Momentary Pacification: daze when you use an elite skill (10s CD). Good trait, not in the right place. Why? 3/5 stances do cc already, including ventari. It feels like it should be in retribution or corruption since it doesn’t work with Ventari and doesn’t fit the theme.

I have to disagree with you here. As a pacifist, it makes a lot of sense for Ventari’s favourite trait line to have Daze in it since it’s a pacifying effect. However the problem is that -like you said – you don’t need the Daze with the mostly CC based Revenant Elites. Shiro’s Elite stuns, Daze isn’t necessary here. Jalis’s ult is supposed to make people hit you for less, which will be wasted because they’re not going to be hitting you when they’re Dazed. The same thing goes with Ventari and Glints’ elites. Mallyx doesn’t have that problem though. This trait can stay, but needs to be changed so the Daze is applied after the initial effect. So the Daze will start AFTER the knock back, stun, superprotection. You know, just so you can make use of it. It would probably work the same for Mallyx though.

Proposed change: new trait Greater Knowledge (or something) heal near by allies when you use an elite skill. Now it synergizes with Ventari and matches the salvation theme.
Other replacement: daze when you use a heal skill (increase the CD to 30s). This one makes it more practical and fits the pacification theme

1. A heal of some form would definitely allow the use of Salvation’s healing modifiers across your legend sets, but Salvation isn’t entirely about healing. It’s also got a fair bit of damage prevention in there too. Plus we already have Natural Abundance as a healing injection elite. Maybe they should make Natural Abundance also cause EVERY legend’s Elite to drop a handful of healing packs like Ventari’s does. That would add some use for the modifiers outside of Staff/Shield/Ventari. It would also pretty much make every Elite even more of a ‘save your bacon skill.’ Are you getting wrecked in Shiro? Pop your ult to stun the fools and get your party and yourself healed up while they can’t do nuttin’. Give massive protection AND healing with Jalis? YES PLEASE? Ignore that self tormenting with Mallyx too!

2. It makes more sense for it to be on an elite skill rather than a heal. Revenant Elites don’t have cooldowns, meaning you could double cast your ult to keep someone Dazed. In my mind at least it fits better as a skill that has no high ICD associated with its strength, only your own ability to manage your energy.

Nature magic is supposed to be about boons and boon support. Why not add a little support to the minors? I’m thinking that this might be too strong, but it would address a certain problem. I’d just like to see this a trait somewhere honestly.

I want to add an effect to this trait that allows your pet to grant 3 allies (excluding itself) near it boons you grant yourself. This should scale off of the ranger’s boon duration and not the pet’s because it’d get crazy with that 50% buff. The reasoning for this is to allow you to grant boons to your front liners that are beyond the range of your shouts, warhorn skills, and what have you. That way you can still hang in the back with your bow while fortifying the front liners.

Too crazy? Yeah. How about just making Fortifying Bond work both ways? I give my pet nice things, why can’t he lend a helping paw and give me some of that might he happens to get from being in the thick of it?

In this game we have a large number of traits and consumables that grant you x stat based on a percentage of another stat, but as far as I know, there’s nothing in the game aside from sigil of bursting that increases a stat by a percentage of itself. Why is that? Cross stat amplification is good for not having to give up too much of one stat to achieve the strengths you’re going for. Same stat amplification would promote focusing on one stat and getting to the highest point you can for it.

Honestly I don’t like any of them.
I enjoy doing my typical thief front flips off high spots.

I wish there was an option to turn the NEW animations off so I can stick to my normal dodge.

It feels forced upon us that we have to see a new animation we don’t like just because we want to have the Daredevil trait line..

I guess it’s also kind of a clarity thing. Like, imagine someone dodging normally towards you and you’re just like “k” then allofasudden a 3k crit appeared! The animations also kind of let people know that this is indeed a daredevil you’re fighting and to just start trying to dodge their dodges.

So, what about the jungle?

This thing is ridiculously overpowered from a mechanics standpoint.

I remember the nightmarish days of S/D thieves going through entire matches with perma-dodge and never getting hit while demolishing fights. I was so happy when feline grace and that troll build died.

Now they are coming back with a vengeance to bring Ragnarok to this game. This will usher in a new generation of troll players abusing the mechanics of this class. 1v1s will be completely dominated by zerker DDs with instakill combos that don’t even require a stomp.

