooms can occupy the same XYZ axis in the game. Guild Wars 2 seems to not have this capability.
My point in talking about different sections of the game is why do you insist in posting on something you don’t like rather than posting on a forum that you do like. Things that you like are much more important and that is what you should focus on. Complaining is pointless if you don’t know how to fix it. A story is just that. Go to a forum you like and post how they could make you like it more.
And one more thing, my posts are debating your reasoning, not the message you seem to be hammering home.

I knew that was what you would say, but for me the story exists more in my head than in the game. This is the essence of role playing. They give you a starting point and then you choose how to interpret it and where to take it.
This game is designed to appeal to most people in a different way.
Story for those people who love story.
Dynamic Events for those that love a random chaotic feel.
Crafting is another community that has specific wants.
Some people play because they like the graphics.
Renown hearts are there for those that need direction in their gaming.
The point of the game is to find what you enjoy and stick with it. Don’t start the game with expectations that X is going to be awesome or be upset that you didn’t like something. Pick what you like and stick with it. If you don’t like anything, it’s a free to play game, then don’t play.
The story is still infinitely better than a story told by raiding.
We can’t talk game mechanics unless we know what this heavily modified Guild Wars 1 engine is capable of.
NPCs exclaiming that an attack was happening was put in place as a replacement for quest hubs. It was suppose to make you feel more active in the game.
I do not question a storyline that I did not write. I just think of what they could possibly have been thinking and go with that. I can’t see it completely from their point of view so I just have to accept that.
Before the mouth you kill an eye, I assume the eye died because Zhaitan was arrogant, “partially blinding Zhaitan”. This allowed us to strike at the mouth. After doing the story 4 times now and 2 other characters at least halfway through the story I can see the story as a whole. I found my favorite NPC during my 3rd play through and that would be Elli. 2 characters later I found the first story she appears in around level 30.
Maybe they should put in a system that makes you lean towards npcs that you have had previous experiences with.
The home instance will be expanded on in the future.
I assume Apatia was probably the last of those 3 stories and needed a finale at 71.
You inform the bombers widow in one, and clean up a spy in the other.
I also assume that Forgal, Tybalt and Sieran story is not done yet.
In the Pale Tree vision at 55 we clearly did not make it with them to Orr and because of that you see the members of Destiny’s Edge in disarray and Caithe fall into nightmare. Through speculation I see that we weren’t there and Destiny’s Edge failed to come together so the attack on Orr failed.
This is an mmo, it’s not like a solo game where things can just change and stay that way. Eventually you will see the changes you made to the world through instances. The over world has to remain the same + new content for those that are just starting out.
The alternative to this in other mmos is raiding. The stories that are told through raiding are not worth mentioning. The guild wars 2 story is much better than any of those. The overworld in other mmos is even less memorable.
First of all ‘Hater’ does not mean disliking something. Hater means someone who is jealous.
2nd of all I run with this all the time, I am the tank for my minions and I got extra toughness for all minions I have up however short.
sounds like lag to me, there is a kind of lag when the game tries to catch up you see everything in fast forward
They said they already have at least the first 2 years of the games content updates planned, assuming the different combinations of item progression are tied to and planned with these content updates.
They said that future expansions are going to have different stat combinations on the new gear. This would completely negate their idea for future expansions even and they consider a different dominate stat to be a different stat combination.
They said that future expansions are going to have different stat combinations on the new gear, this would completely negate their idea for future expansion.,
I too play mm all the time, I am the tank and healer for my minions. I am Power toughness vitality, running Dagger-focus and staff, my dagger has water sigil for aoe heals and the 2nd skill on the staff you can maintain regen aoe. Traiting minions and putting minions on your utility bar is not enough to keep them alive. Seeing that most Aoes only hit 5 targets its better for it to hit a minion than you or another player. I am the tank for my minions and they serve me well.
Best idea is stay 1200+ range or behind, and yes it’s always been that range.
probably something yet to be implemented.
The story is all about utilizing each races strong points. We shed the idea of identity when we came together for the greater good, “A united Tyria is a stong Tyria.” I feel it is selfish to say “We helped save the world, but what’s in it for me?”

