Very happy that Anet made this decision and set a precedent.
DnT was given a great opportunity and privilege to be recognized and improve the game, and they paid back Arenanet and the community with unprofessional and childish behaviour.
Distancing themselves from such immaturity was the least Anet could do.
What better place than here? What better time than now?
Warrior, with it’s abyssmal skill floor and low skill ceiling, is filled with passives so new players can pick it up, get a feel for the combat mechanics and easily contribute to w/e they are doing.
Please, tell me more.
If anyone wonders why there is a lack of warriors, its most likely because it’s gameplay is boring.
Huh-huh.
It all requires minimal thinking since all of the skills are fire and forget while most of the traits play for you
Right. Sorry for saying this, but you sound like a delusional thief player that hasn’t played Warrior recently, if ever. And I’d like to say that’s a first, but I’d be lying.
Warrior has never been easy in PvP, unless you’re playing against fresh new players that barely know how a dodge button works. They’re an open book for most decent players making it the most easily counterable class in the entire game and required constant mindgames and fakes to actually do anything.
I say required, because even that’s completely pointless now.
Thieves definitely aren’t in a good PvP spot right now, but Warriors are at the point where the class itself is completely redundant. They have absolutely no role whatsoever, and even the little they can do is completely obscured by pretty much every other class.
The entire pvp community perfectly knows and acknowledges this, so if you honestly believe that the outcry about the Warrior is over-exaggeration, you plainly prove to anyone that you don’t know what you’re talking about.
That said, fighting for which class is worse is the stupidest argument one could have.
Both are in need of help, and both hopefully will get it.

I don’t know about you guys, but I think that pic is a bit too OP.
They should probably blur it a bit to make it more balanced.

The Largos time will come. You just wait.
What better place than here? What better time than now?
As people have previously stated in this thread, they’re basically lottery tickets. Except instead of getting nothing, you always get some decent stuff out of it.
Buying one every once in a while and trying your luck is always something pretty fun to do, even though I would advise against buying bulks of them and expecting a gain. A friend of mine gets a key every now and then, and ended up uncrating a permanent hairstyle kit just a couple days ago.
And hey, there’s always ecto gambling if you really want to waste your money and get absolutely nothing out of it. :P
What better place than here? What better time than now?
Literally nobody actually believes that Warrior is an easy class in PvP.
When Anet mentions that “Warrior is easy to get into” it’s because a lot of their skills are pretty straightforward and work really well in PvE and sometimes even in low tier PvP.
But anyone with some actual experience knows very well how easy they can be to counter and how hard they are to play effectively against skilled opponents.
And that “hard to play effectively” straight up turned into “you better hope the enemy team has no idea of what they’re doing” after HoT released.
As it stands right now, playing Warrior/Berserker is basically playing at a disadvantage.
What better place than here? What better time than now?
Hopefully Arenanet will hear the obviously extremely valid feedback of that Dragonhunter and set things right. We wouldn’t want Warriors to dominate pvp after all.
What better place than here? What better time than now?
I don’t get why people are making out that warrs are like at the bottom of the pile now. They are still the fastest hard hitting class out there. I just came out of a match were the opposite team’s warr was chewing up everyone that came into his path.
Warriors are decently strong against low to medium skilled opponents, always been.
But in actual competitive play against people that know what they’re doing, they probably end up being one of the, if not the most easily counterable class in the game.
It used to be that good warrior players could still hold their own by focusing heavily on mindgames and fakes to put enemies’ counters on cds and/or focusing on the support aspect, but now even that is pretty much useless.
Most other professions can support better than the Warrior and even if you do manage to waste the counters your enemy has, their cds are so short and their options so many, that if you’re not absolutely perfect in your execution it won’t mean anything.
There’s a reason why Warrior got a very low presence in recent pro events, with Berserker not showing up even once.
What better place than here? What better time than now?
For not being a full-on balance patch, those new buffs to berserker are definitely pretty nice – even if they’re definitely a bandaid more than an actual cure.
The problems of the Berserker are poor synergy with other trait lines and the inability to pick it up without losing incredibly important core specializations, without which they end up severely underperforming. The damage numbers themselves aren’t really the problem.
Still, props to Arenanet for proving to us that they definitely still care about Warrior.
Here’s hoping this isn’t all the fixing we’re getting for the next six months. :P
What better place than here? What better time than now?
Again I hope a dev takes the time to look this over and realize that they have made a mistake and try in the future to make things right. Else I don’t see the game lasting too much longer.. aka here comes GW3!! yay!
Honestly I can’t really see the mistake you’re talking about – the new expansion adds stuff for basically every kind of player, and that’s really what Anet needed to do – only because they decided to make the wvw and pvp maps available to everyone doesn’t mean it’s not new and interesting stuff.
Surely you wouldn’t have been happier if they gated those behind the expansion price.
If anything it seems like a very player-friendly move from Arenanet, instead of a mistake.
But yeah, as I said you can very easily keep playing the game without buying the expansion if you’re strictly only interested in the pvp/wvw, even though you might be at a small disadvantage for not having access to the extra build options the elite specializations offer.
In any case you’re in no rush to buy the expansion, so you can just keep playing and enjoy the new stuff you already got for free.
What better place than here? What better time than now?
I’m sorry, but the tl;dr of this seems “I don’t really want to bother doing any of the new stuff, so there’s nothing in it from me”
In which case yes, there is nothing in it for you.
-
The post also seems to have quite a bit of misinformation, so let’s see if I can actually clear some things:
- I don’t really see why you’re only counting the non-new zone masteries, since if you have masteries at all it means you own the expansion, and thus very much need the Maguuma masteries as well.
- Precursor crafting was never intended to be a shortcut to a legendary – or they wouldn’t be legendary at all. It’s simply a surefire way to get them without having to pray to the RNG gods for a precursor drop. Also they don’t really work like that.
- Elite specializations aren’t only for the new zones. Also I’m not really sure what you find confusing about them, but I’m more than happy to help if you have questions.
- You seem to be looking for a single feature that is supposed to be worth 50$ on its own, even though for 50$ you get tons of them, not only the 1 new class. (which is amazing btw)
- Guild Halls are for actual, you know, guilds – not really for 1-3 people. Maybe you should try joining an active guild – not only it’s incredibly easy to do so, but you’ll have more fun playing in a bigger group, and you’ll have access to all the guild-related content.
- Honestly, not only I find the amount of content in HoT completely worth the price, but I also kinda feel like talking about pricing in GW2 is kinda crazy when put in prospective – no MMO out there offers this amount of content for no added subscription fee. Not to mention that the expansion content itself isn’t everything you’re getting – much more is going to come in the future updates.
All this said, if you’re mostly into pvp/wvw you can very easily focus on those and ignore the rest, and you don’t even need the expansion to do that, since the new wvw maps and the new pvp mode are available to everyone.
What better place than here? What better time than now?
The fact that Berserker still has 0 working builds, and even the test ones are barely as good as the old Warrior ones really speaks volumes. No wonder it has also seen 0 use in recent professional events.
Berserker simply doesn’t offer enough to warrant considering it as a trait line. Either some mandatory traits in the core specs need to be made baseline to give some more flexibility, or Berserker needs to be rebalanced to actually offer something worth the loss of some of the other fundamental specs.
It also doesn’t help that Berserk mode itself isn’t really that appealing: you’re basically burning three bars of adrenaline for the chance of using fairly mediocre (Arc Divider is awesome tho) burst skills in sequence, and some minor buffs if traited for it.
The Torch is actually the aspect of the specialization I have the least amount of problems with, it does what it’s supposed to do.
Overall I like the idea of the specialization, but the execution easily brings it down to the most underperforming elite spec by far, even below daredevil.
From what I’ve seen a lot of people have simply abandoned the Warrior and rerolled another profession (hopefully trimming down the hefty warrior population wasn’t the aim from the beginning) and it’s kinda hard to blame them.
In the end, I know I’ll still play my Warrior to hell and back, but it’s undeniable that it’s in need of serious help, and the silence from the devs is kinda worrying.

