Anyone know servers the events are not bugged on?

Finding servers with working temples isn’t hard. I regularly run crawls on servers with 4 or more working temples. GW2Stuff.com has good info on most of the temples (I find detail on Grenth a bit lacking, but it doesn’t glitch so I don’t worry much about it).

The most frustrating thing is that temples and a few other world events are the only practical way to get Dragonite Ore and 3/5 of bugged on TC/JQ/SOR/BG (the 4 biggest NA servers)

Lies:
JQ: 4/5 working. Grenth: Open. Melandru: I’m in a large zerg busy opening it, Lyssa Open. Dwayna Bugged, and Balth was opened yesterday, only issue being a dispute over which players got it open.

SOR: 3/5 working Lyssa, Grenth, Balth: Working. Dwayna/Melandru: Bugged. Grenth: Either open or recently opened, Balth, looks like it may have been open this weekend.

Yes, it’s a problem.
Yes, it’s on their radar.
Yes (grumble) it’s the holiday season, so times needed to fix things necessarily go up. :S

You should look at some of the sylvari hairdoos, and consider how those might work with a headpiece. Some of them are larger than most headpieces.

That siad, I could perhaps see that one hanging onto the hair, but there’s probably a slew of headpieces it doesn’t work well with. :S

@ Sorudo, that’s where you make it a specific pet trait, where some pets tank, and others evade. You want a tanking pet, take one that tanks.

Some of the event chains are complex and have hidden dependencies (Balthazar is this way) In some instances, there’s a trick to clear a stuck state, or the event isn’t stuck at all, it’s merely waiting on an unclear dependency.

Level 38 Fractal - Bug on Mai Trin

FYI: Looked had this happen to me.
Happened right after barrage phase 2.
The speculation is we had a couple poison sources, which probably left her in regen at the start of barrage phase 2 (Level 38 converts poison to regen). Once we got damage on her after that barrage, she called for a barrage from Horrik, but remained down among us.

We were able to finish, but we were vaguely under the impression that regen did not cause her to re-enter barrage phases, which is exactly what that looked like.

I’d simply settle for ranged pets that know to kite out of AoE.

Or, a specific defesnive traite per pet.
eg, one of:

  • walk out of AoE
  • Evade when owner evades
  • Evade from own endurance (using hide method, some existing fliers/tunnelres do this)

That said, this would probably be better suited to the ideas forum. The pets are working as designed, the question is whether the design merits adjustment.

Could you elaborate some as to what we are seeing?

I see the trees not connected to the ground, but I could see it being a dozen different things from an incompletely loaded scene to a camera angle that’s inside an object, causing other items to render strangely.

While you are in the down state or carrying any bundle(reflectors, control rods, etc…) you are in fact: not wielding your weapon.

If you depend on the AR on your weapon, be aware that there are times where you are weaponless

Balth buggy?

The only reproducible bug @ Balth that I’ve seen, is where an NPC at south invasion dies, making the event unfailable until reset, while still allowing easy completion of the event chain. Add that there are 1,2,3 – 3 invasion paths, and any one is sufficient to open the temple (although if 2 become stuck, I believe the third may implicitly become stuck too).

Again people: Details! How are these temples getting stuck?

Trolls. The only way to get rid of them is to slay them (and given these are players that res at any waypoint, simple killing is not sufficient). The next best alternative is to not feed them.

Pay trolls no mind. The admins do look at whether an account is performing suspicious activities, and completing hearts in a zone is probably not one of them. A single false report from another player may bring about an outcome decidedly in your favor. In the extremely unlikely event that your account is suspended, take it up with support directly, this is not the proper venue to dispute account bans.

I’d suggest removing your image and striking the players name from your post. I’d have to reread forum rules, but I think it counts as a violation for identifying a specific player you have a problem with, or something along those lines…

I believe ANet has what they need to fix Dwayna, and its just a matter of time for the fix to work through the process (I’d guesstimate 2-3 game updates before we see a fix) For now just make sure the historian stays out of the priestess fight and at full health, and it won’t glitch on you.

