1. Buy an Augur Stone with the 20 skill points you get by levelling up (Augur Stones are account bound and a key element in ascended crafting)
Huh. I can’t believe I never thought of that. Thanks for that tip, Gorani! As someone who plans to outfit all 5 characters in all-Ascended gear one day, those XP scrolls actually could be useful now.
Leave it in place. Add new functionality that allows corpses to be continually damaged to prevent ressing in combat.
Being able to reset points at almost any time would probably be abused: Got the guard stacks? Fine, now redistribute to carry more supply, after picking up supply, redistribute to siege abilities.
But reset by speaking to an NPC near spawn would be really nice.
That could easily be fixed by having the guard stacks vanish if you swap out the WXP points to something else, similar to how sigil stacks disappear if you swap out the weapon.
However, your idea about speaking to an NPC in the spawn point to reset points is a fine compromise, and one I would support.
Hehe, my moment was when I was running my Ranger up behind the keep. I saw Svanir about to die, took aim with my Longbow and fired from beyond 1500 range. Hit and killed. +25 points to Blue! I bet that Red Thief who was fighting Svanir was so annoyed. XD
If I recall correctly, Malyck’s pod fell from his tree and was carried away by a river, resulting in him being born far away from his tree. From that, I presume that if the pod is in a late enough stage of development, the pods can indeed be separated from the tree.
SPOILER: Abaddon did it!
Chili Peppers and Lemongrass should maybe get a look at, in my opinion, but I agree with JS in that it’s not really a “problem”. (Just like how cloth prices aren’t really a problem, despite me grumbling about their price.)
The reason why Vanilla beans got adjusted two years ago was because they are used as base ingredients in many recipes. That’s not really the case with Chili Peppers or Lemongrass.
Yes, that really surprised me too. O.o Did China get the Mini Mystical Dragon? Or is it still unavailable for everyone?
Cloth (and leather) are much harder to farm directly, as you’ve discovered. Your best bet is to buy items that salvage into cloth, such as light armor, or items that can drop cloth, such as loot bags.
As to why Ascended armor needs lower level mats, it was actually a clever way to ensure that low level mats would always be in a demand. Otherwise, you’d end up with a situation where as players all levelled characters to 80, nobody would need jute or wool or cotton etc. anymore, and you’d just get massive stockpiles of these materials on the Trading Post that no one wanted.
I don’t have a problem as I created all 5 of my characters on start day, and still play all 5 to this day, but I agree that having it account bound wouldn’t cause any issues as far as I can see.
I think the change is good. We just need greater protections against unjustified kicks now. Increasing the amount of votes from 2 – 3 would be a good start. (And yes, I’m aware that the devs have said that the code structure makes this not easy to do. But I’m hopeful they can come up with a solution in time.)
I’ll reserve judgment for how it all plays out, but on the surface, I will say that being able to freely leave the Fractal to go repair, and the dungeon not closing when some PUG has a hissyfit and ragequits, are both huge improvements in my books.
I don’t believe that pillar spot in AC P3 is a safe spot. Not only can the boss still attack you there (including knocking you back out into more dangerous areas), but it’s also a way to ensure that Grast stands close by and keeping the party close together within his shield. It’s really no different from everybody stacking up against the wall to achieve the same purpose.
Jumping up onto the staircase so you can attack the boss while he stands there and looks at you? THAT’S a safe spot exploit.
Put simply, it was too long and too hard for too little reward. I enjoyed the dungeon (although I wouldn’t run it regularly), and it appeals to players who like a challenge and diverse boss mechanics, but if the complaints about the World Summit boss are anything to go by, it was way too hard for the majority of the game’s players.
You’re talking about the Maw Svanir world boss, right? The music track is called “Scales of Issormir”.
I’ve seen T6 only once, but T5 a couple of times when the map was organised. I don’t see it as a huge deal as you can acquire all the components from T4 onwards, although it will take you more grinding to buy at lower tiers. In time though, as player interest moves on, I agree that ANet should perhaps look at lowering the requirements for T5/6 as you need a near-fully capped map in order to get that kind of success.
Could you give more details about that build? I’ve been struggling to find a good niche for my Mesmer in sPvP. Ideally I want something that utilises Scepter/Pistol or Sword + Staff (as those are the weapons I most enjoy), but I haven’t had much luck finding a decent build that stands up in most matches.
