Yes! More people would buy dyes if they were account bound. I don’t think the dye market will be affected in a negative way at all. It’ll probably increase the demand for more dye supply.
All these horrible rumors about arah paths being difficult is funny. All the bosses are fun to deal with except probably Gigantus Lupicus. A few attempts should be more than enough to beat all the other bosses except Lupi. Path 1, 2, and 3, you do not have to worry about any of the bosses. Someone that has done them before could easily explain how to defeat them.
The only videos you should probably watch before doing Arah is the Lupi fight to know the mechanics. Path 4 too, because there are a lot of unique fights that would make it easier to just know it ahead of time. Mainly just the melandru and dwayna encounter.
If you can beat Lupi, just join p1, 2, and 3. The skips that people keep saying are hard, it’s really not. It’s not harder than drok’s run in gw1.
I don’t pvp often, but I was just playing the pve part of the game until I got around to doing pvp. It’s not like it matters if they stayed in the game anyway, so why not just leave it in there for people that want to get them all. It’s also a good indicator to show if people play pvp often too. Good or bad, at least they spend a lot of time in pvp to achieve those. Or related to pvp.
I think the dredge fractal would do fine if they removed respawning dredges in the 2 buttons/control room in the beginning. The clown car need to half the amount of dredges.
Try Dredge Fractal 30+
What’s so hard about them?
That fractal is just plain time consuming. Definately pug unfriendly and more so if they are casuals that don’t have alts for the 2 buttons and control part. The dredge fractal is the worst fractal instance in the game.
The dredge fractal is the worst one in the game. It can increase your run time insanely if you have people without thief alts. I don’t know how the pipe was considered an exploit if they were put there, because players can’t put stuff into the game.
Just gotta say the dredge fractal time is = to the other 2 previous fractal you did + the boss you’ll be doing.
From the looks of it the item rewards got better though.
I did fractal 30, 31 and 32 now and got 2 ascended boxes, 3 exotics and a few rares.
I wonder what 50 gives now
o.O That’s really lucky. What’s your magic find at? I’m at 135%.
I think the new fractal bosses are fun, but the rewards to me seem 1-2 rares better. I really thought the gold would be a little better than 1.3ish g for completing a level 30. My group got urban, cliffside, asuran reactor, and the Mai boss. It feels like the difficulty was similar to the old fractal, probably a little easier because of some changes. The length is definately longer than the old fractal.
Fractal is fun for the challenge, but if the reward is lacking, people (like me) would rather do a less time consuming dungeon path to get the reward + tokens. I don’t even need the tokens, but I know it’ll be useful. Pristine relics on the other hand, I know no other use for them beside “non-infused” rings (which all the fractal lovers know are junk).
I really wanted the gold reward to be similar to dungeon paths because fractal instances are longer than dungeon paths. One AC path is worth 1.76g compared to 1.3ish g for a level 30 daily. AC (other easy paths) time < level 30 fractal time. It’s a no brainer what people would choose to do. After this story is over, fractal’ll just be dead as it was before. I really wanted fractals to be worth the effort. I feel like it’s not there. Hopefully in the future it will be.
I only want this because there are so many dyes out there to collect.
Since fractal became account bound, I think we should have dungeon story be account bound too. The rewards are already account bound, so we might as well make the entrance for the exploration account bound. It’s not like we’ll gain anything from this, but timed saved from doing repeated story dungeons.

Please make dyes account bound.
You should probably report that in the game bug forum. Not being able to level up sucks…
I find them fun. I rather have more skill bosses than a non moving jade maw to throw crystals at. Only downside is that we have to pay attention instead of standing in a safe zone. Oh well.
What do you think about dredge button “fix”? For those who don’t already know: if you die on buttons you will be moved from them. So…..no more useless dying! YAY!
I mean, it’s obviously a NICE change. You can play the way it’s meant to be played. Right?
And what is this way exactly? 5 Thiefs? Guardians? Again?Anyways I’m REALLY looking forward to this fractal on higher levels with pugs and some nice mistlock instabilites. It will be a joy as always.
Wow… that’s a slap in the face for people that only pug fractals… This just shows how much anet loves heavies classes. So much for that balance.
This is so funny, this fractal update will eventually die out once people finish the living story achievements. Who wants to spend more time on more difficult fractal dungeons compared to 10-15 minutes dungeon paths? Heck, it’s more worthwhile to do an arah path for tokens and gold than to spend all that time in fractal.
Pristine relics are garbage and it’ll take a lot of runs just to increase your agony resist with the new slot, not to mention all that gold you’ll be using to upgrade them from 1, than 2, than 3… basically, you’re getting nothing for doing fractals like before.
The arah paths are easy to do. All you need to know is the Lupi fight. Watching a video of the fight is best, because going into that fight without knowing it will be the end of you. Once you know the mechanics all the other bosses are easy to learn on your first encounter. Except path 4, I haven’t done that one yet, so I can’t say for sure.
All these ascended materials and essences should be available with Pristine Fractal Relics.