I’ve seen Melandru in a glitched state, but I’ve little idea what the mechanic is, other than the event to take it never kicks off despite the town being open. I’ll wager ANets job of fixing it will be a hundred times easier with details of how it enters a glitched state. (Are we missing some subtle dependency on other events? Doubtful…)

For that matter, I’ve only seen Lyssa stuck once or twice, and not all that recently. Would you care to elaborate on how Lyssa is stuck, and if possible, how it becomes stuck?

Seriously, folks. If you grumble “it borken, please fix!” about meta-events without saying how they are borken, the odds of them being fixed at all are very low. If you can explain in good detail not just how they are broken, but how these actually become broken, the odds of a lasting fix in a reasonable timeframe (probably 2-6 game updates) becomes very high.

I’ve never had issues with pop ups in-game being slow to open. Could this be the software managing the popup being slow to respond?

Are you on Mac or Windows?
Do you have a web browser open while in game? (I’ve seen some plugins hamper FPS, for example those used my youtube)
Have you recently installed the OS recommended updates? (windows/System Updates)

Instead of spawning waves when the last wave is completely dead, can the waves be spawned then the last wave is mostly dead? (Say, not more than one surviving vet, all champs and up dead, and 80% of all lesser foes dead). One is not likely to fail to notice an unkilled champion, and the ‘spawn wave 2 on death of wave 1’ seems artificial, and prone to incidental failure if one of the foes is overlooked for any reason (spawned in a wall/under a hill).

My ranger has something like 300 skill points (not counting unused scrolls/consumables that yield skill points)

I suspect we won’t be long waiting for skin boxes.
I’ve (deliberately) not followed official notes on ascended/legendary armors, to the point of changing topics (sometimes quite rudely, I apologize) when the topic came up, so there are bound to be better informed individuals around. With that in mind, the pattern has been for ascended gear to include a capacity to carry agony resistance. If the new armors each carry one resist slot, that puts easily another 30-40 AR into our possession, and more than 20 mistlock instabilities were data mined – the higher levels have been at least planned out and I think we’ll have a way to get at them…. Perhaps as early as next week. Perhaps a few weeks after the armors and legendaries update, to let us players get back on stable ground before throwing new content at us.

Given the tie in of fractals to the new living story, we’ll probably see the other levels released with their own living-story elements.

This is not considered a bug.

The Fractal Skin Box is not dropping for the Fractal levels currently available (up to level 50).

It’s not accessible to anyone at this time.

Why even include it in the patch notes? This is maximum level kittened and an awful design change. Make it from level 40+.

Long shot here, but you might try switching to minimum graphics settings. Completely restarting the computer fits in the same boat. I’m thinking that you might need something more targeted than those.

Michael, There are two types of infusion that offer agony resistance. For the agony infusion slot, you need to use the infusions dropped by doing the dungeon, or upgraded forms of same. The versatile +5 AR infusion is not versatile enough to go into the agony infusion slot.

What changed then between when it worked and when it failed?

My decision to focus on hardware was simple: Things rarely decide to spontaneously stop working, and there weren’t game updates in that time – the trigger is on your end. there may be some specific content in Caledon that your graphics card flubs badly if its overheated. Or alternately, there’s a texture file in the .dat that the client stalls while reading due to a semi-recoverable disk error. Both would explain a zone specific stall while loading, either that would appear to recover if you are out of the game for a while.

Could you list details like OS and Video Card? That may not bring us to a cause/solution, but it may let someone start connecting dots… You might also look in the tech support forum here, see if there’s already a thread there that covers this same problem.

I’m glad you found it. I was wondering if you were hitting a shortcut combo I used to use for changing screen orientation (Ctrl-alt-arrow), which would probably never reach the game if the appropriate software was listening for it.

