Not seeing your own mini is something that should be addressed. But not seeing other people’s minis when culling is in effect? I can support that. You already have other players being replaced with low-res models when too many players are in the area; their minis disappearing is no different.
By the Six, having that as the unlock item that would be horrible indeed.
It may be that there is a specific item you have to unlock first before the collection itself is unlocked. Unfortunately, we have no information at this stage as to what that item is.
If people can provide more information on this, it’d be much appreciated!
I guess it’s a mixed blessing that there isn’t a Fractal Weapon Collection. On the one hand, it won’t drive us collectors mad. On the other hand, if there was a collection, we’d have a stronger case to argue with ANet for a more reliable way to acquire specific skins.
As far as I know, you do not need to have any effect (or Poison) on you to drink the nectar. It may possibly be a new bug introduced with the 9/9 patch. (Quite possible, as the patch altered many core rules behind bundle items and interactions.) I’d report it as a bug both in-game and on the Bugs forum and hopefully you’ll get a response.
Yeah. Personally I appreciate the extra time to devote to WvW S3 and Halloween. Plus working on all the new collections.
They confirmed that the missing idle animations was a bug.
Mawdrey II is not a backpiece. It is an item that sits in your bank/inventory that you feed Bloodstone Dust to for extra items each day. It cannot be worn or infused.
“In Fall” was their official answer. My guess is that it will start up again after Halloween (4 weeks of WvW S3, and then 2 – 3 weeks of Halloween ending on 31st Oct).
Called it!
Glad to hear it’s just a bug too! Little things like this do make a big impact to immersion.
I do agree that some of the restrictions (like not being able to gather till level 9) should be permanently removed from your account once you’ve seen them once. Seriously, I have 5 80’s and 18.5k AP. If I decide to create a new alt, do you seriously think that I do not understand how to gather or salvage by now??
While I’m wincing at the new prices as much as any of you, people really need to take a deep breath and calm down.
1. Keeping the news mum until release wouldn’t change very much. Whoever was first on the trigger would STILL buy up as much of the newly desired item as he could, as fast as possible. People who were asleep/at school/at work at the time would STILL miss out, and they’d be complaining. No matter what you do, somebody will always get the jump on the rest of the market.
So yes, I agree with JS here. Once the information has been released to the public, whether it be via an official statement or through exclusive previews, whoever puts in the most effort to keep themselves informed and educated deserves to reap the benefits.
2. Be patient. Prices are only so high now because players are impatient and want the new stuff ASAP. (Why? Just because you want to be the first with the new skin? If so, then you need to decide if the jacked up prices are worth that privilege.) If players everywhere all agreed to hold their ground and refuse to pay, the sellers will start to undercut each other in an effort to get buyers, and prices will return to normal.
Not to mention that since many of these items come from world events that are done all the time, supply will keep on coming in. You only need one of these items for the collection, and eventually supply WILL outstrip demand.
3. I won’t rule out the possibility that some people MAY be doing inside trading, but we’d need to see clear evidence of it before accepting it as truth. Lots of times, price spikes are due purely to speculators gambling on the possibility that something will be required and buy up a large amount. Other traders see the sudden drop in supply, think something is afoot and hop on the train as fast as they can. This then leads to a self-fuelled price spike based solely on somebody’s guess that something will be in demand soon. The higher prices are unpleasant for real buyers, but there wasn’t any sinister plot going on behind the scenes; just fear and panic.
If people WERE doing inside trading, then I trust JS’s statement that they have systems in place to catch and punish these individuals.
Wait, what? Gathering is locked till level 9? Salvaging is locked till level 12? O.o
What the…??
At the very least, these restrictions should be lifted for veteran players. >.>
Really? That’s interesting… That tips it more into the “probably bugged” territory. Hopefully it’ll get cleared up soon.
If you’re going the farming route, I echo the advice of farming Flame Legion. They drop not only bags with linen, but also direct cloth salvage items. (As compared to dredge or Inquest, which drop metal salvage items. Bandits/pirates also drop cloth salvage items, but those enemy types in the right level band only spawn during certain events, which makes them unreliable.)
Agreed. I’m sure this must be a bug or an oversight. (Like how Jewelers initially couldn’t refine Sheets of Ambrite for Nomad’s jewelry due to the refinement recipe not being available for Jewelers.) Wait for ANet to patch it.
