Let me put it this way. DR won 1st for the first time in 6 months the other week. Last week we saw numbers and coverage from DR that we haven’t seen in months. We still came in third, against two servers better ranked than us. Now a lot of our fair weathers have left, and a lot of our commanders are burnt out from going the extra mile last week. It would be silly for us to think we could take on two servers better ranked than the two we just faced. Look at the PPT right now, our coverage gaps are starting to show and we haven’t even made it to the weekdays yet where our coverage really drops off. We’d rather have fun than stress over winning like last week. I can only speak for a few of us when I say that though. I’m sure a lot of guilds are still going to push hard.

Just skimming posts in my old HoD server. Had to do a drive by post.

You should be a bit more respectful towards other small man guilds. Its a close knit community If you write too many checks and are known to be a disrespectful guild people will start talking about the checks that bounced.

You folks are decent but you should understand at this point there is room for improvement after getting some guilds serious mode on you.

I find its easier to set up GvG matches vs other good groups and try new class makes ups or play alts when egos are put aside and people chill with no fear of trolling.

It’s interesting that a lot of these small man groups looking for fair fights have people that consistently add into fights or wait to hit you while you are still fighting other people or just coming off of a fight knowing full well that will give them an advantage.

Want to know who I respect? Splt. Yes, they will go after you when they have more numbers (or even numbers or less numbers). Yes, they will attack you when you are fighting other people. But, they don’t complain on the forums when the same thing happens to them.

God Tots talks so much trash I wonder if he is actually any good (doubtful after seeing his slow reactions against Teivo and the like).

So much trash talk from KoM and they say “we are more a roaming group than organized 5v5.” You talk it up and run when confronted, I thought the point of this game was to have fun challenging fights.

I prefer the hunt and the chaotic nature of open-field combat to be honest. Organized 5v5’s where people make sure to come with the best build combo to take an opposing 5 in a designated area where you can’t use the terrain as a part of the fight, can’t use surprise for the initial attack etc. bores me. Too much like spvp.

If I get on later, I’ll check and see if there are guildies online who want to do your 5v5 stuff. You didn’t show up at the first fight at the centaur camp and didn’t say you couldn’t make it, thus you forfeit. We won’t be able to make your other suggested timing though. I guess that leaves us one up.

We aren’t that great but it’s a nice way to meet the other servers and according to the previous forum war you guys are good. I’ve seen a lot of individual good players from your server but not many groups.

You were defeated inside of your zerg, not once but three times. Full HP, you had all of your cool downs and I had all of mine (except I had to use 2 of them to engage on you to get past your zerg that you hide behind, so in reality I started with one). I had to track you through clones and many name tags as well as dodge any attacks that came.

Its not about stomping you. Its about letting you know you are a bad player by stomping all over you. We don’t make any ridiculous claims but our core group is rolling your server, look at the score, ask your commanders. We are good at the WvW game. I agree attic. Anet could fix a lot of these issues / increase competitiveness by a couple easy fixes. Raise Aoe cap to 10 or 15, scale wxp/xp so the smaller the group used to kill a player / take a tower the more xp given (running in Zergs basically weeding out any xp given because its just too easy to get) out of combat rezzing of the dead, and the big one IMO other than Aoe cap GROUP BUFFS ONLY. People grouped get the buffs/condi removal… non grouped members get notta. This stuff was used in games 10 years ago. It really isn’t rocket science.

In my opinion I have always seen smart Mobility > Zerg mentality. [Bags] focuses more on moving around and striking smart, and when we see a Zerg we never have a problem, we engage from ranged to get their attention, but with the idea that we are going to feint retreat hoping they chase us. And it works. Yes it sucks we have to avoid these full zergs but it’s a part of the game.
We find if we use builds that offer as much mobility as possible, and high damage we can string out groups of people, turn and get a few quick kills, and continue moving before the rest catch up. To be fair in our HoD matchup I never saw paxas 5 man. We ran into 5 KoM guardians, but they were a lot of bunker and nobody was winning. I think the 5 mans are around just not all at the same time.

I guess what I’m saying is we substitute going bunker/ group support for group mobility and burst damage. No we won’t be taking out zergs, but the zergs sure as hell don’t take us out. Maybe roaming groups need to try out thief mentality applied to group situations. Move smart and pick your kills.

Also you’re saying fix WvW for small man. One could also argue that WvW isn’t designed for small man, but large epic group fights. That’s why it makes small groups more impressive. If you want serious small man, reinvent your builds in sPvP because you’re playing the wrong game.

This matchup lacks a forum war, I think the JP trolling rage might end up being the highlight. I’m sure the fights are good though.

I understand what you’re saying but think about it from my standpoint.
When I go into the EB jumping puzzle I look forward to people camping it. Part of the fun in running through it for me is the fact that two other servers could be there and there might be people to fight. I like the fact that we are fighting over essentially the control of the puzzle. The fact that there are so many obstacles and elevated areas makes the PvP combat a lot of fun. You can do much more tactical movements when there are more things to move around on. If I find a large group or I am getting killed repetitively I leave, because I can come back later and do it.

I think what it comes down to is, if you don’t like PVP then do not use the PVP jumping puzzles. There are plenty of PvE jumping puzzles out there. And don’t tell me it’s for the badges, you can solo two camps and get 10 badges faster than most can run the puzzle.

I don’t understand it either. Other games can pull off the calculations, why is this one different or am I missing something here? Would really appreciate it if a Dev could enlighten us.

Ya I’m not sure what you’re talking about but send me a PM and enlighten me on the situation. Not sure how we cheated, if this is about a glitch in a tower gate I highly doubt that one tower would have changed the course of the matchup.

