Banning Fix

in Suggestions

Posted by: Wolfey.3407

Wolfey.3407

I would like to state that I have no exact knowledge of how the ban system works exactly in terms of details so I apologize if i am suggesting an option that has been implemented already.

The main Issue I am seeing with these botters is that they are able to use multiple accounts to bypass the whole ban issue. There are a couple simple solution to this; however, I am not quite sure how Anet would feel about this.

1) When an account of any type is banned a couple of empty files are hidden on the users computer in areas that would not be suspect to look into. Upon running the GW2 exe would check to see if these files are on the computer, if so the exe will not launch and will auto close out. In the event that they are able to create a patch to bypass that, upon hitting login it will auto scan for those files and auto shutdown. This would prevent botters and bored hackers from targeting accounts to get around bans. Granted the solution would be whipping the computer clean and starting over but that would take a couple of hours then re-installing guild wars 2, at that point it becomes to much of a burden for them.

2) Comp ID/MAC Address bans, these would be an alternative option to #1 that would bare the same result. Preventing the botters/ bored hackers from using multiple accounts after having one of their accounts banned. You can still bypass this however it is a little more complex and very time consuming compared to number 1.

These type of bans would only be used for the following offenses:
1) Hacking
2) Botting
3) Multiple Short Term Bans (2-3 times in a month)

The only complaint would be: “well now my little brother/sister can’t play guild wars because we share computers”

Solution: Shouldn’t have tried to cheat, and now you can explain to your little brother/sister why they can’t play guild wars 2 on your computer if you do in fact have one.

There are other unique ban options that I love; however, they may not be great ideas legally for Anet.

Character bank security

Wolfey.3407

That would be a very nice option; however, most people would probably chose their pin number x_x … so for the sake of security it may be better to extend it to 6-8 numbers o.O

Just going off the assumption that if someone hacks your account, they know your email and password, chances are they may know some more of your private information especially if some of these users are piggy backing their bank login information with their NCSOFT master accounts or GW2 accounts.

Bottom line is, i love your idea and I think it would be a very nice implement Should also be included on the black lion trading co front screen too :o would be a nice protection to prevent users from jacking gems.

Could implement a curse system or a debuff system that would place an icon on their screen above their skills with maybe a sad face or a cracked skull.

Name: Disgrace

Description: You have abandoned your comrades to die, the God Grenth frowns down on those who desert their comrades.

Technical: The time would only tick down if the player on that character is online, so you don’t have those players who go do something else and come back half an hour later to re-play. It’s not a harsh punishment, it gives just enough of a sting to let those who do know and not know better that they shouldn’t ruin other peoples fun. When they go up to the portal, it will check to see if they have that curse or debuff (what ever you want to call it) if they have it, the Seventh Reaper pops up in front of them and tosses them away from the portal.

Gold spam with a twist

in Suggestions

Posted by: Wolfey.3407

Wolfey.3407

I’ve been getting daily gold spam email, sometimes several per day, on all of my characters. This is obviously not new, although I hope something will be done about it soon. However, one such email came with 1 copper attached. I do not want to take the copper to avoid being accused of utilizing gold spammers. On the other hand, because there is an attachment, I am not able to delete it.
Suggestions:
1. Anet, please let us delete this junk.
2. Please give us the option to disable ingame email except from NPC’s and those who we add to our friends list.

I like your idea; however, I would amend it a little to this:
A filter on the mail system that would prohibit users from sending you mail unless that person belongs in a checked category. The checked categories being:
[] Guilds
[] Friends
[] NPC’s
[] Everyone

The guilds portion is a huge benefit for guild members who wish to help other guild mates by giving them gear, items, minis, and other content. As a person in a couple of guilds I have no desire to add 200+ people to my friends list to do trades.

Friends is just a logical option.

NPC’s should probably be made a hard-scripted to prevent rage threads for not receiving anything.

Everyone would be an option that once checked would display a warning box stating that you are allowing everyone to contact you even those with malicious intent.