Saying that a weapon is OP because one of its skills is temporarily bugged is completely ridiculous.
Also trying to defend something clearly OP saying it is not is completely ridiculous.
If you’re honestly suggesting that rifle outside of Gunflame is OP, you make it painfully obvious to anyone that you have no idea of what you’re talking about.
Then again from your post history you appear to be a thief player on a petty personal crusade against warriors, so I guess I’m just wasting my time.
What better place than here? What better time than now?
And i think that’s why there are tons of rifle war out there playing “duck hunt” , because rifle sucks.
There are tons of rifle war out there because Gunflame is currently bugged and hits twice.
I thought that was pretty clear.
Saying that a weapon is OP because one of its skills is temporarily bugged is completely ridiculous.

This is supposed to be a continuation of the main game, yet the open world content right now feels almost less challenging than vanilla GW2. The game itself needs to feel like a climb to new challenges, not a plateau of the same stuff.
I hope the massive outcry from the community is making Anet reconsider these changes to the open world, because if this is the direction that they intend to take, it might very well ruin the expansion.
What better place than here? What better time than now?
The general consensus is that axe offhand is underperforming in pretty much every area.
5 is usually a dps loss unless you’re hitting at least 5 enemies, and 4 does mediocre damage and grants fury, a boon that is easily obtainable in other ways.
It doesn’t offer any utility, and doesn’t output enough damage to make it worth it. Especially when the competition is Sword, Mace, Shield and Warhorn, which all excel at either damage or utility.

Easy. I would become a living Nicholas the Traveler.
Each week I’d travel to a different region of the game, requesting specific trash items from people. Then I would reward the first few players that manage to find me AND give me the specific items with valuable materials, or gem store items, or straight up gold.
I.e. I’d give it away. I feel like just buying stuff straight up without actually earning it spoils a big part of the gameplay. Plus it would be fun as hell to play the part of an NPC.
What better place than here? What better time than now?
Truth is, condition damage at the moment is plain rubbish compared to direct damage.
Sure, conditions ignore armor and keep damaging the target even if the user is incapacitated, but at what cost? They have a cap which makes them awful in dungeons or when focused fire is needed; They can be cleansed before they do any actual damage; They’re unable to crit; and finally, since they obviously need more time to do some comparable damage, their DPS is quite weak.
As it stands, the Necro’s DPS and utilities just aren’t up to scratch as a whole.
What he needs is either some form of condition-based burst to help with its DPS, or something really desirable that makes him useful in group play.
By combining the two, an idea springs to mind:
An “Unholy” (I’m terrible with names) status that makes afflicted mobs and players take damage from every healing skill used by allies AND enemies near them. This could not only help the DPS of the Necro, but also give another source of damage for its allies, effectively filling both of the problems I explained above.
It would add some strategy in SPvP, since people would need to carefully calibrate their own heals to avoid damaging an ally affected by the condition, and it would help keeping the DPS up even while healing in dungeons and general PvE.
Of course, there would still be the problem of it being possibly too easy to cleanse, and based on the duration it could be either really powerful or really crap. But I think it could change the gameplay in an interesting way and make some abilities less spammable.