I suspect this was done because the costs to craft the Exotic level backpacks is far, far less than acquiring the old level 80 backpieces. This way, it still encourages players to buy level 80 backpieces from the Temples, or go for Ascended versions.
It really annoys me too though.
Screenshots have indicated there will almost certainly be Black Lion weapon collections. (The one I saw was for the Winter’s weapons.)
It’s rather funny actually. I see a lot more people displaying “God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals” than lower tier titles like “Chosen” or “Flameseeker”.
But..but…I’m number 467! lol
Yeah I don’t love the leaderboard. On the other hand, it gives competitive times something to do. Keeps them playing. Might as well leave it and ignore it.
Out of curiosity I looked up my ranking on the Leaderboards. Apparently I’m 683.
It’s an Exotic staff with a unique skin. (One of those GW1 skins.)
The reason why it’s account bound is because it was one of those few Exotics that had a Magic Find stat. When MF got removed from gear, Delusion gained the ability to let you select its stats when you equipped it. However, that same update also made it account bound, so it’s now no longer tradable.
Well, it seems there will be a new Ambrite Weapon Collector achievement (the reward for which is an Ascended armor chest), so maybe those Fossils will have a use now? (I’m glad I didn’t trade mine for 3 lousy Sandy Bags of Loot each!)
This is for PvE, yeah?
I run a 2/0/2/4/6 staff build with heavier emphasis on Arcane skills. My utilities are Arcane Briiliance, Arcane Wave, Arcane Power/Blast (if I’m feeling lazy)/Radiation Field (if I want AoE Weakness) and Glyph of Storms. I usually take Glyph of Elementals for my elite skill.
The general strategy is to round enemies up and make them sit in your AoE’s while Burning+Bleeds+Poison(sometimes) eat them alive. Use Glyph of Elementals if you need something to tank for you while your conditions/DoTs kill them. If you need healing, swap to Water Attunement, drop Geyser and fire off Arcane Brilliance. If you have 2 or more enemies around you, this combo will basically heal you back up to maximum.
Cultural ARMOR costs gold. Cultural WEAPONS cost karma.
In DR, the 3 Cultural weapon vendors are standing near the entrance to Queen Jennah’s palace.
Note that the T1 and T2 Cultural weapons (for all races) can be easily acquired from the TP or other options. Only the T3 Cultural weapons (as a general rule) must be purchased from the vendor (at 63k karma each).
Send me your Dragonite!
“Night time” for you is daytime for someone else.
Huh. So it looks like they will be introducing Black Lion skin collections after all.
It depends on the quality of the rank up chest. Small rank up chests (gotten during PvP levels 1 – 10) mostly drop T1-2 mats. Medium rank up chests (from PvP levels 11 – 30) drop T3-4 mats. Large rank up chests (levels 30+) drop T5-6 mats.
It’s 200 gems per episode.
If a key is just awarded at level 10 (as in, the level up bonus, not doing the PS), then I have about 16 level 20 Experience scrolls wildly cheering at me from my Bank…
And actually, aren’t some Exotics ridiculously expensive anyway? Like Infinite Light or Immobulus? I reckon those skins would be an excellent reward for crafting 18 Ascended armor pieces.
Well, at least this means I’ll finally be able to pick up the Genesis and Lord Taeres’ Shadow skins for free.
For completion’s sake, I hope that Mawdrey (or another item) also gets the ability to consume excess Empyreal and Dragonite in the future.
Good luck (and profits) to the speculators.
As for me, if those screenshots are indicative of the amount of mats we’ll need for the backpieces, thanks to my hoarding I expect I’ll have more than sufficient supply to craft all of them the very first day just to unlock the skins.
1. Sylvari can and do have sex. They have fully functioning genitalia, but are sterile and incapable of reproduction.
2. Sylvari can and do eat. They are capable of photosynthesis, but this is insufficient to provide them with the energy for the kind of active, mobile lifestyle they enjoy. Sylvari can root themselves and survive off photosynthesis in truly dire situations, but they are essentially comatose and helpless during such times.
No information is provided on whether or not Sylvari excrete solid waste though, although my presumption is that they do. (Otherwise their bodies would just build up with indigestibles over a long period of time.)
