There were no other objectives, we owned hills and bay at the time, and even if they took them back we didnt care, those 2 were flipped from t3 to paper, all we wanted to do was remove the upgrades on garrison.
When VoTF set their raid the intention wasnt “get the highest ppt” it was simply, flip each keep once to remove upgrades.
We got to the last keep, but due to the waypoint location, the layout (its garrison after all) the keep proved to be impossible to capture. And we certainly do know how to play the game, if there was a viable counter we would have thought of it on the spot.
Discussing the matchup? This entire thread was fail from the start anyways, all ive read is “bla bla ive wiped this guild, they blobbed”. I offer you a discussion on actual game mechanics, something that requires some depth or knowledge of the game, and immediately “I am entitled to my opinion!” qq. Grow up, I never said you werent, I simply asked whether it is good for the game or not.
Although encouraging discussion is hard, instead what I will do is post screenshots of all the GH guilds we have wiped over the week, cause trust me its a lot.
Just because some people are putting oil on the fire doesn’t mean there isn’t a decent discussion going on.
I’d like to end it from my part with the conclusion we did what we have to do to counter your numbers. It is a broken mechanic, yes, but it gave us alot of fun and you guys alot of lootbags. We can make each other out for pathetic players, no skillers or whatever but in the end we both did what we had to. You said you guys blobbed up because you rather not spend hours on taking down a T3 keep and we used the banners to keep our waypoint, simple as that. You said you guys didn’t start the raid with the mind set on PPT, we didn’t start our raid with the mind set on tactically bannering the lord up to banner number 50 on all our upscaled alts we specially leveled up to prevent the massive FRS blob from capturing Garri ( sorry, I fell out in troll modus there for a second, excuse me )
The actual mechanic is pretty much broken, but I’d still be defending the way we treated this situation. We saw massive numbers and did the best thing we could do to keep our waypoint. If the discussion is about the actual mechanic rather then the way we treated this I totally agree with you guys. If it’s about the way we handled it, read my previous posts.
Even if the mechanic is broken, it wouldn’t be to hard to wipe us. You could easily put people on the watergate exit and north inner exit, send 2 groups upstairs the ramp, 1 on the roof and 1 in the Lord’s Room. You guys had 80+ people while we had about 30 to 40? We were outnumbered heavily atleast. If you used your mind rather then chasing the lord everytime it was bannered and sending up 1 guild upstairs at a time it’d be done within 5 minutes max by first taking out all the players before caring about the lord.
This is my personal opinion and doesn’t express the guild’s opinion.
We can’t control what other guilds/players on our server do. If there already is pre-built siege, that’s something I can’t help. I am talking about the situation WE’ve been in, not what other players like to do or even did before you guys started the raid.
What do you expect is going to happen when your home borderlands is fully upgraded? We going to take a keep with 20 players when you have more siege inside the keep than we have players in our raid? Then warbanners and waypoint, because of broken game mechanics? Get real.
You can find us running on the field by ourselves, and we will see who has to blob who to score kills
I can’t deny you guys are very strong in the field without blobbing up, but still you’re getting the facts wrong there buddy. The guys built so much siege because VotF, KALE ánd PUNK were inside Garri. Actions, reactions. I’m personally not a big fan of building so many siege, but because we learned our lesson what happened tonight in Hills and in Bay ( KALE, Punk ánd VotF blobbing up to capture it ) you need to respond ’’properly’’ on it.
All in all we had loads of fun inside Garrison. We might have given you guys loads of kills ( How much % did you guys gain on your road to Ultimate Dominator? ). Defending like this with Benny Hill Theme song in the back is just hilarious. Thanks for the kittens and giggles.
Did you really think they’re going to change it? The fact that they wanted to see a decrease in numbers is just another way of telling you they don’t care. They’ve spent money and/or time on getting this buff implemented, so they won’t change it. We will never be able to REALLY see a huge decrease in numbers which makes it out of control for us. Nothing we can do about it.

