You might want to consider Superior Runes of Altruism. I don’t know how much healing is done by runes of the flock and whether it’s worth it or not but Altruism will get you 3 stacks of might and fury when you use a healing skill and +15% boon duration along with your +healing power.
Are you able to jump in these transformations or did you just transform for the pictures?
You can jump as a Plush Griffon, Princess, and Toy Soldier (not ventari). I used the tonic at the start of the jumping puzzle and didn’t change out of it between the start of the JP and those pictures. I even picked up the torch as a Griffon and it did change my skill bar to the torch skills.
To be fair I fully expected Lyns to be gone after the Lost Shores event, I don’t mind a couple weeks downtime if it means she’ll be sticking around!
This is very very true. I’m very curious what she’s going to have in stock when she gets back though.
I’m hopeful for keys but if not keys it seems like she must have something that is desirable in mass quantities. Unless they change the recipes for getting 2,000 commendations the only reason anyone ever did that more than once was keys so without something like that commendations would just be way too easy to get and thus essentially worthless.
Of course I also have 720 crates (36,000 commendations) so I’ll feel a little dumb if there isn’t such a thing. Then that would be my fault entirely and not really Anets since I made the mistake of making them after Lyns was disabled but before I knew it was the case (missed that patch note).
Am I missing something? The tonics are not the actual mini, correct? To make the 2 minis using the cogs, that’s 100% guaranteed from the mystic forge, right?
If so, what exactly do the tonics do?
They transform you in to whatever tonic. The Endless Plush Griffon Tonic is a reusable item that will transform you in to a plush griffon for 15 minutes (or until you cancel out of it). As with all transformations it can be used for the costume brawl as well.
Yes the minis are 100% guaranteed. The Endless Tonics don’t use Cogs though and since (as far as I know) you can only get 500 cogs ever you will likely have 3 frames left over. This gives them a use. Or you can make all 5 tonics and buy the minis with gems.
We do not have an ETA on when Lyns will be accepting commendations. To clarify about timing: this will not happen during Wintersday, but in a future game update. Sorry about the confusion, everyone, and thank you for your patience.
Thank you for finally giving a response to this issue.
I’m a little sad I have to hold on to my commendations for so long, but I’m happy to know I will at least be able to use them eventually.
I just did it and it worked for me.
Although for the record, you don’t always get a Karma container. Twice I’ve gotten a bag instead of Karma (heavy moldy bag I think, one of those types anyway).
Not so cute. (the griffon transformation can apparently pick up the torch in the EB JP)
anyone know if they are changes or just temporary disabled due to a bu?
That thread is the only official statement on the matter that I’m aware of. To save you clicking if you don’t want to:
Anthony Ordon: It will be in the game during Wintersday.
So either it will be back before January 3rd or Anet lied/changed their mind.
That fourth one o.0 Would not want to anger your griffon!
Yeah that’s my favourite picture of the bunch. It’s my little demon griffon come to kill you!
I’m not sure if the princess can pick up the torch or not. I didn’t try but I would assume so. Ventari can’t jump so it’s irrelevant and I don’t have the endless toy soldier tonic sadly.
So I do the EB JP a lot so for fun I did it as a Plush Griffin today.

Edit: I hope they don’t patch this out. It was fun.
What you guys dont understand is that doing this would cause Anet to lose a lot of money. By making them tradeable, there would be a massive amount of them put on the TP for a bit of silver at most. If this happens, who’s going to buy gift boxes from the store?
Im sorry that Anet isnt super duper jesus tier charitable but NO COMPANY WHO WANTS TO CONTINUE MAKING MONEY EVER IS.
Its as simple as that.
You haven’t looked up Mini prices on the TP have you?
The Karka and Reef Drake around 30-50 gold EACH. If the minis out of the events chests (not the frame minis) were not account bound I can guarantee they would be up for 30-50 gold apiece.
The frame minis would run ~6 gold 50 silver because that’s the current cost of 350 gems. Post Wintersday the frame minis would likely spike up to 30-50 gold each as well because of no new supply.
NO!!!!!!!
Never do this. Several people have tried and gotten back things like Endless Golem Tonic (tomorrow’s tonic).