To prevent false complaints and bug reports, If a person sends an item to a person who is not in their Guild, Friends List or an NPC; would receive an error message from the post master stating: “Your message could not be delivered at this time, please talk to the individual to have their settings adjusted If you wish to communicate with them.”

Wolfey.3407

Precisely what the title says.

Rangers need to have the ability to use rifles/pistols.

i mean, theyre RANGErs. and, i know that the name has nothing to do with weapon preference, but my Charr ranger has issues with bowstrings—-his claws keep sawing through them.

If this gets implemented you just single handedly killed Engineer 100% =/
If this gets added every single person with an Engineer should be allowed to the following:
-Free Class Reset
-Free Race Reset
-Free Upgrades to weapons
So that those players that you just royally screwed over have a chance to play the game with a class that would essentially be better with firearms then them.

It makes no logistical sense at all. If you do not like your Charr ranger then do one of two things.

1) Make a new race as a ranger
2) Make a Charr Engineer

There is no need to trash one class to make another class O.P.

After 23 Failed attempts and maybe 2-3 6 pack later I have finally finished this quest on the first try today with little to no problems. There is one NPC i think that may be an issue or something that some people may have forgotten that could impact them as well. There is this little asura dude at the control panel who is “dead” that you need to revive. It’s not listed in the objectives or on the compass but ya… may be one of those little things that could be impacting a couple of people. Once again thank you Anet developers for your time and support now to finish the story line >:)

I completed that quest a while ago, so my memory is a little hazy, but I remember a mob getting stuck and keeping me from progressing as my allies wouldn’t move until the undead were all killed. It took a little looking around, but after a few minutes I found and killed the bugger, which unleashed my allies.

In another quest, I took the “road less traveled,” and could not complete the quest: I had navigated up a hill and, in so doing, missed a few lines of dialogue, but no encounters. At the end of the quest, the trigger to complete an event failed to fire and I was stuck in Orr with an unbearably cheery Sylvari. If you’re deviating from the obvious path, this may be contributory and noting this with as much detail as possible may very likely help ANet to track it down.

Hopefully this can help at least one person get un-stuck.

It helped a little, I tried that last night (spent about 2-3 hours killing and looking around) The npc’s would start to move then they would re-warp back to their default location and not move again.

New gametypes?

Long as we can keep the discussion ethical I have no problems
I believe the two flag variation would be awesome on a map such as foefire.
I really do not know how a 1-Flag variation would work on G.W.2. maybe placing the flag dead middle of the map and make it a sudden death variation? I love the idea about King of the Hill. That was one of my favorite modes through out the Halo series, and it could benefit a ton of players from newbies in need of kills through veterans in need of a change of pace.

Would be nice if they introduced a couple blood sports as well like a Griffball variation. Replace the swords and hammer concept with standard G.W.2. weapons and skills.

I replied to your posts simply because your counter arguments on my post were off the mark and not correct at all. I have no desire to argue with anyone at all;however, I do not feel it is correct to basically tell a person to go away because you do not like what they have to say or that you do not agree with their general ideas or concepts.
“If you’d like to discuss the possibility of paying for a map pack, I’d recommend creating a new thread.”

All of my ideas and feed back have been on topic and inline with the original and corresponding posts within your thread.

At your point of: “Apparently editing my post to mention that I think it would be nice for them to add a vote system for gametype/map to you means that I felt they needed to add more maps too? While I’d certainly welcome more maps, I would be more interested in other gametypes first, as playing the same gametype over and over can get pretty tedious. Wouldn’t you agree?”

It makes no logical sense to have a vote system for just three maps…I am sure everyone can agree to that… so there is a underlying desire to implement more maps and game types into the game. Which I agree with you on the addition of game types;however, with your clause question of : “Anybody else have any suggestions?” I took the opportunity to introduce a map pack concept to bundle our ideas and concepts. (which is still on topic if you like it or not)

I myself, would rather see both maps and game types added together to compliment each other. It would be very boring and rather cliche for a gaming company such as ANET and NCSOFT to recycle the same 3 maps over-over-over again. To be quite blunt, a couple of the current maps can NOT support C.T.F. due to the awkward mechanics and logical flaws that would be present .