Hey guys, we had some nice fights on DL BL, GH BL and unfortunately EB was a mess..
Let me start about EB. We were catapulting Klovan and [MM] were stacking up on top of the tower. They didn’t want to come out at all. We tried everything. /point, /laugh, /dance with our pants down, they just wouldn’t come. They were building ACs and ballista’s in Klovan so we decided to hit Quentin. We went to Quentin and we took the camp to resupply and guess who came.. [MM].. They saw we were in the camp and they ran back to their safe walls. We had other guilds coming in now aswell so our tail got caught and FINALLY, when we were outnumbered, [MM] pushed on us and killed us. Hats off [MM], I’ve NEVER seen such a poor show of a guild.
We started this reset in GH BL, hats off to FURY, you guys wiped us hard.
All in all we had some nice fights with FURY, LC, TEO and FRS. Too bad that when we had good fights with FRS that TEO came in at the same time.
Very nice Ring of Fire nightcrew to hack yourself into our keep when all the gates and walls are still up.
I reported at least 5-6 of you, get ready for fun in the real world.

We had some awesome fights tonight with AoA and SoW (mistake me if I’m wrong on the guild tag, excuse me) around Bay and Garrison in RoF BL. Too bad you guys blobbed up at the end
All in all, and I’m speaking for my whole guild now, we had some amazing fights with SoW, AoA, Punk and Kale. Was a good matchup. Just too bad that some Fort Ranik guilds like dova and EO always are found in blobs..
So.. I was doing some roaming on Far Shiverpeaks Borderlands and I encountered; Far Shiverpeaks Solder [ABC], a level 80 ranger. We had a 1v1 and he kept losing and when he was about to die he ran away. After 5 minutes continously engaging me when I thought oh well.. This noob can’t kill me.. he called for backup and suddenly 7 people jumped me, killed me and started dancing and laughing.
What a bad joke. Says enough about this week’s matchup quality.
The stat boost, while controversial, is there to give the buff meaning in the context of the general WvW battle. Providing boosts like %WXP, etc. don’t have impact in fights against other sides, they are just a nice bonus for you. The stat boost and the points for finishing players mean that not only do you want to have the buff, but you don’t want your opponents to have it.
And it also means that outnumbered servers will get their kitten wooped even harder which causes an imbalance. Didn’t you guys see what happened to other games? It’s going downhill with this game aswell if you add imbalances.
The last few days actually have been quite enjoyable with a lot of good fights. All we had to do was not to go to underworld border. (You can quote me for recruitment or advertising.)

Sounds like we give too much fun fights on our own BL.. Maybe we should stop giving them so you guys go back to UW BL and we can tick our safe, hard earned points.
All jokes besides, I’ve had alot of fun last days. We were all screaming and raging when you guys managed to choke us at Briar that easily while we outnumbered you ATLEAST 2:1, but hey, it happens. We’ve beaten you guys down aswell sometimes. I’ve had alot of fun with all the guilds of GH. Some of you are tough cookies
But to be honest I can’t complain about the guilds of UW either. Especially SLAY, hats off lads, had some epic fights while I was commanding against you lot.
I agree with Talon here. Every week Ring of Fire is credited for not backing down and giving a fight no matter how hard we’re outnumbered or no matter how hard we lose.
There are a few exceptions, but mainly because those servers ( there are a few good guilds on both servers, don’t get me wrong ) can’t win without outnumbering us.
I’ve been commanding all evening in reset night, I had a blast. We had a very nice open field combat with Drakkar Lake. You guys outnumbered us 3:1, but we still managed to wipe that mainzerg until a guild group ( I believe [LC] ? ) came in and wiped us because alot of our forces already had been killed by the main zerg.
Fort Ranik had some serious numbers aswell. Awesome fight in the Lord’s Room of Garrison! The skill lag was unbearable but all in all we had some amazing fights and we will continue to give you fights all over the map.
RoF did some blobbing tonight because nobody would take command in our Borderlands, but I will lead the guild over the week in some smaller skirmishes, hope we face some small skirmish guilds aswell to have some more of those awesome fights. I’d love to face LC, you guys rocked!
We’ve had alot of fun this matchup guys. My guild, [RoF], had had his first rough week since it’s existence, next time we’ll meet you guys we’ll make a bigger threat as we were now so keep an eye out next time!
All in all I had an entertaining match up. Sure it sometimes really got boring, but we made it entertaining ourselves by using 4 golems to rush a simple wooden tower.
Also Thursday night FoW put up quite a fight! We were trying to push them back to Woodhaven and they defended it as if that tower was their mum’s home! I loved that fight guys. I’ve never seen you guys deploy as much as siege before!

