Not sure if it’s just luck but after setting the coherent.exe file to open with Guild wars 2 my tp has loaded 4/6 times, 1 crash so far. You do that from right clicking and then ‘get info’, set the file to be opened by Guild wars 2.

That frequently pops up after trying to load the new tp and closing it. Join the unhappy club

I tried that hasn’t worked and while in April them changing their security certificates as a safety against Heartbleed disabled my tp for 5 days never did my game crash. (It was also 100% consistent in never loading the tp, unlike this new tp with a 95%+ failure rate) I have been able to use this tp occasionally it seemed to be getting better but has gone south again, if it was an issue with my computer or internet security it would never have let me use the thing when I first booted the game up after downloading the new feature pack. Unless it was something in the three hot fixes they put in to fix the crashing problem that has upset something on my end, anyhow it was a plausible solution I tried already but for arguments sake have tried again and still no good.

Of course I have created tickets, have sent several even though I’ve actually had better assistance from the community than any Anet staff sadly, no it crashed many players in the first few days of the new tp actually, that was why there were 3 hot fixes, it has become less stable for me since those hot fixes in fact, one the first day of use it worked well and fast, though the new UI sucks.
Anet are aware there are problems for some unlucky people but have been very quiet about that and any way to fix it, agreed something is wrong to crash the game.

The old tp never crashed my game no matter how bad it could be in failing to load.

Do hope you get this fixed soon as there are freebies each day from the tp, so far I have missed one and today there’s a free black lion key I’m told today. I think it’s fair to compensate people who miss these if they genuinely have tp problems, of course I don’t expect it as we were given nothing for April’s problems. If by some miracle you do send something best send to the mail as the tp will just refuse to open for us to redeem anything.

Sometimes I get an endless camera spin, have not seen this with other programs.

Please submit a ticket, this issue is literally making me ill and it can only help our cause if more speak out about it. Am told there’s a free black lion key today on the tp, if I fail to get it thanks to this awful broken tp I will be angry. Safest bet to avoid having to restart the system is to play minimised when you try the tp, at least there you can kill the game if the worst happens.

It is possible to still play don’t feel you must part with real cash, it’s not a p2w or p2have fun scheme but for sure gem values have inflated heavily, don’t squander what money you make in the game, choose your items carefully, sales aren’t as great as they sound as demand for gems offsets the sale price reduction…

That is very true however, amongst other drawbacks a player that doesn’t get any gems will get encumbered far too often, brings me back…. While this game is far from p2w certainly there are some good benefits from gem items.

Probably all of these are already mentioned, but more voices means a better chance of being heard, right?

The new TP did bring many needed improvements, but the sell interface is frustrating me a little more every day.

1. I really hate that the default quantity is 1 instead of max. How many times have I listed 1 of a stack I wanted to sell all of?! It seems to me in UX design you want to default to the most common usage, which I have to assume is to sell all of a stack.

2. I do not like that you cannot see/match your lowest listing anymore. I have already done my homework and decided the price point I think something should go for once. I don’t want to do it every time. It was incredibly convenient to just add small quantites of a common item to my existing listing as I obtained them.

3. I don’t like that the total shown is qty x list price. That is useless to me. I want to see what I will make. The old system was bad because it only showed net of 1 of the 2 taxes. This one shows none – not an improvement. Yeah, I can do the mental math with the taxes listed, but math is what computers were created for! Use them!

4. I REALLY don’t like that the Current Sellers list is so short. For highly volatile items you sometimes had to go pretty far down to find a good price wall. Now you have to just guess without using an external resource (which you have to use every. Single. Time. Because again, it won’t just show you your last listing to add to.)

Don’t get me wrong, I am happy for the accurate categories and new drill-down options, but these selling issues are really frustrating and I hope they will be addressed.

Excellent points, having a custom default or the system remembering what you last did is better than 1. Same goes for the Hero UI always leaving all options closed, when by and large a player would access Equipment most.
2. Yes it saved time for duplicate items. 3. Yes having no profit calculated is some ways worse than an incorrect one, with an incorrect total if you have an idea what the missing fee is you add that rather than having to add 3 things. Indeed from the Abacus to the first true computers that is their main purpose. Data into information…
4. Everyone I spoke to that like the new tp better than the old one say it’s better to buy from…. Not much use to me as I sell far more than buy, definitely the selling side is weak as I don’t see many people defending it.

