To make demands is funny.

I guess, all the people in Eve who revolted are all idiots then? Don’t dismiss the power to the players, when something happens and enough players get behind an ideal for change.

Obviously, things are not quite that bad yet but seriously – just look what has happened in the past 2 months, and doesn’t that make you think twice? I could link to alot of past famous player revolts, but just one will do since it has a quote which should say everything. “MMORPG’s ARE ABOUT the players, and the operators of Star Wars: Galaxies have been reminded of this fact today in a rather sharp and painful manner.”

http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/1008767/star-wars-galaxies-player-revolt-success

Sure, I can/could reword the page better. Like Hellkaiser mentioned, Emotion sometimes overtakes logic. Because of that, the title was reworded.

The crazy thing is, that for the most part RNG is a requirement for MMos. The problem is with the implementation of it for various components of the game, such as crafting legendary/ascended items. If these items, was purely cosmetic like pre-vertical progression GW2, sure…it would still annoy some people but it wouldn’t be a big issue.

However, we’re playing now with obviously a vertical power-creeping version of GW2, and thus, RNG has to be remain out of that equation. Every player needs to be able to achieve the same gear/items no matter the style/type of player, whether it is a loyal hardcore fanboy or the most casual of players.

To be blunt, and direct. If you want to progress beyond a certain point in Fractals, you need agony resistance.

For that, you need to get lucky with the level 10+ Bonus Chest so you can get a ring so you can use infusions. The ring part is RNG based, but at least seems to have somewhat of a reasonable drop rate, I can’t say how reasonable because I don’t personally have a data set to work with.

However, the major part of the problem lies with Vial of Condensed Mists which are very much RNG based, and they needed. There are many posts and complaints at the poor drop rate, the reason for the post and demand is that, they are also needed for Progression – so, legitimately speaking if your unlucky enough – this will gate you into a certain fractal level until you do get lucky.

@Greg Internet is internet, having a purely 100% punctuation and grammar requirement isn’t required to post. Also, calling names etc..being condescending and generally having a bad attitude is what trolls usually do. Here, I’ll throw you a bone to chew on.

wide generalisation of opinion/experience of “all the players”
Sure, it might not be all the players – but sure as hell a huge percentage do feel the same way, and that isn’t a good thing is it? The feeling of betrayal, the lack of action and the worst, very little communication from the developers doesn’t inspire player confidence. So you tell me whats worse, a ‘Crazy Hobo player’ or a game that has a significantly fractured community which are rapidly losing faith and confidence?

suggestion of conspiracy leading to some future unwanted outcome
How can it be a conspiracy is many other people are posting about similar problems? And have continued to post valid concerns and comments since before Lost Shores even was released?

lol! Actually those was good times really – It really was a PR disaster for Blizzard in general. Whilst, I’m not starting an anti-dev moment (yet), you have to realize, and by being a witness to what happened to D3, the similarities to mistakes made, not only in game but with company PR. Sure you can stay the AMA was a great success and all but temporarily stopped the outcry, but how long will the masses be contained before players start to complain again?

My original post is clear, and concise (assuming you can read past some of my rants), If you have a game that is heavily reliant on a random aspect for progression, it will not end well for that game.

@Greg Obvious troll is obvious

Its not a matter of broken promises...

The issue really comes down to the fact that we will never know. The manifesto was just vague enough for there to be multiple interpretations. There are other things that point in different directions that, when added together with the manifesto, paint a very different picture.

Regardless of what could be lies or what could not be, there is a very clear issue. They admit that they knew this would be a large issue. They did nothing. They told players nothing. They haven’t done anything to alleviate it. There is a large amount of fallout inside and outside of the game that could have been mitigated to a very large degree.

Many of the things that they did tell players would be in the game are still not anywhere to be found. They instead focused on adding something that was never mentioned in an extremely poor, incomplete and rather snide manner.

To put it bluntly, they earned every bit of this regardless of what the truth is.

The problem is that how much flak anet takes, not matter how much we whine/complain/demand. You’ll always get players who’ll steadfastly defend them or just troll, such is the life of a regular forum poster.