I regret preordering.

I agree that there are a few strong ways to replenish your endurance with this spec, but I don’t think it will come close to being as bad as the old Feline Grace.

Three dodges only means you have one more dodge when entering combat, and one more dodge if you wait 50% longer than normal characters to regenerate it all. In a normal combat situation you probably won’t see yourself fill up that third dodge bar without a serious endurance regen spam build because as soon as you get a bar, you’ll likely use it. BY ITSELF the third dodge isn’t too troublesome. Spammy endurance regen is what we should worry about.

Speaking of endurance regen, the endurance traits aren’t too bad if you really take a look at them. They’ll definitely make for a dodge heavy build, but I don’t think they’ll bring about the apocalypse. One dodge on steal? Ok. If you’ve traited fully for steal recharge reduction that’s like one dodge around every 20 seconds. That doesn’t sound too menacing. The physical skill trait gives you 10 endurance, and one dodge sets you back 50. In order to give yourself one dodge back you’d have take all physical skills and use em all back to back. Your endurance recharges in the background so it’s probably closer to you having to use 4 and a 1/3 physical skills. I don’t think that this trait will enable permevade by itself, but it’s pretty good. The staff trait only works with that one weapon, so quick pockets won’t work with it. The trait gives you 2 endurance per initiative spent which means the most expensive skill on the staff – Vault – will give you a fifth of a dodge, and you don’t want to be spamming that since you’re vulnerable while in the air. It’s a strong trait, and with builds focusing on insane initiative regen it will be very strong, but I don’t think it can be any weaker without sucking. If they made the endurance regen only proc when you actually hit something with the the skill it would be perfectly fine IMO.

So yeah, this line will definitely give you a ton of ways to get very dodge spammy, but it’s not gonna be as easy as it was with Feline Grace. Besides, for all the work that would go in to making a full evade build they’d only succeed at kittening people off. That is these builds aren’t too efficient at killing people, just being immortal if played to perfection. If they tone down the damage/condi/boon duration of the enhanced dodges it shouldn’t be as infuriating if someone were to achieve this. Maybe add a lockout to these enhanced dodges for a few seconds if you take yourself to 0 endurance.

The real problem is with sigils and runes that restore endurance, but luckily those have some ICDs. Stamina in PvE is pretty funny with a glassy build. At some point, with all of the right settings you’d likely be overcapping your ability to regen endurance! Increase the ICDs of the runes and sigils and it wouldn’t be so bad. I dunno. It seems like a lot to go for just to troll people. I don’t ever see a perma dodge build becoming meta. A frequa dodge Daredevil build? Maybe.

Unfortunately, It’s likely that Anet will never release another profession due to there being symmetry across the armor types with the addition on the Revenant. It’s fun to think about the possibilities though! What kind of classes are there out in the blue still? What themes haven’t yet been represented by an existing class?

I personally would love to see a profession based on space and astral themed spells. I can’t really think of anything other than “The Celestial” or “The Stargazer” as a name. A medium armor class with a moderate health pool would be appropriate as there isn’t really a majorly magical medium armor class currently. Just for fun I’ve been toying with what this profession would look like in my spare time. Thinking up its weapon skills, utilities, trait lines, mechanic and so on. Perhaps I’ll post it all when I finally get done with it a long time from now, but at least I have something to do when I’m REALLY bored. For the next 4 months or so…

This is what I have mapped out so far…

Mechanic: Day/Night cycles used to swap between Zodiac chime sets used to summon familiars that augment skills. Not really a complete idea yet.

2H weapons:
Staff – medium range linear aoe with high damage and debilitating condis. Solar theme.
Longbow – long ranged aoe mixed dmg and support. Lunar theme.
Hammer – tanky w/ aoe DPS, and hard cc. Gravity theme.

*MH weapons: *
Sword – defensive mid/melee range single target dmg with a condi focus. Spacial theme.
Scepter – melee multi target dmg with a focus on controlling movement. Void theme.
Pistol – highly mobile ranged single target DPS with supportive skill-shots. Star theme.
Mace – player based mixed aoe with a focus on hard cc like hammer. Apocalyptic theme.

