more deadly than any that walks this earth. Put aside the Ranger.
Become who you were born to be. I give hope to men. I keep none for myself.
Please keep on topic guys.
Yeah, sorry.
Yes, that would have made sense, but they needed to fluff up the teasers to cover for the fact that there really wasn’t much actual content in the January/February patches. They needed to preserve the illusion that they were updating and adding content monthly.
Actually, we’ve been adding a lot of content each month of 2013 but most of it hasn’t been related to the Living Story. That’s because the Living World teams were ramping up design and development while other teams were completing their projects. Here’s what we’ve released in the past two months.
January update contents: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Game-Update-Notes-January-28-2013/first#post1321870
- Flame & Frost teaser events/NPCs
- Dailies/Monthlies
- Achievement tracking UI
- Fractal reconnect
- Guesting
- Orr polish
- PvP map
- Bug fixes
- Skill balance
- Etc.
February update contents: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Game-Update-Notes-February-26-2013/first#post1639231
- Flame & Frost teaser events/NPCs (phase 2)
- Spirit Watch PvP map
- Item preview
- Guild Bounty, Guild Rush, Guild Trek, etc.
- Bug fixes
- Skill balance
- Etc.
In short, January and February were teaser months for the Living Story. March and April will have much more story content. As always, we appreciate your patience and look forward to hearing your thoughts once you’ve had a chance to play the new stuff.
You look forward to hearing WHAT !? There is a 2000 thread about guild missions being crap and you don’t even respond to that. Do you seriously believe anyone still takes you seriously? The few Reds that I’m believe in are on the Dungeons and Support teams + John Smith, love that guy.
Other than that thanks for at least talking to the community, you’re one of the few that actually do that. The January patch was my favorite patch up till now.
…
It’s rather discussion so about 1000 of those posts say that the guild missions aren’t so bad or even say that their great – including me (it got my guild finally working together and meet more often – it’s a really great experience and i’m looking forward to checkout other types of this content).
Largely untrue, the majority of the posts are about Bounties being lackluster or plain bad, please go read the topic again.
Living story has been nothing so far, still waiting for the March update but I’m not very positive about it.

From a forbes interview with Isaiah Cartwright: “As we were looking at the play patterns of players, we noticed they were getting through the last step of progression in our game faster than we wanted them to. That would lead them to run out of things to accomplish. We didn’t want to get into a gear-grind scenario, so what we did was add a new tier rarity called “Ascended items.” We wanted to add a step in there to insure that people had a lot to do.”
Anet are fooling themselves on the no grind thing.
If this is really true I think the next patch will be the last for me. I wanna be positive about ANet but I’m losing ground… Most of us seem to just afk and wait for the next chest dragon to spawn or do our dailies. When I’m working it’s up to my boss to decide if I have something to do, but when I’m doing something to relax in my free time… I cannot even remotely understand this anymore…
May the Great Ranger save us all…
…
This is effecting big guilds as well. Our small guild just merged with another medium guild, a guild I represented only for guild missions. A friend joined a big guild too. It’s the same in all guilds, people just don’t care anymore.
ANet has some great devs, the silence in this thread has nothing to do with the devs, not anymore.
(edited by Wayfinder.8452)
Rather than buffing pets as a whole, why not just give pets a boon-like effect that negates a large percentage of AoE damage?
Please read all red posts.
may i remind you, that we have yet to see if Robert has “failed” us or not…
Based on the state of the game it is safe to say he has.
He isn’t even on the class balance team. Hrouda only manages some areas in dungeons, so saying he “failed us” is just wrong. You guys should appreciate that some of the Devs actually talk to us like normal people, its very rare on these forums.
Aslo please avoid bringing StoG related posts to this thread. StoG is all about PvP while this thread is about PvE.
…
That’s funny you think ranger is so broke. That’s all I play, 1300 hours, over 200 dungeon runs, hundreds and hundreds of skill points, all on ranger. I don’t do open world and I never once farmed Cursed Shore (eww, open world). I’m a big dungeon guy. I’m also an oldschool hardcore gamer who was playing truly broken mechanics in games like D&D, Cosmic Encounter, and Magic the Gathering…all likely before you were born. I don’t know if that qualifies me to say that “I think you need to practice more and learn more about the game’s mechanics”? But that’s how I feel.