The armor filter was all I wanted. I agree with this wholeheartedly.
The same motto is taken into the “balancing” of classes. I understand they want to make more money via the gem store, it’s a business. They could of done that without completely revamping the thing.

Good luck if that’s the company’s intent. I’ve never been bullied into parting with real cash to bypass an inconvenience, I’ve virtually never even used a taxi cab in my own country and I don’t buy insurances! If I wanted to I’d play some game that required a subscription or those f2p games that are largely pay to win as they are made so badly that it’s hell and back to progress…

I am more inclined to buy something if I feel it’s good, not cos the alternative is terrible and I can’t think of an example where a slacking organisation succeeds in investing their undeserved spoils to better their services.

Does it affect your asuras if you have any? My asura’s fine, can see the full body but can’t see my norn’s feet.

Yes except for asura only players. Irritating yes as I like to see the full body of females especially, forking out gems to get the only high heels for heavy armour (Phalanx) and not being able to see it now, really…

Does it crash your game after trying closing the tp window? There’s quite a few threads on this, not of much to for me though, you could try deleting the bin folder which is in the GW2 contents if you dig a bit, that has sometimes let me load my tp, I don’t get this same error btw, I get no message just it never loads, sometimes after closing it some game error message shows saying timed out creating browser view… Different problem but yeah highly annoying, I also have no fancy setting or programs that would harm the tp processes, it was all fine before they updated the tp.

Eric I see that error in wvw frequently, haven’t seen it since this feature pack though.

Asuras aren’t affected by this and I don’t think we can do anything to fix it, is annoying hopefully the devs will sort it.

Can’t beat the royal terrace pass, the time saved with that thing not needing to go through old LA when it had the worst loading times of any map…. Well from the looks of things the portal stone sounds redundant for us lucky owners of the Royal pass (I didn’t think that pass would be any good but I looted it last year and fell in love with it enough to buy it. The airship in comparison is rubbish, aside from having a mini game npc, the fact the guild bank is not located near the crafting stations is utterly stupid)

Well yes it would only take a few mins at most to code in the profits after costs are deducted, strange that it wasn’t included. a 2year tp and it was only from the 1st feature pack that I finally had a truly reliable tp that loads without fail and needed a restart every now and then, just for them to rewrite the thing and effectively undo what took them so long to achieve, a reliable tp.

Well I’m one of the unlucky people who still gets consistent crashes from trying to load the tp, if I try to close the failing thing it will crash my game. Did have what seemed to be a decent solution but that only worked a few times with ease (Was deleting the bin folder from the GW2 contents)

Having to restart the game fully (Force quitting the game if no error message appears) just for fail after fail is very demoralising, before the new tp my game never crashed from a bad tp, can’t think of any times where it loads up though if it fails to load within a few seconds. (let alone 20mins) Almost always needed to restart the client to fix that…

As the tp has very often been unreliable, no more so than this new tp, which crashes my game everyday, I would like to be able to use the thing without having the game open. If they could make a tp that works for everyone reliably, not just the majority but all players everyday then such a feature is less important…

That error has been appearing often for me as well over the last few days, as if having a dud tp wasn’t bad enough it’s getting to the point where half the time the game doesn’t even start…

Why are you even on the support forums if you haven’t any real issues? I’d like to see you remaining so glass half full if or when you start to get problems that seem specific to the mac client. Last year my client also had very few faults, I had a more seamless experience than my windows friends even so there really was little reason to read or even post in the mac beta forum, certainly not to try and score brownie points by brown nosing the company, just as well I didn’t as they certainly haven’t done well this year, not one but two major problems this year.

So the first time in 3 days finally got the tp to work and changing character to use it again it goes back to breaking itself, what the hell….

I’d say better post in Support, this thread is terribly clogged. Since the new tp was released it has crashed my game every day at least once, awesome… Well no at least awesomnium’s tp never crashed my client.

