The Secksy Monk [Guild Wars 1]
Stormbluff Isle – Storm Slayer Dragons [SDS]
Trahearne is Kormir reincarnated.
True story.
“I’m six feet tall!”
Oh, you.
And I also run a shout build on my charr, but I never really get tired of hearing “For Great Justice!” It, to this day, makes me absurdly happy.

I’m running on a very old system, playing on the lowest graphic settings @ 720p. Before and during Halloween, I could maintain a playable 15~20 FPS. Now, after Halloween, my frame rate is at 7 and dips as low as 3 or 4 sometimes. This has effectively rendered the game unplayable. :/
I mean, am I? Particularly with personal story quests. The lines always feel so artificial, as if they characters aren’t necessarily addressing each other, just talking at one another. This was always especially apparently with Trahearne and battle sequences. His voice isn’t urgent enough, his tone inappropriate.
Maybe I’m just being nit-picky, but I was just expecting something… more.
Arena Net, you and I have had a rocky relationship through the years (And we’ve been together for 7 years now! My, how time flies!) We’ve had our ups and downs, sometimes you make me cry, sometimes I you ask me for money for the most menial of tasks, and sometimes you mood swing so violently that I end up needing a neck brace for several weeks.
But, through it all, you’ve always tried to treat me right. You let me tag along on your wonderful adventures free of charge, and you always have something special planned for the holidays (and your taste in hats has always been impeccable!).
Arena Net, don’t ever change.
Sincerely,
Tyloric
TL;DR: Halloween is awesome.
For someone like me, there is absolutely nothing fun about this. I’ve attempted this event well over a hundred times. It’s not even a ‘puzzle’, it’s a timed, frustrating gauntlet.
I don’t have a high end computer. In fact, in terms of technology, my system is ancient. I run on the absolute lowest settings, including subsample models, at 720p and I still have frame rate issues. For someone in my situation I can’t react quickly enough so matter what I do to actually complete the puzzle. And I’m timed. I’m not even allowed to figure out what I’m doing.
I get that some people find this to be the easiest thing in the world, and I respect that. I’m just legitimately pissed that I’m about to miss out on the Emissary of the Mad King achievement because of one event.
/rant.
EDIT: Oh, and the wait times are what make this really unbearable.
But where is the clock tower, guys? >_>
I suggest also picking up the books: Ghosts of Ascalon and Destiny’s Edge. Good starting points.
There are a couple of things I feel are worthy of noting:
1) In Nightfall, it is pretty much explained that the gods have taken a back seat in the happenings of Tyria. They are aware of its happenings, but have left the dealings of life there to its inhabitants.
2) The dragons are quite possibly just as formidable as the gods, if not more. It may even be a possibility that the gods could be threatened by the dragons. If Grenth were regulating the undead (and in Zhaitan’s case, it would surprise me if he was trying), he may just be unable to completely hold that power back.
Grenth was not the original god of Death, Dhuum was, and Grenth and the other reapers were unable to destroy Dhuum. The PC’s in GW1 locked Dhuum away in the hall of judgment again, but that’s still just a temporary fix. So, Grenth is fighting two battles, effectively.
As for the other gods, I am unsure, but I do know that Balthazar was the first human to be made a god, and (much) later Kormir took Abbadon’s place.
Compared to the dragons, I think the gods are actually relatively young.
Nope. Broke in the same spot. 2nd research team will not follow me.

Try this:
- Just continue playing
That’s what I did the first time. I never have to retry it. Seriously, just continue to play, as long as he is alive, cutscenes and other triggers will trigger. It worked that way for me, so hopefully it works for you too.
The bug stops after a cutscene. If he bugs again, I just make sure he is alive and continued without him. On the next dialogue scenes (not necessarily cutscenes), he just showed up out-of-nowhere and started helping me.
After trying that method and it still doesn’t work, then sadly, you’ll have to wait until it gets fixed. But do pray the workaround works (workaround = make sure he is alive and just continue with the mission).
You can’t just ‘keep playing’. For me, the quest stopped and I could not progress post a barrier because the NPC that was supposed to destroy is refuses to move.
