If people are reviving in the middle of a fight, punish them with AoE.

But if downed state were removed:
= No more low lvls in WvW (lot less people in general).

- Shorter fights.

- Theves and big spike damage would be nerfed.

- Massive advantage to siege weapons.

- Almost impossible to attack mass fortifications (like cannons + arrow carts) head on.

Taking fortified positions except with trebs/catas would just be a kittentorm (even more than it is already) and then siege weapons would be nerfed next.

The game just isn’t balanced for downed state to be removed.

Nope, down state is one of the things I like about this game. It adds so much more dynamic to team fights than just spike damage or AoE, which is what every other MMO does.

I can’t imagine WvW without downed state. I guess it would be a lot shorter fights and a lot more running from the spawn to get to the fight = not good…

Fully agreed with OP and most of the posts here. We need better options for gear and/or money/loot for those of us who love WvW or even play this game ONLY for WvW.

SPVP just got a new map right? There’s always new PvE content with every event. But in general there’s a lack of Dev attention on WvW.

Why, for example, remove Orbs of Power entirely when they could have done something more fun and interesting that doesn’t affect the balance of a fight like changed them to increase gold/drop rate in WvW for the server that owns it. But no, they take the lazy way out because WvW is not a big dev priority?

I was discussing this with a friend when the tri-forge pendant was discovered though I was not aware they had made this an official stance.

I think they are going in the right direction though. As long as they keep this new gear within reasonable reach of the average player, there should not be a significant issue.

The problem with a model of gear where stats are the same and only appearance changes is, although it’s very balanced, there’s also a sense where there’s no more character developmenet, no more getting stronger or moving forward. To an extent, this goes against the appeal in an RPG and part of what makes it addictive.

I appreciate GW2 for how innovative it is on many fronts but sometimes with innovation, it turns out not to be the right direction.

As far as I’m concerned, a new tier of gear is a good direction to move in and as long as they keep the gem shop on the sidelines, I will continue to play and appreciate this game.

Meh. I enjoyed the philosophy bits but actually the single standard starting time is the most utilitarian way!

For anything else, at what point in inconveniencing the majority to serve the minority could you draw a line and say it’s ‘fair’? Should fair mean sometimes inconveniencing 1000 players for 100? No, there is no other point.

Given that the resource itself (time) is constant but the number of people it can satisfy is not, it shoud always be the time that satisfies the majority of players.

I do agree with the above poster though, events and event phases should just be designed to last at least two days to minimize the inconvenience to certain zones.

For tactical reasons, any change in how catas and arrow carts AoE through doors should come with a massive boost to oil. Like making it a significant percentage of the gate’s strength which in turn would change the focus to killing the operator, rather than killing the oil. As stated above, oil is currently almost not a factor.

The “outnumbered” buff should buff stats. Not enough to fully cover the disadvantage in numbers but enough to be competitive.

If ANet “fixes” the thief issue they are just lowering the skill bar for this game.

There is nothing hard about finding a thief and dealing with him/her. Posted in countless other threads about this issue. If you don’t know how it works don’t complain about it try to understand it and deal with it.

Take it from a fellow thief who also plays warrior, it’s not about knowing how it works. It’s a mechanic being too strong. For one, there’s no visual indicator when you hit a stealthed character.

These hackers are pissing me off… Just tonight I saw 3, possibly 4 of them (only got 1 clearly on fraps due to late recording). It’s all the tele-move hacks that bots were using before too. 1 of them, maybe 2 (2nd was inconclusive) even did it while downed.

Not even sure what to report them for, I choose botting… I’m also not sure if it’s acceptable by forum rules to post a link to my video which does show 2 account names (from the report interface).

Not generalizing to the rest of the server but those 3 or 4 were EBay. If you guys see any from Maguuma hacking do us all a favor and report those ……….s as well.

I didn’t get on till late Friday/AM Sat when about the only thing we held was our EBG keep and a tower or two. At that point we (some of the other mumble crew) organized a huge golem rush and quickly took SM at the cost of almost all the golems (10+ and I think 3 omegas). Honestly we were still facing huge numbers of EBay at the time and held off another 10+ golem rush at the SM lord a couple hours later but for whatever reason it seemed like we were far better organized at that time and it helped that people were putting down big investments in siege gear.

Not sure how we took the other borderlands since I was fast asleep by then but in the few weeks I’ve been on this server, whenever I’m on late we seem to have a weak night presence. Not to bring up old arguments but to say we won just from ‘night capping’ is such a cop out… We turned it back around overnight but then what?

Thief contesting points in stealth???

Agreed with OP.

Both capping and contesting a cap should be canceled during stealth.

I made a thief after my 80 warrior and have got several thousand wvw kills from each. I’ve been thinking the stealth mechanic in general is not that well balanced. There should be a very clear visual indicator when hitting a stealthed character (not conditions, only direct damage). Of course it should not unstealth them but it should be somewhat clear when you hit someone who’s stealthed.

Not a direct nerf but it would take out more of the cheese/luck gameplay that can happen when facing a thief that’s stealthing all the time. It would make the class actually require some good positioning and thought before you decide to move in for another stealth hit when your target/s already know you’re around.

I’m curious what this medium leg “armor” is and how/where to get it?

I’ve only seen it a few times in game and I couldn’t find it in any of the medium armor crafted/karma/npc models. I’m thinking maybe from personal story?

The screen is of a 80 thief.