OH weapons:
Sword – basically same as sword but more mobile and defensive. Spacial theme.
Pistol – same mobile supportive theme as MH pistol, but with more mobility. Star theme.
Focus – ranged condi and group defense. Apocalyptic theme.
Scepter – immense mid ranged aoe damage. Void theme.
Warhorn – strong aoe damage and group buffing. Anomaly theme.

Aquatic weapons:
Trident – mobile, melee weapon used to deal with multiple targets while surviving.
Spear – ranged support option that offers mainly aoe control skills.

Core Specs:
Cataclysm – DPS line that improves CC and melee combat.
Constellation – Condi line that supports ranged combat and crits.
Continuity – Pure tank line that benefits some weapons and weapon swap.
Creation – Support line that grants you and your party additional mobility.
Cosmos – Profession mechanic line that empowers use of chimes and cycles.

Utility Types:
Signets – passives and actives.
Chaos – offensive player based AOEs and control.
Order – supportive fields.
Cause / Effect – 2 step chain skills.
Cosmic – general utility.

Anyone out there have a unique idea for a profession that could be released down the line? I’m sure there are some themes that could be really cool additions to the game if given the chance!

1. Do the caltrops from “Uncatchable” count as a trick skill? It is an existing skill, but in a mini version like lesser signet of vampirism for the necro. Blood bond procs signet traits for them. Does Uncatchable proc the condi removal from Trickster for us.

2. This is just a coding question. Do you think that effects that restore a percentage of total endurance are really calculated that way? So let’s say I had taken the Daredevil spec and have runes of the adventurer. When I use my heal, will it give me my full one and a half dodges or just one?

Although you don’t get unlimited charges, they are not taken from your account either. so just aqcuire a bunch. you will get them back and you will be able to spend them on better looks later on

I know that you get all your stuff back. I was just saying that on your beta characters you might not have enough transmutation charges to customize all of them the way you want. If every beta character had an independent account instead of a shared one the ‘running dry on transmutation’ problem would also be fixed, although not as much as if we had no restrictions on character customization for these temporary ones.

Hey! It’s obvious that you have some neat tech going on with Beta characters to allow them to have a separate account. However, there was an issue I ran into last BWE due to that separate account being shared by all beta characters, and that’s the supply of Transmutation Charges. My suggestion is to give beta characters UNLIMITE:D Transmutation Charges so that you’re free to make all of your horrific experiments look just the way you want them to for the brief time you have with them. This is purely an aesthetic upgrade. Also, can we get access to the unique elite spec weapon skins/armor skins on beta characters used for said elite specs? Thank you for reading this through, and here’s to hoping my Herald and my Daredevil won’t be stuck with the pearl skins!

I’d be pretty satisfied with corruptions keeping their current functionality if, say, they made the self-applied condis not scale with your condi duration and damage. I would also like to see them add an effect to these skills that extends the duration of condis on foes they affect. Perfect to set up for Epidemic or Feast of Corruption. Imagine Poison Cloud or Plague with that… basically a zone where condis don’t go down in duration.

This Blood Reckoning? It’s neither. It doesn’t make you harder to wear down, it doesn’t give you extra insurance against heavy damage. And unlike Jade Daggers on the Rev, it doesn’t make up for its weakness as a heal skill by also doing 5k+ damage. You’re as vulnerable to pressure as a TtL! user, as vulnerable to spike as a HealSig user, and you get no extra damage from the skill. ArenaNet, stop making heals like this. They stink.

Yeah, these heals aren’t the best, but I can see their niche. You don’t need to build any healing power with these types of heals, only damage, and they can still potentially heal for more than your other options. So I guess they work for pure DPS builds as a high risk option that can heal a butt load if you perform well enough. Imagine this plus Flurry or Hundred Blades! It doesn’t give back as much adrenaline as To the Limit, but it’s some.

Was it specified in the stream or anywhere what level of damage boost primal bursts grant with the Trait “Berserker’s Power?” I heard that they’re just treated like third tier bursts. So am I right in guessing that means you’ll get the full 20%?

PS – Pls make the VFX for Flames of War as awesome as the ones for Blaze Breaker. The fireworks for torch 5 looks like a bottle rocket compared to the H-bomb that is torch 4.

TL;DR – When a trait is on cooldown, there should be a little icon next to your health globe with the trait icon – or the ability icon if the trait casts an actual skill – to indicate that the trait’s on cooldown.