Edit: i think I have over 350 dungeon runs, I never counted, but I felt like I ran 1000 dungeons when going for the lodestones and gifts of might and magic.
While I kind of agree with you, my main concern here is that even when mastered (and yes I claim that so give me hell) rangers cannot outperform or come close enough to any of the top classes. I usually like this jack of all trades master of none style of play, but given that this game has no clear tank-spank-support roles ranger just comes short of other classes. I think this is how most people feel about it now, because mastering the class just does not feel as rewarding.

This thread is hardly any real damage control, whoever made that up has a very vague idea about the principles of dc at best.
I believe if you reread the applicable posts, you’ll find that happens to be Mr. Hrouda. He first made use of the term “damage control”.
I said his main purpose here was to serve as a relief valve and an outlet for player frustration (and in that sense it clearly worked). Those are not synonymous with “damage control”, however.
My debilitated attempt at sarcasm has failed. I tried to hint it with the PR sentence. It was a joke even if a very poor one.
Sorry
Don’t get me wrong here this was not intended as an insult, I’m just happy that a dev even if not from the balance team is addressing this issue in a serious discussion.
(edited by Wayfinder.8452)
We dont need to split the dmg really. The pets are cool, just as long as they fix the slow F2 (rather put it so the pet do it by themself initially and on recharge, and no 3 sec animation before skill hits^^) and also give the pets more focus on your target and the speed to keep it up.
Right now the pet runs around like it has some sort of delirium. We dont need the pets to dogdge, and it is actually no good for them to dodge when we do. If i avoid an attack doesnt mean i want my pet to also roll in the mud.. i want it to keep deal dmg or doing their skills!!!! So no dodge already!
To avoid instant death, or dying too fast just make sure the pets dont loose more then some 300-500 hp per blow. And also make it more rigid to conditions and immune towards agony. (The ranger already suffers from the agony, no point in giving double grief!!)To make the pet work and seem smart then just make the pets try hit from behind or from the sides. That way the shortbow can get in some bleeds hopefully. And the pets wouldnt stand constantly in the aoe from targets. Yes, this would be nice. And let the pets target your target fast and effective, unless you tell it otherwise.
If the pet dies then give us some Rampage as One boost to compensate for the lost dmg and cc! And also to make other players think twice about if they want to kill our pets or not. Right now everybody that knows the ranger kills their pets first. 3 hits and the ranger is left throwing toothpicks at them. I can almost hear them laughing..
So let us have Rampage as One if the pet is dead! Let us have 5 stacks of might, fury, stability swiftness and 5 sec of retaliation without even making it a trait! It should be mechanic. This is all that is needed, really, as far as pets goes! I dont mind doing even more to this, but this would be very good.
I play ranger as my only main character. I am level 80 ages ago and lvl 32 in pvp now and almost completed map in pve. But now i am rolling a mesmer, thief and engineer. Cause i am tired of meeting classes with superior mechanic in pvp. So to fix the pet would be a good start. But to give the ranger better core options and playability is really also needed.
This should really be the focus of the devs for next update in april already. Really.
I believe you should read the whole topic before posting. Almost everything you said has been discussed here and I’m sure you’ll be able to find the reasons why your suggestions are “broken.” The topic has shifted to pets having a unique dodge mechanic unrelated to the player long ago.
As for pet dodge and micromanaging your pet, this is the main reason I play rangers in every game. Jack of all trades with a high skill cap. While I agree this will not bring the ranger up to par given that other classes have much more reliable class features I think it’ll help when combined with pet AR and some AI improvements. Tanky pets are just broken and unfun to have in any game I’ve played.
Robert Hrouda is a true Power Ranger(PR).
This thread is hardly any real damage control, whoever made that up has a very vague idea about the principles of dc at best.

This is the problem I have with comments like this, 5 people is a party not a guild.
Destiny’s Edge disagrees.
The single most important and well-known guild in all of Tyria, consists of all of five members. Funny how ANet is doing everything they can to wreck tiny guilds like this, when they themselves are the ones who established the precedent for it.
Best post ever, thumbs up!