Whilst, I agree with you that they did indeed earn all this negative attention, and bluntly put, this game does not deserve the game of the year at all, except maybe in the graphics department =P But the company as a whole is not listening carefully enough to the players, or not taking enough interest in very valid concerns – the standing joke is that you can’t criticize the game in forums without risking an infraction. Well, I say poop to that ~ I personally think if you like something, and want it to succeed then you fight for it. GW2 still has the potential to be a great game, no it is a great game but it needs some very significant changes to happen, most of all ~ anet needs to win back player confidence first.

Actually we can make demand threads, whether or not people choose to listen to them, is another thing entirely. Posts of this nature are usually when clearly something is wrong in game and something needs to be done about it. I can post many many links to various games from Eve’s famous protests through to protests in SWG, I personally think we might start to see protests soon, the community is seriously fractured enough. A good company and developer listens to all the criticisms constructively and works out a plan that is in the best interests of the people feeding them, the players. @Hellkaiser I guess you never frequented the Diablo III forums then…probably a good thing, those forums at its worst was probably twice as bad as the GW2 forums, with demands, threats and QQs.

There have been a million posts about the displeasure about the ascended arguments, and we have seen very little action or really anything reliable from Anet, look at all the posts, how long do you think it’ll take before the game truly sinks down to the depths of gaming hell?

I for one, want GW2 back to the game that was promised and developed. This can still be achieved even with the vertical progression provided they stop with RNG elements.

Farming Gold vs Economy

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

What you also don’t realise, you need gold for everything. If you want to craft exotics – that costs gold, if you want a pre-cursor…that’s a whole ton of gold. If you restrict the ways people can acquire gold, people will circumvent it – whether thats by using bots/gold farming websites or hacking.

What the OP said is true, but thats not going to stop or solve the problem. And right now, how to fix the economy is the 1,000,000 question.

I feel like quitting the game due to Ascended Gear

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

TsukasaHiiragi.9730

But the vertical progression only affects one part of the game, FotM. Those who care about getting to deeper areas of FotM can have their vertical progression to get armor with higher agony resistance. Everyone else couldn’t care less. How does ascended gear affect anyone doing anything outside of FotM in a meaningful way? All you’re doing is upgrading your armor to get more agony resistance.

No, there’s plenty of documented evidence showing that ascended gear has higher base stats than exotic. Further, the Q&A on reddit revealed that there will be more tiers within the infusions (so you can feel like a hamster in a wheel chaisng those too).

There is, much higher. Someone linked a data mined weapon about 3 weeks ago in Overflow map chat, I don’t remember the stats but it was far higher quality/stats than current exotics, I do remember it had a vendor price of over 6g – and that should tell you something.

Ascended Items vs RNG requirements

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TsukasaHiiragi.9730

TsukasaHiiragi.9730

Thats right, you heard correctly ~ this is a very much intended warning to Anet/Nexon/NcSoft. Look at all the threads, the issues about power-creeps, treadmills — all forms of progression whether its vertical or horizontal – one thing that many players totally overlook and this needs your complete attention to fix – R N G > Progression

You cannot, repeat cannot have any form of reliable progression when you are tied to RNG mechanics, it just simply does not work. And many other AAA MMo developers ever went that down path for required progression? Even well known titles like WoW never did. The players always had the tools, or access to down content – the illusion was that you needed certain gear drops to meet the criteria for a successful run.

Imagine if you needed X amount of drops from a random dungeon in order for you to progress in the game? Guild Wars 2 has that, its called Fractals – not only it requires you to be lucky in drops, also requires you to be lucky in general. Look at the requirements for certain ascended items? Thats besides the point, the point here is the RNG – look at Vials of Condensed Mist, these are a prime example of RNG, the drop rate is abyssal and they are needed (Arguably) for progression. Look at all the players essentially stuck on lower fractal levels because of the lack of Agony resistance, which is something that DOES rely on RNG to get you started. How many Vials have you found? Vs someone else in the same situation.

Case and Point – For future reference Anet/Nexon/NcSoft. If your going to have any form of dungeons or even future ‘raid’ content, you have to give the players immediate access, not have everyone jumping through hoops in the hopes they might just lucky, so far RNG has been one of the major thorns in the sides of this game, and its about time you did something about it.

Easy fix -

Vial of Condensed Mist – 50 fractal Scales

And how many of you guys think we’ll see other forms of ‘agony’ in the future for other dungeons? Thats part of the gear threadmill, so I’m guessing its inevitable, look at the Frozen Fractal where you get stacks of frost? Who thinks that sometime in the future we might see something similar to that? Regardless what happens, you guys can’t have any form of RNG related to progression, this is one of the reasons why people quit is when you run into brick walls that can’t be bypassed, at least not without you being lucky.

