I would disagree on racial elites being junk. Many of them are quite good. Sylvari’s plant roots is known to be amazing, my asura guardian uses series 7 attack golem as his elite and i got no complains about it’s attacking power, and as human…well not there yet to just throw 30 sp to the dogs…but once i do…..flaming hounds form hell!
Everyone knows best way to chase off a cat (especially 2 meter + ones with horns) is a good rabid dog! or TWO!

In my opinion, the combat system is so unattractive

Guild Wars 2 is about exploration, and that directly impacts the “issues” you guys named here.

The reason you can’t do “the superman” in lower level areas with higher level char is because of the “do what you want where you want” approach of this game.
You scale down to lower level area but also it’s rewards scale up to you (least exp wise), so endgame is not few high level maps, and 95% of the world you’ve no longer business with, but you can go anyplace, do what you like and still get some meaningful rewards, other than charity to low levels. Also prevents trolling of low level players by some op guys.

Same for dodge mechanic. There’s far more ways to defend yourself and some spicing to dodges and endurance itself, but that takes some exploring in your hero panel, seeing what your traits, weapon and slot skills can do for you.

My warrior for example has a counter attack skill with his offhand sword that blocks one attack and does a nasty payback with 4 staks of bleeding over a small area. That’s no dodge yet it defends nicely. As a warrior if i focus on defence i can also plant banners that will grant regeneration over a very wide area, activate short invincibility, or knock them down rather then them knocking me down. Oh and on down i can self rally with a skill rather then hope on winning a losing fight (Vengeance). With proper trait it’ll not kill me as long as i kill something in that short “last stand” revive.

In my view, the Trinity Needs to Come Back

I very much like the idea that as a warrior i can ressurect anyone i see along the road, that i have banners to aid my party or can immoblize opponents running after a weaker member, asides just jumping in there and doing damage. And that i can heal all around me one way or another (if even by trait that makes my banners give regen).

I can only imagine the horror of downed player hoping that guy running his way is a priest, or a boss party trying to kill a champion with evil stares from mile away cause no priest/tank happened to be in area…

To do what you want on any char you want wins me over bigtime, and all that while keeping characters unique and each a different flavor! and as trinity it’s not gone, it just pulled the stick outta it’s you-know-what, and with proper player skill and setting traits, you can be nearly any of the roles on any of the classes.

For me GW2 is like that a trip to the tropical islands. It’s fun, beutiful and relaxing.
But you really understand how epic it is once you go back to those dark damp places when “you’re not job x”, “how much dps?”, “What’s your hp”, and other old game design horrors.

January monthly achievement, are you serious?

Last time i checked “casual” and “achievements” weren’t to be put in one sentence.

Casual players enjoy the game as they see fit, achievements are for those who want to dive in deeper, throwing harder challenges and sending them to new areas to know the game and their character better.

And let’s not forget it’s a monthly not daily. I can imagine during a month you can run around in quite few places to visit those jp, and do some events/harvesting/materials farming on the way from one to the other, without spending a fortune on way points.

Breaking the Blade, you can get past this?

You’re suffering from thief syndrome. It’s really easy to die as a thief if you don’t focus on evading damage.

I can add on top of what my forespeaker said:
My thief is dual gun, and a off hand gun has great ability – black powder shot.
It blinds your opponent, and creates a field around you that will make your regular shots blind her each time you fire, and regenerates very quickly. You will have access to that blind most of the time.

Also you can go into stealth and fire regular pistol shot for awesome 5 hit 5 stacks of bleeding combo

If going gets rough, be creative:)

I wish they changed the skin of the t3 heavy helmet to match the Guardian class picture on GW2 website (main picture when you go to Guardian page)

-1!

That shredder looking helm is AMAZING!!
Keep it that way A-net! now i’m really thinking of human guardian/warrior and i already have an asura guardian that i love to bits!

Totally against it. The idea about class is that you make your difficult choice with it’s pros and cons and stick with it, learning to use it’s strengths better and compensate for it’s weaknesses. The climb to the top is very essence of the game. You don’t monkey jump from Mount Everest to K2. You either climb it to the end, or start from bottom up with a new challenge. Else you’d see 1000 rants about game being too easy, too short etc.

Asura will never wage a war on any other race as only a skritt-brained imbecile would go about killing all the useful slav…reasearch speci…erm…our two – legged, quasi semi-intelligent wild life forms known as humans, norn and the slightly less mentally debilitated sylvari and char.

The asura are here to bring peace and order to the whole world and push it to new heights through study of eternal alchemy with help of human speci…friends!

Please keep those icon border colors away from me. I dunno for other people but i absolutely LOVE the artwork used in trait panel and it’s pretty clean and lean to me.