On top of my tp failing constantly since they updated it, am on at least 30fails in a row at this moment, all result in crashing my game, I also am experiencing more problems even starting the game now. I refuse to play anyway even if everything was smooth but a broken tp but this really adds insult to injury. Again definitely is this month’s problems, rarely had trouble ever starting the game up. Certainly be wary deleting any caches and bin folders, for me that’s when the startup problems and NULL error messages have appeared, not a good trade just to get the tp running, which it doesn’t anymore for me as of the last 2-3days grr.

There was a strange workaround in April for the mac users including myself who weren’t able to access the tp for like a week after Anet updated the security certificates due to fear of heartbleed, haven’t tried it this time so far… What we were told to do was rename the client, start downloading a new one and run the installer. When it starts to download the game, stop and delete the new one. Name the renamed client back to its original name. For some reason that allowed access to the tp at least till Anet made a new mac client that just broke it again lol….

Not a single use of the tp today, crash after crash, even with deleting the bin folder many times amongst other problems still impotent processes that prevent the tp loading. Not that the game is running too well over the last week anyway, very poor performances especially in WvW, hope a decent fix comes soon, it’s been 10days of problems already!

Well Gavian can you give us some idea of how much progress has been made? Are you able to at least replicate the issues we have? Are there things we might be able to help?

Their new tp sucks, period. I have crashed more times this month than the rest of the year combined thanks to trying to access the tp, I’d suggest deleting the bin folder, that houses the gibberish assets (coherent.exe etc) but that isn’t guaranteed to help and if anything may make the client even less stable.

Does the game crash after you close the tp? Sometimes it won’t but will when trying to reopen the tp. Infuriating

Since Tuesday’s patch the issue has gotten worse. The latency during Tequatl in Sparkfly Fen went up to 40 seconds. I literally had to predict by running and attacking ahead of time from the mass group of ~140 players, because the server is severely holding all that latency for my client. My connection latency to the server is only 300ms to 420ms when something like this occurs.

Granted I wish the server would skip some data to allow me to catch up to real time.

Had 2mins latency in wvw a few nights ago, needless to say I was dead when it ended. Has been consistently bad in wvw this week and even in unpopulated pve zones it can be very poor. Having the tp open may cause awful lag as well but anyhow I haven’t played the game much this month thanks to the broken tp that keeps crashing my game. Lag wasn’t so bad prior to the start of the wvw tourney and it’s gotten worse each day

Is another issue but I haven’t PvP’d for months, I won’t dignify it by calling it sPvP as it’s not called that in game, there is no non ‘spvp’ to differentiate it and it’s so imbalanced anyway. All the imperfections aside the main reason I don’t do it is because of all these stupid rank farms, I cannot find a 10v10 server that’s NOT a rank farm, I report these often but still they exist, nothing breaks a game for me like exploitation.

Good news: after deleting the “bin” folder, the Trading Post actually loaded and all three tabs worked perfectly. Unfortunately after a while a different error message caused the game to crash, “but hey,” I think, “at least this works again”

Well. It worked once. I got overzealous immediately and bought some stuff on the trading post – but now even deleting the bin folder isn’t loading the the BLTC window anymore.
Unfortunately for some misguided, bizarre decision in this game, simply picking up files ALSO has to happen in that same bug-ridden window. If the gem store can send me stuff in the mail, then so should the trading post.

I’m not saying the Auction House in World of Warcraft never had any bugs – the last years I actually played, it was getting increasingly terrible at sorting items – but a static NPC in capital cities is somehow a far more pleasant way of handling your stuff. At least it’s reliable.
I wouldn’t be averse to a completely out-of-game gem store, and an in-game trading post that just uses actual in-game programming and the actual mailbox.

… Anyway, that’s a whole different animal, but I feel like it would solve a lot of anger and frustration.

Fully agree, never used Wow’s tp but other games with static tps certainly never crashed my game and I don’t recall them ever failing to load. I like having a mobile tp BUT seeing how badly Anet has done with it in practise and also as we are forced to still need static tps anyway to collect purchases and sale monies, we should at the very least be able to use a tp system that doesn’t need a flaky browser service. May mean we need to divorce the gem store from the item tp but I probably have spent more time lurking on forums than actually playing the game since the new patch with all its problems, if this had been the performance last April when I played the trial weekend that got me to embark on this journey I’d never have bought the game.