That would be nice to have also. Put dragonite ores in the reward for fractal and make ascended material tradable with Pristine fractal relics.
I like the idea about trading ascended mats for other kinds.
Bloodstone dust = nobody needs these, champion bags everywhere. This is the last item people worry about at all.
Empyreal fragments = you can get these anytime you want by doing dungeons. Jumping puzzles and wvw drop of these are a joke.
Dragonite ores = depending on your server, you either get a lot of these or barely any. Only temples, dragon minions and golem mark is worth doing for these. Most of the time you get these after reset, then there’re dead hours where none of these bosses are even touched.
Champion farming people get a bunch of bloodstone dusts.
Dungeon players get empyreal fragments and bloodstone dusts.
World bosses farmers get dragonite ores and bloodstone dusts.
If we had dragonite ores instead of empyreal fragments in fractals reward, I think more people would continue to do fractal. What do you guys think?
I can’t join any groups, this is annoying.
What’s with this new delay group joining? This sucks. Having to relog doesn’t fix this either.
This never happened before, it only started happening after that server problem with parties for dungeons after the patch.
And yes, I did hit the refresh button.
After forming a party, sometimes it’s impossible to post another to find more people. Once the party is full, it prevents you from posting again when someone leaves. It also doesn’t let me join parties sometimes too when I sign on. I can see groups looking for people but I can’t join.
Or have you constantly afflicted (level3 permanently) with a condition that randomly blinds your screen so you cant see where youre running, or randomly afflicts you with fear which has you running over an edge or catwalk or into Spore mines. Fun!
I find the healing skill for the toxin is useless. Doesn’t heal enough to save you and the condition comes back instantly in floor level 3. 25 skills points for a useless skill.
I’m tried of all these infinite knockdown mechanics that you can do nothing about. Having two stunbrekaers doens’t help if a mob spams knockdowns. During the 3-4 seconds that you can’t do anything you’re dead from damage and insane bleeding conditions. Getting spammed knockdowns is annoying. There are places in other dungeons where this gets out of hand.
counter it with stability no problems then
Wish my necromancer or the few other professions could use stability.
They aggroed while walking on the edge. After that, they just stubbornly refuse to respawn or deaggro from the infinite ascalon humans before the gate. Wiping doesn’t reset them either.
I said “wipe with the party”, how is that not a full wipe?
I’m not sure if this is a bug or intended, but the npcs don’t respawn after a wipe with the party. Fighting all these veterans withouts npcs was not intended for this fractal. AND the skill bug is still here, you can’t change skills. Another bug where you can’t use skills until you die or revive again is happening more frequently too.
So basically you’re saying to not use a weapon a profession has if you can’t handle taking damage for no reason? I have all 8 professions level 80. The only reason why I don’t use the ranger all that much is the sword autoattack is anger inducing. Getting downed because you’re trying to dodge but you can’t due to that horrible 2 seconds of leap attack. Not to mention you are stuck in that position too.
I sort of see why people use bows, swords require a deal MORE effort.
So it’s more mummy content. I’m glad I’m sitting this one out so far.
The content is actually pretty fun. It’s just the over abused cc the monsters have once you mess up dodging. I say a group of 2 party members should be more than enough to reach the top of the tower. Going solo only works if you have another party to move with.
Floor one and two can be done solo, but once you reach floor three it’s not. You need people to move along with you to run and stop at each turret cleaner along the way to clear the monsters. Going solo for floor three is asking to be spammed cc on you until you run out of stunbreakers and end up dying.
why is the ranger’s sword autoattacking so annoying to use? Can’t really move while he leap attacks. No other professions has this kind of autoattack that makes them so vulnerable. For a game that is based on movement to survive, sword autoattacks cause more problems.

Seem like I can’t get the options for whispering/inviting/etc. for someone on my friend’s list or guild menu. The only option I see is /report.
Updated the information on the HoM weapon skins that don’t have the icons transmute along.
So I found out if you preview the items, the icons will show if it’ll transmute along with the weapon you want. The ones that don’t are bugged.
Dunno what’s so hard about p1 skipping. I find deadeyes in p2 much more annoying.
A bit of advice on p1 run: either run first or wait until everyone ran through, then make you way. Because otherwise oozes can hit you while trying to hit the guy running in front of you. Running first makes a lot of skipping much easier.
That’s good to know.
I don’t get why sanctum sprint starts you who knows where when you enter late just to get no reward at the end. I rather start at the beginning than somewhere in the middle for nothing. Please get rid of the timer that kicks you after finishing the race too. I’ll prefer to alt tab than staring at the screen for 3 minutes without fearing being kicked for finishing too early.
Yeah, I’ll just join a group with someone knowing the path. Bosses should be easy to figure out.
It’s more fun doing things without knowing ;p
I have all the professions geared and level 80. Thanks for the info, I’ll wing those paths too.