By saying we won by cheating is completely unfair and discredits all the hard work put in the last few days. Maybe some body exploited an accidental glitch but again that is one situation out of thousands that affected the outcome of the matchup.

I am far from the biggest fan of DDLG, but I will tell you that they are a good group of guys who seem to do things pretty above board. This is the first time I have seen them accused of it, and it would thoroughly surprise me if they cheated with the knowledge of their leadership. Without DDLG winning this matchup would have been much much harder for DR. Our relentless presence in IoJ borderlands made up a lot of points the last three days. Just ask any IoJ commander.

On behalf of [Bags] we did not post this video, however it was the first we had seen of this for all of us.
The timing on the stomp at the end of the video just seemed too perfect so we assumed it was a hack/bot, but we aren’t ones to make accusations.

Had we lost the fights because of this, maybe we would, but who wouldn’t. Don’t accuse us of poor sportsmanship though, because every time you lost you made an excuse about one person or another disconnecting…. That’s not exactly sportsmanship either.

Just Good fights, learn, and move on. In our opinion you guys were too much bunker and no DPS, we had one support guard, a glass necro, glass Mesmer, glass warrior and even a second guard running a glass build. Even with all that glass we could still tank the damage from when you focused us… Minus the necro, he dropped pretty fast. But thanks for the fights, always wondered how a fight against 4 guardians would turn out for us.

We see a lot of fly hacking and what not from random ET players, you guys have some people who are giving you a bad name so I can see how people would jump to conclusions.

On another note GREAT JOB DR, DDLG has been holding it down hard in IoJ borderlands, and it’s really been paying off. Great fights to everyone I hope we all learned a lot from this matchup.

Had fun hiding at Bay for 8m while 20 chased me in lords room, too bad i couldnt do it as long in hills. Sadly you only took hills not because numbers but because you use LOS on those AC’s because you couldnt kill us in there, thanks for the 200 badges today. also the numbers were even, we had 20 and you had 20-25. We wiped a good 10 of you at outer gate and didn’t let those 10 re enter so you might have mistaken your forces for less then they actually were Also did you really think we could win even numbers against a choke with 3 superior ac’s and 3 superior ballistas? We took out the siege so we could fight on even terms.

Yea, there was no way we had even numbers. Most of the people was in my guild and on TeamSpeak. Counted countless times and never had over 20. We lost cause we were out numbered, with the out manned buff. We wiped you guys so many times cause we had good already placed siege and communication. But for a fact you guys had way more then us. I mean really, gonna golem rush the keep twice with about 5-8 golems each with just that small of a group?

I didn’t count 20 on our side either, no you didn’t lose because you were outnumbered. You had plenty of opportunities to push us out which you missed and you had more then enough siege on all of the gates to defend against our golem rushes. And no you didn’t wipe our golems at outer we ditched them while we defanged the walls and stuff. I then asked the group in teamspeak to build more golems to help break down the outer gate (again you had atleast 3 superior arrow carts in non-AOE spots aimed at the gate we broke) so no rams wouldn’t have worked in that situation. And when we finally broke into inner we were getting pushed back because you had guess what? MORE superior siege! all of it just aimed at are already dwindling forces, so I got a mesmer to portal us to the left of the bridge but only 6-7 of us took the portal so I decided to order a pincer attack, it worked quite well and allowed us to bring the rest of our group to the left of the bridge. While we were rallying our forces we ported up anyone who died and then got ready for our assault on the lord’s room. We set up AC’s to get rid of the siege inside and then had a mesmer port us inside, again only 5 of us took the port and so we attacked you from behind and in front and we still managed to wipe you at the choke with equal numbers.

I remember it vividly and no DR no matter how much you want to say it was just numbers, it simply wasn’t

Okay… I was there and at no point did DR have any more than 14 people on your guys last golem push. We were severely outnumbered, you guys had at least 30. Anyone who was there knows.
Yes you did a great job of destroying the siege and getting in. But when it came down to sheer numbers in the lords room you guys had at least 10 or 15 more than us.

aaaaand about 40 golems later IoJ finally retakes their hills after over 16 hours. Got that waypoint, but only about 50% of the fortify. Great job DR

the screenshot doesn’t include the 5 man group we wiped prior to the rest of the DR zerg entering vale. DR had a solid 20 man group running around on DR BL, just wanted to point it out since you guys are always saying that the oceanics face zero resistance when they take your keeps.

If we are in first place we get 40-50 zergs but when we were losing it’s lucky for us to get even 15 man zerg. That’s a fact from IoJ.

That group of 40-50 we had didn’t last very long, they all went to bed at around 12:30AM-1:00AM CST. By 3:00AM we had less then 15 people in your borderlands.

I’m pretty sure they went to bed when they didn’t get past SW tower. xD We sort of countered everything you threw at us, including those trebs in the back of SW camp. Was a close one, but I’m proud to say I was the winner of Battle Treb. ;D

Great fights with BS at fight club last night… love me some challenging 5v5’s… look forward to future encounters.

I’ve learned a lot from you guys and really turned our guild around with it. Thanks for all the entertaining videos and being a great example of what needs to be done in open field combat.

I agree with this. On our server It feels like its the same 4 or 5 people maintaining and refreshing siege; this would definitely take a load off of everyone’s shoulders.

Gungthar you have to quit looking at the overall match score. It’s not as much first second or third. It’s about ther server rating evolution.

As it stands right now.

IoJ is dropping 50 overall rating points from this matchup. This means they should be winning by a whole lot more.

ET is gaining 57 points, they’re doing way better than they should be.

Devona’s Rest will lose 3 overall points. We are doing what we should be doing considering the other two servers overall rankings. Could be doing a tad better.