Strange how we are all experiencing different problems, aside from WvW I rarely get crashes due to large events, so I have the means to get lots and lots of loot but not having a robust tp defeats the purpose of that as my selling ability is hindered and for those that have a working tp have the opposite problem of crashing from the events that give them much loot, isn’t it ironic….

many players are still stuck and i was able to fix this on my own.
technically after the patch it made everybody sad coz of coherent,for others, it fixed it using internet options.
100% fix to all users and there are two ways:
1. if u r not a technical person – uninstall the game and then go to your gw2 folder and delete the coherent file manually. then re-install the game.
2 if u r lazy but too technical – delete the current coherent file and re-install a new one(this one saved my time)

sadly I came across it in the Tech support forum, i.e. Windows support and the disparity between communication from Anet there and here is immense.

I have sent multiple tickets in game and still am waiting on you to reply to my forum ticket! 6 days ago I posted on this thread, thought it was unnecessary as it was said we would be contacted personally on the issue. Alas that hasn’t happened. Anyhow that awful new tp crashes my game 95% of the time I try to use it, fails to load as the gibberish processes (What you call coherent) keep committing suicide so the tp fails to load. On closing the ‘new and improved’ tp my game freezes, utter disaster if I dare to play the game fullscreen as I have to restart the system altogether! IF I am lucky the game will give an error message, giving me a chance at least to close the game and let Anet know all is not well, 2 birds with one stone…

There has been one workaround that has worked most times but is laborious and is not without its own problems. Deleting the bin folder allows my tp to load at least for a time, not sure why it fails to later, prior to using this workaround I never had this problem

This prevents my game loading sometimes, a way to beat this is again binning the bin folder but you can appreciate doing this repeatedly daily is irritating. Anyhow, that bin folder workaround’s starting not to work now. I am very eager to hear any useful tips on what to do or better still information on what is being done to fix this issue permanently! Nearly 18months since I started this game and I’ve only seen a reliable tp from April to August this year… Why did you have to ruin it?

(Not sure if this is any use but the tp processes that terminate making the tp fail to work appear after reopening the crashed client, of course they have appeared at the wrong time and they just terminate when the game loads up.)

This is one part of the mac beta that hasn’t hurt me too bad, I’ve rarely crashed from bosses and other big pve events, do get bad lag and game freezes but that’s never been just a mac issue.

Support have been useless at best with me, haven’t had a proper response though I submitted tickets last week. At the moment one way to get the utter garbage tp is to bin the bin folder, that may cause a few problems the next time you boot the game up though, if so just delete the bin folder again. Having to delete that folder every bleeping day or even several times a day is stupid though but for now that’s the best workaround for me.

So :-
go to the applications folder
show package contents for the game
open the folder then open Resources
open transgaming then the next folder
open GW2 and bin the bin folder

Another solution is bin the new tp altogether and bring back the old one if possible!

Do open tickets on this matter, hopefully with many disgruntled customers they might actually do something! For people with consistent tp problems since last week (95% of attempts to start it up have crashed my game) to save some heartache run the game in windowed mode if you are attempting to tp, at least when it fails it’s quicker to reboot the game or give up altogether.

What’s next, you level up and instead of your progress bar just flashing and the sound, you get a GIANT dialogue box blocking your screen saying “CONGRATULATIONS, You are now level X; You have gained a LEVEL!”

I don’t understand why you would clog the resources, and it IS graphic intensive, of the game and peoples computers(whom by most account are mostly running at base spec)… for a trivial and unappealing, and completely unnecessary update.

Well put, the friends I’ve asked that like the new tp aren’t very system minded people at all, that’s cool being mechanically minded does have many drawbacks, as I see here much frustration (I see and agree with all of these) but yes I quoted this comment as it really sums up my opinion of the ‘new and improved’ tp, using rich text and more colours, yes artistically it’s ‘better’ but for sure it is hogging more resources and delivering less, it’s at least double the clicks needed to work anything, as with when they changed the Hero tab and Traits, taking away the drop down for traits as well as not defaulting to Equipment when hitting the H key…. The new tp crashes my game almost every attempted use, main crash report I get is timed out creating browser view or something, which leads me to think the needless waste of resources to boot it up causes it (The coherent processes that are necessary to get the tp up keep committing suicide on my end for some reason). Could all be avoided if better consideration of efficiency vs whatever they’ve tried to do here, there’s a reason why data applications such as spreadsheet software tends to not be glamorous!

