CORE Guardian (not DH or any other future elite specs) should have a 25% passive speed increase trait somewhere. This “weakness” not only removes a great deal of fun from the profession, it also greatly limits rune choise in many areas of the game and reduces some potential build diversity for no reason at all.

I’d implement said trait in the virtues line, it makes sense thematically (imo), and most importantly, it seems to be the standard trait line for the vast majority of ‘viable’ guardian builds.

It’d put it in the adept line, along with some other trait effects, Unscathed Contender maybe?

Unscathed Contender: Deal more damage and move 25% faster under the effects of Aegis.

Thoughts?

Seen this suggested before, thats pretty limiting still

I’ve played Guardian in every game mode since launch. Movement is not a huge issue. However, it’s worth mentioning is an intended weakness of the profession. Just like Revenants with condition removal or Thieves with active defenses, Guardian has a weakness in mobility. However it’s extremely easy for the Guardian to overcome that weakness. Even if you don’t want permanent Swiftness, you only need 75% uptime to equate +25% movement speed. After that, we have all the combat mobility of blinks and to a lesser extent leaps. It’s not as huge of an issue as it’s being made out to be.

I feel like if you can make the argument that lacking 25% movement isn’t that big of a deal, then the counter point, that having 25% movement wouldn’t be a big deal would also hold true.

so youre saying guardians weaknes is that it needs to use travaler rune? i don’t think that’s legit tbh.

Somthign as big as not having 25% movement speed somewhere is a very big issue when every other class has it. Anet cant implemnent not having this due to it being guardians weakness when there smore than pvp content in the game.
The fact that traveler rune is in the game removes this as their ‘weakness’ its just annoying as all roaming guardians have to use it.
Look at mesmer, they recently got 25% movement, and i bet youd say that movement wa their intended weaknes too with their blinks.

Yeah good joke mate, let me see you play PvP or WvW smallscale with guardian and get perma swift AND still be effective in combat.
You can’t.
Sources of swiftnes for a guardian:
Sources from weapons:
Staff 3
Issues: staff is kitten .
Sources of swiftness from traits:
none…
Sources of swiftness from skills: (with my boon duri being 30)
Retreat: 27 sec swift, 40 sec cd. also gives aegis, this si crap and not perma.
Save Yourselves: 13 seconds 60 second cooldown
So yeah unless you want to waste 2 utilities on these crappy shouts mate; not to mention having to use shout trait/traitline which is crap. No you cannot have perma swiftness. And the whole point of wanting 25% move speed is so we arnt forced into the rune of traveler, (if youre suggesting pack wune with swift sigil or somthing)

Daredevil, signet of shadows,(or perma swift hurr-durr)
Reaper, Signet of locust,(or perma swift again….pack runes warhorn)
Warrior(who even plays berserker lol), warriors sprint and signet elite for swiftness
Ele/ tempest now gets perma swift from what ive played/seen and gets signet 25%
Scrapper, perma swiftness is easy to get, 25% mecha legs
Revenant….Shiro, 1200 range teleport every 5 seconds, perma swift from glint and swift spam on elemental f2…
Mesmer, chrono… just chrono…¬_¬
Ranger, easily aqquireable swiftnes through traits and elite skill, also signet…
So why not guardian?

Can we have some information from a dev(or if this has been addressed in some obscure post in the past a player with reference to said quotes), about why the Guardian is now the only class not to get this from anything but traveler rune?
I see this being brought up everywhere but i have yet to see the reasoning behind it.

Yeah, lonbow arrows on all clases go further than 1200.
The skill 2 is more of a beam, it does not have a curve in tis drop so it doesnt go further.
However it does go through some walls in wvw 0.o haha!

Basicly.
Its overpowered VS stupid people (who run over your traps. F3 blocks all attacks against your characters face, thats the only op part)

If anythign hammer needs nerfing lol, i hit 25k vs a level 80 friend of mine in WvW( coalescence skill), sure it hit twice ont he second and third cascades, but still, 25K come on….(full zerk rev with strength runes and force sigil and might and the two 7% dmg modifyers through traits)
It needs less damage, or increased cooldown/energy.

Iv eplayed now, all class elite specialisations, and the most prominent things that need changing are Revenant hammer 2 and Guardian longbow 2, increase the recharge and its fine.
But fix the bugs first for gods sake. Revenant has no underwater, Dragonhunter cant use any new spec skills underwater. Just remove underwater from the game if youre going to leave stuff broken like this.

Such tears. If you play a buidl where you can do this damage, you have NO condition clense. Bar 1 every 9 seoncds on revenant switch. If you nerf the attacks that are strong but the ones that are crap and give us condition clense. Mesmers do way more damage than this from what ive played with it and have access to tonnes of clense/invis.

I love my Revenant but it’s definitely rough around the edges, I expect it will take many patches to get it to 100%. It would nice if Roy could make a known issues/upcoming fixes thread, just to let us know he’s aware of the problems.

You’d think that this class beign as new as it is would have a more active GM presence tbh yeah.

As for the underwater skills, Facet of lights active shouldnt be an issue underwater, elemental blast should require a target or be aoe on the player, gaze of darkness and burst of strength shouldnt be a problem to apply to underwater combat either, the only thing that would need changing is the elite, have glint send a tidal surge of icy water towards the foe instea dof ‘chaotic winds’ simple.

