Totaly confused by the blog.

If anyone can answer, i’d have 3 questions:

1) can i equip minis from the collection without using inventory space?

2) can i use the same mini on different characters without buying more than 1?

3) will it stay equipped after i change map/istance/on Death ?

Thank you

1. Yes. You can now “equip” a miniature from your Wardrobe.

2. Yes. All miniatures can now be unlocked for your account. This destroys the mini, but it unlocks it in your Wardrobe and can subsequently be equipped by any character on your account.

3. Yes. Once equipped, the minipet will be automatically displayed whenever you enter a new map. It will continue to be displayed until you unequip it. Presumably it persists even through death.

No information on whether this means that all miniatures can now swim.

As I said, I’m one lazy skritt. I find having to constantly carry a “spare” tool and revisit merchants to restock to be tiresome and a waste of my time. (And because I do a LOT of harvesting, this happens very frequently.)

I’d rather pay a premium to do it once and then never bother with it again.

So essentially you get achievements for being a hoarder?

Yep. And it sure makes this old hoarder happy.

And from ANet’s side, it gives players more hooks to keep them playing, and will help increase demand for mats.

Actually, Argon made a good point. It could result in players deliberately exploiting the system to duplicate items. (Even non-major stuff can get pretty pricey, like Pots of Lemongrass Poultry Soup. Or Foxfire.) And if the system got adjusted so it only gave you trash and blues, then… what’s the point?

So yeah, it’s not gonna happen.

Yeah, I calculated that I still need 1500 Bloodstone Dust to finish off Mawdrey. Ever since reaching 450, I’ve been slowly refining Bloodstone Dust into Bricks (along with various other T7 mats) in a slow climb to 475. (I’ll need a LOT of T7 mats to fully outfit my 5 characters with Ascended gear, so none of this is being wasted.)

Now I have to remind myself to keep aside some of my Bloodstone Dust stockpile for Mawdrey and not just burn through it every day.

I can understand the reasoning behind that, but no need to feel sorry for me. I bought the extra sets fully aware that it was a terrible financial decision (especially once the tools became account bound). But for me, the convenience of not having to manually swap the tools between my 5 characters was worth it. (I’m one lazy skritt. XD)

Of course, if the tools gained that extra convenience of being account wide, then the convenience I paid for is gone and I’d be looking for my refund.

Fossilized Weapon Recipe

in Crafting

Posted by: Zaxares.5419

Zaxares.5419

yet another example of why all learned recipes should be account-bound.
currently, all recipes are NOT account unlocks – they are soulbound. so your huntsman charater does know the recipe to make the dagger, he just can’t use it unless he becomes a weaponsmith.

I wouldn’t mind this. But I’d also be happy with a compromise where if a character tries to learn a recipe that he is not capable of using (either he doesn’t have ranks in the crafting discipline, or he has insufficient ranks), a window pops up saying, “You do not have enough ranks in Weaponsmith to use this recipe. Are you sure you want to learn it?”

It would just be a good safety net to help catch accidental uses.

Yes, they are permanent additions to the game.

Which is why their price will only continue to fall as time goes on. Supply will keep on being injected into the economy, but the vast majority of players are only ever going to craft Mawdrey once (for the skin, and for Mawdrey II).

“Fractal Weapon Collector.”

I can just imagine the tears now. XD

Anyway, I greeted this announcement with a mixture of great excitement and dread. On the one hand, I’m already a collector, and it has been one of my goals to slowly unlock all the dungeon armor and weapons. (I’ve already completed numerous weapon sets, such as the various Cultural weapons below T3, all the Beaded weapons, the Lionguard weapons, Ebon Vanguard weapons etc.) So, it’ll be nice to get some extra rewards on top of the collecting satisfaction.

On the other hand, I’m already addicted enough to this game as it is. >.> More goals = more time sinks. My backlog of “other games to play” is going to get even longer!

That’s one thing I really liked about the way you convince Knut Whitebear at the Summit, actually. If you’re a Norn, you can remind him of what it truly means to be Norn; taking on what seems like impossible challenges, all for the chance to gain immortal glory, even if it means your death. (For if you fail, at least your attempt too will go down in legend.) For too long, the Norn have taken a more pragmatic, cautious approach, hunkering down and fighting off the Svanir and Icebrood. It’s time for them to live life on the edge again, savoring each moment of life as if it could be your last.

For we are Norn. And that is the Norn way.

Dry Top Events Could Use A Balance Pass

in Living World

Posted by: Zaxares.5419

Zaxares.5419

I think the new ones are generally well balanced.

- Rustbucket is pretty straightforward.

- Defend the camp from Skritt Thieves may need a bit of tweaking, as it scales up rapidly. When you have upscaled Champion Skritt Thieves, it’s pretty dang hard to kill them before they escape with the supplies. Maybe cap their upscaling to be Elites at most.

- Escort Ewan is fine.

- Gather Beetle Remains for Soup is fine, once players learn how to deal with Beetles.

- Experimental Inquest Suit is fine.

- The Giant Beetle event during the sandstorm is also fine, once players learn how to stand in front of it. However, perhaps it should spawn a bit earlier, as it’s generally ignored by players due to its late appearance (they’re all already busy doing another event).

Yeah, that information on the wiki is outdated, but no harm done. During the Tower of Nightmares LS chapter, you could indeed find Toxic Seedlings throughout many different maps, but after the chapter concluded, they are now only found in Kessex Hills (natively), and in a handful of maps with Toxic Offshoot events (the event must be completed before ONE Seedling spawns).

I do sometimes get that feeling too. I don’t believe it was intentional, although I am a bit surprised by it considering one of the biggest lessons ANet learned in GW1 was how many, many, MANY players hated seeing Ascalon get destroyed in the Searing, and some players refused to leave Pre-Searing entirely.

I suppose minor destruction and changes are acceptable, if they can be restored to their former glory.

They could easily fix that by adding a couple of Toxic Seedling nodes to every open world map. (Lore explanation: “The Tower of Nightmare’s destruction blew millions of spores far and wide, some of which are only just beginning to germinate after being carried on the winds halfway across the world.”)

It might even increase supply of Toxic Spores since not many people generally go to Kessex Hills.