Am sick of the ‘improvements’ this year with GUI… BBC.iplayer’s website’s new UI is awful, yes ‘looks’ nicer but needs new pages to be opened for tasks that appeared in a panel with the previous design, also less useful information is displayed now…. That joke of an attempt at a space shooter mmo Star Conflict, every patch this year has ruined the UI in some way, making functions less intuitive and… well that’s another game and makes this game look professional…

I second being able to keep the old tp, as the new one crashes many people’s game often and clearly the new tp needs much work they should let people use the new one at their own risk, labelling the new tp a beta. Whatever problems the old tp gave me & it gave me plenty, it never crashed my game!

Very irritating, a terrible feature indeed. The universal access for the guild bank in WvW was very handy for when travelling across Tyria, not needing to go all the way back to LA & back, unnecessary wp fees. Yes I fear it’s also an attempt to bully people to part with gems for ‘convenience’, ruined LA’s guild access is awful, why didn’t they just put the bank and guild bank next to each other as it used to be?

Several days ago, have sent many in game as well, haven’t been quiet about it so Anet should be very aware of my problems! As I’ve heard bleep all from them directly I am not happy.

Did get some response but no solutions, found one myself, set the coherent.exe to open with GW2, not sure if that does anything but my tp has worked well since and have had far less crashes afterward and even some game improvement.

I am having problems with the trading post, the first time I try to open it, it just loads forever, whenever I close and try to reload it my game crashes. This has been happening for the past three days.

I thought this problem was less of an issue now but seems to persist at busier hours, still waiting to speak to support about this as suggested by Lacey, a prompt service hasn’t been realised that’s for sure. I give this new tp 1/10 at best seeing as that’s my success rate at getting the thing to work to the closest 10%

May be jinxing it but only had 1 crash yesterday from the tp, seems to be improving. Support finally tells me they will get in touch, let’s hope. I am not using any antivirus so baffles me too. Actually yes the max/minimise did make the tp work once for me. The old tp for me was pretty unreliable at least till April’s feature pack.

Windows 7 is also 64 bit, as are the OS X’s from Lion and onwards incase you don’t want windows 8.

Worst case is your machine’s failing as my laptop did, does this happen with other games or graphic intensive activities like HD videos?

Take a look there and figure out which one is going to be the best for you. Just make sure you do a time machine backup first I would hate for you to lose any of your files!

Seems to be a bit better, the tp processes aren’t committing suicide all the time now but tomorrow is a new day, we’ll see if that holds.

Really wish when they say megaserver it means the game can accommodate far more players smoothly, foolish dream… The 1st WvW season was pretty good don’t recall crashes even after hrs of some huge fights (Though skills might get stuck etc), not the case for 2014. I’m with you on that, seeing as the big stuff in the game tend to need big numbers, they do need to vastly improve the game when dealing with huge loads.

I don’t feel ashamed of the conduct of the complainers, even if I did it doesn’t change the duties of support, which are to read every post and to give adequate feedback. I can appreciate it’s not an easy job, customer service certainly isn’t my forte from experience.

Breaks don’t help. It appears to be cumulative. The only thing that prevents crashes is restarting the client periodically (which doesn’t help in queued zones like WvW or world bosses).

When I said break I meant closing the game or even the machine.

One more thing is that the mosaic crashes seems not happen again. It was very annoying when the screen becomes mosaic, game would crash soon.

From the horrid nightmare of my previous laptop the sony vaio, that was the last machine I used mainly before joining the right side of computing that is Apple… Those messy colours are super bad, wasn’t too long after I was getting them in a game that my vaio kept crashing and not be able to work outside safe mode for long, later it won’t get past startup anymore…. Sometimes, if the client or my mac feels I’ve played too much, particularly wvw my map will have messed up colours… The map itself is very poorly made, the zooming is wasteful on the processing and has caused me many crashes last year.
