The Secksy Monk [Guild Wars 1]
Stormbluff Isle – Storm Slayer Dragons [SDS]
I wasn’t able to be apart of the other betas. But now that I’ve pre-purchased I plan to do as much exploring as I can. I love taking in the new sights.
The Eye of the North is now in the heart of Jormag’s domain, right? Is there any explanation why the structure is still standing at all? The dragons consume magic and magical artifacts to survive, and the Eye definitely qualifies.

I really wish they would give us something about the game itself. How is the story going to unfold, what can we except, what sort of “epic new bosses” are we going to be fighting? Really all we’ve had was a couple of betas that had very limited content and info on the professions. It is frustrating knowing only about guild halls and a borderland.
Hey guys, I’m looking for a little guidance on how to use my guardian in pvp. I’ve had my guardian almost since launch, but have never really experimented with him in spvp. I made a build that I’m pretty satisfied with, but it does seem to have its short comings (currently he’s a glass cannon, in a since). I’m using him as a burn guardian.
Weapons: Sword (Bursting)/Torch (Smoldering), Staff (Battle and Water)
Amulet: Carrion
Rune: Balthazar
Heal: Guardian – Utilities: Judge’s Intervention, Contemplation of Purity, “Stand Your Ground!” – Elite: “Feel My Wrath!”
Radiance: Inner Fire -> Radiant Fire -> Amplified Wrath
Zeal: Fiery Wrath -> Kindled Zeal -> Shattered Aegis
Virtue: Retaliatory Subconsciousness -> Supreme Justice -> Permeating Wrath
If anyone has any tips or suggestions to offer, I’m open to it!
I’m willing to bet that the Warrior spec will be called “Berserk” with torch offhand or dagger off/main hand.
All I know is that if there was a subscription I wouldn’t be able to afford to play. I’m a poor college student.
Your parents need to spank your bottom.. All kidding aside this is a pointless thread.
Lol and? Jeez do you guys have to always keep it formal on these forums? They are just that. Now I’m not talking about full on barrens chat like we see in the mists, but man take that stick out of your bums people. I didn’t hold a gun to your heads guys. You didn’t have to reply. Glad you did though
narrows eyes suspiciously
I work for a game store and the only purchase than can be made is for a digital code. There isn’t a physical copy of the game in our system and it is clearly marked as “DLC” (which is a blanket term used for all digital sales).
With Heart of Thorns on the horizon (hopefully not to far away), I’ve been wondering what the future of the living story will be. Will there be a season three down the road, perhaps after – or if at all – season one is remade into something more permanent? If so, would the content require Heart of Thorns?
Things that make you go…. huh.
Too many rewards boxes? This is the opposite of a problem.
We’re all going to die.
I still disagree with you. I believe $50 to be a fair price, and with all the threads out there you really didn’t need to make another one.

People don’t seem to realize that core GW2 is included, not being charged for. I fully expected this to be $50. How you guys see the massive amount of content HoT is? Mostof you are complaining but are going to buy it anyway. If it really bugs you that much wait for the inevitable price drop is six months kitten .
Godspeed, guys. That is an incredibly terribly situation and I hope you don’t mind that I’ll keep you all in my prayers. Losing someone special so suddenly… I can’t even imagine. I hope the people at ANet help you guys out!
….I just asked a friend to do it. :X
Yes, it will return, the developers stated so at the end of LS1 and several times during LS2, there is no if, just a matter of when.
I want you to link me to that interview/article, because I’m willing to bet they didn’t. What resources do that currently have available for such a massive undertaking?
Give us player housing first, and THEN suggest the furnature. Thankyou
Guild Halls are their answer to that. Personal housing is never going to be a thing, I don’t think, and frankly I don’t think it should be.
The personal home instance is already there though.
May as well see it through with complete housing. What functional purpose would that serve? Honestly, how often you you invite people over into your personal home if it only serves as an aesthetic?
Roleplayers would use it quite often. Likely more than guildhalls ever will be.
Bit of a niche group for such a large undertaking.

I quite like my Charr’s wit as he’s in combat. But I’m hoping they record a larger pool of phrases because I do admit the same phrase can be repeated in quick succession.

Mini Tybalt, Charr Toy Solider, and that wolf thingy currently in the gem store.
I would expect that that goes without being said.
I’ve never been a fan of the current offering of dungeons. If there are new dungeons they really need to step up their game as far as I’m concerned.
Probably because they’re not finalized. This is all pre-release.
This might be my favorite thread ever.