I want my traits to be blue for guardian green for necro etc. Do not touch what is not broken visually wise.

I love the attention to small things in this game, especially some npc lines:)
Yesturday when my durmand priory member guardian stopped over at hoelbrak’s vigil station it didn’t go unnoticed by the vigil’s recruiter who mocked me for being a scholar and i mocked hem back promising to misspell her name in history books.

Someone accuallly cared to have the npc notice which order i’m part of and insult me based on that. LOVING IT:)

Now what i want is more of this and with a twist. Today i went to do questing in lvl 15-25 or so map for asura, and i find durmand priory camp stationed on the south-west part of it. Now instead of greeting me as fellow researcher they just give me the usual lines that probably all other players get.

It would be awesome if i would get warm welcome or some minor insults based on which order i’m in, accually going as far as rewealing unique, hidden part of GW2 lore if i’m member of their own order, while giving only barebones information about the quest to rest of players.

That would greatly add to immertion and feeling of unity and purpose with your chosen orders. So if possible make sure there’s more order based talk from members of vigil, durmand and whispers:)

Oh come on, this is ridicilous. That’s hardly an insult. And remember races in tyria aren’t all lovey-dovey. He can be having some roleplaying fun. Any asura calling people “expandible”, “shrimps”, “skritt brained”, “temporary two legeed setbacks” or “best helper with 80 IQ he had” is either a jerk…or a npc;)

Just in case some don’t get sarcasm here, a little verbal thrashing between the races might be part of roleplaying fun and feeling into your race, as well being bit teritorial. A simple retort will do, no need to go all in tears and report his rear left and right.

When someone calls you real names, that’s when you report, beast of Caerbannog;)

How can you not love experiments on every step and if something blows up…well it was for the good of science;)

Also nearly any quest involving asura is filled with tons of fun, humor and sarcasm, and the way their ears flap while they run;)

Not to mention nothing beats running around as asura and calling rest of your party “shrimps” or “sidekicks”.

Did i mention quest where you “find” “volunteers” for “safe” experiment among the scritt? Most evil fun ever!:)

Oh and their maps…beutiful. Jungle + high science works for me;) Rata Sum is awesome!

Why more people don't play Charr - The Simple Answer.

ZeftheWicked.3076

I agree on the quest problem. At lvl 13-14 i couldn’t find a quest for my charr at ashford plains. I know i’m missing one heart (maybe that’s the one), but it is bit tricky for a charr to advance to 15. Also the next map in line is near start of ashford plains while your 14-15 leveling takes place at end of it…right next to high level map where you get smeared;) Well no one said war is easy;)

Now i should go and scout more around for those quests and maybe npc that warns you about the next map being a “suprise”, if not it should be suggested to put one there;)

There is an clear result of choosing a deity as human – in your skilltab.
My human got his chosen goddes skill to unlock in slot skills. It’s not balthazar for sure, it’s the goddess i chose at character creation. (skill removes conditions).
I think also there are racial skills as well.

My sylvari necromancer has “seed turret” skill. I don’t think other race necromancers have that.

orders racial instructors

Not that i mind twist on a story but i am dissapointed with fact that the order instructors of our race that introduce us to orders and their ways go puff after you sign up for good with your order and don’t seem to show up more.

As an asura i gotta say that all 3 asura representatives looked great and had quite the amount of charisma to them and it’s a real shame they’re there for so short. Seriously. Those characters deserve much more spotlight after the potential shown.
I’d love to do more conversations with cute order of whispers spy, hear witty and grumpy lines from durmand priory instructor, or good old door kicking with vigil commander. It feels more personal to me when as asure i get asurian instructor and it’s the guy i got to know and like a bit (or a gal;).

Maybe it’s no loss for other racial story lines but asura sure got instructors i’d love to see around and talk with more.

Better controls

ZeftheWicked.3076

Hi i’m a relatively new GW2 player and it’s awesome. However there is a major crack on this diamond – the controls. Guild Wars 2 is epic because it takes so much of old MMORPG garbage and makes it fun, meaningful and not a chore.

But the first thing that greets a first time player is a fist in the face in form of horribly stale controls. By that i mean viewing/turning mechanics. It almost feels like i’m playing one of earlier Resisdent Evil games. Ofc that’s partially on my side, as i use touchpad not mouse, but still this can be done way better. Just take a look at how Vindictus did it.

Turning around and rotating view should be instantenous, intuitive, and always accessible. Because in combat you need to see what’s going on around you and turn immediatly to face the thread. Also the ability to move around while attacking loses alot witout simple and responsive controls for that.