4. GM whisper text is golden; not purple.
This is REALLY interesting to know. I’ll be sure to let my guild know about this if they ever encounter a situation with someone claiming they are a GM.
I’m still waiting to see what else is announced over the next two weeks. Some changes announced so far are welcome (WvW Fall Tournament, account bound Commander tag, world-wide guild bonuses), while others don’t affect me.
Still, the potential for something as massive as the Wardrobe to come is still open.
I’m hoping they’ll either become stackable with last year’s scrolls OR, preferably, they’re going to get a makeover in the “Fresh Start” update that’s being announced in a few days.
Noooo! If I want to feed my Fluffikins birthday cake 6 times an hour, you let me do it! >:(
I’m a bit surprised they didn’t make it work like the Feasts though. Throw the cake on the ground. If people want it or want to override their existing food, they just run up to it and press F. If they don’t want it and want to keep their existing buff, they don’t.
It’s also worth noting that most Asura want nothing to do at all with being on the Arcane Council. They see it as a burden and a distraction from their research. Which means that those who ARE on the Council usually either hate their job (Phlunt), or they want to exploit it for their own benefit (Yahk).
One other option they can look at is having a system similar to how upgrades worked on Hero armor back in GW1. Put simply, you can use a salvage kit to salvage off the upgrade (with the usual chances for failure), but success simply means you get back the upgrade. The armor/weapon itself cannot be destroyed or broken down for mats.
Issues with Lightning Pull stopping early (or overshooting) are usually lag issues. There’s not much you can do about it except hope you get into an emptier instance with less players around.
Who knows maybe the pets have their own secret wallet stashed up with all that karma and gold. :P
This reminds me of the GW1 days, when it was known that additional party members meant less chances for personal loot rolls. We used to joke that the Heroes and henchies probably had massive stockpiles of Ectos, Obsidian and black dyes (think the GW1 equivalent of Abyss dyes) in their inventories.
I tried out Mantras but couldn’t get “into it”. :/ The damage and utility always seemed so lackluster compared to phantasms and shatters. (I did enjoy the little lines my Mesmer yelled while pre-casting them though.)
So I’m guessing it’ll be BG, JQ, TC, SoS, FA and ??? for Gold League NA again?
Question: Does the last “hit” include Svanir/Chieftain dying due to conditions? Or must be an actual weapon hit that does him in?
I actually hope the result of the above is that the Starcake recipe becomes available again. I still want it for my Chef’s cookbook.
The only way this would be introduced is if too few people buy Transmutation Charges as opposed to farming them. I don’t have access to any numbers, but I’m willing to bet that they DO make a decent bit of people customising their look. As such, odds of us getting an item like this (as much as I’d like one) are extremely low.
No, it is not reportable. The official stance is that dungeon selling is allowed as long as no exploits were used to complete the path. Exploits include glitching out of the map (such as under it) to avoid mobs, using exploitable safe spots where the boss will just sit there and do nothing (this is different from using LoS to pull the boss into locations more favourable to the fight. I’m talking about glitches that actually stop the boss from taking any actions whatsoever, like bugging out Mossman in the water), and flat-out using hacks.
Now, that said, I think it’s fairly obvious that while it is allowed, ANet doesn’t particularly LIKE dungeon selling. They do not like the dungeons being “trivialised”, and their stance seems to be that a player should actually DO the content and not just pay someone to do it for them. It’s just that they can’t really crack down on it because if someone is good enough to legitimately solo/duo a dungeon, they haven’t done anything wrong. Likewise, if they were to open up their spots to others, and these others want to “tip” the person, it’s not actually wrong either. (If it were, then people offering tips or gifts to another player out of gratitude for helping them out would also be illegal.)
I completed P2 5 times a couple weeks ago. Didn’t run into any issues.
- When clearing the 4 Champs, the last one we kill is always the one closest to the gate (it’s the Champ that spawns additional adds)
- After Tarleov becomes an ally, we follow him as he walks to the rock. Kill all mobs along the way. Note that some groups, once killed, spawn additional groups. They do not keep respawning infinitely.
a) First group is 4 Excavators near the chest in the center. When killed, no additional mobs spawn.
b) Second group is 4 mixed Dredge a bit past the chest. When killed, 4 more Excavators spawn.
c) Third group is 4 or 5 mixed Dredge near the rock Tarleov needs to get to. When killed, 4 more Excavators spawn.