Quite frankly I think I’ll give up the guild missions as a whole. Our server has 2 guilds who just farm the targets so it’s pointless to contest them anyway. Hopefully something can be done about it in the future.
I’d say don’t give up hope yet.
I’ll paraphrase Robert Hrouda (dungeon designer) from his thread in the dungeon section where he said that just because they {Anet] aren’t responding doesn’t mean they aren’t reading. When they respond it tends to shift the direction of conversation, and they’d rather let us talk and just watch where it goes.
I have a little bit of faith that Anet will walk back some of the egregious nature of this beast in future updates. They took a massive shift in the style of their events from Lost Shores to Wintersday after all. I wouldn’t expect it in the March update since that has been in the pipeline already for awhile, but I would expect to see adjustments come around in April/May.
Just take stock of your own goals and see if they align with this game. I was fairly angry at yet another time gated piece of ascended gear being introduced. After I calmed down I decided that I was in GW2 for the long haul anyway – I played GW1 for 7.5 years after all – so a month here or there wasn’t going to matter by year 3. The same with guild missions, I don’t need them “RIGHT NAOW!”, because hopefully I’ll have plenty of time to fiddle around with them in years to come.
On that note: any small-medium sized guilds on Ehmry Bay recruiting? I’ve been in a guild of 1 since my friends quit in September, and it’s rather lonely…. :P
Robert Hrouda is The Dev. If more of the ANet staff was as open as he is this thread would not exist. It’s not about right now it’s about the rift in the community… Also this is not like ascended gear, this time by the time they roll out a tweak everyone who is in a big guild would have like 100 guild commendations and that is a huge heads up for members of larger guilds which just kills every average guild as it is.
Well, now I know there is at least 1 game dev that really takes talking to player seriously. O.o
Best thread ever. Pet dodge all the way.
I’ve been doing fractals with my newbie guildies who are all ~ level 40. I think Ranger was made for helping low level players get around, it has been so much fun dodging and tanking for them.
This thread is still being ignored ? Why ?
1. How can I get my hands on scripting tool for map design?
2. Why isn’t spvp part of the game made free to play?
3. When you were deciding upon primary mode for spvp… what were other modes that you took statiscs from? That would be great, or atleast a cheaper version of the client just containing the mists which later can be upgrade to gain access to pve/wvwvw
I did that kind of suggestion in beta but got an avalanche of people flameing me for being poor etc :S.
In GW1 you could buy a PvP account. The PvP account had no access to PvE but was way cheaper and had some bonus unlocks.
Warrior will fit you best.
Good dps, can go tanky and has a very good ranged set of skills for PvE DPS.
You could try Guardian, as they can run very good support builds, but from what you wanted I’d asume a more focused class is much better for you.
The story telling so far has been a joke and while the game could be called ‘goofy’ it has it has a good feeling to it. It is a very beautiful and relaxing game, but there are rarely any characters and memories that stick to you for very long. If the game provides more memorable personal experiences that foster an attachment to a specific character or place, Tyria will be a much better place. March I’m looking at you, you better not disappoint!
On a side note :
Destiny’s Edge in the game is very very different from the one in the book. Most characters in the game are very static and unlikable (furries excluded).
Ebonhawk ? Who said Ebonhawk? Best place to be in the game! This area has nostalgia for GW1. Good events, really heroic events. Saving NPCs that actually have attachments to other NPCs and events that make sense in the story of the area as a whole while not being fetch, press F to win and kill 10 rabbits. Even if static this area has character, character that killing boars in Queensdale, stomping trash and killing risen don’t provide.
(edited by Wayfinder.8452)
I loved the Zaishen, but I feel it is much too time consuming for more casual players now. Most people only play 1-2 hours a day and they would much rather play the part of the game that they love then spend so much time on dailies.
Ah memories, there were some missions and bounties that I simply skipped all the time…
First, sry for the google translate
The gem is the soul of this game (very fragile part). It greatly depends on this, that the game is successful or not. The gem is directly linked to the market. Therefore, the market is very fragile. Care must be changes in the market.