Underwater is completely Broken:
-2 weapon slots but can only use one weapon ( if this is so you can have one condi weapon and one power, or to use mulitple sigils then fair enough but it just feels incomplete. Either remove the slot or allow us to use trident.)
Legends don’t work underwater(some do yes not all and when you swap underwater it changes it onland a.k.a broken)
Each legend only has 3 skills~no diversity.
If you play wvw, you have no condi clense unless you use traitlines/legends which suck.
Weapon skills are bugy(sword 3, the number of times this has placed me inside a rock is unreal) and or won’t work (staff4 won’t clense.)
We have a few overpowered skills, and the rest are underpowered, meaning when theyre nerfed the revenant will be useless. Coalescence of ruin, i htit players for 14k… even medium armors. (i am fullzerk with a few dmg modifiers i.e force strength rune e.t.c, but still this is stupid on the c/d it has.

In terms of condition clearing, how about adding a condition clense to shiro’s elite, or give it an optionable second elite where you turn all your conditions to jade.
On glint how about giving it a Facet which cures conditions over time on passive and grants resitance on active.
Mallyx needs to have more active clenses as it is mainly a team oriented line.
As for the clense on ogden, the rest of the line is useless other than this long cd cure.
It just feels like we were given a few strong skills to make up for the fact the class as a whole doesnt work and isnt ready.
(This may be the case but if so lets see some feedback from anet instead of just nerfing the things people cry about.)

Hmm, yes this is a weird decision, perhaps now, lower the energy cost, or increase the energy cost and remove the cd. Thief with sword can teleport forward indeffinately if you press 3 and jump straight away (it removes the teleport back when you press 3 again) this hasnt been removed since the changed to shadow stepping and that hasnt changed.

Guys. Come on now. The class has literally been out for a few days and you’re already pulling insane changes to the class?

The class itself is supposed to be energy based. That’s the whole design mechanic. What’s the point of slapping cooldowns on abilities so we have two things to worry about? This is seriously just a L2P issue. Nerfing glints heal too? Yeah because the ability already wasn’t bad and required the stupidity of your opponent to function.

Yes, the class has good damage-to-survivability ratio, but let’s look at what it doesn’t have:

- Dies to any condition pressure. If you can’t figure this one out, then you literally shouldn’t be preparing to comment.
- VERY lackluster heals and BAD healing scaling
- Ventari’s tablet is a joke. All the skills should be instant cast so you use them while fighting. The heals and the placement of the fragments are NOT good enough to warrant you becoming a sitting duck
- No mobility outside of Shiro
- Still bugs everywhere.

To summarise, the class has nothing outside of a less warrior-like survivability and damage ratio. Balancing should be done based on the energy mechanic, not slapping cooldowns and nerfing already bad heals.

-Phase traversal should have had an increase to 25 energy.
-Infuse light should not have been changed at all, and needed a base heal increase, and better healing scaling. This goes for all the healing lines, and abilities. At 1200 healing power I get less than half (at best) on all the healing abilities. The only ability that has decent scaling is shield 5. Ventari’s tablet could do with better scaling, but is clunky as hell due to the casting times, which need to go.

Do you guys realize how much these small changes have hurt the class as a whole? I do virtually nothing in this game but WvW/PvP/Theorycraft. People are bad. When people learn how to to fight revs they will get dropped like it’s hot because they have no real purpose or identity.

If anything , you should be buffing the class right now, not nerfing it.

and before someone says hurr durr dont go that build, thats the build that i find actually does some damage, i dont want to be a supportive or tanky or condi person, i need dps for roaming, condition in my opinion is for noobs. Warrior and guardian have access to tonnes of condi clear and immunes and have good defence in the roaming catagories. Seems rev is anets failed abortion :/

Speaking strictly Glint, why cant we use its skills underwater? For that matter why doe sit only have 3 availiable skills?

Also why do we have 2 weapon slots but can only use spear, was revenant not fully finished before hot was released :S?
Also, glint + shiro has terrible coniditon clearing as does mallyx ( wtf condi specline lol?)

Okay maybe the idea of a simple voting thig is stupid(do to abusers like you mentioned,) but perhaps implementing further subcatagories for the traitline/weapons to allow more specific scrutiny of the traits/skills/weapons?

if this is wvw, fine for zerging, but for roaming, shield is now OP especially with axe, 100% land those evicerates. op. Buff swords dmg and its viable, the f1 is just to bad seing as it roots you and has 0 dmg (unless youre condi) youll find you ahve to cancel the animation tot hen use hundred blades or final thrust, but axe is far superior. Sword is for running / chasing.

Pretty sure we have a greater chance of fixing stuff ourselves than having a few people doing what they thinkis right then having stuff broken/op/uselss for months/years. That’s not worked so far.

There are so many unloved traitlines/skills/weapons in this game that just never seem to get seen to, when someone makes a valid topic about them it seems to just get lost in all the forum posts and never seen, perhaps create its own topic so we can get some things fixed?

I.e every 5 stacks the next stacks after apply reduced damage.

Still want conditions to be effective in PvE ? Have this effect only apply on players.

About your insane mobility argument:
Ranger swoop alone does the same as Warrior GS + Sword together..
So thats not so valid to say warrior has insane mobility.
Most classes have the same if not more incombat mobility, warrior just have a bit more landspeed skills.. but even that issnt always the case because even mesmers can be king of landspeed travel.