It does potentially open the “p2w” can of worms, which is why I think it quite unlikely that we’ll have collections like “Fused Weapon Collection” or “Biconic Weapon Collection”. That said, we MIGHT have a small achievement like “Owns X/5 gem store skins” that gave maybe 10 AP at best.
As others have said, I’m pretty certain that most of the devs have their own personal accounts for playing the game. I, for one, wouldn’t want to be bothered by non-stop PMs and mails when I just want to do AC or map or run around in WvW.
Some of the POI’s hold special significance to GW1 players. (e.g. Old Lion’s Arch fountain)
Some of them you can work out the significance by talking to nearby NPC’s (e.g. Aliyah’s haunt.)
Some of them are pretty self-explanatory (e.g. Jormag’s tooth.)
But, that said, I do think your ideas about having a “lore journal” that provided little tidbits on the different POI’s as you explore is a neat idea and something worth considering if the devs have time.
I’m pretty sure that can’t be right. The Personal Story starts the moment you create a new character, and it wouldn’t make sense to just have new players be dumped into the open world with no direction of where to go and what to do. More likely you get a “block” of 1-10 PS from character creation, and then a 2nd block of 11-20 when you hit level 11. It just so happens that if you complete the 1st block and you’re still not level 11, the 2nd block won’t fire off.
I agree that the limited time sales are annoying, but extensive marketing experience shows that they are the best in terms of encouraging customers to spend, so it’s not going to change, unfortunately.
That said, it’s practically guaranteed that the Biconic weapons will come back for future sales, so just keep some gems stored and ready, and an eye on the gem store.
As a GW1 veteran, I’m eager to see if there’s any plans in the works for Guild Halls.
Buy all the T3 Cultural skins. That will consume almost 6 million karma.
That does seem illogical, but look at it from the other way. If completing the Ascended armor trilogy set guaranteed you a Precursor, wouldn’t players then be complaining that they’re “forced” to craft Ascended armor to get their Precursor? (Not to mention it would make Silk/cloth prices even more insane than they already are.)
Already gotten my Mists Stone (have a nice stockpile of Pristine Relics), but I just wanted to commend Sarahfull on doing this.
It’s always nice to have veterans help out and teach the next generation of players.
I give players tips on what skills/traits are helpful in certain dungeons/Fractals if they seem to be new, but I don’t mandate those skills, since I run non-meta builds myself and it would be hypocritical. (Usually for these dungeons, I will usually bring the class most crucial to success myself to fill the role, like how I always use my Mesmer for CM, or my Ele for AC.)
Usually even sub-par groups will get through the content eventually. I’ve never needed to actually kick someone; often the problem fixes itself when the player who isn’t pulling their weight ragequits.
So THAT’S why me cheering at them on my burly male Charr Warrior had no effect! Even when he took his breastplate off!
This is how events played out (leaving out actual dates since I’m too lazy to go trawl through GWwiki right now):
1. Charr attack Ascalon for a long time with no success thanks to infighting after the Khan-Ur was slain and the Great Wall of Ascalon.
2. Flame Legion discovers the Titans, comes to power.
3. Titans give the Flame Legion the Cauldron of Cataclysm. FL uses the Cauldron to summon the Searing. Great Wall of Ascalon is breached.
4. Charr devastate Ascalon (although resistance continues for at least another 50 years), push on to Kryta and Orr.
5. Vizier Khilbron reads the forbidden scrolls, causing the Cataclysm. Orr is destroyed and sunk. The bulk of the Charr armies dies in the Cataclysm.
6. Saul D’Alessio finds the Mursaat, starts the White Mantle. With the help of the Mursaat, Kryta repulses the Charr invasion.
7. The Charr retreat back to Ascalon, where they continue trying to defeat the last Ascalonian resistance.
8. Approx. 20 years after the Searing, Ascalon City finally falls. King Adelbern breaks Magdaer and summons the Foefire.
9. Around this same time, Gwen and the Ebon Hawks found Ebonhawke, the last remnant of human sovereignty in Ascalon.
“Burn down. Burn out. Sand and rocks and water spout. Make the fire die, die, DIE!”
No prizes for guessing which map I’m currently mapping.
This was a dream that people who wanted to see the Abaddon fractal had. The idea was that, since the Fractal was about the fall of Abaddon (the actual final battle where he gets defeated by the other 5 gods), we, the five players, each get transformed into a giant avatar of one of the Five Gods and we duke it out with Abaddon.