The numberpad is a wierd beast, and why I’ve never written any code that touches it. That I can gather, there’s more than one way to listen to number pad presses, but I’ve never researched it properly from the code writing angle – any rate, this makes it a numlock bug issue. You might update the subject and first post to reflect that.

For the SB, this is starter zone content, its not supposed to be hard, but it should last long enough that the players new to the game get a feel for what’s happening, so yes, make it boring and add to his hp/armor.

You can still make it more interesting:

  • Introduce a need to heal: poison breath on his screams.
  • introduce a use for dodging: give him a ‘bash Zerg’ attack that acts as a mild hit and strong knockback for anyone failing to avoid it.
  • introduce an agile opponent: have the beast move after it does a Bash Zerg move. Move him enough that the entire zerg must give chase. This actually ‘weakens’ the cc of his bash zerg attack, in that evading it only saved you some damage and an embarrassing knockback, you still have to run back to him. This helps also to draw out the fight.
  • bonus points for style if he visually pounces on the players he knocks around (again, starter zone content, so no maiming the pounced players, just a ‘oh hello there…’

Harder content?

Well, Balth right now is ‘harder content’ but unlike Teq, a Zerg can seemingly do nothing wrong, fail at no clear defense objective, lose no morale, and then find half of itself dead and the event failed, players asking ‘what happened?’. If there are cues, if the morale loss is gradual, if there are champion risen with giant zerg-piercing frickin laser beams attached to their heads, then the Zerg can see and respond to these challenges. As it is today, Balth presents a good level of difficulty but of an extremely poor type. (And if I am to put any weight to reports I’ve heard from NSP last night, it might be getting worse?)

Teq, however, gives you clear objectives, but I think suffers from some of the nicer features of dynamic scaling. If I stand at x,y, the event scales up at x,y, not the whole event, just where I am standing. This opens up some dynamics in a multi-section event like Teq, where players may just run through a defense point, bringing the aggro they drag, plus scaling it up for the point defense players, and creates scenarios where players call for ‘more needed at X’ when more really doesn’t help (yay, event just scaled up locally) you need smarter or savvier players.

That said, I’d welcome harder content across all levels (except fractals, which gets dang hard – killed myself with a barrage on 43 last night…). I’m not sure the community is ready for it… Unless the difficulty can be made to scale with the Zerg. 10 players at Teq? Keep at least one gun working and DPS the guy. 20? Keep a full set of 3 guns working and DPS him. 50+? Keep all guns working and start securing a perimeter. 100+? Full perimeter guard, added defend points, and keep the DPS on Teq. If nothing else, this would break up the Zerg, making things easier on low end client systems, and level the playing field for low pop servers, while keeping things a challenge for high pop servers.

Suspicious…

If you are having to rebuild the data every time, that suggests a hardware problem on your end. Is the system detecting a corruption, or are you going through steps to force it to rebuild? If its detecting corruption, its sounding like you have a hardware problem (probably disk, possibly ram). If instead your forcing a rebuild happens to make it work, I could see this as a hardware issue on the video card (overheat?), and. The rebuilds give it the time it needs to recover.

Does it work the first time after you turn the computer on?

I’d suggest:

If in windows, check the event log for errors, especially any disk errors.
Test disk, CPU, and video card.

Get measurements of component temperatures. There are free tools for accessing the temperature sensors built into your CPU and video card.

Thing is, I’d done the reverse after the update (replace a MF infusion with the omni +5 resistance infusion) and had no issues.

I’d done this as a necessary step for diving into the 40+ fractals.

I’m all for soulbound shinies the character can show off… ‘See that Ele there? That’s a Zmorg Staff on his back. He climbed the 99 stories of the Doom Tower, defeated all 7 harbingers, and did single battle with Zmorg…. And lived.’

The runes however, you need a full set of 5-6 usually, just one is a bit of a waste of potential. I see every reason to let players pool these from any source, and little argument to keep them soulbound on acquire.