Just don’t do it. (someone did say they got an Endless Toymaker Tonic which would be worth it but it’s RNG)
Considering the base of the lion is made, they are probably doing some changes for the next phase of the resconstruction efforts
And it is built almost entirely out of Trinkets!
That fish on the west side, that is made out of Candy Corn Orichalcum Amulets.
I’m sure you’re right that is the in-game lore reason but I suspect there’s other reasons why this is happening in the real world. Most notably, Black Lion Keys.
Lyns has been disabled since Wintersday started despite a statement that it would be available during Wintersday. Didn’t know packing was gone but doesn’t surprise me.
You could make commendations prior to the last patch. I made 640 crates yesterday before the patch (had some donation packaging from before).
If you have packaging and the recipes don’t work anymore that is new as of yesterday’s patch.
@OP
I think your suggestion about a way to get new frames and only frames would be great. Since the endless tonics are account bound no one needs more than one and without cogs people can’t make more than 2/5 minis anyway.
It would just mean people could get 5/5 tonics if they want and 2/5 minis unless they spend gems.
(edited by Moderator)
I wonder if Anet can confirm the Endless Toymaker is the intended result, or random? If its random, its pretty crappy seeing what most people invested to make them NOT TO MENTION those SAME people are likely shelling out cash to the Gemstore to BUY the minipets.
Any word on this? Is the Golem a mistake? If not, thats pretty low.
This is kind of how I feel on the matter. I would happily put four tonics in the forge for an Endless Toymaker but if it’s not a guaranteed thing I am NOT doing it. I’d be really kitten off if I got just one back.
I’d rather just keep my princess, ventari, griffon, and golem tonics (made the solider mini before I knew).
P.S. I am sooooo sorry for those who got shafted by this. Thank you for testing it, but I’m sorry you got the unpleasant end of the stick.
They’re crafted, but I don’t think you can just discover the recipe. It drops from presents, or you can buy it with Ugly items.
You can’t buy it with Ugly items and I haven’t seen the recipe anywhere. As far as I’m aware the Sigil of Generosity is drop only (from presents).
I could be mistaken but every other recipe is on the TP for like 2 silver or less and there’s nothing for this one.
Edit: There’s also never been more than 200-300 of them on the TP at the same time since Wintersday started.
Endless Dolyak. It also just showed up as a form in the endless toymaker.
So you can use 4 endless toy tonics to make and endless dolyak tonic? Not worth it.
This might be rather risky, but has anyone tried to use the doll in place of the frame and see if it makes the tonic?
If that works, and you get the doll back in a package on each failure, I’d gladly try that and then just buy the doll.
The minis can not be combined with Glue, Stuffing, or Glittering Dust. So this won’t work. I just went to try it with my Toy Soldier (I want the tonic instead…)
Anyone tried 4 tonics together yet?
Say you have 250 of an item and there is a buy order at 65c for 50 of them.
- You click “Sell Maximum” and then Sell.
- 50 will be instantly sold for 65c to the person/people who placed the buy order.
- The remaining 200 will be auto-posted at 65c as a sell order.
>OP
In the business world, it’s called a “sale”. Use Google to look it up.
I can’t recall the last time a AAA title had a sale within the first 3 months. If something is continuing to sell well why reduce the price so soon?
You don’t use Steam do you?
I’ve seen games have sales in the first month (AAA titles).
Here’s my quick video showing off the Toy Princess tonic, and showing the recipes for all of the tonics, enjoy.
I’ll add a bit more detail, since some of you seem to be interested
Recipe for each one:
- 50 Wads of Enchanted Stuffing
- 50 Drops of Magic Glue
- One Pile of Glittering Dust
- Lastly, you will need one of the frames. The frame determines which Endless Tonic you will get, so for example if you wanted the Endless Princess Doll Tonic you would need the Princess Doll Frame
Note: There is about a 1/3 chance that you will get the endless tonic, so there’s some luck involved! However don’t worry, if you do not get the endless tonic, your frame will still be there, it will return to you in the Wintersday gift that you get from the Mystic Forge on failed attempts.
Hmmm this seems fishy. Sounds like someone trying to seed the market, call me a pessimist though. I think I’ll pass.
It took me 5 tries to get the princess and 3 for ventari (no soldier for me but he can be my princess pet). It works as advertised here.
