They got absorbed into the Guardian, I expect. The Guardian’s spirit weapons appear to be a blend of the Ritualist’s old-school spirit weapons and summoned spirits.
@Konig: Hmm, that’s something I actually hadn’t considered; that the Foefire might not just have created the ghosts from humans who were alive at the time of the Foefire, but also those who died long before it. If so, that might explain how some ghosts, as you pointed out, seem to have conversations that logically would have taken place a long time before the Foefire actually occurred.
Either explanation works, I guess. We’ll just have to wait and see if more information on this ever becomes available.
Thank you for all the information, Angel!
It’s always wonderful to get more data and perspective on the inner workings of Tyria and its denizens.
Are you suuuuure you can’t share Caithe’s secret with me in PM? I don’t mind spoilers at all, and I’m used to keeping secrets.
That still wouldn’t help. People would then accuse ANet of being evasive and wishy-washy, or that they refuse to commit themselves.
There’s really no way they can win.
Be patient. I’m sure the logging and mining tools will get their day in the sun during this sale.
Actually I don’t recall them ever saying the Halloween skins were once-off event drops at all.
In any case, I wouldn’t EVER bet on an item never coming back. Back during Flame & Frost, Colin did once say that he didn’t envision the Jetpack ever being released again as that would impact on its status as a prestige item, and yet lo and behold, it got released again during the Battle for Lion’s Arch.
The only guarantee in the world of business is that if there’s enough demand for something, and people are willing to pay, it WILL come back.
@sorudo: If you’re complaining that prices for your gems are still too low, well, just continue to be patient then. The median price for gems has only ever gone up since release. Thanks to the 2nd Anniversary sale, it’s been hitting record new heights almost every single day.
For me, my sell point was at 10g for 100 gems. I cashed out a few days ago and finally got my Emperor title in the process. I do wish I’d been a bit more patient seeing the prices now, but I won’t let myself regret it. If anything, I’ve set a new price point for myself now at 15g for 100 gems; if it gets to that point in the future, I’ll sell some more gems and buy myself some fancy new skins. (I still want Immobulus some day.)
Yes. The Consortium sickle is actually slightly faster (about 0.25 second faster) than the other sickles. However, it’s not really enough of a difference to really matter if you like the animations of the others more.
Hmm… -looks at his measly stockpile of 40 chests-
Nah. If the Halloween weapons are indeed coming back, I’ll just sell them when the patch hits. Prices might go even higher if they are, and if prices go down, eh, I’ll just hang onto my chests for the odd time when I get a Black Lion Key.
The trouble with that is that, as Colin explained, when you make announcements, and then later have to change or dump those plans because of unforeseen issues (would affect the economy/launching game in a new region/turned out to be much more difficult to implement than first thought), you will have players who snatch up torches and pitchforks and accuse ANet of broken promises. It’s the same negativity, just in a different form.
I do agree that it would be nice to know what ANet is working on, but generally they will only tell us what’s coming when they’re 90% (maybe even higher?) sure that it will be released.
I expect to see:
1. Mini Mystical Dragon
2. Birthday Booster
Anything else is up to speculation.
A free Black Lion Weapon ticket would be nice though.
I like the idea.
It’d be useful to know whether or not the devs are aware of serious bugs or issues that will be addressed down the line.
Cantha.

I do agree that an option to disable seeing Commander tags (off by default) should be included to prevent the possibility of players just griefing in WvW or in town maps by just cluttering up the entire minimap with Commander tags.
I bought my tag a few days ago, but I haven’t even turned it on once. I bought it solely for the reduced price before it goes up to 300g, and also for the very rare occasion when I’ve been in a quieter EotM map and nobody was able to tag up. (It’s also helpful sometimes to lead newbie players to specific areas in open world maps when they can’t find something.)
Nah. I’d rather have the SAB loot system, where you can:
a) Run the dungeon several times until you have enough tokens to buy an account-bound version of the skin. Rewards dedication
b) Do the dungeon and hope to get a lucky drop (these Rare skin versions are sellable) from the chest at the end of the dungeon. This preserves the “windfall” feeling. Rewards luck
c) If you absolutely hate doing the dungeon, you can just buy the skin from one of the lucky players from option B. Rewards your work from other areas of the game/gem buying, which keeps ANet in business
And it’s not just for dungeons either. One time I was forming a group for SE P2, and then some moron joined the group, merged us with another guy who was looking for a Dry Top taxi, then left the group. It took us a little bit to figure out what happened, and the Dry Top guy didn’t take it well. (I think he reacted poorly, although his frustration was understandable.)
I think a lot of us struggled with our first fight.
On subsequent runs, I learned to stay to the sides of the chamber where most (if not all) of the dragon’s attacks can’t hit you, and you only have to deal with the Tendrils and the odd Mordrem spawn.
That is correct. You get 1 Pristine Fractal relic for a level 1 – 10 Fractal, another 1 for a level 11 – 20 Fractal etc. etc. If you could do up to level 50 Fractals, you could technically get all 5 Pristine relics in a single day. But most players will do it more slowly.
My Charr wore his full battle armor to the party. “You got a problem with that, meat?”
Hmm, question. What do people feel about the idea of having the sandstorm events spawn only once per hour, but the harder events give more Geodes/Sand + possible Lockpicks? This way, there’d be less emphasis on farming respawning profitable events like Dust Mites and Haze, and more time to do events like Giant and Skritt Queen (with now bigger rewards).
I would actually be really, REALLY happy if ANet wrote the HoM scrying pool back into the story via LS2.
Heck, let our character turn it into our new base of operations for the Biconics! Taimi can do her research there in complete safety as I think nobody in the world apart from our characters has been there in hundreds of years.