I think significant changes should be made in the market:
- Limit the number of items can be sold (5-10 selling slot, 5 is the minimum, 2 with new guild upgrade, +1-3 if you have 1-3 lvl80 character)
- Auto decrease mechanism (every 24 hours the items’ price will decrease with 1%
- Lower limit for all items
- Fix price for some item
- You can not sell, lower/higher than the average price + – 5%
- Decrase drop rate (blue, green, rare)
- Rebuild craft system: new weapons/armors/consumables with very unique visual effects, party buff-s, etc. (I have a lot of ideas about this, but it is not part of the topic.)
- New recipes (ingedients: the cheapests materials)
- Temporary new recipes in the Mystic Forge (remove 10 000 items and very cheap blue/green items )
You do realize this will only serve to bunker the game in its currenct community right ?
Decreased drop rates will only dissatisfy the casual community.
Limiting items sold on the TP is even worse. The lower number of items on the TP you might see in the moment is probably due to items being sold constantly or slow when talking about exotics given that non precursor exotics in the cheap spectrum are bought by casual players with limited gold in their pocket. It is only when items actually stop selling that we should all worry because this means the game is bleeding players and would allow easier control over item prices. A stale market is a really bad thing in any scenario.
At this point more recipes will only water down the game content even more given that it’s already flooded with a ridiculous amount of token and currency types.

I have only one question.
1.Are you looking into separating PvP and PvE skills more clearly, as you did in GW1 ?
To clarify, skills changes for PvP and very unclear for new players and maybe PvP and PvE need to be separated more clearly in terms of class balance. For instance warriors are dominant in PvE while having difficulties in PvP. That might be by design but it would be interesting to know what your future plans are.
1. Why is so much of class balance discussion (and even these States of the Game Q&As) focused around sPvP, when it is so different from and far less popular than PvE or WvW? Balance suffers in all aspects of the game due to their reticence to split more abilities along PvE/PvP lines.
2. When are the devs going to put up or shut up about eSports? It is ludicrous that eSport accessibility was given as justification for core design decisions (Conquest, no customizable UI, etc) before release, and yet they still have not implemented such basic features as custom arenas or observer mode more than six months later.
While I totally agree with the first question I kind of disagree on the second one.
One of the most popular eSports at the moment LoL still has no working Replays and it took them years to get observer mode in the game. This isn’t a major issue here.
While I am not a dedicated PvP player, my guildies (I could not convince any of my friends to play the game so I got only guildies) do PvP on a regular basis and from what I can see the major issue here is the unclear and outright bad matchmaking and ranking system.
The only thing I would call ludicrous about PvP is the lack of adequate matchmaking for such a long time. At this point the game has bled too many players for this to redeem PvP, more so that the current format cannot support competition in such a small community. The only thing I could think of that would attract casuals and PvE players to PvP at this point would be PvE rewards and maybe smaller team sizes (2v2,3v3,4v4).

I main a Ranger and use an evasion centered build, running knight’s and 30 in beast mastery. I’ve been running it since launch…
I play beastmaster classes in almost any RPG possible and while I agree that making pet will make them entirely broken I think that the problem with pet lies in them dieing to any powerful attack.
Rather then buffing pets, can you tweak some traits ?
For instance the dodge trait, you could make it so the player still gets 2 seconds of protection but gives the pet 2 seconds of aegis. This way the pet can have a mechanic close to player dodge which will allow more player control over the pet. The ranger will have to sacrifice his own dodge to protect his/her pet. It’ll be more of a strategic choice.
Another tweak could be removing the 20% reduction on pet swapping trait and just reducing it for all builds while replacing the trait with something with more flavour. This will give pets more uptime while retaining their overall “power level” without breaking them.
As for Fractals… I really think AR should just apply to your pet or at least pets should have some AR built in. You cannot avoid Agony, you cannot remove it, you cannot do anything vs it pet-wise…

Guild targets are random, MANY guilds can have the same target. The game cannot be modified to suite the needs of countless guilds so there are no guild exclusive targets.
If you are unlucky enough to have other guilds on your target it becomes rock paper scissors.
That is a terrible system. Perhaps what they need is a logging system that keeps track of which bosses have been assigned as targets and which haven’t. If all the bosses are currently assigned, you get a queue. If there are a ton of guilds though this could be a very long queue so maybe they should just instance the zones the bosses are in. That could also help them appropriately scale the bosses and ensure that all guild members got something from completion.