What are you on about with the monthly not rewarding players doing a variety of things? Only 1/4 of the monthly objectives is fractal runs, the others are WvW kills and things related to seasonal events or content patches.

The WvW kills makes the least sense since that is really a PvP objective. That should have been removed along ago, there was big enough stink raised several months ago about it.

Tier 3 Cultural Armor - Lets reign it in

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

TsukasaHiiragi.9730

I feel that the prices, as they stand, are unreasonable for a game which claims to have done away with the grind.

Pretty much this. Though I would say that 80s (tier 1) to 2g (tier 2) to 30g (tier 3) is RIDICULOUS. I’m not even given the option to purchase this stuff with karma (which effectively nullifies any reason I have for getting karma….) Even your suggested 7-17g a piece option is too lenient. Me, and so many other players – have been playing since headstart and have little more than 15g to our names. I don’t spend money on much of anything (repairs and occasionally mats for crafting).

The cost of cultural Tier 3, which is only rares anyways – needs to be more in line with tier 1 and 2, meaning that if Tier 2 chest is 2g, then tier 3 should be 5-7g TOPS. TOPS!

The easy fix would be to change it to requiring Karma to buy ~ that would give more reasons to go back out into the world and do events again.

Hacking; What you can do to protect yourself

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TsukasaHiiragi.9730

TsukasaHiiragi.9730

Its no secret, MMo attract hackers and players to steal account information in the hopes they can gain access to your account. Lately, I’ve seen alot of posts about this and going to make a short and sweet post in the hopes you can protect yourself and your account.

It is actually quite simple to protect yourself against most threats with several simple steps.

1) Do not use 3rd party websites that promise hacks/bots etc ~ most of the time, they will infect your computer with malware such as keyloggers which track your keystrokes to discover your password

2) Use a strong, repeat strong password. Don’t use passwords related to your username, names or your birthdate. Use a random alpha-numeric password with a mixture of upper and lowercase characters – for example G1ner2cP0sSwO3d. Sure it might be slightly inconvenient but it is better to be safe, than sorry.

3) Use a reputable anti-malware program like Malwarebytes and do occasional sweeps for keyloggers and anything that might be used to decrypt your account information.

4) And finally, never share your account information with others ~ If someone who claims to be a moderator for instance and asks for your account information, don’t give it to them – all online games companies and staff never ask for your password.

Price of Ectos is killing the game

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: TsukasaHiiragi.9730

TsukasaHiiragi.9730

They are nearly 40s on Emhry Bay now. Just sayin’, ridiculous.

All trading posts are linked regionally (or globally not sure) so the price of ectos are for the most part the same everywhere. And they are 32s last I checked in the last hour.

They are linked Globally, which is partly the reason why the economy sucks ~ you could have a very high population server where drops are easier to get because getting a group to speed farm dungeons is easy vs a low population where getting to farm anything is near impossible ~ so the low population starts to buy up all the mats/ectos etc, which raises demand and the price.

The problem is, once the price reaches a threshold where the low population servers can no longer afford the mats/ectos, then your economy starts to have problems. Players on high population servers, or who have no problems getting dungeon teams etc, do not see the problem because they already have ways of making significant money, where as the low population servers are always playing catch-up.

If the TP was server based, would that help? No, it would be 1000x worse because of the way the economy is implemented. The only way the economy would get better if the drop rates for ectos/T6 mats had a near guaranteed drop rate, and everyone knows that RNG and DR are major factors.

I agree with your point. I’m uncomfortable with the idea of everyone easily being able to get the best thing out there. It defeats the purpose of wanting and working to obtain specific items.

The problem with that is timeframe, I think personally the current timeframes imposed at vastly strict. The problem isn’t that its easy to farm gold, its just far too boring to do so. Imagine, you work a 9/5 job and come home to guild wars 2, most people then don’t want a 6/12 gold farming job just so they could maybe afford a full set of exotics.

