Have you tried deleting local.dat file from Documents/Guild Wars 2 just to see if it changes anything? (note that you’ll lose any changes you might’ve made in the game setttings)
Does it say something about validating your account and show two buttons (about email notification)? If you do see that, try pressing cancel.

Go to
C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Temp
and look for another gw2.exe. If there is one in there which is not 0KB (should be about 20MB), copy-paste it to your GW2 folder instead of that empty one. Don’t forget to run it as Admin.
(note that the Temp path may look a bit different in German.. I’m not sure)

Scanning shouldn’t take long, however, downloading will depend on your Internet connection speed.

Are you sure it’s actually downloading? Launcher is probably just scanning the files, but it always shows “downloading” text.
edit: there was a patch yesterday.. so it may need to download that. Unfortunately, I don’t remember how many files there were apprx.
@Sen
AFAK, awesomium is web interface api. It’s used by Trading Post.. so why would it crash upon start-up??? I checked with my client (which is working) and awesomium isn’t used during splash screens. Anyway.
go to:
C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Local\Temp and try to find folder called gw2cache -{lotsof numbers and letters}. If you find it, delete it.
-Also, go to Documents/Guild Wars 2 and delete local.dat. (note that this will reset any changes you might have made in the settings so back it up first, just in case).
- Run a repair on the client
-If you have applications such as Steam or Google Chrome open, close them.
Check if it works now by running the client as Admin.
Hi,
this issue apparently affects some users with WinXP and ATI cards.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Radeon-HD-7750-and-Windows-XP-Terrain-Disappearing-Issue/
Have you tried repairing the client?

You know, I agree with you. The only reason I mentioned video card is because AshleySegovia has, in fact, stated that running installer on “under minimum requirements” system may not even allow it to download anything. See here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/0-can-t-download-gw2/first#post89852
although I do not understand how that should be affecting simply downloading the client
You probably have already downloaded the client.
You can go to C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Local\Temp and look for a file called gw2.exe there. That is the client application. You can copy it to some other location (where you want game to reside) and try running it as Administrator.
(I just did that myself out of curiosity. Copied gw2.exe on USB stick to my older laptop and ran it. It happily proceeded to download 200K+ remaining files.)
Hi everyone, I’m here because I have serious problems with GW2 performance, and I hope that someone can help me.
I play GW2 on an Asus G73sw laptop, and its specs are
….
Hi, it’s possible that your FPS fluctuations may be caused by CPU throttling. It’s been known to happen on this specific Asus model. There is program you can download and try that will stop it. See this notebookreview thread for more details:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/576468-g73-53sw-owners-cpu-throttling-798mhz-how-fix.html
Devs know about this issue.

Somebody in the other thread (who had similar issue) suggested trying to change Sampling in the game’s graphic options. Normally, it’s set on native. Try Supersampling or Subsampling.
I’d also try to update graphics drivers from Intel website (not Acer).
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx?lang=eng
You can try running their auto-detect utility from there. I do recommend creating a restore point before doing it though (just in case).

It appears you’re using wireless USB adapter to connect. Personally, I’ve had a lot of problems with those (unrelated to GW2). I’d definitely try using a cable to connect to the router and/or modem.
Secondly – and this is bad news- I don’t believe your video card is supported by the game. You need a card that supports Shader Model 3.0.
It could be your firewall or antivirus software.

Can you perhaps list what you’ve tried?
Thing is, while many people seem to have similar issues, the causes can be very different. From drivers, to router settings, to software that somehow interferes with the connection.
That’s the first time I hear about this problem (and there are plenty of rangers in my guild).
I can only recommend at this point to check if all your drivers are up to date. Perhaps you should also post your Game Advisor report.
I also believe there is an option in the game settings that allows you to disable those green AoE circles altogether.
i5 2500K stock
8gb RAM
GTX275 896mb
Running in 1650 × 1050 with everything on HIGH (vsync off, frame limiter off )
World: 40-50fps (minus occasional spikes to 60+ when staring at a wall)
Lion’s Arch: 20-35fps
WvWvW zerg or big world events: 15-25fps
I, for one, am very interested to know which update was responsible for this (assuming it was an update in the first place). I was wondering if before doing system restore, you could go to Control Panel > Uninstall Program > Show Installed Updates (on the left) and note KB numbers of updates installed on that day?

Try removing local.dat from Documents/Guild Wars 2 folder.
Glad I could help.
Well, module causing the crash is sliplsp.dll which according to my search is some kind of Internet accelerator called Slipstream. If I were you, I’d try uninstalling that and crossing my fingers.

I’m glad you’ve been able to fix it.
In the graphic options > Render Sampling.
At some point, AMD stated that obsolete hardware will have no support in new driver versions.
Then why do 12.8 release notes list 5400 series as supported?
http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalystSoftwareSuiteVersion128ReleaseNotes.aspx
Have you tried using this tool by AMD?
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/auto_detect.aspx
I suggest making a restore point (should things go wrong again) so that you can easily revert back.
This seems to be a common issue with some ATI Mobility cards and obsolete drivers (from 2010).
When you said that you tried to update the drivers and problems happened, what did you mean exactly?

