Not by itself no, because it has to be combined with the scoring changes. Because there are two different issues here, one with coverage one with scoring mechanics.

As someone from NSP, yes, we do outnumber both DH and HoD during prime time, this shows on PPT, during the last reset night when I went to bad we were 6k ahead and logged in to a 10k deficit on the following day.

This match-up isn’t decided on prime time, but by the SEA guilds from HoD that hits doors night after night, specially ours as I heard that every night we end up even losing our keep in EB at least once every night and always take some time to get it back, now imagine for how long they hold SMC uncontested.

For DH the match-up is dull because they lack numbers, for us on NSP it’s dull because it’s impossible to win as HoD night capping is too strong.

I know what that is like from my time on SoR during its time in tier 1 where it lacked the ocx/sea coverage compared to BG/JQ. I hope the upcoming scoring changes will make things a little more fair and balance out matches, and make coverage gaps a little less of a problem for servers to have to deal with. Despite what some people might think winning by 100-200k is not really fun.

I would like something with a fiery volcanic theme, like Ring of Fire Islands, or a map with different themes would be cool to.

Despite the fact there is little personal incentive to do so, there are no tournament rewards or anything specifically tied to a servers performance that would encourage one to transfer to a winning server. Generally people transfer for a more preferable playing environment or for more personal reasons, to play with a guilds, friends, family etc. Some people want to keep throwing around this ridiculous idea that we are getting so many transfers, always looking for something else to blame, whats next blame ET’s massive zergs? Make up stories about how BG has 80 ppl on all maps all day? Give me a break, they need to stop making excuses and try to realize that its actually possible to have fun without winning every week.

I believe they actually said that the RI timer wasnt going to change when they mentioned the 5 minute scoring cycle, simply because they wanted to make it so that if you capped something, you had it for at least one tick.

I have another theory as to why hardened gates was changed, it could possibly be related to the upcoming scoring changes, specifically the ppt timer being reduced to 5mins. In which case I can see how things like this would become to much of an obstacle for earning points.

That makes no sense. Are they going to dump that 5 minute RI too. That is an obstacle to earning points.

Its not like an objective gets flipped 12 times an hour with the current 15 minute tick.

IF I had to guess, the PvD damage buff is intended to benefit/encourage blobs. Lets not pretend that its anything else.

Just logged in, and already I am getting massive lag, fps drops, and ping spikes. My ping spiked to 3600 just turning around my toon, I haven’t moved a step and already the game is unplayable. Anet please do something about your servers or whatever the problem with Telia is.

Watch them decrease the percentage to 60% needed for the get rid of dbls poll so that they then don’t have to bother with any of these bl polls ever again.

Hypothetically though since this poll will be redone, it could lead people to not vote against the dbl opting instead to wait to vote once again for the simultaneous implementation. Either way it will be quite interesting.

Can make a personal forge and stand right near your bank to make it easier, what would be really nice is if could forge the same item multiple times at once, like if promoting cores to lodestones so we don’t have to go one by one.

Good news Tyler thank you, this makes more sense. Any chance there will be a reconsideration of lowering the percentage threshold down from 75% to say 66% or two thirds.

Lowering the threshold at this point would only destroy the credibility of the polling process. 75% was a very poor number to begin with, but they’ve made their bed, now.

I dont know about that, if it were presented properly that lowering the threshold makes it easier for everyone, I think it would really help a lot. Simply having the attitude that improvements cant be made because of possible negative perceptions is a very bad path to take.

I don’t disagree with you. The initial 75% was a bad number, imo, but that number needs to now stay, for this series of polls. Maybe after the dbl/abl mess is sorted out, then Anet/Tyler could say something like, “for the next series of polls, we will just be asking for a super majority, ie 65% for a poll to pass”.

I think that would be a good fix.

Problem is now people like me who didn’t like the dbl but were prepared to accept both maps at once will be basically forced to vote against it ever returning it again…And now I am going to feel really bad if it gets to 75% for all those people who like the dbl and to all the devs who worked on it…

Well this one is definitely an exception because it was riddled with problems, but in general its a good way to prioritize plans for the future. Cant simply downplay the value because it doesn’t go your way.