Actually, now that I’m thinking about it, the instancing could work really well. They could set it up like fractals except without a party. Every guild member online gets invited to join the instance when the hunt is started. Then it sends you to the first map, gives you the hint in chat and a timer. When the boss is dead, it teleports you to the next map. If you succeed, it rewards everyone, like dungeons. If you fail, well you fail. This would eliminate all competition with other guilds, allow for good and proper scaling because it would be based on how many players are in the instance, would ensure loot for everyone, and would still be out in the world to some extent.
Thoughts?
Highly unlikely given that the whole point of Guild Missions was to make people visit different zones and move the game away from instanced content such as dungeons, or at least I think so.
Still that would be a possible solution I guess.
I’m still curious how the whole guild target RNG works…
(edited by Wayfinder.8452)
I think ANet should change it so that anybody who participates in a guild mission, regardless of whether they’re part of the guild or not, gets the reward. Non-guild members just get a lesser amount of the reward (like maybe half the Commendations).
If a guild starts a Guild Bounty and other people kill the boss before they can get to him, they still earn the credit for successful completion anyway.
This cannot happen at this point.
The patch is already rollen’ and many guilds spent time and influence on these upgrades. Whatever “fix” is rolled out there will be no universaly good outcome for everyone in the end. There has always been a rift between hardcore and casual gamers, all this patch does is make it even more apparent. Whatever the story tells from now on, it can be only bitter-sweet in the end…
This content is too controversial as it is. I think it shouldn’t have been released in this state in the first place.
(edited by Wayfinder.8452)
Did mine in Fractals in about 2 runs, tons of vets and your team helps you with them.
Don’t know how I missed this thread.
The moderated response is just…
On-topic I agree with the OP in every possible way. My major problem with the game at the moment is their obvious lack of QA and internal testing. Yes they claim they test the content and they brag how good their QA is, but then how did they release such controversial content as the Guild Missions in their current state?
(edited by Wayfinder.8452)
Does this mean more than one guild can go after the same bounty? I thought the guild that activated it was the only one that could start the fight?
That can’t be. I’ve seen the little starred guys around, & you can’t interact with them (other than to say ‘hi’) How could one guild take another’s target?
Oh, what could possibly go wrong?
Guild targets are random, MANY guilds can have the same target. The game cannot be modified to suite the needs of countless guilds so there are no guild exclusive targets.
If you are unlucky enough to have other guilds on your target it becomes rock paper scissors.
They also had other issues to troubleshoot with the patch. People unable to log in at all is going to get a higher priority than unhappiness, not matter how widespread. Also, with such widespread unhappiness, the response is going to have to be discussed, and then spun through PR. I don’t expect any kind of a response until middle of the coming week at the earliest.
So very true.
(edited by Wayfinder.8452)
…
…
Why I am telling this story? Well only Anet can change the world structured around us, to help support making the world they made a good place to be or worse. It is up us (players, people) to maintain an environment, where we make it a better world then was intended.
I was the same up until now. From now on any thought of being neutral or supportive is hopelessly gone.
I’ve been a GW geek for years, but I think this was the last straw for me. Don’t get me wrong I like the game and will play it more. I’m just annoyed with the state of patches they release and the utter lack of communication with the community and no selective responses to mostly random threads is no real communication.
Anyway enough of that.
Wait.
So you activated the bounty and some other guild wiped it out before you got there and you just…got no credit or anything else and lost the mission you had running?
If so that is a brilliant setup for the whole thing. I thought the days of camping NPC spawns was over…
We were looking for the 2nd target for a few minutes and another guild announced that they killed it. We got no credit, influence and time wasted. People were asking for help in map chat, we got none.
So you lost your influence or you just have to wait for respawn?. And the guild that killed them got nothing.. they did it just to mess with you or did they have it started as well just you all are going after the same target? . sorry just really interested in what happened here and a bit confused.
I don’t really know how fast the NPC will respawn, but this is of no importance given that our time was wasted looking for it at that point. Further more the individual rewards (the ones you can use for earrings and other kitten) is give only to members who contribute to killing a target its not a guild bonus, so half the guild was kittened because we split up in squads.
