we need pvp servers,(like other game do) the othes players, who not feel safe with open pvp or feel like open pvp is too violent for them, there is not problem! they can keep playing into pve servers. Win-win.

IMO WvW is poor and basic, feel like a big arena, and arenas or tpvp are like league of legend kinda games, is not like clasic games like lineage 2 for give an example.
For us , the players who love open pvp and play since a lot of years, this game is not addictive, this game feels empty, like a easy single player game in coop mode with friends.
I feel like this game is more for kids than adults. Anyone who had played other mmorpg cant denied that, come on.

you cant have a nice pvp guild or be someone here, u just a number, part of the random zerg, and the guild are just like facebook groups…

I already checking others games… … but the true is, u can play ANY other game with pvp/pk/wars and u will lose nathing at GuildWars 2 since there is not endgame after u hit 80 (epic raids, skills, armors or weapons, wars or open world pvp) , u just need too connect for the events with the updates and done, no problem. condition dmg need to be nerfed to the grown, wvw will be a lot better then. I wish they give these condition class some direct dmg skills instead….

didn’t really had problems with guardians in wvw, i usualy watch for stability buff and use knockback from rifle then volley when stability is not on, in rest i use gs , whirlwind and hb. If he leap on me with gs and start his combo i will defenetly use hb since i output more dps then him

OP is right.
They did the game friendly for the random (casual) player, and in the process killed all what the hardcore ones want, but they know now that was a mistake… … the true is this, casual players are not the ones who keep this kind of games alive. A lot complain for empty zones, guess why is that.. duh..

All we need is time, and we will see if this is not true, a lot of players are hoping for some “course correcting” update…IMO this year will define the game.

We will see what happens in the next update, but dunno, with ther “small changes” policy I not hoping for much.

First, a short presentation.
I’m 42 years old, from Denmark and 10 years ago I founded a Danish guild, that count around 400 members today. Most of our members play WOW, some stick with SWTOR still, and then when GW2 released, we had 150’ish members, all 18+ ready and eager to play.
Our guild is mix hardcore-casual, 18+ and we have a high loyalty among our members. They don’t leave the guild, they just quit bad mmo’s, and wait for the next. Originally we were founded in SWG, grew in WOW, and played most major mmo’s since then.

1. Its a solo game, with lots of people playing together.
The events are great, but there is no need whatsoever, to have a group or a guild. There is NO reason to play in groups with others, you don’t need other players, as long as they are there, playing solo at your side.
The game is too solo friendly, and too easy. We are missing challenges in the game, that NEED groups and even Guild’s to organize and work together.
- Yes, there are 5 man dungeons, but there is no real reason to go down there. You can easily play to lvl 80 and skip the dungeons. And if you want to go, 5 man is easy to find.

2. Where is the Guild in “Guild Wars”?
Basically, this is the main issue, that our members stopped playing before the reached lvl 80. There is a guild function, but nothing you need a guild to do ingame.
We raised 200 gold ingame for 2 WvW commanders, but WvW is just a zerg where you dont need a guild. Running in WvW as a guild with a commander, just mean that we lead the zerg around.
Raids are needed in GW2, because with 10+ man challenges, you need better coordination, and then guilds have a purpose. As GW2 is now, its just a chatroom in a solo game.
We lost many members because there was no use for them. Most played solo, so those who were looking for group, ended up unanswered, because there was no need, no benefit for groups.

3. We are missing engame challenges, raids AND the grind for better loot.
Yes yes, I/we know. GW2 is a mmo where endgame gear stats are capped for all, and easy to get to. Its all about finding better looking gear, and stand out in the crowd..
- That is just fine, if Arenanet want GW2 to loose players all the time from boredom.

I agree with u, we are a OLD guild like yours and I feel ur pain. This game is not guildwars 2 is more like “randomwars 2”.
Guilds are just like a facebook group. PvP is safe for kids… We think the developers got PKed a lot at DAoC and they made the ideal friendly safe game for the random, and since they hate hardcore gamers they give the power to the random, so this is a game for randoms, and randoms will complain if they change the easy mode, and u can see there is a LOT of randoms here…

is not safe to play this game, when I hear of this I had no idea this was even a bug or xploit… now is like maybe they make another mistake like this and we will got punish because some bad Developer.

They are assorted classes two of them happen to be commanders and have led a great deal in the past few days thus it makes it more frustrating.

and then I think the warrior feels incomplete and weak. The warrior need the zerg, the guardian his group mates.

u want do that mass killing, guardian imo is better, u wanna go ranger well… ranger is better… I tryied lots of setups and find out warrior is kinda wannbe X CLASS. You can go direclty guardian or thief, and done.