Okay, so I did arah p2 and p3 for the first time today. It’s easier than it looks. The GL fight was pretty fun. The group use range to kill it. I know melee is faster but it just happens the two groups wanted to range. Probably worked out for the best anyway since I didn’t know what’s up. xD
So is p1 and p4 easy too?
Anyone wanna give me some pointers on 11k hp thief or ele? I can boss just fine when I know where the attacks are coming from. Having trouble with trash runs and bosses with ads like end boss of SE p3 or some other place when it’s time to stack.
For the SE p3 boss, you’ll probably taking too much damage from the fire aoe. For the thief, I’ll say to just watch out for that while you dps, dodge out of it and jump back onto the boss when it’s gone. For the ele, switching to water attunement then back to another attunement should be enough. You’re probably either using a lightning hammer/fiery great sword so just leave yourself on water attunement, it benefits the party too. A simple dodge on the fire aoe will save you.
Yes I would play thief over any other class.
It’s always good to play your main. It’s also good to experiment with other professions too.
To my knowledge the only boss that can be dazed/stunned forever is Bjarl still thieves can use pistol whip or 4 with off hand pistol to cut down those defiant stacks to help prevent a boss from wiping a team…
What do you mean too many skill slots? Smoke screen has 3 uses blindness projectile block and stealth if you say blindness isn’t any good then there really is no point carrying this conversation on.
I didn’t even say anything bad about blindness.
Anyway, lets assume you have all professions level 80, would you use a thief over any other for a dungeon run?
My thief has boon stealing, blind fields, blast finishers, a pull, projectile block, party might, fury, and swiftness; and multiple dazes and stuns, all in addition to a heavy damage output. Saying that thief lacks utility outside of stealth just means that you don’t have enough knowledge of the class to know otherwise.
As for your other argument, nobody is going to learn how to properly gear a ranger or necro by rerolling to a guardian or warrior. Sure, it might be a little rough starting out, but telling them to play another class isn’t going to help that at all.
You can’t daze/stun a boss forever, so that doesn’t matter. You don’t need swiftness in a boss fight. Thieves are not the best for giving might stacks, imo, too many skills slots. I’ll agree about the fury, but blast finishers are nothing without the right combo field (it’s all about the fire field!).
Thieves bring amazing DPS if you think they are too squishy you don’t know how to dodge.
I didn’t say thieves do bad dps, other professions just have more utlities that could deal with more situations.
Thieves bring amazing DPS if you think they are too squishy you don’t know how to dodge.
This. Also ranger has one of the best reflect skills in the game and can deal plenty of damage outside of 1h sword if played properly. And a properly equipped power necro can stack vuln really well and do some pretty good damage alongside it.
So basically, long story short, you can excel with any class when played properly. The problem isn’t the classes themselves, but rather the number of effective builds available to them, which, for many of them, is very few.
For rangers, I said sword set. Besides, beginners will not look good in a pug dungeon group if they have their bow with their bears. Better to pick the easy to accept professions. ex: warriors/guardians
Necromancers take more effort and like you said “geared properly”. Beginners roll with what they got, they don’t have the tokens/gold to get that stuff (I’m assuming they’re super new to dungeons).
Okay so if you’re new to dungeons here are a few things to know.
What dungeon paths to run:
ac 1, 3
cof 1, 2 (easy)
ta up, forward
hotw 1, 2, 3 (easy)
se 1, 3 (easy)
cm 1, 3
coe 1, 2 ,3
Dungeons paths to avoid:
cof 3 – too long and troublesome.
ta aether path – too much effort for rewards not worth mentioning.
se 2 – takes too long.
cm 2 – heard the barrels don’t work anymore, don’t bother trying to kill the last boss, the boss hits are good enough to be called one hitters.
arah – not for beginners to dungeons, get more experience before joining these groups.
What profession to bring:
Warrior – good dps and has banners.
Guardian – probably has the best utilities in the game, reflections and aegis.
Mesmer – reflections and timewarp.
Thief – stealth (if you don’t need stealth, don’t use, they’re too squishy).
Elementalist – might stack and has a good passive heal.
Necromancer – No team benefits, use another profession (and yes… my main is a necromancer… sadly).
Engineer – grenades for vulnerability stacks, has reflection, but dps is horrible. Use another profession.
Ranger – use spotter trait and frost spirit with a sword set, otherwise you’re useless. Leave the bows and your bears outside of dungeons.
Tips:
-Someone mention it on the comments I felt was good advice. Always bring extra weapons to swap in dungeons. Some weapons are better for certain bosses than others.
-Learn what combo fields and combo finishers your profession is capable of.
-If you join a dungeon path for the first time, if a party member ask for you to bring certain utility skills, just do it.
-Never go leeroy jenkins, don’t pull mobs until you know the path.
-If the party wants to stack to kill a boss, don’t be shy and stack with them. It’s like playing sardines.
-If you have no idea what your party is doing during the path, just ask them.
-If you see your party skipping mobs, take a second to bring your stun breakers.
important Don’t get lost following your party, high chance of receiving the kick.
