Get it taken down -
Do whatever it takes if you care about this game -
I opened up another BLC and Mad Chest earlier, got 3 plastic spider tonics and a Karma booster as being the better items I got. Lottery system in place ruins the entire experience of the event, I’d probably say that the drop rate for the jackpot items is most likely less than 1% Only real way to find out if someone opened up 1000s of each and posted the results…and like that would happen.
And this is how everyone feels, check the Dontain video (he’s a GW2 uploader content)
subbed ~ I like that guys attitude and he is also 100% correct
1. Will you or will you not be buying black lion trading company or random number generation materials again?
No
2. Did you buy them in the past?
Yes
3. If you would not buy trading post material/gamble, would you support direct to buy weapon skins and what general price do you find acceptable from a business standpoint both as a customer and realizing that they must make money as a business?
I might buy them if they was direct purchases.
4. Do you believe that future events will also be handled with random number generation to make profit based on limited time item acquisition?
Unfortunately, if Nexon is some how involved – then yes, I expect every event to be handled this way.
5. If you believe that the future events will be handled in the same manner, does this realization negatively effect your trust of Arena Net in regard to handling micro transactions for permanent content?
Yes, very much so
6. Did you obtain a skin or whatever it is you were looking to get from the black lion trading chests? From the Mad King Chests?
No/No 16 BL chests // 15 Mad Chests – I got nothing of value from the BL chests, and the best item I got was 3 spooky tonics from the Mad Chests.
Its not just Nexon, another company just as bad is Aeria Games. They are well known for ridiculously ‘mystery boxes’ with abysmally low chances for the items people really want – Aeria with Eden Eternal made more than a few people angry with their carrot on a stick chases, not to mention that company charges insane prices for items – first week after launch – Cat Costume Special Deal $40 – /mindblown
The saving grace is that more and more gambling issues pop up, so does the chances the FTC might take an interest and push for laws to stop it.
What they should have done is made the lesser skins a 1 in 5 chance in the MCs – that way almost everyone would have got something out of it without the feeling of getting cheated – lol I mean, you’ll always get someone complaining they didn’t get rare recipes etc but, thats not the point.
I very much doubt they’ll give vouchers – I have a feeling for the next few days, we’ll hear nothing on this subject and they’ll just let the forums vent and settle down. However, being a veteran of many MMos including ones that had gambling for rare items, I’ll tell you one thing – people don’t forget when they feel cheated, sure some people will definitely ragequit over this, others like myself will take a break and come back after the events ended but everyone will remember this event when its time for the next one, and I’m willing to bet the gem sales will suffer next time.
Soniti, welcome to the internet and world of MMo – those types of people are in every-game. I have supported Anet for quite along time, purchasing digital deluxe pre-order, beta testing in each BWE and following the progress since probably GW2 was announced and right now, I feel a little sad at what is happening with the game in general.
Anyway, as my own personal protest I am boycotting the rest of the Halloween event. And in future events if I see any hint of a gambling system in place, I’ll not bother with those events either.
I think what they should have done is just simply add in the skins to the TP for the people who don’t want to gamble, many other MMos have done that and it worked out better with less whining, not to mention clearly stating the odds on the gambling.
Example ~
Chain Sword Skin – Permanent Version
Black Lion Chest – x% Chance
Chain Sword Skin – Permanent Version
Mad King Chest – x% Chance
Chain Sword Skin – Gem Shop
x gems
I think people would still gamble, but also players would probably rather just use the gem shop than take a chance on what could be a total waste of time/money.
Seriously this amount of whine is hilarious. It is a cosmetic item. Get over it. They added three new jumping puzzles, a mini dungeons, 30 dynamic events, a scavenger hunt, craftable skins, and people whine about the 2 or 3 expensive luck based skins.
What Sentinel said is true, I’ll give him that ~ Gambling is bad. And having a system in game that essentially amounts to gambling for items is also bad and ANET should learn from this fiasco for the next event – whatever the next event is, if I see any hint of a gambling system in place, I’m just going to not bother with it and move on.