About camping… I stayed on the map for a bit afterwards I was nervous and wanted to at least find the target again. 10 minutes later or so I found it, at mostly the same spot as the guild before, and guess what it was camped by another guild (only 1 member, but they were camping different spots just sitting there). I am sure spawn points are random, but what happened is just even more annoying.
(edited by Wayfinder.8452)
OK, kitten this I’ve been trying to not burst about this crap, but now that I’ve tried it…
We got the mission we had like 30 ppl on in scouting the map, guess what we discovered there were 2 other guild camping the NPC and just killed it as we got there. Very funny ANet, very funny. Think about what you are doing next time. This content is pointless as it is !
If another guild kills your bounty you should at least RESET the timer for all other guilds on the same bounty.
Thank you for the awesome content!
There isn’t even a friendly guild to guild environment anymore. Everyone want a piece of the pie and noone wants anyone else to get it. So much fun!
Well did you at least get the merits?
No.
Let me explain how Bounties work.
X Targets, X Maps.
Anyone who contributes to killing one target gets Commendations and 2 rares (weekly).
If another guild kills any of your targets your guild has to wait for the target to re-spawn and find him (again).
If another guild kills any of your targets you get no credit for the kill and the guild gets no Merits.
It’s not even beneficial at an individual reward level to hunt both targets. These Bounty missions should be renamed to Guild Gambling, ’cause this is what they are !
OK, kitten this I’ve been trying to not burst about this crap, but now that I’ve tried it…
We got the mission we had like 30 ppl on in scouting every map map and we killed the first one. Guess what we discovered there were 2 other guilds camping the 2nd NPC and just killed it as we got there. More so the people who killed the first target got rewards but the other group got nothing. Very funny ANet, very funny. Think about what you are doing next time. This content is pointless as it is !

This will get even more interesting when later mission types are unlocked.
I can imagine people complaining that only guild members can use turrets and so on during the guild siege type missions. Which is actually a good idea, but will eventually backfire too.
I’m actually happy now, we got a few new members who were kicked from one of the biggest guilds on our server because they did not represent. In the mean time there are some good guilds who just want more people to do their events so they don’t demand that you represent them 24/7, but those are very rare.
(edited by Wayfinder.8452)
If you feel like discussing this issue please go to the official thread : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/New-guild-missions-opinions-concerns/first
There are a lot of people who agree that those missions are not rewarding for solo players and small guilds.
(edited by Wayfinder.8452)
So ANet is still silent about this kitten ? Avoiding this topic like wild fire will not fix the issue, guys come on.
I’m ok, my guildies started to PvP and WvW a lot and we lost only 2 members yesterday. Question is how long can people “pretent” guild missions don’t exist, because you know what ? You cannot even join a big guild on my server, because now they want you to represent them 24/7 or you get booted, thank god you added invisible mode to the game.
I don’t give a kittening kitten about the kittening pink earrings, but seeing the rift in the community is starting to feel annoying. I’m starting to think that if there were no new ascended items in this patch it would have been for the better… Please, stop assuming that casuals and hardcores can work together, that does not happen in any online game.
(edited by Wayfinder.8452)
Regardless if dances are crap or not, whine threads like this are plain pointless.
This thread is as constructive as the threads about quaggan backpacks.
We all know ANet has a problem with communication. Lets discuss the features we like and dislike for the time being…
I too agree that adding more in-game currencies and tokens is ridiculous, but it’s now as dramatic as people make it sound. The problem is that it’s not intuitive and as the OP said it’s hard on new and casual players.
Nicholas was the Daily of GW1. I rather liked hit, it was like getting 5 RNG Lion chests for some random effort. It was a good twist over all, but nothing overly impressive.
Zaishen Missions were the Dailies of GW1, Nicholas was a “Weekly”
My bad.
I didn’t really do all of them, there were missions and bounties that I hated in general.
Ascended Earring – 40 laurels and 50 ecto each or 12 Guild Mission tokens and 5g
3 New types of ascended stat combos – Knight’s, Knight’s with Precision > T/P and 1 more that I cannot remember
Some new Armor set boxes you can craft – full set of type X armor, nothing new here
Some Guild Exclusice Items – Again you need Mission tokens, but nothing game breaking
I too agree that adding more in-game currencies and tokens is ridiculous, but it’s now as dramatic as people make it sound. The problem is that it’s not intuitive and as the OP said it’s hard on new and casual players.