Grenades only viable option in WvW/PvE?

in Engineer

Posted by: Wolfey.3407

Wolfey.3407

I really don’t believe that grenades are the most effective weapon in P.V.P./W.V.W.V.W. I use dual pistols with sigils set to 4-5% longer duration on effects depending on which map/ game mode I am playing in. Grenades are an awesome option;however, I find the usage of dual pistols to be way more effective, especially when it comes to spreading conditions.

It depends on the build you run. But in areas like keep sieges and defense they are pretty much the best option for condition and power spec’s because whether defending or attacking you either can’t get LoS or getting LoS is a death sentence. The gtaoe lets you arch over the edge or hit people on the walls you can’t reach with rifle / pistol.

Mortar is an option but it’s damage doesn’t scale, and for condition spec’s it only really has bleed for damage.

hmm… didn’t really consider those points, did they fix the arch issue? I believe it was two-three days ago If you were on top of a tall fort you couldn’t throw them far at all, straight down ya but not in distance if that made any sense. o.o

I did not state in any of my posts that you made a claim of F.P.S. being the first or the last to use this model, I was stating facts to support and back my claim as to why a map pack would be good possibility to explore. As for your off topic complaints, If you are not willing to tolerate another users input on a public forum then you really need to deactivate your account and invest into some Ethics and Public Speaking courses. It is my deepest sympathy and I truly apologize if my input has offended you in anyway. However, I would like to quote a couple things from the original post made by you that void out your argument of:
“If you’d like to discuss the possibility of paying for a map pack, I’d recommend creating a new thread. Any further input on this threads discussion would be appreciated though.”

“Anybody else have any suggestions?

Edit: If they do decide to add more gametypes, it would also be nice for them to add a map/gametype vote system at the end of each match too."

I refereed back to both of your point:
“map” & “game type” by combining them into a map pack system.

I ask that you fully read the posts and take a two-three minutes pause before responding to other writers posts, It is not good practice in any social setting to respond in anger or frustration.

I for one wouldn’t mind paying $10 U.S.D. for a P.V.P. map pack.

I would. I have no problem paying for an actual expansion when the time comes, like they did with Guild Wars 1. As far as paying for a map pack, what is this, a console FPS?

F.P.S. are not the first genre of gaming to use map packs… It has been a semi successful model in P.V.P. for other M.M.O. based games. What’s the worse thing that can come from it? You end up playing with other players who actually have a desire and care enough of the game to buy map packs. Generally speaking, a lot of complaints and idiocies in P.V.P. comes from 2 types of players: 1) Trolls (2) Newbies. With the addition of map packs you really limit both of those options. Why? Trolls are not going to waist their cash on buying extra maps if they are going to get reported, and newbies are not going to waist their cash on map packs if they aren’t sure if they will like P.V.P. or not. So in the end its a win-win-win situation A win for the players for having more maps to play on, a win for Arenanet & NCSOFT for having more cash in their pockets, and a win for semi-hardcore and hardcore P.V.P. players for not having complete newbies and trolls from interrupting/ ruining their game play.

I may get crucified for posting this… but I for one have felt that each race should have a very slight advantage to a certain race. It just seemed odd to me that the most technologically advanced race in G.W.2. is on the same level as all other races when it came to the Engineer class.
Before people freak out over the wording “slight advantage”, I mean something like:
1-3% base damage increase with a 0.5-1% casting speed
Enough to give a slight edge but not something that would be a complete game break.
Norn should not be on the same intellectual level as a Asura when it comes to Engineer, just as a Asura should not be a great of a warrior as a Norn.

It would be rather neat to see a couple more game modes added such as:

I would also love to see a few more maps in general being added. I know that most people would hate this; however, I for one wouldn’t mind paying $10 U.S.D. for a P.V.P. map pack. Maybe a map for each race? and of course the general historical sites that us G.W.1 players have come to love.

There are always going to be flaws in a game type when it comes to a game with multiple races and classes;however, every improvement starts off just as a concept. I like the idea purposed and I truly hope that the development staff for G.W.2 takes some of these ideas to heart.