Alot of people like you, are missing the point completely though.

Is anyone else seeing that the guy in the first post got A UNIQUE HALLOWEEN SKIN, and yet feels disappointed?
I would’ve been stoked to get a single skin regardless of whether or not I wanted it.
Dude, you got a skin. That’s what we were opening chests for. You have nothing to complain about.
Exactly ~ all this anger towards Anet is totally justified. Its not like most of us are asking for legendary drops here – we want some recognition of our support, instead we’re slapped in the face – the question is, how many people are at the point of ragequitting? I think I’m honestly, going to take a break for a week – at the point, I don’t even care about the rest of the acts and whatever ‘grand event’ they have planned for the weekend.
I think the Mad Chests are actually even more of a con than the BLCs – Since you have to use 2 boosters, which have some what of a use. The drop rate for anything remotely good in the MCs is still horrible, one member in our guild got one deathly avian skin – totaling about 100+ Mad Chests opened, oh well – my faith in AC is ever dwindling, come the next event I’m just not going to bother with it, no more money spent on essentially a gambling system, then a patch which again – replaces the system with another gambling system.
I think what we can do, is warn every player not to take part in these events. Because like Sam said, these events are a cover for a micro-transaction system with baiting players with carrots that most; if many will never get.
Same here! This dungeon is annoying enough, now its buggy >.<
He is totally bugged on Emhry Bay ~ He doesn’t even spawn anymore.
We are still recruiting, we are especially looking for members who are willing to do dungeons on a daily basis. Also welcome are new players, we can train and help you guys out with learning the game!

Kudos Khaos ~ I don’t/would not harbor any hackers/cheaters in our guild either. The problem is, and always will be – no two guilds are the same and many guilds focus far too heavily on the ‘win’ and by that method, meaning whatever way works best and if that means cheating, then they’ll do it – the problem is, if the game actively allows people to cheat/exploit/hack without any punishment and/or protection.
Everyone knows that GW2 has no protection, has massive loopholes and this information is easily obtainable. Cheat engines alone are creating havoc in-game and for this game to break into the esports scene without any protection is asking for trouble.
My personal opinion is the bottom bracket should be just deleted since the population levels are just bearly there to support it, then you get a server like ebay which has obviously a slightly larger population then BP and Anvil, so when ebay wins ~ like Jester mentioned gets propelled into a bracket it has no chance against because of sheer population numbers.
Hacking // Exploiting

So SoR gets added to the list of hacker servers. Even though what Cayden said is true, Anet will not fix WvW, original GW1 had insane amount of hacker problems which was never fixed, I don’t expect this to ever be fixed either. Sure, they can fix some of the glitches and patch some exploits, but without any serious anti-cheat engine software running, this game will be a hackers paradise.
I’m posting on behalf of my wife, The TP works perfectly for me ~ I haven’t had any issues, but for my wife when she opens the TP she gets the blank screen of death, however if she waits several minutes it finally opens up however, she can search for items but her buy button is constantly ‘greyed’ out like others have mentioned ~ she is using the same network as me, I have zero problems.
Please for the love of the game please fix this, especially for WvW where it can literally mean the difference of taking control over key areas.
Even in PvE such as large group zergs, I have run SoD zergs and I’ve been suppressed several times, leading to some confusion in the rotation and obviously since you can’t say anything…it plainly sucks.
I know this is one of your measures against gold-spam, but in all reality it isn’t really that effective, I’ve still seen large amounts of spam in LA – this method really just hurts the players more than the farmers.