This community never stops to amuse me, when i argued for AR and MF gear check (for High lvl fotm) i was called elitist this, elitist that. Now when they introduce yet another thing that separates community and it’s clearly some raid clone, same guys just shout:“Join big guilds, pay if in small and so on.” Fanboys are so easily manipulated.
Your statement is entirely wrong. While FotM provides higher rewards at higher levels any play can level up to 10 and get an ascended ring of his choice in a 10 days period with some chance of getting random rings. What we are talking about here is the fact that you have to pay 30 days + 50 ecto (which is really a joke given that the ecto prices are kittenedly low now). It’s all about the time period for getting BiS earrings.
I am not talking just about small guilds… 6 weekly’s for 1 earring ? Really ?
30 days is infact only ~4 weeks so small guilds have the upper hand here until big guilds unlock more content.
Quite frankly the more I read about this crap and think about it the more hilarious it is given the minimal stat boost those items give you. For me it’s a matter of restricting guild content, if they allowed small guilds to do rank 1 Bounty runs with lesser rewards (lets say only 1 token per weekly) maybe this thread would be at least 5 times smaller. We all know people will always whine about everything anyway.
Excellent change. Now the people with ten toons on their account can log each one at a boss spawn point as before, and log into whatever one is next in line for a boss chest, and be guaranteed at least one rare per toon per day. You can get a reward from a dragon by hitting it a couple of times without any armor and holding one weapon:-)
I gave up on dragon killing after 20 attempts as the best I would ever get was blues and greens.
If I could be bothered to log into the game any more I’d plant 5-6 toons next to boss spawn points.
and the difference with cof 1 is?
Oh well you can also “play” on the market without even traits and weapons…..and its even more profitable….Open pve now is rewardin g almost as dungeons.
While fractals remain the least profitable activity….
I am actually enjoying fractals quite a lot ever since I made ~100g in a week by exploiting the TP. Now I can enjoy the game rather than rly grind, all I need are 4 more Prestines for my alt then I’ll switch from doing lvl 20 dailies to whatever lvl with guildies, because they all love doing fractals which makes me warm and fuzzy inside.
L2manage a guild nubs and you won’t those annoyances, that simple. I am in a big guild my self by random chance and if anyone becomes of those annoyances they get removed. They just rather have someone do the work for them and have it done asap, please..
I am glad you found your place in life by working this game.
I wish you the best in your future career.
I totally disagree with you on this one.
GW1 simply did not have official forums and most players did not read guru at all even in good years.
GW1 had AI companions to fill the gaps for casual players and make more areas of the game available for everyone. So the community was fractured but overall had access to a wide variety of rewarding content. What’s more Hard Mode allowed players to play the game to their liking without stopping access to most of the in-game content. Also please don’t bring up the fact that HM was introduced some years later, this is no excuse for any developer. The standards of the last decade were very different.
GW1 has a very simple loot and leveling system with very distinct prestige items.
GW2 has official forums so there is more actual feedback coming in.
GW2 tries to put hardcores and casuals in the same basket while telling them that they can play their own game.
GW2 has a horrible loot system, given that every casual can go get a flaming sword, armor whatever and look cool, which I am sure was not intended but due to the broken nature of dungeons at launch is how it turned out. HA and UW provided very distinct rewards and /rank was truely a measure of skill or time invested. Now that the prestige factor in loot visuals has been lost they are trying to introduce a numerical factor which is exactly what a large portion of the community tried to avoid by investing money in this game.
Was GW1 as good as people make it look ? Hell No.
But GW1 did not try to force both player types together in the same content.
What’s more GW1 had a good way to measure prestige, while GW2 is horrible at it… I don’t run DPS gear, but I got a nice text file with all the codes I need to paste in game chat so I can go with any dungeon group, funny how ppl dont event realize I’m not running a DPS build at all. Any notion of prestige in this game is a joke and the Damage Control that this patch was will not fix that.

They said they will add more with the march update.
Man the cannons !
Althea and Prince Rurik.
Exactly.