Getting X money or X karma is not grinding.
If you do the same event over and over you are choosing to grind,
If you do different events and explore many places to get X money and X karma, that is not grinding.
Disagree, at that point in the story all races had come together on one purpose, one course of action.
Like guild wars 1 you have to adjust your skills for where you go, you should be expected to switch out utility skills for the current area.
There are plenty of times when Trahearne says he would have failed without you and according to the pale tree’s vision if we didn’t go with Trahearne to Orr Destiny’s Edge would have failed to come together and Caithe was turned to Nightmare. It clearly showed they were lead to Orr but without us there they would have failed horribly.
I love the crafting, Master Crafter will be the only title I ever display.
Grinding is doing a repetitive task over and over that is not fun.
Just because you need X Karma and X Gold to get something doesn’t mean it’s grind. It’s only grind if you do the same thing over and over again to get X Karma and X Gold.
If you aren’t using Charge on an enemy pinned to a wall you are wrong.
Use your fears to heard an enemy against a wall, then run them over with Flesh Golem. OMG the numbers and watching the enemy flip and bounce off the ground is awesome.
Just right click on a color and set those colors you like to your favorites. No more searching for the colors you want.
There is hints at a predecessor to Abbadon. Whatever it is might come up in a future story.
I’ve spent 460 hours as an MM with 100% world completion and I haven’t found anything that could outright kill me in pve. There are a few fights in dungeons that you should not use minions.
Those fights that you are suppose to stand in one spot that it is the designated safe spot because of a game mechanic like the enemy can’t attack you but you can still hit them, I refuse to do those fights while standing in one spot, which also means that I don’t pug any dungeons. My guild knows I am an MM Tank with massive damage and we adjust our strategies accordingly.
If you ask about personal story you should give the level of the story, the name of it, the level you are, and the gear you are using.
Gold is very easy to farm, and I only see commander as a pretentious idea. Personally I would like the ability to stop commanders from appearing on my map.
A problem I see with your suggestion means that they can commander title up, buff the group, commander title down. A group of commanders would buff groups probably too much. A fix for that is if you drop commander status you get booted from wvw so as to not abuse your suggestion.
I prefer RNG, guaranteed loot cheapens the feel of a game to me. Time is not a factor for me as I have no concept of time. I play the game because I have a group of people to play with. I don’t have an expectation for loot, just an expectation for my community to play together.
The game is telling you the fastest way to get to where you are going but you don’t have access to that Asura gate up there. Map to one of the zones far south and then follow the marker.
But the Hylek are the only useful combat allies of all the lesser races
They’re stupid frogs. Nothing more. I suppose they make good distractions/cannon fodder.
I’ve tested all the lesser race stories already, especially in Orr. The Hylek were the only ones that didn’t die frequently and they do the most damage out of all of the races.
Farm everything between 55 and 80. If you are only farming level 80 areas you are playing the game like other mmos and you are wrong.
“The amount of loot that drops for downscaled players has been increased. You should now be able to receive level-equivalent loot until you are fighting at a downscaled level that is less than 2/3 of your actual level. You should also receive loot a greater percentage of the time as well as receiving a greater percentage of experience, gold, and karma. For level 80 characters, this means level 55+ areas will be able to drop level 80 gear and give about 75% or so of the other rewards. Previously, these areas would give level 77 gear at best and closer to 60% or so of your rewards.”
When fear was first announced they said that it would be specific to necros. If you are doing a guild wars reference the condition you suggested should really be Disease.
My Necro:
29,652 Health
2,791 Armor
3,191 Attack
I am a mobile fortress.
But the Hylek are the only useful combat allies of all the lesser races
Necro is bugged yes, but I just see that as a challenge. And no, necro is not the most bugged class in any mmo, that would be the conjuror from EQ2.
They already said they did all 3 of your suggestions and also stated that they weren’t going to have the item progression like other games of introducing a new tier every 3 months, ascended is the highest and will stay the highest for a very long time.
It’s more about the ability of the player than the class.
Minions are in the Toughness tree, because you are the tank for the minions. Minions should be secondary agro and you should be the primary. Do everything you can to keep the enemy focused on you. Necromancer is an endurance class, outlast the enemy and you win.
Current stats:
29,652 Health, 2,791 Armor, 3,191 Attack
I do enough consistent damage to wear out the dummy in Lion’s Arch solo. They are immune to conditions and crits yet I can run them out of health.
We get new recipes and crafting materials for this event.
It’s only grinding if you spend all your time doing the same thing over and over. If you do different things and only run each path in a dungeon once per day it is not grinding.
Doing the same path in a dungeon once per day is not grinding.
Spreading out the events you do to avoid Diminishing Returns is not grinding.
And you guys are looking at this not from a Guild Wars 2 standpoint.
Arenanet does not want you to grind so therefore antigrind mechanics.
Primary for playing the game is maximizing your build with a specific set of stats, then secondary is applying the look you want to the armor with the stats that makes your build work. Why would you wear something that looked good and hindered your build? In Guild Wars 1 you got the highest weapons and armor to get you through most of the content and the very END GAME was Obsidian Armor and Tormented Weapons.
Max stats > aesthetics when attempting to finish the end game in both games.
Diminishing returns is an antigrind mechanic. Grinding is doing the same thing over and over. If you are not doing the same thing over and over you are avoiding grinding and avoiding diminishing returns. I agree with this mentality. Making it less of a reward to grind makes you want to do other things.
That’s the absolute worst way to encourage you to do other things. Make everything else just as worth it and desirable to do instead of a hidden, ambiguous anti-grind DR mechanic.
When you are getting Diminishing Returns other events and places give you better loot so why keep doing it if the better loot is in another event or even in another zone? If you are saying you want to farm the same event over and over then you are saying you want to grind and you accept the Diminishing Returns that go along with grinding.
You obviously didn’t read my post whatsoever.
My post is saying that it is the absolute best way to get you to stop grinding the same content over and over and experience other stuff for a while. Other games reward you for doing the same thing over and over i.e. Raiding. Every piece of this game is equally as valid as any other piece at any level.

Don’t forget about PVE items you can use in WvW for some fun affects.
You aren’t required to get a legendary to get the best stats in the game so therefore it’s not required grinding.