Guildwars 2 for us, old hardcore players is like play a game on easy mode with trainer. Some future update will be like u wont kill mobs, u will pet them… and all armor textures will be unicorn or ponny like…

Everyone realizes this at some point and re-roll to Guardian (Defense), Thief (Burst), Elementalist (Defense + Consistent Damage) or Mesmer (Defense + Burst). Pve is not WvW or SPvP. Warrior may be nice at PVE, but at WvW is not good, and at sPVP is worst because u cant run far away to save ur kitten like in WvW LOL… if I want a build to make damage, heal, and do lots of nice stuff, but not be a glass, I just do a guardian and done. IMO is clear ANET have no clue what to do with warriors. “They can kill mobs and they can carry supplys at WvW so, is fine”

I am commander at my warrior, if not, I switch to guardian without question.

we hold the little tower in front of u respwan at EB for 3 hours +/-, that was a lot of fun for us trust me and I pretty sure was a lot of fun for the FERG who was there around, we even treb the door of ur keep (it was green) to help u guys out, and our “zerg” was only 5-7 players LOL…

but ofc, in the end we got pwned by the massive green cobra LOL u need to give thanks and credit to DR because they cleared us pretty fast with ther 3 trebs and his big fat zerg hahaha LOL, well, I think they cleared ur guys too, and the npcs, mobs, and anything moving around there…

Our guild is getting tired of some people from some “great” guilds at Kaineng who always try to boicot any effort with do with our 3 commanders. These people start to say in chat in any map we are on " dont follow them, they are only trolling" “follow xxx guild, no them” and stuff like that, just to boicot our group and made people to not follow us. You want other guilds to join WvW, but then u get mad because they try to help with ther own commanders, and u not like that. You no want to team up with the rest of the server. Keep doing ur “solo” kitten stuff, GL!

we no need to smoke this ####, is really just easy to find another server where we can have some fun, but then u cant start to QQ about people transfering away….

I played almost since 10 year ago: lineage 2 & Aion (other games dont apply imo, like apb, dayz etc) Guildwars 2 is awesome, but had a CAREBEAR pvp system and a powerless Guild system, I am a hardcore pvp player, and my clan is 10 year old, for me the pvp in this game is like it was kids friendly (PG Rating). Guildwars 2 is a PVE game with some friendly and familiar pvp system, so no ones get offended or sad….

Pve in this game is awesome , thats something.

Nuestro clan te ayuda a lvlear, con equipo, dungeons, etc. No vas a estar solo. El clan no es ni demasiado grande que no te dan bola y te sientes perdido, ni demasiado chico que no hay actividad. Es a la medida del gamer acostumbrado a lo que se veía en otros games. Donde tu logras conocer a todos del clan y el clan te conoce a ti y te ayuda. Donde formas una parte importante y tu sientes que realmente eres parte INTEGRAL del clan. It’s simple people join guilds only when they have banners active after that they represent another one that got banners … because of this people are joining 400 member guilds with everything usually you see maybe 30 of them representing …

guilds chats are dead … they are no guild activities no clan halls no guild only dungeons or events … that is major issue

it’s not that guild leaders want to feel superior but in past games guilds meant something … for example If anyone mention my guild they know we had great pre made pvp and top progress in raids
we went to bar together chatting and playing various games online etc … now gw 2 feels more like single player game than mmo …

My guild is into WvW each day, so, we think will be great if the keeps, towers, etc will give something to fight for… like, if u take a keep, or tower, u got for ur guild stuff, like in others games, like u can activate buffs for ur guild there (like the guild banners), spwan point with free armor repair, npc where u can buy siege stuff for influence instead silver/medals, guild stuff like some good skins or something, and it will be great if ur guild tag name display in the map when u put ur mouse over the keep/tower etc.

Then will be an incentive to defend it, etc. Now, is like running around taking points and done, is getting old after a while…

People likes the multiguild because for them Guilds are like facebook now. Guilds here are SOCIAL NETOWRKS, no GUILDS.
I find the guilds to be nathing more than a social club or something. I think the DEV was players who had a bad experience with guilds in another game, so they just made guilds like social networks. Guild system sucks in this game.