Can you post more info about your system, like exact model motherboard and CPU?
Have you checked for any BIOS updates for your motherboard?

@XcomCaveRat – I got no idea how to make a rollback on before SP1.. I don’t think my system has backup’s.
If you used Windows Update to install SP1, it probably created a System Restore Point. You can check it in Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
Click Next it will show the list with restore points you have. You should see one on the exact date when SP1 was installed.
But be careful, restoring the system will wipe out any changes you’ve done to drivers/DirectX etc. I suggest you try that if nothing else works.

Have you tried rolling your system back to before SP1 installation, and checking if this issue persists?
Are you using mobile internet connection by any chance?
Anyway, I have no experience with this issue myself, but check this thread for some possible solutions..
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Game-updates-2000-files-except-3-which-hang-there/
I recommend you post a report from Game Advisor so that people have a better idea about your system.
http://us.ncsoft.com/gameadvisor
Before you consider upgrading hardware, I suggest you update your drivers first. From what I’ve seen, blue artifacts are often a result of old drivers. You mentioned limited computer knowledge, so I don’t know if you have actually tried to update your graphic drivers.
This tool from AMD will auto-detect your card:
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/auto_detect.aspx
Before doing driver updates, I also recommend creating a system restore point in case something goes wrong.
http://windows.microsoft.com/is-IS/windows7/Create-a-restore-point
Hi, I think that the problem is that Sony (as many other laptop manufacturers) is lagging behind in drivers updates. Your graphic driver, even if updated, still dates back to 2010.
This is the link to the latest Mobility drivers for Win7 64bit:
http://www2.ati.com/DriverS/mobile/12-8_mobility_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql.exe
However, I suspect you may encounter problems while trying to install these new drivers since AMD, for some reason, wants you to use Sony’s outdated crap. Unfortunately, since I have no experience with Vaio laptops, I can’t really help you with installation, but there is gotta be a way to install them. Perhaps you should try googling it. Just make sure you make a restore point before fiddling with drivers.

If you read comments from people on NewEgg, it’s most likely crap PSU. Evidently, others have this problem too, so RMA it.

When does it freeze exactly? When you click the client, or when you’re already playing?
Tech support here always recommends SP1 for Win7, so maybe you might try installing that.

Are you getting this error when running gw2setup.exe or when running gw2.exe? Have you tried running it as Administrator?
Also, does the serious error message mention any details?
Some people have suggested lowering texture quality in the game settings, that it may reduce crashing.
I suggest you download WhoCrashed and let it analyze your crash dump files. It should tell what driver the crash is originating from. Usually, it will be display driver.. but occasionally, it might be something odd like some USB driver or whatever. It’s worth checking out, IMO.
Is GW2 the only game where this issue occurs?
Pretty strange, actually. The only issue with Naga I have atm, it that Synapse software updated itself like 3 times in the last week, and now the options screen pops up every time PC is rebooted (which is annoying).

Just out of curiosity, what drivers are you using? I have GTX275 and am running 301.42 drivers (which are NOT recommended by the game). Strangely, everything runs beautifully on HIGH (30-60fps) with the exception of WvW and big events; but as far as I know, that kill’s everyone’s FPS.
My drivers are the latest from RealTek (2.70, I believe). And, naturally, I’ve tried to tinker with all sound options within the game without any luck.
Some have reported issues with 5.1 sound. Does it sound less wrong if you configure your sound settings as ordinary 2.0 stereo instead?
In my case they are configured as ordinary stereo.
I have the same thing with Realtek ALC892 chip (been having it since launch). Next to what you describe, I also can’t hear any sound during cinematic dialogs, or rather it sounds like a very, very distant echo. I do, however, find it a game breaking bug since the game is pretty much unplayable for me this way. Fortunately, I’ve been able to use my USB headset which works a bit better (not optimal though).

Guess it depends on the card. I have GTX275 and been running 301.42 drivers without issues (i.e. graphic issues). My policy is therefore: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

This is what your dxdiag says:
Driver Version: 8.15.10.2418
DDI Version: 10.1
Driver Model: WDDM 1.1
Driver Attributes: Final Retail
Driver Date/Size: 6/10/2011 13:16:06, 8292352 bytes
As you can see, your drivers date back to 2011. There are newer drivers available. I am not sure what you’re using to update drivers, but simply go to http://downloadcenter.intel.com and download the setup exe for the new drivers. (Select Graphics > Desktop Graphics Drivers > Intel HD 3000/2000 family > Your Operating System)

Posted by: XcomCaveRat.4059
Well, according to your dxdiag, your drivers are not up to date. It’s no guarantee new drivers will fix your issue, but you should head to Intel Download Center and grab the latest drivers.

Oh yes. Sound through Realtek chip in this game seems to be a complete mess. Aside from ambient weirdness, I can’t hear dialogs at all. Just glad I had an Logitech usb headset. While it’s also buggy, it’s not as bad as that (at least playable). I hope they fix it soon.