Has absolutely nothing to do with going my way or not. I like dbls, so having them for a 3 month stretch of time is ok by me.

But I don’t feel, with the horribly confusing wording and options of the poll, and then Tyler’s even more confusing response on that the devs also wanted a rotation….that the majority will of the players was even somewhat represented in the results.

It was more of a general statement, not a personal one. They should redo how the polls are presented and how they are used

-Simpler wording
-Less options to avoid confusion and cluttering percentages when there is a requirement for change
-Lower percentage requirement to say two thirds, its not a simple majority but still high enough that it would show a generally favorable view of that option
-When having a poll, dont make announcements about other polls that could have an effect on the current one

The poll has ended! After removing all votes for “Don’t Count My Vote” and combining the two “Yes” votes, the final results are:

69.7% – Yes (55% Double Alpine + 14.7% Double Desert)
30.3% – No

desert is superior to alpine, numbers show alpine was the cause of dead wvw before hot and with hot and desert we see a big increase in activity in wvw again. Then when they removed desert the numbers started to plummet again and wvw is now dead.

In regards to dbl…its not only just community/forum feedback, there are actual raw numbers to compare activity levels. There was a massive dropoff in player activity, there is just no getting around it. With the hardened gates change, well I still don’t understand that one, it seems a bit much to me.

You must clearly be one of those band wagon transfer refugees. It has been in the game since launch so it clearly is not or was not considered an exploit. I have played since beta through the good, bad and ugly and have always remained loyal to my server and the people I play the game with.

Yea man because I want exploits fixed so people cant abuse them, I must be a bandwagoner. If you knew where to place those trebs, then you know exactly why its an exploit, because of how you were getting around the ‘siege deployment blocked’ effect.

This is not about siege use or server reputation, this garbage can and has affected every server at some point because these idiots are not afraid of any repercussions for their actions. There needs to be more attention paid to, and more enforcement against this kind of behavior when it is clearly trolling and obviously not productive or helpful. Or having better mechanics in place to discourage or make it harder to do this, for example not allowing players to throw down a certain amount of siege within a given period of time.

This could be in response to the use of shield generators and door trebs which usually cannot be countered. It might also be to encourage people to use other options like invulnerable fortifications. Either way, the randomness of this change is what I find most puzzling.

Hi guys, I just wanted to respond to a few concerns:

Why does this poll need a 75% majority?

• Honestly, we had a difficult time deciding if this poll should be decided by a simple majority, rather than a super majority. When we first decided to start polling, the team decided that whenever we are making a major change to the existing game, that change should require 75% of the community to agree to it. We wanted to avoid anything close to a 51/49 split. Mixed Borderlands definitely falls under the category of a major change to the existing game. However, what made the decision harder, was that polling only started relatively recently. Had this poll existed 6 months ago, before we ever started rotating borderlands, it likely would have been decided by a simple majority instead.

Why does this poll not have an option to remove the Desert Borderlands?

• As per the above, we require 75% to make a major change (like permanently removing DBL.) If we try to ask two, or more, 75% questions in a single poll neither is likely to achieve that requirement.
• Prior to this poll, the community reaction to the Desert Borderlands had seemed much more positive. Forum posts approved of the changes we had made to the map in the April 19th release, and were largely in agreement that the map had noticeably improved.
• We believed that those that were hostile to Desert would be less so if the Mixed Borderlands feature allowed Alpine to live in harmony with Desert, rather than replacing it for 3 months. So we wanted to provide this option before creating a poll about removing DBL altogether.

What’s next?

• We’ll poll the community to see if at least 75% of them would like to see the Desert Borderlands permanent removed. This won’t be next weeks poll, but likely the week after that.
• If players vote to remove DBL, then the results of this poll will be void (as we’ll only have one borderlands map.) Otherwise, we’ll move forwards with the results of this poll.

That is rather interesting, although wouldn’t it have made more sense to have a poll on whether or not we would want dbl back in the first place before having this poll to determine if we wanted a rotation or simultaneous implementation.