Here is my suggestion:

in the future, for the next design for future legendary , try to hire someone how like more medieval stuff, or something like that… and not just fans of My little pony, hello kitty and unicorns…

@antartis and zietlogik, If they start stomping you right when you go down and start stomping you again right after they get up from getting knocked by hammer, then no Throw Hammer does not give you enough time to vengeance, however not everyone starts stomping right away and sometimes there are other things around that preventing them stomping right away or stomping the second time. Regardless it would be overpowered if Hammer was 100% chance to enter vengeance every time because with my spec I can down and kill anything not named Mesmer after getting up from a vengeance (traited for 100% rally). If Hammer meant I could get into vengeance every time I wouldn’t be getting killed at all.

I just want the hammer to be AOE, kinda like the guardian push back skill, is ironic that 99% of our skills are aoe…but not that one… 98% at WvW there is not 1 vs 1… so the skill is kinda LOL there…. thats my point…

we are new at this server too and the server is fine. We have a lot of fun each night at WvW. I think thats the point, isnt? FUN.

..and btw, I think Kaineng do really well, the server is small, but I think we do like if we was twice the number…

The problem is with the balance. Vengeance is an extremely powerful ability. If you don’t get rallied in the 15 seconds it takes to come up, you have a free 15 seconds to take down your opponent. And with Warrior burst potential, that’s nothing to scoff at.

Then with your chance to rally on enemy defeat, or the associated trait, you may get to live on. Warriors are currently the only ones able to self-rally in the downed state, and that’s pretty huge. Buff their other two skills and it becomes ridiculously OP.

Also consider that it’s possible that the philosophy of the downed state is actually profession-dependent. It’s purpose might not be considered the same by the devs (this is, of course, conjecture on my part). But it does make a certain amount of sense to balance some professions such that it’s hard to get them down, and easier to dismiss them once they are, and to have some professions that enter the downed state more easily, but can melt faces while there.

When I look at the Warrior right now, I see a profession that’s super tough to get down, with very strong offensive, defensive, and control capabilities at any range, not to mention insane burst potential with most weapons. But once you down them, there’s a 15 second window where their abilities are vastly reduced. If you don’t defeat them in that window, you’re dead.

That sounds like a really powerful class to me. When I look at it in that broader sense, I’m not convinced there’s any problem here. If there is, then Vengeance really has to go before anything else is changed. I’d be sorry to lose it, because it’s amazing, but I’m not going to pretend like anything else wouldn’t be OP.

Just to add another example, because I’m kinda bored anyway, think about the Mesmer instead. They’re hard to get down because of their ability to control the battlefield, but they themselves are quite squishy if you can manage to watch your confusion stacks or catch them in the act.

Their downed state has to be appropriately powerful to compensate. But it’s not powerful in an untoward insta-win kind of way, like Vengeance is, but in the same way the class is—they are going to do everything in their power to control and befuddle you while they escape, and their downed state gives them three great tools for doing so.

I may not be right here—I’m perfectly happy to admit that—but I think people really need to take the time to wonder if the idea of comparing downed states in a vacuum is actually an appropriate representation of reality.

I’m also not saying balance is perfect by any means—it’s fully possible that, say, Throw Hammer does need a buff even with Vengeance as it is. I’m just trying to bring the conversation somewhere I think is more constructive.

yes, sure, because in WvW you always do 1 vs 1…. lol…. you always throw the axe and stop the 4-6 guys who want to finish u off…. and when you go vengeance you always have all your skills ready to kill with our “warrior burst” in less of 15 sec , before anyone else hit u….

Throw hammer is decent, I don’t see a problem with it. It’s single target, but it can buy you the time you need to vengeance or be rallied.

Warrior downstate IMO becomes a problem with vengeance. It’s great, fun, and harshly situational. Also the T2 discipline trait mentioned above makes it very frustrating.

Also, guardian downstate bad? When it comes to teamwork, which is supposed to be important for this game, it’s one of the best. As long as someone is there to rally the guardian and he is roughly above half downed hp, he will be rallied. Thanks to all that time they get after force pushing everything away.

you need to try WvW before post this nonsense. You can buy time in pve maybe… but try at WvW against many enemies, with pets, mobs, and stuff, and then comeback here and tell me how you “buy time”….
all is shinny in pve… but there is not single target at WvW… you can take 1 vs1 .. but thats pretty rare…

Warrior downed state is actually one of the best, mostly because of Vengeance, which is one of the best downed abilities there is. Most importantly Throw Hammer can give you the time you need to get into Vengeance. Yes, Hammer only works on 1 target, but honestly that’s fine, not everything is meant to be auto win.