Not that I know of off the top of my head. The Master of Peace is the leader of the Zephyrites, but I would assume he would have sub-leaders in charge of the various airships, or perhaps a Master of Lightning/Sun/Wind that is the greatest champion of their particular skills and is responsible for training other Zephyrites in their use.
This is a rare but known bug where if everybody runs inside the boss room ahead of Rox and Braham, the fractal sometimes gets bugged and does not progress. To avoid this, always have one person stay outside the room and follow Rox and Braham inside once they arrive.
Yeah, that Heart is more annoying to complete than most due to the fact that, as part of the Ogre Wars meta, the area can get stuck in a permanent “safe state” where the ogres never come back to retake the area (it happens if the Vanguard get bugged out and do not join the assault on Foulbear Kraal, which happens often), and thus there are no mobs in the area to kill that counts towards the Heart.
It sucks, I know. Unfortunately the only workaround for it is to open the instance yourself.
“Fur” could also be extremely fine filament spores.
Hmm, I’m not sure I agree with the “acquiring a Precursor should be almost incidental” bit. I’d like the Precursor to mean something. It shouldn’t be locked behind RNG, but the player should acquire it by doing something of note in the game, such as completing “Weapon Master” in the appropriate weapon, or defeating a series of powerful foes (similar to the Gauntlet) and then getting to pick a Precursor at the end as their reward. (And of course, if the player simply cannot beat the “gauntlet” for whatever reason, they can always just buy it from the TP. The increased supply should help keep prices reasonable.)
Aye. I’m pretty certain that this change was at least partially driven by the goal to sink a large amount of gold from the game.
I don’t disagree with the above, but how exactly would you determine a “reasonable amount of effort”? I’m sure that I have enough in-game wealth that, if I liquidated all my assets, I could buy a Legendary outright. I’ve taken part in just about every aspect of the game (bar high-end PvP), but I’ve also sunk a lot of hours into GW2, probably far more than what one might expect from a steady player.
Removing rank will not fix this. The r80 has the Legendary Champion title and a dragon finisher. Should we remove those too?
That’s a good point. And if they WERE removed, you can bet players would be complaining that they now can’t show off their titles and finishers.
If we want to fix team stacking and Autobalance Wars, we need to address the fundamental reason people are doing so in the first place.
Well, that depends. Is her name “Princess Miya”?
All evidence points towards that, unfortunately. We see several unnamed mobs in Ascalon talking to each other, so they’re more than simply magical copies. In the AC story intro video we see the foefire stripping the souls from soldiers.
But are those TRUE conversations? Or simply magical constructs repeating a message over and over like a record? For example, you can meet the ghost of Captain Calhaan who recites the exact same words he says to the PC back in the Great Northern Wall mission, and the person he’s talking to also says the exact same line the PC said. Since our GW1 PC’s most likely did not die in the Foefire, how did the ghost Calhaan’s talking to know what to say? That made me think that the secondary ghost, and possibly even Calhaan himself, are simply like a holographic recording replaying a momentous scene taken from Calhaan’s memories when he died in the Foefire.
Actually, that got me thinking. We have Sylvan Hounds, right? Could the Mordrem Wolves simply be corrupted Sylvan/Nightmare Hounds? The Mordrem Wolves do seem to have “skulls”, but we know that sylvari physiology mimics that of humans in that they also possess “skeletons” formed from wood and bark. Might the Mordrem Wolf skulls possibly just be skulls formed from wood?
There’s no reason to worry. The tickets themselves, once claimed, can be saved and redeemed at any time. If you are eyeing one of the Mistforged weapons, you can just accumulate your tickets from week to week until you have enough.
I just join the zerg or pew pew from the walls with my Longbow or Arrow Cart. XD
I hope that ANet has taken into consideration the possibility that, with the much shorter match duration, queues for populated servers may be so high that players could be locked out from participating. If the weeklies can be completed solely in EotM, then that would solve all issues.
I highly recommend against stacking on BG. If that happens, it’s likely TC and JQ will just team up again to smack them down.
What JS might mean is that more information is coming very soon. Remember how he told us that there are changes to the way the MF works in the pipeline? They might be part of Week 3’s update in the Sep Feature Pack.
I’m a bit disappointed that you can’t discuss the Watchwork Pick and it might mean for future gem store tools, but I guess I can understand the reason for that.
If you would like to be a Commander one day, I strongly suggest picking up the Commander Compendium now while it’s still only 100g. After Sep 9th, the price will permanently increase to 300g.
Most outfits are here to stay permanently and can be purchased at any time. They might even go on sale now and again.
Thanks for the heads-up, Vol.
Neither a buyer nor a seller here, but I always like keeping informed.
Huh. I haven’t done the calculations, but I was under the impression that the Spinal Blades backpiece was still the cheapest option provided you go with Leatherworker for the Gift of Blades. (The personal grind needed to get the Vision Crystal, of course, may alter your decision.)
Yes. Based on our feedback, ANet is scrapping the original proposal of “300g for extra colours” and giving all Commanders, even old ones, free access to the 4 colours.
I bought my Commander tag last night.
You can try talking to Moto in Rata Sum, but I’m not sure if he still accepts Baubles. Worth a shot though.
It will almost certainly be a Mini Mystical Dragon for the mini. We’ll likely also get another Birthday Booster. It’s anybody’s guess as to what else is included.
SAB CDI, Chris.
Just sayin’!
Yeah, I’m still waiting for those tracks to be released too.
Not supported. Jellyfish have no eyes and thus can’t be blinded. Therefore, they would be OP.
Yeah, I’ll grant that as a whole, the MRA movement is likely more harmful to society than the “femikittens”. Individually though, I doubt that most MRA men actually do very much. I liken them to other bigots who badmouth their targets, but rarely, if ever, actually take concrete action.
