Maybe this isn’t a bug at all. Maybe this IS intentional.

Hear me out. In Borderlands 1, there is a Class Mod for the Berserker. In said class mod, one of the buffs you get from it that gives you “-39% Bullet Damage Resistance”. Now you may think this REDUCES your resistance to bullets, but it actually decreses the damage bullets cause. People thought it was a bug as well, but they were told that it decreases the damage you take.

Now, totally different game, I get it, but maybe it works as intended, but the wording is just poor?

Thief easily… Thief maintaining tons of bleeds and poison can out DPS full Berserker. Slight exaggeration… but it is comparable to it, most dungeon people wont admit it though.

As a DPS Thief, i tried that… it didnt work, my autos werent hitting, i knew because they werent cycling, maybe before i ever beat it you could, i beat it pre nerf aboutvabmonth before it got changed

In addition to the above, Simin. The mechanic is a great idea, but how precise you have to be can be frustrating. Pre nerf it was nearly impossible, especially my guild, which most members dont run Berserker, which i dont care but people seem to think Berserker or fail. :P

Math aside, it’s obvious to see how it works.

Berserker adds more Power, and less Precision. So each hit will deal, on average, more damage. With Assassin, your Precision is higher, so you will crit more, but each hit will deal less damage. Just depends on if the RNG gods smile upon you when determining if you’re gonna critical hit or not

Wells are also unblockable so are corrupt boon and epidemic…

what do you mean “also unblockable”?
Necro spends 20 traint for greater marks now, so they will be unblockable.
Epidemic and Corruption boon are dodgable.

Your argument is that “Corrupt Boon” is dodgable? You do realize it is an instant cast? You have to know when they will do it, and if as a Guardian, I use Save Yourselves, that is a good indicator of when they will use it, so I do dodge right after I cast it, but that isn’t a guarantee. They can Corrupt Boon ANYTIME without me having a chance to react to it. Saying it is dodgeable is a poor argument

I think there should be less condition application.
If I have to remove all of my utilities to remove conditions, and the Poison and Burning still persist because they were first applied, what can I do about that?

I shouldn’t be condition free all of the time, of course.

And, as a bunker, I can’t really kill anything, I’m meant to hold a point. In a 1v1, nothing will really kill me, but when others show up it gets difficult.

Damage is easier to heal against than conditions anyway. Poison greatly reduces any healing I receive, but against pure DPS, there’s nothing that reduces healing :p

I’m not whining, or complaining, I just notice conditions seem a bit too…. easy to apply, compared to how easily removed they are. Say for example I am a Guardian, running Soldier runes, Pure of Voice, and Absolute Resolution, with 3 shouts, and the Purity trait, I have passive condition removal once every 10 seconds, my virtue removes 3, and 3 shouts remove up to 6. So actively, that is 9 conditions every ~30 seconds (the time it takes one of my shouts to recharge, give or take). If a ranger is auto attacking me putting up to 6 stacks of bleeds on me, I have to remove them, but he can continue to apply, causing another utility to be burned. Then, of course, he continues to fire, and I have to burn yet another cooldown. I have one left, the ranger knows this, and begins to throw his traps and change to his torch. This then causes me to have to burn my last cooldown, but, he can continue to keep applying more conditions while all of my removal is on cooldown. Why is this okay? If I’m fighting just one ranger, that’s okay it’s manageable, but what about fighting a necromancer? I can handle it for a little bit, but they cause conditions more rapidly then they can be removed.

I don’t want to hear things like “learn to play”, that doesn’t help me. Advice is appreciated =D, but I’m wanting to suggest something. Make conditions scale with armor. I was thinking along the lines of: 3,000 armor makes condition damage taken reduced by 50%. 1,500 armor would be 25% less damage. Maybe this is a bit extreme, so the numbers can be tweaked. I don’t know, I just feel like conditions are way too easy to apply, yet so difficult to remove, as they quickly tick away your health. Any advice you guys can offer for me to deal with conditions is also helpful =)

Your skills are meant for the fight at hand, if someone shows up before you can recover, that’s one thing. If your skills are on recharge after facing someone, and someone else shows up, that’s bad luck. Recharges even as low as 1 second are still, in a way, passive Initiative management. Since if you can’t expend it, it can only build.

