I agree. I spent money on the trio pack (x2) and I will gladly buy the winterdays minipets if gambling wasn’t involved. After all, they are account bound, why would I spend 100+ USD and in the end maybe not get them all?

They figured since the only way to obtain it was via the Gem Store that it should have an account bound property, so that you wouldn’t be able to rake in gold from the Trading Post, I guess.

Not exactly their best decision since the thing that would draw in the most gold from that RNG box is indeed tradable (the perma contracts).

If they do a Foostivoo type of thing again the best solution is the Halloween one. Sell it as a bundle. They really need to understand that. I was hoping that after the drama that was Halloween they would have done the event stuff in a way that didn’t annoy one type of collector.

It seems though based on the interview before Tixx hit Lion’s Arch that the commerce team isn’t sure what would bring them the best revenue while pleasing everyone.

Strongly agree, If they did what they did with Halloween at the start there would be little to no problems (besides those hippies who do occupy LA over the thought of using gems) Hopefully they will learn and implement this for future events.

Probably would have been nice if they added them as an alternative currency to ugly clothing. (hear me out)
Even if you played the system legit and got the two or three minis (three if you capitalized off this mayhem) you would end up with anywhere between 50-150 cogs left. Maybe a conversion ratio of 25 cogs per 50 Ugly Clothing o.O Wouldn’t really be that game breaking either in essence. Just a random idea

I have a post somewhere on it with the exact number but i believe off the top of my head it was 20 and I had a ton of left over minis that i used for testing

since then probably 80-90
most of those i just tossed in the forge to make other minis and sold em off for quick gold / lots of silver

Most of the people that I know purchased the trio pack twice but none of them bought the chest this event just because it’s gambling. Adding a trio pack for the winterdays minipets isn’t that hard and anet would make more money + make the players happy. This is the first time that I lost fate in anet. I mean, they want you to spend 100+ USD to get accountbound miniets…

How would that make more people happy, a lot of people I know already have the trio or already bought a ton of boxes for the wintersday quag. Adding a cheaper 100% guarantee would just kitten them off.

Ya anet will make more money but they sure as hell would be getting flamed way beyond imagination by those who played their system legit and fairly. Quit asking for hand outs when everyone else played the game legit. Only logical change they can make now is to make the minis sellable. But even then that would cheapen them and then you kids will cry that people have a monopoly on them.

Waiting to the last couple of weeks to adding the trio to the gemstore is political and social suicide, might as well kitten the gun and hand it to anet if they add it. First week, sure that would be awesome but its to little to late.

I did some research on this on the first day and your best 100% chance with out any hiccups and errors is to do:

One of each + 50 stuffings

If you combine 4 random or 4 same you get a random mini: Example
Snowman + snowman + snowman + snowman = polar bear or imp or another random

Snowman +golem + snowman + infintarium = random mini

Putting the container in after the event has kicked off is only going to cause backlash.

That is a lousy attitude to have, I’ve spent plenty of money to obtain these mini-pets and if they added a mini-pet trio I would be pleased. There is something wrong with this system for acquiring these mini-pets and if they fix it I don’t think anyone should complain. It would just mean that you won’t have to shell out 75$ on mini-pets for the next event.

I think he meant that those users who spent $70-100 USD to get them the legit way would be kitten the fk off because some one who didn’t invest anything or barely anything would get them for about $10-$20 with 100% guarantee. If that is the case then i am 100% on his side.

Further note, if the trio is added to the gem store I demand a full refund on gems and gold spent after the value spent on said minis has been deducted from the refund cost. After all it would only be “fair” as these kids like to say.

Woah, I just got another present via mail, another PvE bag, a PvP bag, A 15 slot gift again (yeah!) 250(!) cogs plus skins and some other stuff.
I just don’t have any frame left. xD
Guess I’ll keep them for next year, might be able to have all minis by then. ^^

Clarification would be nice, the English language isn’t a clean cut language, the words being used are a little disingenuous for every event. Not asking for more information, just basically saying take your time and actually re-read what you type up and see if anything can be taken out of context or may be a little to vague for players who never played GW1 and aren’t use to your system.

