IRON cover 1 borderland each week with Coin and Havn, so the fights you are getting on the other two borderlands are Desolation guilds, be them large or small, each one counts as much as any guild on the server. It’s very rude of you too assume that IRON covers everything, apart from anything we’re not big enough and I’d be even more moody than I already am if I had to hop borders all the time to command xD

IRON don’t have ‘closed off meetings’ with ‘a few select guilds’. Everyone on Desolation knows that our TS is open for all to use, and that our weekly server meeting occurs, Yanox has done an awesme job of informing every guild be it PvE or WvW. The thing you on SFR don’t seem to grasp is that Desolation is a massive PvE server full with PvE guilds and PvX guilds.

This is fine ofc, but it does mean that it tends to be the same guilds at the weekly ‘what borderland should we be on’ meeting cause the other guilds have little or no interest in what goes on in WvW. Also, we don’t alienate our PUGs on Desolation we try to include them on every border since they are a great force, the Militia if you will, and deserve a great deal of respect.

ahahahaahahahahahahaha – Really I thought better of VCY since you don’t usually moan when you get wiped over and over but really complaining about IRON blobbing when we didn’t and about Coin who would rather fight you on their own terms. Organised guilds couldn’t get into the bl. Up to 5h queue for some ppl. You are having fun fighting the unorganised SFR blobb, that’s like fighting Viz when no known guild is around to give them some structure.

We were actually not fighting anyone, that’s why it was surprising – I figured poking your T3 Garrison would get some attention but it took another hour before a reaction came ;( Don’t get me wrong, we’d prefer to fight for things.

We do try to not ‘blob’ the guild up, reset night we actually had our two squads working independently as well as having Coin, but the sheer numbers that you guys had running together was pretty scary xD

We have been working split into two or three squads as often as we can over this weekend in am attempt to stop our opponents blobbing up, it will take some time but that way everyone gets less lag and better fights. The main issue behind this, and the main reason IRON run as one when needed, is in the lack of competent commanders / leaders – too often it’s just myself, or just Offski on at any given time and it’s hard for the newer guys to take you guys on at prime time.

I don’t see why you cry so much about ‘blobs’ both servers that we oppose do it to excess at every chance they get but do we cry? No. We just marvel at how close together our loot bags end up.

We over at IRON actually enjoyed tonight, no we didn’t call ‘the entire border’ over to us, we ran as a guild with our usual suspects, there were actually two other organized groups on SFR border during prime time today. It’s stupid to have to keep reading on here about how X guild runs with 9000 people. Yes tonight we had around 70 IRON on, but why should we feel bad about that? Just because X guild can’t / won’t / doesn’t get numbers on doesn’t mean anything to us. We actually often run with two squads instead of ‘blobbing’.

Anyway, nice looting on SFR border tonight, here’s to the culling ’removal (xD) and being able to see your enemy!

Well there’s a lot of people after you but I’ll add a bit about Desolation on here since we are always on the look out for guilds that will fit in here :>

Desolation has been bouncing around the EU T1 /2 (tier one for a long time now) and has managed this due to the immense dedication of the guilds and people on the server. We do not have great coverage, nor do we have any queue issues (prime time queues are 5 mins at best). We having been actively working together to form an alliance that can see us through staying up in T1 but we do need more coverage at all times to achieve this. Our current opponents (Vizunah and SFR) offer us good fights and much loot!

So for your questions:
1. We have no active SEA guilds on Desolation.
2. I’ll throw you at my stream for videos of our server working together, being in IRON we are a 24/6 active guild so we end up working with everyone at some point in the week http://www.twitch.tv/wrex13
3. Desolation has a massive PvX community, as well as a substantial WvW community. We are working to integrate the two better everyday through the use of our community website and team speak, and hoping the patch will help bring more people in to try WvW.

IRON has done this (getting up and out early, usually 6am GMT onwards) loads of times on Saturdays / Sundays but every time it made little difference to the overall score since we have minimal coverage on Desolation out of prime time (even at prime time there is only 5 minute queues).

Well this went sour fast again, nice fights so far this week on Desolation border though, ZD’s really are amazing, best guild we in IRON have had to pleasure of facing.

@ Sacrx and RG – Yes we outnumbered you last night, but it really wasn’t by that much however you might want to call it a blob.

We didn’t have ‘everyone’ in the zone on us, we didn’t even have everyone in our guild on the border on us. We will never ask pugs to leave when running with a commander icon on because we believe that is outright rude and damaging to the community as a whole, and last night we had an icon on.

We have no lag fighting you at all, and watching your stream back your ele seemed to have no lag, weird how some of you had massive lag really. We only have lag fighting MoS no matter if there is 10 of them or 40.

IRON, as stated above in this thread, has been on Desolation since the game began, we’re not server hoppers as all so please don’t start that rumor for us, we are actually kinda proud of this fact.

Anyway, here’s to the rest of this matchup – and to next week’s since it looks like we’ll still be up. Keep up the awesome work Desolation, love you all

The amount of skill delay and lag in WvW is getting totally insane lately, open field fights with 10 second skill delay – only able to auto attack, waypoints on keeps having 30 second delay on contest due to server lag. What gives? This lag is becoming game breaking and is ruining the fun of WvW. It has been getting worse and worse in the past two / three weeks. It is far worse than culling ever was, at least culling was funny, lag is just plain annoying. Any word on if this is going to get a fix?

This week has been fun so far, nice fights from both Vizunah and Elona.