Totally agree with you guys, I like to collect minis, especially special ones; I missed the Lost Shore minis, but I know they could be obtained by other ways, that I can earn them by earning gold in game or buy gems to trade on TP.
Yeah… The glaring hole in my “Mini Pets (Special)” tab from the lost shores minis drives me nuts but I just can’t afford them on the TP yet and I wasn’t lucky enough to get any during the lost shores event. Though I opened a couple dozen Consortium Chests (mostly made with the MF).
I got really lucky on these ones though. 20 chests, 3 Festive Golems, 3 Snowmen and an Infinirarium (2 festives and a snowman made my quaggan). I am stuck with a spare Snowman I’d like to sell though (maybe buy a karka with the proceeds).
The worst part is with the toy minis. We only get enough cogs to make 2 of the 5, which means if we want all 5 we have to buy the 3 we don’t make from the gem store.
The Tixx instances are live until the third when wintersday ends. That is more than plenty dailies to get all 5 minis without purchasing anything assuming drops for dailies don’t change after the event hits LA.
It’s not a “daily” it’s a first time completion reward. There has already been a Dev post saying you can make 2/5.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wintersday/Tixx-Minipets/first
I learned some valuable lessons playing games back in the 1980s.
1) If you don’t know what it’s good for, HOLD ON TO IT.
2) If you might want it, HOLD ON TO IT.
3) Never destroy or sell anything you can’t replace.
Sure I end up with a lot of useless stuff taking of space (candy powered matter meter) but if it turns out I DO want it later for some currently unknown reason, I have it.
@Mystic
That’s probably the most rational, articulate, and well reasoned post on this issue I’ve read.
Doesn’t change the fact that I’m not particularly impressed with the whole situation and wish Lyns would hurry up and restock (or at least Anet could tell us what is going on). :*(
Except when you use the same main hand or the same off hand the CDs are shared between sets.
Just buy a second Axe.
Well at least now I know why the price of ectos tanked and mithril shot up.
idk i mean, it is there until the 3rd, so even if it’s daily it will be okay, I just hope that you can go back into it after completion and do it for the chest again and get stuff from the chest instead of just 3 gifts :c
Oh, sorry I kind of misread what you were asking.
Although pertaining to farmability it strikes me a ‘survival mode’ would be highly farmable whether there is a chest or not simply because of drops. I imagine there will be a chest at the end though whether it’s of any more value than these current dungeons…
I can’t be bothered to do the current dungeons more than once though I did the Halloween dungeon a few dozen times.
Achievements:
1) Not Toying Around – Survive 50 waves of Toypocolypse.
2) Toypocolypse Cancelled – Survive the Toypocolypse without losing any Gift Dolyaks.
That indicates pretty strongly it’s not like the Halloween Dungeon.
My guess is it’s a escort and/or guard Gift Dolyaks while constantly assaulted by psychotic toys. Apparently with 50+ waves. It may be something like a ‘survival mode’ from other games.
Anyone know when it’s be up again? can an Anet staff give us some lights? i thought it will stay during the wintersday? :<
It really would be nice to know what is going on with this. It’s kind of disappointing since I’m sure when the question was originally asked about if Lyns would be around people were trying to establish whether there would be a BLKey supply available or not. The answer was one of those lovely ‘politician answers’ that’s designed to make you think what you wanted to hear was said but when the opposite happens you realize you weren’t lied to (not really) and read something that wasn’t there.
The tooltip is the only thing about entangle that is affected by anything. It’s not just condition damage that doesn’t affect it. It’s a survival skill but doesn’t get 20% reduction to its CD. Condition duration doesn’t affect it. Literally nothing matters. It is what it is and that’s all that it is.
The CD trait does affect Entangle. It goes from 150s to 120s.
You’re right, my mistake. I’m fairly certain it didn’t used to work though I honestly hadn’t checked it in a long time because I use traps and not survival utilities.
Wow, this sounds op as hell against condition builds (who are struggling enough as it is). Good think I don’t play WvW (and they better not put it in sPvP).
I doubt this would appear in sPvP because it would seriously wreck any viability of condition builds if it made it in to the meta. Condition builds aren’t a huge thing WvW I don’t think but it should still be a very useful sigil since conditions happen even if the person wasn’t specced for it (e.g. a ranger using spike trap for the immob/cripple and the bleeds are just a bonus). Would be kind of nice to laugh at someone who tries to immobilize you and just gets immobilized instead (obviously would take lucky crit timing but it can/will happen).