Gold Farming needs to be balanced ASAP

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TsukasaHiiragi.9730

TsukasaHiiragi.9730

^ This ~ Basically, its one of the many ways which is seriously limiting the players options. If you ‘do’ want to go down the legendary path without buying gold, you’re going to either have to play the market very aggressively, or do Dungeon speed runs for weeks on end – even if you are earning 2g per hour – you want one of the more expensive Legendary items like Twilight, you guys realize that could be as much as 400 hours of nothing but gold grinding ~ I don’t know about you guys, but to me ~ that sounds like a job/work.

Even some of the most hardest achievements in WoW didn’t even take half as long to get. Even in Everquest II some of the legendary items are far easier to get. In fact, as far as Legendary items go ~ I think GW2 has them all beat in terms of acquring them, not because its hard – but because its incredibly boring to do so. So most of the people who currently have them, cheated/purchased gold/botted/etc – very small % of players probably did get one legitimately but I digress – this discussion is about levelling the playing field so its balanced.

You can easily say, well dungeons runners much like raiders should get the best stuff. In some ways, thats true ~ but that should only apply to certain aspects like loot. If you start forcing people into running dungeons just for a farming gold aspect and then, nerf the entire game except dungeons – then you’re going to have alot of angry players.

There was another F2P (pay to win) game last year called Eden Eternal, dungeons was the best way to level job classes, also the best way to earn coin. Good players could even solo them, for a while the game was doing pretty well until they nerfed dungeons so the exp became terrible, and the money earned also dried up. The reason for the nerf was to get more people to use the cash shop ~ you know what actually happened to the game? In the space of a month it lost 80% of the entire population playing the game, they was forced to merge the servers together and even though, the game is still alive ~ just bearly hanging on for life.

Its not secret that anet want more gem shop sales ~ however, nerfing practically everything ~ forcing players to buy gold is a terrible marketing strategy and gives the game a heavy negative outlook. The best way for the game to start getting positive feedback starts with the game being re-balanced again so whatever your style of play, you can remain competitive and viable though-out – like what was originally promised. Right now, the game is heading in the opposite direction – and you wonder why so many people are angry?

Are we not allowed to earn gold?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TsukasaHiiragi.9730

TsukasaHiiragi.9730

One of the major problems is just simply making gold in order to spend, if you roll and alt for instance, getting from 1 to 80 is simple ~ gearing that fresh 80 in all exotic gear is where the cost comes into play now. Over a month ago, you could gear a warrior in all Draconic exotics for a fraction of the price it costs now, the inflation rate has increased so dramatically but the ways for the casual players to make money, has been reduced

So, for players who like alts ~ this slaps them in the face ~ For entry players playing catch-up ~ it practically blocks them from any progression. For casual players in general it forces them to grind for many hours a day many of which, have work/studying and other commitments and none of them signed up for this new Guild Wars 2.1 game we have.

Lets see the casual players face off against fully ascended players in WvW, assuming the game will survive to that point.

This is where I disagree. If a player chooses to purchase their exotic L80 gear then that is their chose and the financial strain is their own choice. If a play chooses to get their exotic gear through dungeons then they can even gear an army of L80 alts running dungeons with a single character, or spread it across multiple characters.

A dedicated dungeon runner would have enough tokens to fully gear a new L80 alt straight away without spending 25-50+ gold.

The financial strain regarding buying L80 exotic gear is by choice since they are choosing between spending the coin on TP or spending the time in dungeons.

That really depends highly on several factors though, such as guild and server. If your on a low population server, getting to run even one dungeon is HARD. So you can’t really say that without looking at the information from a server to server point of view, I don’t know what your server (Blackgate) is like, but our server never had any access to overflows for a long time so actually getting them done was a feat in itself.

Its not even about Legendarys, look at the price of Ascended items ~ during the AMA anet stated they didn’t like the method of having 250 of ectos/T6 mats for instance, but what do you think they’ll do? Even lower the cost by 50% 125 ectos is still out of reach for alot of casual players, not in any respectable time frame.

As I see Guild Wars 2 right now, you’re looking at a rate of decay for players who are burning out from the gear progression.

Super Casual —-—- Casual —-—- Core Casual —-—- Core —-—- Semi Hardcore —-— Hardcore

In any given MMo that is starting to fail, you’ll see drop offs in the first 3 sub-groups of players, where as HC players usually quit the game last, this is due to various reasons such as being Fanbois etc etc – Alot of MMos can still exist for extended periods with the latter 2 sub groups of players, look at games like SWG for instance.