After those groups are killed, no more mobs spawn and Tarleov should walk to his rock and mine it. (Note that, like all NPCs, they automatically leash back to where they were when they entered combat before resuming walking.)
Canach is an anti-hero. He seems to suffer from the same inferiority complex that a lot of Secondborn suffer from (Cadeyrn, Scarlet) in that they feel like second favourite children compared to the Firstborn. This experience has made him a bit bitter and willing to go to greater lengths to distinguish himself, although at heart I think he still wants to be “good”.
I think he’ll do well under Anise. Anise herself wants to do what’s right for Kryta (and others, if it won’t conflict with Kryta and humanity’s well-being), but she’s willing to stoop to underhanded means to do it if necessary. She sees in Canach the same mentality and thus has taken him under her wing.
O.o
That’s… actually pretty darn handy. +40 to all attributes is a nice buff.
… Wonder if it works on Necro minions too…
It’s not. As Palador said, if you already have an existing food buff on you, you will not be able to eat the birthday cake to get its buff. (Which can actually be a bit annoying if you want to replace your current lowbie food buff with the birthday buff.)
Maybe the birthday cake should be changed to function like feasts. If you want to eat it, run up to it and press F. If you want to retain your current food, don’t do so.
These are some interesting ideas, but I fear that making dungeons harder would be counter-productive. Make them TOO hard and it will just turn off the casual crowd, resulting in less people doing dungeons. In time, ANet looks at the metrics, sees that only a tiny percentage of people are doing dungeons, and decides that it’s not worth it making any more new dungeon content. We’d only be hamstringing ourselves down the line.
I’ve been rolling around some ideas myself. I’ll see about making my own post when I’ve structured it better.
That would only work if there are sufficient people clicking “Play Now” though. How many of you guys actually use that button? I always go into specific arenas that are less than 10/20.
Yeah, I really do think they need to bring back larger teams, at least for Hotjoin. It’s been noted before that a 4v5 match is a 30% loss in power for the shorthanded team, but a 7v8 team is only a 13% loss in power, meaning it’s still possible for a 7v8 match to be fairly close if there are more skilled/experienced people on the shorthanded team.
ANet will definitely need to choose. But what they could do is that, every week, they put up a list of the 5 most popular topics and then get the community to vote for what they’d like to see discussed next week. That way players still feel like they get some say in what happens.
These need to be craftable to higher levels like agony infusions. 2 level 20 scrolls gives you a level 40 scroll, 2 level 40 scrolls gives you a level 60 scroll, 2 level 60 scrolls gives you a level 80. If you have managed to accumulate 8 characters for a year, you have probably earned an insta-80.
Now this is a feasible idea for a compromise.
Hopefully someone at ANet spots this.
As someone who runs a condi Mesmer build, I’m eagerly anticipating the change to Scepter. However, as I mainly do PvE, I’m expecting it won’t actually affect me that much since mobs tend to aggro onto my clones and thus don’t run around as much to maximise the damage from Torment as they would.
I’m considering bringing out Illusionary Elasticity for another test run now that the clones work properly though.
I’ve got a running bet with my friends that at the end of ASoIaF, the White Walkers break through the wall and kill/devour everybody. Eternal winter descends upon the world. All life dies. The End.
The books are a metaphor for the inevitable victory of entropy in the real world and how, millions of years from now, the Universe itself will die and there is absolutely nothing we can do to stop it.
Oh, so the Birthday Blaster gives you additional buffs? Hmm… I might need to revise my initial appraisal then.
“kitten, we can’t beat Mai!”
“Hang on, guys. I got dis.” -fires cake- “Eat up!”
Oh boy, they don’t stack? >.< That definitely needs to be addressed.
And since they’re account bound anyway, ANet, can’t you just make them give you +20 levels instead of raising you to level 20? Seriously, anybody who’s been around for 2 years (or even 1 year) is more than likely already going to be higher level than that. And if they haven’t created new characters by this point, I doubt a new scroll is going to tip them over the line.
Huh. You don’t even get the Mini Mystical Dragon?? O.o I was so sure that was going to be in it.
As to the rest of the stuff… Meh. I’ll just go back to what I was doing. Do we at least get another 1 AP out of the Veteran title?
Psht, Batman. I’d rather be Doctor Manhattan.
Traditionally WXP points have always been reset with the start of a new tournament. I don’t think this will be any different this time around.
The picture on Snopes’ article about the ice bucket challenge sums up perfectly my thoughts about it.