You only need 1 Snowman + 1 Festive Golem + 1 Infinitariam + 50 Stuffings for the Baby Christmas Quaggan

Stuffing is available btw, i have 2 screenshots up in this thread with the baby christmas quaggan out. Stuffing = a drop from presents

Also just to Clarify I bought 4 sets of 10 boxes (40 boxes total) and got 5 mini pets.. 1 of each and 2 duplicates. You guys need to not worry. It’s the first day of an over 2 week long event. These boxes drop in the world too and the majority of the event isn’t even in the game yet.

On the same token though, the events shouldn’t be a 100% auto gimmie event. Could they be increased in drop rate, sure go for it; but I hate the concept of 100% gimmie events. Dunno, I didn’t really like the chainsaw skeleton being an instant gimmie. Removing the account bound portion sounds fair enough to me. I can’t be the only lucky sob to get multis >.<

Server time is fine, I live out in Florida (split in 2 time zones depending which part of the state i am that day) and with spending 2 seconds of basic elementary math I can find out what time everything is, OR i can spend 1 second by flipping server time on. People were able to play Guild Wars 1 and be on time for every event with out any issues (Mad King, Lisa vs Grenth, Cantha New Years)

How I have things set up:
Clock set to display on my Windows Task Bar (does not matter what O.S. they all have that feature all the way back to ’9o’s series)
Server time set in game on the map

now all i have to do is look at the bottom right of the screen and compare times

The mini globe thing would be cool for on their website or their future application, but I don’t think it would serve a real purpose in the game it’s self. The image of Pokemon Pearl and that annoying globe with hundreds of people around it come to mind x_x

Can we get a little variety with the NPCs?

Can’t have a Sylvari lead an event, look how long it took him to get ready to kill an Elderly dragon. Norns would be to busy drinking to decorate, Charr would be to busy planting bombs and war machines throughout L.A. to start a coup de tat. And Humans would make it to overly religious. Asuras are the only logical choice bookah x)

Would be nice to see:
Great Sword done as a giant Christmas Tree
Long Bow made out of Rudolph’s Antlers (arrows glow red to lead the way)
Candy Cane Staff/Scepter
Hammer that has 2 present boxes on the end and a candy cane shaft
Mace done as a snowglobe on a stick type of thing o.O not much you can really do with a mace look wise o.O
Shield that would look like a peppermint

Little kids should not be a factor… the game is rated “T” for a reason, if your kids do not meet the required age group and are playing Guild Wars 2, you may want to consider turning your self in to Child Services or the parents of the suspected children who are allowing their very young kids to play if you are that concerned about any damage to their minds.

As for violence and merry, It’s quite nice to release the shopping rage and financial burdens on ones mind in real life by taking it out on a couple of pixels. There are other events in the update that are not violent that one can participate in. To be honest though its guild WARS…. o.O the wars portion definitely doesn’t mean meet under the mistletoe and kiss for 3-4 weeks.

Guild Wars traditionally does not celebrate any religious holidays, the player base as a whole gets in a angry nerd rage when anything religious is mentioned, so to save themselves the headache they celebrate all the holidays in a Guild Wars style for the weeks called Winters Day.

As for New Years, the western version is grouped into the Wintersday event and the Eastern world is grouped into Cantha New Year; since Cantha isn’t released yet you will have to make due with Wintersday. It’s quite genius on a business model really o.o

Subscription would just kitten everyone off, demolish the faith in ANET as a company that can’t keep its word. Turn away all poor and younger players who don’t mooch of their parents or make a ton of cash. In the end its just a giant middle finger to the player base.

As a college student, $20-30 a month subscription fee would destroy me. Only logical thing I would be forced to do would be selling gold and my content to pay for the bloody subscription to play the 2-3 hours a day I have to detox from the chaotic day. Nothing says “FK You poor people” and “go screw your self” then going back on your word and catering to people who live off their mommies and daddies 100% or are the upper class irl.

Sounds like a good idea to me, I really hate the concept of soulbound gear. Account bound gear should be the only option to restrict items.

Agree on the mace….if each of those squares was instead a pointed pyrimid, and each section spun around, that might be kinda intimidating. But even still the handle looks fairly weak and too fluffy for a mace.

Needs to be more rugged and bulky / spiky for sure.

Fishing would be a very awesome idea to add to the game… I found myself in Guild Wars 1 on a few occasions bored and caught up in the beautiful oceanic animals swimming around and a desire to catch a couple ^-^ would be awesome to chill on the piers of Lions Arch and toss out a line or two while waiting for events.