I imagine this will be useful for some PvE encounters though.
Edit: Kind of surprised no one seems to have much to say about this sigil one way or another.
The biggest problem I have with these Ventari and Dolls is they seem to be a continuation of a trend that started with Orr continued with the Lost Shores (Reef Drakes) and now this:
“Hard PvE content” seems to me you aren’t allowed to do anything.
Most of the ‘hard’ enemies use at least one of the following: Pulls, Knockbacks, Knockdowns, Retaliation, and Confusion. All of which have the same effect. You don’t get to do anything but die for X number of seconds.
I also happen to play a ranger which means I have no reflects, poor on-demand condition removal, and no way to strip boons. Worse still is most of the ranger’s good weapons/abilities are lots of little hits so retaliation and confusion are a nightmare.
That said I can and do manage in all areas. I soloed the Tixx dungeon when it was in the Grove (couldn’t be bothered with the Divinity’s Reach one after a group run). I just don’t like this “You don’t do anything for X seconds” approach to game play. It’s boring and the opposite of what I like about GW2, fast paced active combat.
The tooltip is the only thing about entangle that is affected by anything. It’s not just condition damage that doesn’t affect it. It’s a survival skill but doesn’t get 20% reduction to its CD (edit: I was corrected below, the trait does work). Condition duration doesn’t affect it. Literally nothing matters. It is what it is and that’s all that it is.
That said, I love Entangle for WvW.
1) It can get people up/down walls in WvW easily.
2) It can easily stop reinforcements from flooding in to a keep/tower past a zerg.
3) It WILL hit a thief in stealth and as an added bonus it tells you where the thief is.
4) It can stop up to 5 people who are being routed if your zerg is winning. People trying to run are bad at breaking out and even 1 second can get them killed by the zerg.
I do see the benefit of RaO (stability mainly since you really can’t rely on your pet to stack might on you and stacking might on your pet is questionable) but I just find Entangle more useful the majority of the time.
(edited by Unspecified.9142)
As I understand it the only way to get these right now is a rare drop from the Gifts (different sizes, different quality sigils).
Apart from the fact it’s amazing to me these exist (60% chance to TRANSFER a condition on crit every 10 seconds for the superior) I’m wondering if this will even be possible to acquire post-Wintersday?
No recipe exists that I can find so it seems the supply is finite and subject to RNG. It seems a little strange if that’s the case since they are a straight upgrade on Sigil of Purity and arguably a straight upgrade on most sigils if you’re fighting something/someone that uses conditions (Dear Thief, you sent me a 20 stack of bleeds… I don’t want it but maybe you do?).
Be patient. Patch notes usually come out ~10 minutes after the patch.
I feel like this thread needs this link: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wintersday/Captain-s-council-commendation-here-to-stay/first#post982985
Just so anyone who missed it can see exactly what was asked/answered about Lyns prior to the patch.
This really would be nice to know. I’m one of those with a few thousand commendations kicking around.
I admit it’s kind of my fault for not reading that part of the patch notes but still it’s annoying to be able to create 2,000 items with no use.
I just hope she actually has something that is worth a damn when she finishes “restocking” because if she comes back with the same stuff minus keys, for example, then no one in their right mind needs 2,000 commendations which makes the 80 trinket recipe kind of useless.
“Commendation vendor Lionguard Lyns is restocking her goods and is not accepting commendations at this time. She will begin accepting commendations again soon.”
That’s from the patch notes. At no point does it say she will be back during the Wintersday event, it just says “soon”.
The OP was referring to a forum post by a Dev PRIOR to the patch that said she would be available during Wintersday.

The Scout loadout would be hideously OP if it were put in the actual game instead of being kept to Wintersday. The #3 skill is a low CD insta-gib that requires no skill to pull off. The #6 skill + #3 skill has earned me so many easy 1 shots I feel like a HB Warrior again.
The damage could be reduced on things if needed.
I was on the phone with a friend when I first tried out these skills and all I said was “I wish they would just swap the longbow for this…”
Just the 3 minis from the random chance boxes are used for the Quaggan
One of each plus Enchanted stuffing.