When a trait is on cooldown I think it would be a great help if you received a little icon of that trait to the right of your health globe to alert you that it is still recharging. It could function like a boon and have that little white border that goes down to tell you how much time’s left before the trait’s up again. If the trait actually uses an existing skill, perhaps it would be better if the actual skill icon was displayed instead of the trait icon. Just because people won’t memorize the trait icons for everything. When would this help? Picture playing a Necro with Master of Corruption and Plague sending. If I was relying on Plague Sending to save me when I blowed all of my Corruptions, and it procced without me knowing, and I used my corruptions thinking it was off cooldown, then I would be a bit salty. This change would allow players to more accurately play around these traits and know when they can perform specific actions like taking Wrath of Justice on a guardian and activating your Virtue of Justice before using Hammer 3 for a double immobilize for instance.

In the Q&A with Robert Gee about the Berserker elite spec it came up that they do not have the ability to make a player into a projectile finisher, meaning that is not a part of what Wild Blow does. There is a way though to make it seem like a mob is a projectile finisher though. Simply add in a projectile finisher that has no VFX and deals no damage that matches the speed and width of the knock back hit-box of the flying mob/character. Then it would look like the character is inflicting, say, burning on enemies it hits. This projectile would have to ignore projectile blocks and reflects, but if the only reason this skill doesn’t convert a mob into a projectile finisher is because of coding complexities then this could be the solution!

We just received some nice info on the Berserker today and one thing caught my eye in particular. Berserker traits apparently fall into three categories: Berserk mode bonuses, condi damage and burning, and unstoppability. Now you have my attention! Even though it’s not the strongest, the Reaper trait line is my favourite so far, and I think it’s due to this system. Reaper traits are also split up into three paths: brawling , chill, and movie monster. I feel that Reaper traits synergize very well with themselves and with the regular necro specs, and are generally thematically satisfying too. If Berserker turns out the same then I say every elite spec should follow this model. Really creating a core identity for your elite spec through choosing three elements to portray through its traits makes a trait line feel much more organized and thematic as well.

What could some themes for the existing elite specs be?

Chronomancer: Slow, shatter bonuses and illusions, alacrity?

Dragonhunter: Cripple and knock-back, range bonuses, additional virtue effects?

Tempest: Auras, melee support and defense, aoe skill improvements?

Herald: Boon bonuses and application, upkeep skill bonuses, group defense?

It didn’t work with spear of justice. Have Wrath of Justice traited -> Press f1 -> chuck a spear -> spear hits them-> enemy is not immobilized As far as I’m aware.

Can anyone remember back to the BWE and tell me if this trait worked with Spear of Justice? If so, is it only the first enemy struck or all enemies hit by the spear?

I’d like it if they froze your character’s animation while you were inside the bubble to make it seem like you were encased in crystal instead of just having a dome around you. I’d like to see “Infuse Light” from Glint’s heal skill moved here. They could remove the damage reduction from the ability and grant you this while channeling instead which turns all incoming damage into healing anyways. That way this skill would reflect Glint’s Crystal Hibernation a bit closer and add a higher potential heal and the counter play of just not hitting you while channeling. Giving you Vigor to restore endurance as well while using this skill would be a nice touch. As for Facet of Light… Revenant’s have two legends – 3 with Glint – that offer a heal skill that is tough to use in emergencies. Shiro’s requires you to attack and not be nursed down before you can get the heal from the siphons, Ventari’s will NOT save you, and Glint’s can be countered by not being attacked. I think it would be nice if Glint offered a heal that can save you in a tight situation. Something like a base heal plus extra per boon on you. Then it’d have major synergy with your facets and you’d probably want to use it when you have them up!

I can imagine some form of counter play with people either grouping together so that one target doesn’t have to go down. Alternatively someone tanky could wait for the rev to jump to him and blink away to tank the rest of the damage themselves. Or you could just use your true invulnerabilities! smrrghrgghmumbe not satisfied with Crystal Hibernation grrrummbleeygoobly

What if the defiance bar regenerated too? That way foes have to unload cc in a burst to break you out or else they’ll simply have to wait till you pop out yourself. I also wished that they added some effect or bonus if you channel the entire skill. If there’s a downside to it being broken thee should be an upside to getting through the entire skill too. What if this skill was an upkeep? Just a thought. XD