Same goes the other way. A thief kills an ele but had to blow all its initiative. Guardian comes up and slaps him around while the thief is defenseless. Same thing…

Here is where your argument has a hole though. If a thief runs out of initiative, he’s doing something wrong =/

I know what you guys are thinking, that I’m an idiot for suggesting this due to initiative, but really, how hard is it to manage? I consider Initiative similar to energy in GW1, if you run out of it, you’re doing it wrong, plain and simple. Before anyone thinks I’m just kittening about thieves because I hate facing them, much the opposite. I’m kittening about it because I play one, and really dislike what I can do to people. I posted the screenshot only to show people that I do play thief a lot. Yes, my rank isn’t very high, my wins/loss are, while above 50%, not spectacular, but that isn’t the point.
Thieves should have a cooldown of anywhere from 1/2 to 2 seconds on their 2-5 skills on all weapons. I never understood why it has been okay to spam Heartseeker to get kills. Or spam Headshot a few times causing someone to be unable to act, while the party kills him. These are just a few examples, but I hope you can understand my point.

I’d rather this not turn into a troll thread, or a “bash the OP thread” sorta thing, just a discussion, arguing in favor of, or opposition to the topic at hand.

Shatter Build

Just loaded up my Glamour build, it’s fairly typical. CoF deals 250 – 2kittenage per Illusion on a medium target (WoC deals less per hit than CoF). Even assuming no IP in their Build (which would be stupid if they are intending to focus Confusion burst on an area) that would be 9×250=2,250, which is more than enough to appear in the damage logs assuming no IP.

Is it possible? Sure, maybe an Aegis ate some of it. But one of two situations occured.

1) You had only a moderate amount of Confusion from shattering, but not enough for CoF/Confusing Images to appear and repeatedly attacked, killing yourself. This is fine, it’s how Confusion works.

2) You received a HUGE stack of Confusion which killed you in a minimum of 5 hits. This would have necessitated enough CoF Shatters to appear on your log though.

Instead you claim you recieved a huge stack from CoF without enough damage to appear on the log, which just isn’t likely.

So, to translate your post, you’re saying the Confusion came from nothing then?

Okay, so, I did some testing with some friends regarding this thread. We tested the issue of seeing shatters in the death breakdown, because people were wondering how the Confusion was applied . If you look at the screenshot that’s here, it shows Confusing Images hitting me TWICE, so I would only have two stacks of Confusion from it. I received 11,120 damage from 13 hits from Confusion. This would be, that if my ONLY source of Confusion is from two hits of Confusing Images, each of the two stacks of Confusion hit me for ~427 damage. You guys aren’t stupid, obviously Confusion stacks cannot hit that hard in PvP, so I had to have more than two stacks at some point. It was the Shatter. The reason it is not showing in the Death Breakdown, is because the Death Breakdown only shows the 5 skills that do the most damage to you. Cry of Frustration didn’t hit me for a lot of damage (like 500-600ish), it only applied significant Confusion, which was what inflicted a lot of damage, because it’s damage is lower than any of the 5 skills in my Breakdown is why it did not appear.

I don’t understand why you guys find it so hard to comprehend that Cry of Frustration did apply the Confusion. While I agree with you all that team play is not a reason to call for a nerf, but I read his post from a different perspective than you all I guess. He isn’t doing that, never once did he ever say he was. I don’t know, there’s my $.02, I hope it helps the thread calm down a little

There’s a few reasons the logic still doesn’t hold:

i) It’s not possible to deal 30k+ confusion damage solely with CoF and not have it show up in the combat tracker above WoC (lol). That “500-600ish” damage is predicated on there only being one shatter source, while the OP was allegedly fighting three Mesmers.

ii) Confusing Images applies five stacks of confusion by the end of the channel, not one. If you were hit by the full channel twice that’d be ten confusion stacks over the course of your being alive.

I would argue that it’s not impossible the OP died to timed CoF shatters, however the lack of telltale damage in the tracker (there isn’t even evidence they were using MW) doesn’t make it terribly likely. Without a full shatter build, CoF just doesn’t apply a lot of confusion to begin with.

The damage from the Confusion applied by Cry of Frustration does not count towards damage by Cry of Frustration. If three mesmers used Cry of Frustration at the same time, it would hit for, pending each one hits for 500-600 damage like in my test, around 1500-1800 damage, ergo, not enough damage to show up in the Breakdown as the minimum is 2,169.

The rainbow is still there, just faint. It now shoots a giant horse (unicorn) with a faint rainbow trailing it. I miss the much more visible rainbow

I don’t mind the unicorn… honestly I don’t. But the reason I got the Dreamer was for the long rainbow stream it shot. If you keep the unicorn, great, but at least put the rainbow effect back on

Edit: I guess I should mention the effect is there, it’s just more faint. I don’t like it, I like the full rainbow effect.