The problem is the way Guild Wars 2 is created it requires a large amount of players across the board, otherwise the game essentially starts to shut down – Look at Orr as the prime example here, also look at WvWvW. We are witnessing the very first signs of impending Death of the game unless some major changes are made, the balance of the game needs to be top priority right now, the Casual Vs Hardcore issue needs to be resolved and in GW2, it needs to be done on a level playing field, if that means giving Casual players 50g a week for free, then it has to be done – If that means, giving them welfare ascended items, then it has to be done.

Another problem is the more new obvious new players join the game, and I’m talking the ones who haven’t followed the development and even participated in the Betas and have been playing since launch are going to be expecting far too much, and demanding everything.

Guild Wars 2 was aimed directly at the what is considered the core-casual market – this is why the game had Horizontal progression for months, casual players could compete with hardcore players on equal footing – the game was more or less balanced ~ the gold farming part wasn’t really an issue since the casual players could still farm up enough to craft exotics, they could farm enough Karma to get free exotics and they could also run exp modes for dungeon skins.

New players join the game, existing hardcore players whine about no progression and the population starts to dwindle, we see an immediate reversal and a powercreep progression appear with obvious vertical progression on the cards – the implementation of fractals which again, a clear message to casual players that the game has taken a 180 reverse direction. All the time, the forums erupting with major displeasure at A-Net, even forcing them to do the reddit event. Trust me, this game isn’t aimed at the Hardcore Markets, this game will sunset over night once they travel down that path.

Its a 50/50 toss up. The F2P method will bring in alot more players, which the game needs – but at the cost of everything else. You be the judge?

Gold Farming needs to be balanced ASAP

Everything requires gold, the problem is each person sees the term ‘serious gold’ adjectivally. One person sees making 1g an hour nothing at all, another person sees making 1g a day as a triumphant.

Look at the price tag for 250 Ectos for instance, lets see how long a casual player could afford to buy at the current prices?

Why would casual player would even want to play 250 ectos? And even if he wanted to, he can in month or so.

HC players achieve things in weeks, months, Casuals in months/years.

Thats how it should be.

Thats your problem, this games selling point was the casual nature. If the HC come in demanding all the attention and loot whoring, then this game will die. Why do you think alot of the casual players have already quit? This game needs the casual players without them, the entire game will be screwed in the long run.

PvE Dailies should award 1 gold. So if i’ll play for 1 year, I can have 365 gold. but im not sure if the prices of precursors after 1 year of playing will be the same (prolly it will cost 1500 gold by then)

Exactly one of the points, casual players can’t compete for the same gear to remain viable in the long term. And the ascended powercreep makes this issue even more of a problem.

Lol Dusk itself is about 300g on the TP. I think the prices for mats required are a bit more steep than you have mentioned.

Oh I know trust me ~ Just for that pre-cursor like you say is 300g, then all the mats/gifts on top of that will require another hefty gold fee. How many non-cheaters/casuals and/or people not buying gold can ever get items like that?

It’s simple to see what has happened.

1. Increased Grind
2. DR
3. Decreased loot drops

all to force an impatient crowd into cash shop and at this point as difficult as they have made it to make gold, let alone get decent drops, they are figuring you will either stay and pay or leave.

One word for what’s happened…….Nexon

Yep, I agree ~ Its actually becoming quite comical that so many players on these forums are either so blind and in-denial that how serious a situation Guild Wars 2 is in right now.

Right now, the best and really only way to make serious gold is back to dungeon speed runs, so what if your on a low population server and even getting to do one dungeon is hard enough? Basically the entire economy is spiraling out of control because of one portion of the player population being able to get decent gold, whilst other portions of the player population cannot ~ which is leading people to quit the game because of lack of funds, the price of mats increases greatly and that causes a whole host of issues.

Anet you nerfed gold farming into the ground over the past few patches without thinking carefully what that actually means for everyone ~ gold in this game means everything because of the stupid implementation of crafting mechanics (ectos for instance) and the fact almost all the decent gear/skins require hefty gold – look at Legendary/Ascended items with a gold price tag of 300g – 700g ~ You guys realise that if you bought gold from farmers at $30 for 100g, to get a high end legendary you’re looking at $210 price tag and thats from gold farmers.