Lucky Stars and ZERG guild both run the newly formed Ebay SoD Zerg daily runs. If you are interested in joining our guild, we offer plenty of help, guild buffs and the guild is nearly maxed out with all the current guild upgrades. We are still recruiting and as casual as you can get
@ Dinks ~ I pretty much agree, anet is really dropping the ball with W3 however, what I’m generally thinking is that they just don’t care about it, its just a method to buy them time. What they are really aiming at is sPvP tourneys and break into full eSports scene, if they really actually wanted to do something about all the problems with W3, alot of the current problems would be fixed by now. And like you also mentioned Dinks…Anet doesn’t value our time, it values our money and they already have it.
Also to everyone else, one of the reasons why Ebay is ranked the place it is, is simple ~ it is because we have some actually very good commanders like Jomaz, without these great WvWers ebay would almost certainly be right at the bottom of the leaderboard, and the reason for that is really, just a logistical problem ~ lack of population in general and I think that goes for most of the low ranked servers.
A really great example of this happened today ~ I had one of my guildies transfer to Darkhaven server to finish some of the WvW maps for the 100% world completion, and upon entering LA on DH server, he was placed on the overflow server. I haven’t personally seen the overflow server on any of our zones in over a month! Thats how low our general population really is.
The easiest solution would be to remove the teleport fee to the waypoints, sometimes the cost is pretty crazy 2s+ even to teleport to someplace even in the same zone.
Its pretty obvious, the lower population servers especially the lower ranked servers have such as tiny population, it has become obvious they are not viable in WvW period. Meaning several things ~
1) People are transferring off the low pop servers to high pop ‘winning’ servers
2) People are transferring off the servers to complete 100% WvW maps
I don’t know about alot of the lower ranked servers, but I know for sure my server (Ehmry Bay) has a really small general population now, I haven’t personally seen the overflow server in over a month.
One thing I do know, if Anet doesn’t do anything about balancing certain aspects of this game, population vs WvW ranking etc, some servers will just go dark and be populated by nothing but bots in the near future.
So I’m proposing a simple fix, merge some of the lowest population servers together, the servers that are merged keep all guild upgrades/influence earned.
Since siege weapons play such a massive role in WvW, essentially who ever controls the jumping puzzles can have a massive advantage and essentially ‘stock up’ on free plans.
To combat siege plan hording, I think the ‘free’ plans earned by doing jumping puzzles every day should be changed so if they are not used within 24 hours they are auto-deleted.
Klawlty, a war is won one battle at a time. Trust me, siege weapons win the war.
Ebay has lost alot of players due to plenty of mis-matches, so yeah like others have mentioned ~ the server transfers hurt WvW alot. So does mixing PvE and PvP together, so many players just want to get the world completion so they transfer off servers to the winning ones for what amounts to an easy star.
Its also no secret GW2 has lot of players in the past month, Xfire shows a very clear decline, and since not everyone uses xfire, a significant amount do so the numbers are pretty shocking ~
Xfire players Sep 13th was at 70k and at Oct 10th was down to 24k – that is a huge difference! Xfire Beta Guild Wars 2 Source
I still firmly believe each servers actual population is being mis-reported – each time I check, almost all servers are constantly High // Full ~ Ebay is no way a high population server, unless…you want to count bot armies running around, Ebay seems to have more bots than regular players now. The question begs, server merges in the near future?
(edited by TsukasaHiiragi.9730)
Another reason why PvE needs to be removed from PvP ~ not to mention gives one dominated side a huge advantage with free siege plans.
Its artificially rising the world population totals ~ our server for instance, is really a low – medium population server, but we have literally bot armys out every day!
I support this ~ We had to rename our guild at launch because someone stole the name (other big beta guilds have had there name stolen too)
The problem with gearing has always been an issue because most people then take that gear into PvP situations for what amounts to easy mode wins which further unbalances PvP. So no, this game needs everything on the same page – if you want to spend countless hours + gold + $$ to make your weapon sparkle then go right ahead, if not then “http://us.battle.net/wow/en/” should be your next stop
Raids are a bad idea in GW2, simply because of no holy trinity. The raids would just be an entire clusterF ~ if you want to raid, get commander and raid WvW.
lol what you talking about undermine? Blue owns more than green and red combined. I’d really like to see Anet step up and create a better way these match ups work, the bracket system currently is a horrible system and can be exploited by simply transferring servers. At night, ebay server is literally dead, probably less than 50 people in WvW. I really question the population each server has, its not changed in a long time so either, its broken ~ Or Anet is doing something underhanded.