Just wanted to point out to the comments from SFR – Vizunah actually fight very well in the open field, they have been doing it more and more over the last month. Now we have great open field battles with them , and their guilds and PuGs alike have really stepped up their game. The reason they are so hard to beat is because of coverage. Elona don’t seem to have much coverage outside of primetime, and over on Desolation we too have a minimal night team and practically no day team. The ability for Vizunah to cover the night and morning makes them winners, they can upgrade in peace and then defend with ease.

Here’s hoping that a few more dedicated WvW Guilds with night / day coverage move into the EU bracket because with these times better covered, at least on Deso, we would be able to take first place once in a while.

It’s sad how these threads end up in flame wars every week but meh I guess the forum warriors need somewhere to vent! I’d like to just say that I am proud to be the Co-Leader of IRON and although I don’t share the opinion of some of our members (carrying Deso) I do think that the guys and gals within IRON do a great job and are awesome fun to play with. In addition to this awesome guild we have a great alliance on Desolation and every guild in it works hard to bring good fights to WvW.

Gotta say this morning was the earliest i’ve gotten up in over two years, however it was also the most fun i’ve had in WvW in a long time. Had a great 8 v VZombie zerg fight at briar (VZ border) at around 6am GMT to kick off the day and it was all fun fun fun from there in!

All the fights so far in Garrison (again VZ border) have been great today and we still hold it despite it having no outer walls or doors. Keep it up VZombies it’s really nice to see you out in the field for a change!

So I might have missed it but has it been announced properly yet how these new matchups are going to be working tommorow? I know the MOS site is using a guestimate but it’s not accurate as far as i’m aware.

It would be nice to know how the ladders are going to work BEFORE the reset since alot of us in the WvW community like to plan / organise reset week and leaving it this late seems a bit kitten.

Mostly agree with everything people have said in this thread, while the reset is needed having one week matches seems a bit overkill while the tiers are balancing themselves out again.

Perhaps some more consideration as to if the matches should remain one week long or revert to 24hr for a bit (or perhaps three days) would be good since it’s hard to plan anything for WvW as it stands.

Desolation has been full since week 2.

We have all worked very hard to get back into T1 and hopefully come the end of this matchup we will have achieved this goal, hopefully we will fair better than the last time we went up!

As far as recruitment is going, the only WvW guild we’ve had come over here recently is KAZ, and they have been a real asset to us. We still have no/short queues on most borderlands all week.

Desolation was all about RUIN, after they left you break apart. Now you are in tier 2 cos of KAZ guild, after they left your server you will go back to t4. Well i don’t wanna be unfair, you have IRON guild but one guild can’t carry whole server. So don’t speak me about awesome server with awesome spirit.

We never asked RUIN to come to Deso, and quite frankly we are all glad they left Deso to go to Blacktide since they did nothing but.. RUIN… the sever. And we are not in Tier 2 because of KAZ ( who joined us only for this reset) we have help our own in Tier 2 for a few weeks now, only dropping to Tier 3 one week. We are an awesome server and we do have awesome spirit – you sir need to think / enquire / read before writing such drabble.

To be honest guys, if someone wants to go from Deso – stable server with a great community and fun times in WvW, to Blacktide – falling/failing fast while using underhanded tactics to try to destabilse our great server, then they deserve to be recurited by this random Blacktide commander who’s trying to sabotage WvW.

Wow guys, really sad what this has turned into, i’m suprised that in T2 where we usually have respectful and fun matchups this kind of flaming has begun.

It’s holiday time so numbers everywhere are going to be iffy, but for those who think Deso has some amazing WvW crew – no, we really don’t. It’s funny to read how you think we have millions of players and queues everywhere when in reality at primetime we have one queued borderland, the one where IRON is due to our larger numbers, and that’s it, maybe EB but usually not.

And really, who cares that Elona is night capping this week? it’s christmas. Obviously they feel the need to prove something – lets see them do it when the holiday is over.

Again, it’s sad that T2 is becoming as flame wars as T1 (insert server HACKED THIS insert tower/keep) when in reality you didn’t do a mesmer sweep, I do hope that even though we seem to be keeping the same matchup next week that people have more respect for each other and what people are achieving, Elona’s achievement this week has been great, and it too has been tarnished by all the negativity in this thread.

The biggest problem with WvW is that none of the developers working on it seem to be aware of what the people playing WvW actually want.

It would be benefical to them to look at this thread and to take from it not just the ideas, the the feeling – we are not happy with the changes you have made, we want different things than you are offering. We’re not asking for much, just a few simple changes to make it WvW – not PVE – and to make it more managable and enjoyable, which will in the long run keep more people playing.

As for things that are really in need of change in WvW – get rid of the PVE break out event (if only in the top 3 tiers) it’s so uneeded, as someone mentioned for culling placeholders would be a fairly simple fix to a huge problem, and fix the balance of money earnt / spent to upgrade in WvW. As a large WvW guild I cover around 50g a day to upgrade two borderlands, not including siege needed. I don’t PVE and neither does my guild so we don’t get free money from dungeons, a nice income from WvW would be appreciated. That last point is a selfish one, it costs a bomb to upgrade everything

But really the main thing – involve WvW guilds and players in the choices made in changing WvW.

It is sad to see an AS player using such unsportsmanship tactics, but what more can you expect really.

Really fun start for us on AS border last night, great three way fight in garrison in the early hours and some nice fights with Elona on the ruins

Sadly due to christmas and the new year this match up won’t be what it could, alot of people have family commitments and turkeys to hunt, however, IRON at least will be out and about in some way this week, wvwn if it’s not in full force!