Anet you have to realize, this game IS a grindfest – advertising and even quoting that it isn’t is false advertising, there isn’t an MMo in existance that doesn’t have some form of grind – lets face it, Gold Grind and Legendary Grind is the two major grinds here – the problem with MMos is when grinding Money/Coin/Gold is one of the major grinds, alot of those end up having the majority of softcore/casual players quit due to boredom and the more harder core players resorting to underhanded methods like bots/hacks/exploits, so something needs to happen ~ and soon.

Basically, several things has to happen in order to bring the game back into balance.

1) Dungeon gold needs to be significantly reduced, dungeons need to be placed on a timer so players can’t speed farm ~ talking mobs like the Spider in AC for instance.

Or

2) Overworld gold needs to be significantly increased to be on par with dungeon drops. A data set needs to be compiled and how much gold a speed dungeon run nets and then, that data translated into the world based economy. Or just un-nerf Plinx as a start? Plinx wasn’t that awesome for earning gold TBH, it just served as a steady flow of coin.

Or

3) GW2 needs repeatable quests that reward the player with gold, lets say each zone has a quest NPC that has 5 daily repeatable quests – kill 25 Ogres etc reward 25s per quest, that is a reasonable 1g 25s for a fair amount of effort, obviously this can be worked around so low level zones reward less coin, and higher zones like in Orr can reward more – this way, you’re adding in more reasons to log in ~ players, especially casual players can start to earn some coin again.

Right now, the incentive to cheat is at an all time high, the price of mats is insane. The ability to farm gold is limited to select players, not everyone can do it ~ and thats a problem. I think unless something major changes this Month or in early January, Guild Wars 2 will be suffer another large exodus of players in February if some areas especially gold farming are not addressed.

grind more gold or pay cash. that’s the way it is.

And there it is, this is one of the major reasons why people are quitting the game in masses. Gold grinding is extremely boring, still reliant on RNG and the grind is pretty intense if you want anything decent ~ and finally, you have cash ~

Its most servers having this problem ~ my Server Ehmry Bay was always a ghost town after the first month, getting groups to do dungeons was near impossible because we had no access to the overflow server ~ yes the population was that low.

Orr on our server is a mess ~ Anet really needs guesting and really needs to look at Orr and scale it down for low population servers, best yet ~ server merge the really low population ones together.

Legendary, why is it legendary ?

On our servers there are a couple of guys with Legendarys that attained them a few weeks after launch + Commander titles and god knows what else, was they banned? Nope ~ did they cheat or exploit in some way? I bet my life they did -

Case and Point ~ You can’t expect Anet to ban anyone – The sad fact right now is that probably more and more people are buying gold from 3rd party sites because of the extreme rise in general costs, not just for legendarys but for crafting exotic gear too. Ecto prices are already rapidly approaching 40s each which is insane.

Anet, get off your fat cat behinds and start working for us, the legitimate players ~ otherwise soon, we’ll start demanding action. Because its starting to get ridiculous in-game ~ you know when things are bad when ~

$30 Anet conversion gems to gold
$30 = approx 27g

$30 3rd Party gold farming sites
$30 = approx 100g

Legendary, why is it legendary ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

TsukasaHiiragi.9730

you don’t have to buy gems to obtain the cool factor and if you did you aren’t buying better stats just a better looking item.

That may be true for you, not for all, and not for me.
Hopefully , ascension gear will stay grind fest , and everyone who wonna get it will feel same pain as those who care for “legendary” , models.

How is that not true for you or everyone else? Do you lack the ability to do anything in this game? Everything you do gives you money you just lack patience not the ability to get the cool factor without buying gems.

In a “skill-based” game why are so many of the rare items RNG/farm instead of rewarding skilled players?

Because of the intense RNG/Farm requirements, this is why alot of players turn to bots/hacks and/or purchase gold from external gold farming sites which offer a massively significant difference in gold prices ~ which makes it highly attractive for players to buy gold off-site.

Looking at the average offsite prices for gold (using gold spam as a source of data) you’re looking at 34c for 1g, which means a massive 100g for $34 ~ If you buy gems and transfer to gold, you’ll probably get a 1/3 of that if your lucky ~ so again, the players with money to burn will most likely take the risk and buy from gold farmers – and sure you can say, its against the rules ~ will you get banned? You don’t know that for sure do you? Will these players take the risk? I’m pretty sure some do.