I checked several parsing websites for people playing Guild Wars 2 and its been in a signficant decline since Mid Sept – so I’m pretty sure, alot of servers really have low – medium populations. Ebay after 1am EST definately has a low population.
I think it needs looking at. Being stuck in queue for hours even when other servers outnumber yours 2:1 or even 3:1 in the same WvW instance….obviously, something isn’t working correctly. Others have reported similar instances of this issue – This seems to happen the most during a new rotation.
East Coast Servers always have a major disadvantage going up again DH, simply because its one of the few ‘unofficial’ Aussie servers, so when its peak time for you guys, all of us are sleeping – Which again, kinder makes a mockery of WvW in general. I think umm..Sea of Sorrows was the other unofficial Aussie server too.
Anyway, these week I expect DH to run away with an easy win because of that fact ~ Ebay has a severe lack of population, unless your counting PvE bots running around..I still think the population levels are broken (Click World transfer) Everything is high ~ our server at 5am in the morning is dead – no chance in hell is Ebay high population not unless there is a bot army somewhere hiding out.

The only problem is mob damage is set far too high, really makes acquiring new gear pointless because in dungeons, especially exploration modes – simply put, your going to die the question is how many times and what your repair bill is going to be at the end to make the trip actually worth while.
Basically alot of the boss fights need some data sets collected so Anet can adjust the damage so the fights are a challenge but not so your being constantly one shotted, this is one of the reasons why people are searching for exploits to avoid this.
Take a look at all the other MMo’s that have existed, no boss fights have ever had the abilities to insta-kill/one shot everyone unless there was some mechanic in place that the player messed up on (looks at WoW and the famous red circles etc) There isn’t enough ways for the player to mitigate the damage bosses can readily put out not without constantly reviving members, essentially a boss fight revolves around DPS…Revive…Heal…DPS..Revive…Revive…DPS…Heal…Revive and hope that your DPS is high enough so you can down it – basically its a horrible system and a real let down fo GW2, lets not even talk about the loot…thats a whole different problem.
I do, this is almost necessary to fix alot of the current problems.
That depends on your server – high population/night capping server that dominates – this achievement is a cakewalk. Low population servers etc, forces the player to transfer servers to get this achievement, especially the stonemist keep pois/skill challenge a extremely difficult for most low ranked servers.
My opinion is that very few MMos are worth paying $15 a month.
Need match-ups, our server has the keep which I and many others on our server need for 100% map – alot of us get stuck in the endless queue, and our server then loses the keep due to an overwhelming force attacking it ~ my question to Anet -
If one side literally is overwhelming one side in terms of sheer numbers, why is there a queue? Almost looking like the queuing system doesn’t clearly apportion enough from each server to make it fair. Lets say Eternal Battlegrounds has 500 spots free, Green Server takes up 250 spots, Red Server takes up 200 spots, leaving blue Server with just 50 open spots, honestly ~ Its looking more and more like its a first-come first served basis, which if true – lowers my opinion of WvWvW even more.
Alot of people just want to finish the 100% Map, they have no interest in WvW – Some people just want to do nothing but WvW so they don’t want PvE players taking up valuable spots, and others (like myself) do a bit of both. Basically, it is forcing people to transfer servers to finish it which is a terrible terrible idea, even worse when server transfers start to cost gems – at that point, this problem will become a very major issue.
Solutions have been made, Anet has clearly not listened to any of the many posts about this. Its about time, Anet acknowledged this as a significant problem.