I am also curious as to what you guys might do with the dbl if such a poll were to take place, perhaps put it into Eotm? Or use it as a template for a pve or pvp map someday. I mean I don’t personally like it for wvw, but I think it would be good for other areas of the game.

I am basically unable to do anything in game, Ive just been standing around in Divinity’s Reach going through my bank, even then my ping is bouncing and fps is dropping, opening windows or loading text produces lag. Please anet look into this, it keeps getting worse each day and I don’t know what else to do.

Can we get an explanation at least for this change, or at least change the gate damage reduction to 75%.

Just tried karka queen, 3500 ping the entire time, dc’ed in the middle of the event, everything was basically frozen, game was stuttering and lagging while just running around on the map before the event started my fps was dropping to 3. Pingplotter shows a massive packet loss right before and right after it started.

If you read this info I have in this post you can learn a bit more about how the Internet works and how to test if it’s Anet or not. I see some responses here that show ping plotter shows no issues. It could be several issues at that point but filing a ticket with support is not a bad idea.

I like the alpine art design its just so cozy, but I always love snow and stuff lol. Someday I would really like to see a fiery volcanic theme map, that would be cool.

I am having similar issues, gw has been roughing up my computer lately. I am getting lag spikes constantly, my ping bounces from 70-5k, and my fps drops to 1 lol around large groups. I dont know what is going on. Rubberbanding, dc’s, freezes, lag its becoming unplayable.

As someone who has played wvw for nearly 3.5 years now, I am very much enjoying the new direction it is heading. They are making some great changes, implementing much needed and long overdue features, and most importantly they are actually communicating, taking feedback into account with polls and live beta tests, and trying to fix what doesn’t work or is broken.

Do people not remember when they didn’t even acknowledge that wvw existed? When we would get screwed over with no updates, no fixes, no communication for months at a time.

Of course there are things that can be improved, and stuff that I personally am not crazy about. But really they deserve a lot of credit for this new direction, and I really look forward to what is in store for the future.

I much prefer this steady stream of updates, features, changes, and fixes rather then a hyped up event here and there that burns out a bunch of people. Or making massive changes with no feedback, communication whatsoever. Even if I don’t agree with or like everything that is being done, I am realistic and don’t expect perfection. They are on the right path, and if some people don’t want to be a part of it and move on, well that’s your choice to do so.

If it was a tier 1 tactivator, it might be more useful to replace chilling fog. Otherwise I am not really sure why this change was made. I mean I can understand reducing it from 100%, but halving it seems a bit much.

The issue is not whether they can be countered, they were not supposed to be able to built in spawn/invuln areas. If you understand how they were placed, you will know how people found the exploit spots to place and build the siege to get around the siege deployment blocked effect, because you couldnt just throw it down anywhere, you had to find specific areas. This is why whenever people reported it here and posted pictures there would be a specific pattern on where they were placed.

I have 8gb of memory, when the game is running the memory consumption spikes up to over 90%, when idle its about 30-35% when I look at task manager. Thanks for the help.

Exploits “favoring the outmanned side” are still exploits. Its stupid not to fix them.

If we were that concerned about helping the losing side, how about we make all objectives invulnerable and remove all non-PPT scoring? That way, each server will always hold their starting keeps & towers and it’ll be a 3 way tie for first every week! Problem solved, yes?

People defending this also seem to forget it can be abused by ANYONE, this kind of garbage ruins gameplay plain and simple and needs to be fixed as quick as possible.

It could hit basically everywhere near the north towers and the paths leading to and including the outer garrison walls.

I dont know about other servers but on t1, this was basically an automatic response by some servers to use spawn trebs to hit towers and garrison regardless of how many people were on the map. Those crying that this was used by outnumbered are being disingenuous because it was abused even more by full map blobs even during reset nights. It just became an automatic response and good riddance to it.

I was a little surprised by this to, 100% was to much basically giving full damage immunity to gates, I mean we already cant damage walls with regular skills. But 50% seems like a pretty big nerf.

To be fair there were a lot of other factors that turned people away from wvw aside from the dbl, guild hall/upgrade grind for example, grinding pve for elite specs and other stuff, unbalanced gimmicks like banners, fog, airship etc.