Tier 3 Cultural Armor - Lets reign it in

…and so only those who abused the early game would have it or those who buy gold with rl cash… by those who abused early game, I specifically mean the players who used cheats…then again, I suppose there are a few who ground the gold by doing dynamic events pre-nerf after rushing to 80.

I’d tell you to go choke on a kitten but the mods would get upset.

I am however getting extremely tired of being accused of cheating, or rushing, or buying gold by a jealous minority just because I own a T3 set and they refuse believe it’s possible to earn that gold legit.

120g is not unattainable if you’ve savvy with your gold. I in fact don’t grind anything, I make all my gold simply by trading, when i pick up a sword and go out into the world it’s for the express purpose of kicking kitten and chewing gum (While dressed to kill), not the rewards.

It depends, some ‘maybe’ did, others did not ~ like some of the people who got legendarys a few weeks after launch. There are alot of botters out there, and not all of them are Chinese gold farmers, I’ve seen many US ones which are obvious people running hacks.

I’ve seen it in other games that have a significant grind, and gold farming in this game is especially bad because almost everything revolves around it – Legendary items should have been done via quests/tasks instead of gold farming/mat farming. And its not just about Legendarys either, Tier gear for instance is another, anything to raise that e-pe and some players will go to drastic lengths to stroke that ego ~ trust me, seen it every other game. Does that mean, you ‘the’ person I’m quoting cheated? Who’s to say, but one thing is for sure ~ I can’t prove it, you can’t even prove you didn’t do it ~ what sucks is the anti-cheating protection in GW2, basically it just isn’t there.

Tier 3 Cultural Armor - Lets reign it in

Its because people want to defend themselves for running there own multibox programs to farm gold. Lets face it, not that many people even have 100g+ unless you’ve ~

1) Exploited the game/botted
2) Got really lucky and found some pre-cursors
3) Farmed Plinx since Day 1
4) Speedran dungeons until your eyes bleed
5) Played the TP

The average player, and I’m talking the most average player will have around 25 to 100g tops with an unfavorable RNG. I personally have over 800 hours on my characters, I have master crafter complete and 4 80s in exotics, some purchased with karma/tokens and others crafted – and I have about 50g in regular gold, and maybe about 10g in mats.

Speedrunning dungeons requires a dedicated team constantly doing it, its not something the ‘average’ player can do. Not to mention, requires a pretty decently population servers/constant overflow ~ something, my server hasn’t had since the Halloween Events/Lost Shores.

So basically, the gold costs for many people are outrageous ~ This is the price of having a TP based across all the servers, the low and underpopulated servers get screwed over.

When you look at the Orr places from an overflow server, it looks like that. Go to your own server and check.

This wasn’t taken from an overflow server, this was a regular server image. Our server has generally a low population most of the time, only until recently has it improved slightly because of several WvW guilds from other servers have relocated to our server, which have raised our general rankings, but that hasn’t helped the PvE aspect of our server at all lol ~ heck even getting dungeons done has been a challenge.

FotM has done one major positive change for our server and that is LA has an overflow again, for nearly a month our servers Lions Arch was a ghost town as well.

The main problem is many if not all the major contested events are all group based, so one single player cannot really affect or change Orr ~ I’d like to see one single person take on Balt for instance…. If all of Orr was scaled down this wouldn’t happen.

Not to mention, for people trying to get world 100% it becomes a nightmare, heck its almost impossible right now unless your server actually has a significant Orr presence.

Glad they pointedly brushed off the list of questions the playerbase has been working on for 2 weeks. Thanks for your effort, samuraikitten88. Sorry they were in vain.

that list would take weeks…its like 100 questions long..its naive to expect him to stop, ignore any questions live people are asking just to answer those.

And it has questions the majority of the forum-visiting playerbase has been asking. If they answer those, far fewer people will be posting their questions. And there’s about 50 questions.

I agree. Given the choice I would rather have then just answer these questions and post it on the forums rather then this whole Reddit thing.

You see, Reddit gives them a chance to pick and choose what they answer. Its all politics.

This is a PR thing..putting answers on a forum for people who are already fans or customers isnt as good of a PR move. He is answering the questions and not dodging even the more difficult ones though.

That’s why I didn’t bother, its like a scripted rehearsal. These guys have probably been practicing the past weekend for this. I also didn’t need to ask any questions because everyone else is asking the very same questions I would have asked.