Some puzzles like the one in the Eternal Battlegrounds even without thief gankers is annoying enough – perhaps one of the few jumping puzzles in the game right now that seriously annoys me.
lol winning? Last week we was up against Maguuma which was another notorious server harboring hackers. I love alot of the posts on this thread defending GoM this week, and praising good work, when all the hacks started which quickittenurned the tide of battle, then all the night capping. The reason why I accuse GoM of being another typical hacker server is simple, just like with real life ~ when crime is committed and someone is an accessory Wiki to Accessory legal term Basically even if just one person hacks, then that server essentially defends the actions of the hacker – then the entire server really is an accessory to hacking – and obviously there are more than one person hacking.
Also some of the posts saying it was just one person doing it, way wrong ~ the hacking that was done Saturday and Sunday was definitely a co-ordinated strike which happened almost simultaneously and since then, other hacks cannot be totally ruled out either – I myself have seen a fair share of speed hackers. However, giving GoM one single benefit of doubt here, like a few people have mentioned – it isn’t outside the realms of possibility a few troll guilds are actively trying to destroy WvW – there is youtube evidence to support that theory.
Finally, since no point posting here again since the week is nearly over – advice to all GoM, next battle you get – I’d make sure everyone on the server keeps a look out for any hackers and immediately mass report to Anet because honestly, I think your servers general reputation this week, took another direct hit.
You could check out our casual guild
You could check out Lucky Stars ~ even though alot of us are anime fans, we also have a mix of regular gamers and players too. I’ve been a raider well, since Everquest 1 lol ~ As for as casual guilds go, we wrote the book on it ~ Whilst we still are focused on achieving goals. Right now, we have started hosting daily SoD zergs.
Lucky Stars has its first Commander, we have two more members which are also approaching the 100g needed. Because of this, Lucky Stars will be taking a more active approach in helping our members who wish to actively take part in W3.
We have finished Economy IV and Politics IV upgrades. So if anyone wishes to join us while we are still in an active recruiting phase, please contact me or any member of the guild for an invite.
Easy solution, take the PvE elements completely out of W3 – restrict player transfers to once a month – remove achievements (been there, done that) from W3. Add in a system that detects hacks, patch all exploits and then W3 will be playable.
W3 really needs to be taken down at least for a short period so all of the major gamebreaking exploits and hacks can be dealt with. When Gw2 launched these servers was a nice place, these days they are turning into a place almost as bad as Diablo III forums.
The more these hacks are allowed to drastically alter the balance of the game, the worst this game becomes – more people get discouraged, and more people quit earning the game a bad reputation in the process. In all honesty, if people can’t live without W3 for a while then they need to get out and play something else for a while. I personally would rather have a fully balanced and hack free experience, would you?
Rofl ~ GoM the server of legit hackers more like. Scorpio has it right though, I really pitty all the totally legitimate players on that server, because it’s obvious GoM is really earning such a well deserved bad reputation.
As much as I hate to say it, anet really should take down W3 altogether until all of the most serious of hacks/exploits can be patched because everyone, and I mean everyone knows, it just takes one single person to ruin the entire experience and that one single person can ruin an entire servers reputation – I think the entire GoM server needs to mend more than just a few fences.
I know, I’ve done that event/vista several times ~ Cattlepult is unclickable, I was just assuming all of that content was disabled ~ so most likely just bugged again.
Thanks! I’ve been waiting to finish my personal quest because of all the bugs I’ve been reading about Zaitan and people not receiving the correct reward – Looks like I’ll be waiting until I see a clear post from the devs that it is indeed working properly.
lol you can’t be serious? GoM used major hacks Saturday and Sunday ~ everyone saw it. No point even reporting it because Anet right now are not doing anything to stop these problems, the more they ‘allow’ this exploits and hacks to go unpunished the more and more bold these script kiddies become. Whats next? The instant kill an entire zerg hack? (joke there, looking at what happened to WoW..)