As it is I don’t think new classes should be considered given the current Rift the community is experiencing in terms of class viability. If we get new ones tho, I hope we get Dervishes back. I mained a Dervish for many years and I’ll be quite happy to see any not totally cliche weapon type used in-game.
Tengu is probably our best bet by far for a new race.
1. Tengu
2. Mursaat
3. Skritt – I like em !
There is still lots of RP on TC, it’s just mostly kept out of high-population areas to avoid trolling and overflow. Divinity’s Reach is by far the most popular RP spot; for pickup RP try the Rurikton district, the Ossan district (especially the big unnamed bar which players refer to as the Golden Sun), and the Busted Flagon in the Western Commons. People also occasionally roleplay in hub cities like the Grove and out on world maps. The Queensdale hunting lodge is another popular spot that comes to mind. Personally my guild roleplays a lot in Ebonhawke.
You can check http://guildwars2roleplayers.com/ to find some of the other places RPers like to hang out.
I thought I was like well the only one really RPing on my server. I never saw anyone do it… I’m not hardcore about I just relax doing it.. That link… I got 1 more reason to keep playing now, I’m just sad that RPing in EU is kinda dead. I was in this server last night, around 8 pm, me and 3 other players 4 manned Behemoth it was pretty awesome!
All my casual guildies who play 1-2 hours a day love this change. It’s only fair that casual player can get the minimum amount of daily farm. Stop whining about this, if you are so hardcore go do guild missions or 30+ FotM. Just leave my guildies alone ! We are already bleeding enough casuals as it is.
We all know you can get way more by farming CoF p1 and Fractals and whatever else.
On the other hand I do agree chests should be 1 per account.

Prestige ?
You mean those players wearing full set of CoF armor and weapons ?
Those calling anyone who doesn’t run a full rampagers set and dies 1-2 times at path 1 a noob ?
jk aside
There is no prestige involved in doing any dungeon in the game as it is because any content is iffy at best given that once we learn to do it, it is changed so we have to learn it again. There are instances where it is a much needed tweak like the invisibility items, the branch in TA and so on. As it is there is nothing prestigious in this game other than organized WvW castle raids and now top tier Guild Missions where there is clutch play involved. Even PvP is not prestigious given the stale nature of class balance across the game.
Dungeon Master in GW1 was like… wooow that dude that dungeon, no he did all of them, on hard mode !? Prestige back in the day was about seeing item X used by character with title Z, it was all about visual stuff.
I like the dungeons, they are fun to do from time to time and this is all I could ask for, but I miss hard mode a lot! I am not a hardcore player but I like challenges and that for me is when you have to think rather than to know.

You have 5 people.
1 on each button.
1 protecting each person on the button.
1 on the door.
It’s a sad day when people complain that something is too hard because they have to do it legitimately now. Whatever happened to playing games for challenge instead of for mindless farming?
Preach it brother.
Add me in-game, I would like to play normally for a change !
pretty sure in the last interview it was mentioned nothing was being worked on or planned with the Guild UI atm.
Wrong, the live stream last night (CET time) was a very different story.
Infact they stated that they will be working on the Guild UI for a bit before relocating staff to PvE content.
I say this all the time the story telling this game is horrible that’s about it. The gameplay is so friggen good and addictive and maybe that’s why most of us are playing the game.
I’ve got nothing against pink backpacks and the like, it’s good money for ANet and the game already has a ton of pink dudes running around. If the community buys them and I see a lot of people around me using them then sure go ahead, people spend more money on even less trivial virtual crap in richer countries anyway.
I live in the poorest country in Europe, wanna know how I payed for this game and some gems ?
I sold virtual boots on the UK AH in Debillo 3 for 5-30 each pair. Yeap, people bought them. So I’d rather you buy those backpacks too!
You know what ? Thank you for nerfing those foods, 99.99% of all players I see run some DPS build and used to abuse those foods.
I’m sorry guys but DPS being the only viable build is just kitten I run a Knight’s Tanky build and also play a melee mesmer, so this effects me too but I think it’s for the better of the game. Sigils and on crit effect in general were a bad idea to begin with. You cannot give that much freedom to DPS builds while neglecting everything else.
It was an exploit. Now these players will have to l2p. Sound familiar?