I already figured out what I did wrong. I bought it through the gemstore after I traded my gold for the 400 gems you need. Can you please refund me the 400 gems or unlock my bag slot. I really don’t want to spend 12 gold for nothing cause I made a little mistake.
Since like two days ago I got issues with the Trading Post. I can sell and collect my money, but I can’t buy anything anymore. It just will not load. Even when I try to use the search function on the Trading Post it does not do anything.
Also when I’m selling it won’t show the images of gold, silver and copper. I only see the numbers in the colors of bronze, copper or gold.
After thinking about it for a while a simple solution would be to change the system as following:
Instead of the current recipe
4 x item -> 1 x item
with a probability of p for the resulting item being a precursor, make it as
4 x item -> precursor_shard (probability q) OR 1 x (non-precursor) item (probability 1 – q)
and make precursors available through the recipe
m x precursor_shard + fancy_stuff -> precursor (guaranteed)
By setting q / m = p the expectation value of a precursor stays the same as before. However, instead of an exponential distribution, the system now follows a binomial distribution, with a significantly smaller variance.
In simpler terms, it would be just like the system used for crafting mystic clovers. Can you imagine what it would be like if the only mystic clover recipe had a 1/250 chance of producing 77 clovers in one go, and 249/250 chance of producing random junk?
The suggested solution gives the system a coarse memory through the accumulation of shards, and cuts out worst excesses in both directions. In that system it’s still in average just as hard to get a precursor as before, but now that hardness is reasonably fair.

I am definitely working on the precursor scavenger hunt, but like others have said, things like this take time and I want to get it right. Not to mention, it’s not the only thing on my plate. Please do not expect to see the precursor scavenger hunt in the next patch. I may be awesome, but I am still only human and this is a fairly large amount of work to get done and done right. Please be patient!
Now you’ve read the quote I copy pasted above I’m wondering what the progress is on this scavenger hunt. Are we going to hear anything about it? It’s been 6 months now.
I’m not trying to kitten you or your team down I just hope to get some more information. I’ve spent tons of gold on trying to get a precursor in every way you can possible imagine, doing all the world bosses for months now etc. etc. but still no precursor. My only hope is the scavenger hunt you’ve posted about, so please give me/the community heads up what’s going on behind the scenes!

I’m from the RoF server and I’ve got to agree on some comments stated above. We are actually allowing you to capture some so we have atleast something to do. Your strategy’s aren’t bad, you guys just don’t have the numbers.
I’ll be honest about how to obtain highest DPS with engineer:
Time to play it like it’s starcraft.
You’ll be 30/10/0/0/30 (if I could go 10/30/0/0/30 and still have grenadier, I would for more precision), and using rifle, medkit, grenade kit, elixir gun, and tool kit. Elite is negligible. You’ll juggle Blunderbuss, Jump Shot, Elixir F, Acid Bomb (hit ~ in mid-air to avoid flying too far back, unless you want to make some distance), Prybar, Throw Wrench (line yourself up if you can so it won’t collide with a wall – if it will, don’t bother using this, your auto will do more damage than half of Throw Wrench), Shrapnel Grenade, Freeze Grenade, and Grenade Barrage. Since Scope doesn’t work, you’ll be running power tools, alongside kit refinement, 50% more endurance regen, grenadier, 10% more explosive damage, shrapnel, and 20% rifle CDR. The build takes a lot of memorization, but you’re basically bursting nonstop, with 2-3 second downtimes at which point you primarily use Grenade. You’ll hit 9-11 vuln without using jump shot or grenade barrage on bosses (when you do it can spike up to 15-17 for a few seconds), and can easily hit ~16-20 bleeds if you simply keep using the grenade auto attack + shrapnel, although I don’t advise this as you’re neglecting all your other VERY hard hitting skills.
Sorry for the curiosity and going way off-topic, but I’m really wondering what armour, runes/orbs, jewelery ( + jewels ) and sigils you’re using with this build. I’m not the type of guy to completely ’’steal’’ a full build but I might take this build in consideration when I get all the details and make some adjustments here and there to optimize it to my favours.
