I think most of you are just jealous…
Yes, the system has problems, yes, there are guys abusing the system (f.e. take a look at SoloQ #1 on EU), but don’t stop there! Look further, and you see that every one else, has played a lot of games!

For good teams it will be no problem to climbe up the ladder again and get rewards in a season based setup. The difference is, that it will be known that there are rewards coming (christmas!) and everyone can prepare for that. But at the moment the matchmaking and also the ladder are to broken to actually reward anything, imo. (Mainly focusing on soloQ here, but it is no secret that u can also farm wins in teamQ during night and at morning – ty hooma to point out that this is also possible during late night)

Hello, just want to throw in my thoughts here…

I asume there is no easy solution for the different server population. So i focus on how to deal with the problems!

In order to reduce the impact, that night caping (a server takes over all keeps of another server, which is mainly sleeping) has on the points, it would be an idea to introduce a threshold for the number of points a server can gain per hour.
This threshold would be based on the total amount of active players in relation to the other servers.
Total amount means players on ALL maps, to prevent a server from leaving a map to lower the points other servers can gain here.
Active would be an additional restiction to take out afk players, not sure if or how you can get them out…
This chance would do the following:
A server would still benefit from controlling all maps, because the other servers would gain NO/less points, but they would not be able to get a to big advantage from temporarily controlling all maps.

In additon you could rework the “outmanned buff” to reduce the amount of supplies required to build sige weapons, this would help small groups to attack keeps.
Another idea would be to introduce a second buff, that is activated if a server is stronger (in average) than both other servers (has more active players/more points/…) for more than 30 min. This buff would reduce the number of supplies that are required to upgrade keeps. (maybe it should also increase the number of hp, that are restored at walls/gates by repairing)
Again it is important to use the average, because a server could leave wvw temporarily to prevent the buff from activating. The goal of this buff is to allow it to a server to upgrade keeps more easy if the opponents are much stronger. The 30 min window is important to prevent a server from leaving wvw temporarily to get the buff.
But there would be still the problem, that the dominant server could just farm all dolyaks to cut up supplie. This is an important strategic option of course, but if a server is outmaned, this is massively increasing the preasure! To solve this the first dolyak leaving a camp of an outmaned server could be invulnerable. Invulnerable is maybe not the best mechanic, so maybe a captured camp could give a flat supply bonus to all keeps of the outmaned server.
For example if a outmaned server controlls only one tower, there could be a bonus of 50 supplies for every camp the server captures (on the map where the towers is). Or maybe 10 supplies per minute (same amout considering the 5 min invulnerability of a camp).

Poll: Would you wait for a better match?

For more context, I’m interested in improving matches beyond just finding players near your MMR. This includes doing things like preferring a better spread of professions and builds, matching people with dishonor with other people with dishonor, grouping people by rank or play style, etc…

These things can sound like a good idea, but can also cause you to wait in the queue longer.

Please keep in mind that players can reroll to another profession/build to adapt to their team or the opponents team. Also keep in mind, that the fact that i enter the queue as elementalist, does not mean that i will play as an elementalist… Maybe i’m just farming orichalcum in orr while waiting (5-10 min) for the matchup!

Wanted to hop in here and say that a rating reset will not touch lifetime stats like games played or won. You will keep the total number of games played for each rating type.

I think that is a very good idea!

But…
Please don’t give any kind of rewards for top rank players…
I want this because you would mostly reward the wrong people. A lot of the top tir acc are inactive or secound acc. Obviously you would also reward a lot of decent players!
And the matchmaking so far put players on low rank, even if they play decent. I played on two acc recently, so i guess the players on both acc’s (me) have the same skill-level. As is startet this, my main acc was in ladder around rank 900 and the other acc was on 90%. I played my main most of the time in the morning (europe!), i was very often matched up against top 200 players, which i know from my top 100 time… the result was, that i dropped down to 90% on my main. The reason for this matchups is that in the morning less players are playing and high ranked players are matched up with other high ranked players against lower ranked players. This is because of the long waiting times during the morning.
On the other hand the other acc was at first played during the prime time and went up to rank 500+. This was because in the evening the matchups are more fair, because more players are playing!
But now the interesting part… to test my theory about the matchmaking working as described above i startet to play the second acc in the morning! Theory says: Im around top 500 so im matched up with the good guys…
Reality says: I was indead matched up with other players with high rating and went up to top 250…

So PLEASE no rewards for top tir players because matchmaking is not fair! If people are only able to play in the morning they will never have a chance to get into the high ranks.

If you want to reward titels or anything else, please do what you are doing atm in wvw… make a season! If you do this everyone knows at wich point in time there will be rewards! It would be like christmas! Everyone knows the date when the presents are given
And noone has the stupid idea to start playing a new class, which he might not be familiar with… because this would prevent him from dropping in the ladder before christmas…

U asked for feedback, so…

1. Rewards for doing nothing is always critical and imo a very bad design decission. As others have noticed too, this leads some people to the greate idea just to log in their second/third/… acc’s and enter solo Q, just to get this free rewards! I don’t think that this was intended. => Lesson to learn: Do never ever give rewards for doing nothing!

2. As others said before, this reward would have been a nice thing, IF it would be given in ADDITION to the old reward! Like in GW 1 the bags for playing GvG

I know this problem too, ppl just never show up.
The reason for that could simply be ppl, which want to lower their rating in the ladder.

If ppl join the match afk, i agree with Hooma.9642, the queue times are often 8 min and longer (talking about top 200 matchups).
If a team has obiously no chance against the oponent team, players also often just stop playing, because beeing killed/farmed all the time is no fun. -> resign function might help, but plz be very very carefull with such a mechanic, don’t want to see red resign day again -.- On the other hand, players who stop playing if their team has obviously no chance are NOT a big problem!

EDIT: Nice to see an official paying attention to this problem