It’ll eventually be multiple paths. That’s what the whole idea is about. Right now there’ll be one. Later on more will be added.
Yes, eventually it should be a great plan, alot like secondary profession options gave you in GW1, but after just shy of 3 years from the initial launch, getting the 1 specialization for each class feels weak to me. And I was a huge GW1 fan, played it right up till GW2 finally arrived. GW2 was lacking at the outset to grab me the way GW1 did (lack of individuality in builds) so this finally being added to the game is huge to me, but like I said, starting with a single specialization isn’t much of a choice to swap between. Stay as you are or have this one option? That’s limited choice, though better than the current no choice…
2 years from now it’ll probably be great…
In one ear and out the other with you, eh? They could have just as easily only added new skills and skipped the “specializations” all together. Would you be complaining then? Probably.
I for one am excited to see what new direction I’ll be able to take my warrior in. Will I have to give up the ability to use war horns in order to use, shall we say, a pistol? Sounds awesome to me.
Plus we know so little about everything this is all completely speculation.
I’m actually quite happy with this
The actual answer is the biggest bro hug in the world and then they go get a drink (or 10) and Rytlock shows everyone how to play blindfold darts.
This is my favorite.
I definitely will be making one, but I don’t know if it will be on launch. I have so much time and money invested in my warrior I’d like to play with him first!
I adored season 2, and each episode gives you some pretty cool loot. Whether or not you want to buy them is up to you.
I don’t want Trahearne replaced, just his voice actor. The guy has no sense of urgency or personality when reciting his lines.
I was having an argument with someone in LA that it was over and they were convinced it wasn’t. Confirm or deny, someone?
The only correct answer to this question is yes.
I want to be able to channel Prince Rurik and then just run in and cast healing signet while saying, “I remember this place from when I was a boy.”
You’ve encountered the eternal alchemoose, I see.
what do mean external attack DDos?game is disconnecting often.last time took 30 seconds and i got kicked with 7:11 3:191:101 error message.
Which is exactly what happens during an attack. :|
They’ll see this faster if you actually click ‘report bug’ in game.
There are not enough words to express my love for this.
I like being called boss, and I never thought of it as a ‘title’ but more of a nickname – a gender neutral thing they can refer to me that shows they <3 me but also respect me.
I wasn’t expecting her to die. ;-;
I was actually really sad when she did!
The water isn’t casting mending on me.
ANet, I am disappoint.
It will eventually be in the gem shop, I believe. We don’t know the time frame on that!
Shortly after launch, I started a discussion on how disappointed I was with the voice acting in GW2’s main campaign. Bobby Stein himself was gracious enough to add his $.02 to the conversation and it actually had some really good discussion!
Now, I’ve never been a fan of the Living Story. I thought season one was boring and never logged in to the events because, really, at the end of the day they were of little consequence. While I still think there are several glaring issues about the game, that’s not what this post is about. I’m here to talk about the state of the game’s voice acting.
In the game’s main campaign, a huge majority of players hated how monotone the acting was and how the one-on-one cut scene style really broke the flow of the narrative (myself included).
The living story only briefly began to pick up the pace in terms of its story telling near the end – the really impressive stuff really starting during the nightmare tower – which is when I really started to get back into the game.
And now we have season two, and whoa, color me impressed. The flow of conversation between characters (whether in the world or in missions) seems natural – though NPCs in the world really do repeat themselves quite often, particularly in Dry Top – and I’m in love with the fact that the two character cut aways are gone and we’re really starting to see some proper cutscenes (the end of episode two was glorious!)
If I have one complaint it’s that the PC doesn’t really seem to be involved with the narrative anymore outside of text bubbles, but the game has seen leaps and bounds since launch, and I’m willing to bet the lack of PC acting it due to time constraints (since the PC is technically ten separate characters).
Bobby, if I ever meet you in public I’m going to give you a right-proper man hug. Because you – and your team – have restored my faith in this game and for this first time in many months I am actually excited to see what the future of GW2 has in store.
EDIT: Now that I’ve actually posted this, I’m aware that it might be more beneficial to have posted this in the ‘story’ section of the forums. Oh well.

I’ve honestly always assumed that their wouldn’t be new professions, only new weapon types.
Seriously, I want muh scythes back.
Think of Destruction magic as straight up things go boom (IE: fire magic). Aggression magic would be like a guardian using a teleport skill or Zealot’s Fire or a thief using a shadow step. Denial magic most likely refers to necromancer’s and mesmer type magics, like glyphs and illusions. Something like water magic would fall under Preservation. Elementalists can use Destruction and Preservation, but not the other two schools. See what I mean?
As for being capable of utilizing all types of magic, that more means that it’s impossible to practice multiple arts of magic. A guardian will have little or no talent for the mesmer arts, a necromancer would never be able to control the elements like an elementalist can, ect. In the first Guild Wars, players could practice a secondary profession but (from a lore standpoint at least) they were never as proficient with that art as someone who used it as their primary class.
If I’m remembering my lore correctly, that is.

My main set is Greatsword/Longbow. I personally adore the longbow.
I can’t say I’ve ever primarily run just ranged, though. That seems a bit counter productive. Warriors are tough and can take a beating, so I think primarily their spot should be upfront. I use my bow when I hit about 25% health. It’s good to be able to dodge roll back and immediately have a ranged attack at the ready.
I prefer bow over rifle because of the bow has AoE attacks, a blind, an immobilize, and the only combo starter on the warrior (the burst skill).
Hammers have decent damage on their own, but that’s really not their intended purpose. They are excellent weapons to use for big AoE stuns and damage, and even have an AoE cripple, and an AoE knock back.
tl;dr: Hammers are best used for crowd control.
Holy balls. I haven’t checked this thread in a while… look at how many replies!
I’m glad to see I wasn’t alone in this.
I personally consider Nolan to be one of the best voice actors in the industry at the moment.
But I found his performance in GW2 to be very bland. I have never heard him sound so dull (though I have not played SWTOR).
I’ve always loved this conversation near the Asura gates in LA:
Norn: “If I chase a wounded prey through the gate, will it cauterize the wound?”
Asura: “I… I don’t know. My word, what an intriguing question.”
Norn: “How can a question be intriguing?”
I laughed so hard when I first heard this.