It doesn’t have to be one of each. You can use 3 of the same if you want. I used 1 snowman and 2 of the lightbulb golems (names elude me right now) and it worked just fine.
I’m going to be really disappointed if she comes back without BLKs. It was really the only thing she was good for after you got 2000 commendations once.
I mean really what else is there worth spending 2k+ commendations on from her previous item list? The harvesting tools were definitely nice but they were also dirt cheap when you had 2k+ commendations.
20 in Marksman gets you Piercing Arrows but it’s really not your best option.
20 in Skirmishing gets you ground target traps. Take Spike Trap, Viper’s Nest, and Flame Trap. When you get to 30 Skirmishing take the trait that reduces CD by 20% and tag away.
Axe is a good choice for tagging at range (Tab a lot to spread it around). Greatsword is good for melee tagging and getting around quickly for those events that require guarding multiple entrances. You can also use Longbow for the 5 skill but the CD is kind of long for a many events.
Spiders are a good tagging pet because they have an AoE they use by default (if drakes worked right they would be better though). Really though your pets best use in tagging is the quickness from pet swapping (5 in beastmastery).
Sorry, I realize that wasn’t clear. You WILL get one of those weapons out of that box.
Ahh, in that case if the prices of the weapon skins normalizes you could just buy these and sell what you get if you don’t want it then buy what you do want. Should work out that 2 unwanted skins is enough to get what you do want after the TP takes its cut.
Of course that assumes one skin doesn’t skyrocket while others plummet (which is probably what will happen).
While it is really nice to see they are making an effort to improve many of the skills which are generally deemed useless I’m not particularly excited about most of this (potentially the pets and arrows hitting moving targets will make me smile).
I can’t help but wonder where the “substantial changes” are. I supposed at this rate they could claim “Substantial Changes” occurred in another 3-4 patches.
I’m not complaining about what is here though.
It is, it will be at some time in the next 10 hours.
Edit: That doesn’t mean there’s anything we don’t already know about for rangers though. Keep expectations low and you won’t be disappointed.
Once again a total lack of respect for the playerbase. People want to prepare to log on. Guilds want to prepare. EU people do no want to wait all night. Disgusting treatment. We need a time. If it’s the same 12:00 pst fine, but tell us that.
The only people who are even remotely affected by missing the exact moment the patch goes live today are people who want to be the first on the scene to play the trading post and try and make a killing on whatever items spike or crash in price.
Everyone else could just ignore it until tomorrow when the first Tixx event actually happens which will happen on time. The patch is today to make sure tomorrow (when it matters) is on time.
Just because some people got it in their head that today was the day Wintersday starts and it starts at 10am PST doesn’t mean Anet is ‘late’. If you don’t want to wait all night, go to sleep and enjoy it tomorrow when the real events start.
The “reroll a thief” mentality amuses me. I have an 80 thief I just finished 100% map completion on last night and in my time as a thief I noticed a few things:
1) If I’m underwater, I wish I was on my ranger.
2) In any sustained fight, I wish I was on my ranger.
3) In any fight with large groups of enemies, I wish I was on my ranger.
4) When trying to kite, I wish I was on my ranger.
5) When trying to solo a melee champion (ranged just aren’t practical to solo most of the time), I wish I was on my ranger.
6) Running around the world killing enemies, I wish I was on my ranger because I could just pull everything and kill it all at once without fear of dying or having to drag on the fight forever while I wait on initiative to come back or killing things one at a time.
7) When trying to solo a supply camp in WvW, I wish I was on my ranger.
Truth be told unless I was trying to destroy a single target of medium strength (veteran or players generally), or just rushing map completion without fighting, my ranger does it better. I admit it might be in part gear differences and/or my particular thief build but I don’t believe so.
Edit: Didn’t/Don’t generally do dungeons or sPvP so might be different there.
(edited by Unspecified.9142)
All this “things don’t magically change at 80” is right. Although you might try different weapon sets and see how you feel.
It’s also worth noting that for many professions things do ‘magically change’ as you level but the ‘magic level’ seems to be level 40 for most (Mesmer dodge clones, rangers get ground target traps, thieves get better initiative management, etc…). If you don’t like a profession by about level 45 and you’ve played with all the weapons and different builds it’s probably time to move on (or just finish it up because high level alts are useful and/or map completion).
