Finally, a response, thank you.
You should consider looking over the many, many ranger posts being made. I’m fairly certain a huge chunk of the ranger community are on the verge of throwing in the towel.

In fact, I haven’t played the game much at all lately.

7% less damage doesnt even include the lost damage to the obstructed messages you get when a single blade of grass floats in front of you.

Increasing crossfire time and fixing an audio bug?…an AUDIO bug??

I understand there are many bugs to deal with but how did these become a priority over the many other bugs rangers face?

Like my pet names disappearing, or call of the wild making your pet attack the nearest mob, or longbow damage being sub-par, or spirits being useless, or melee pets needing to be stationary before they can do damage, or pets never staying at my side.

I didn’t have a problem buying the level 40 book. I had a gold leftover.
I use waypoints all the time. Although I don’t craft and I’ve only bought a couple cheap auction house items. I only went into WvWvW once and the gear damage did suck, plus the game crashes on me due to the 32bit issue going on. So I never went back.

I just do all the heart quests really, and I sell any junk in my invintory, even the crafting material.

I’m sure you could make some money selling your crafted stuff on the auction house.

I generally solo PvE, so I have a bear and a spider.

Not sure what I would use in PvP yet. I’m waiting for the fix to the game crashing on 32 bit systems before I try going in there again.

Yeah seriously. I would love to play some PvP but the game crashing out on me has kept me away from part of the game that I wanted to play the most.

Everytime I walk through the zone portals I get nervous. Sometimes it just crashes while I’m running around too.

If you don’t have 64bit windows you can follow this guide to enable the 3GB flag on windows 7 32bit: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=9583842&linkID=9240697 (you will have to copy and paste, apparently the forum redirect kills the link)

That will allow applications to use up to 3gb instead of 2gb on 32bit windows.

then use this on your gw2.exe http://ntcore.com/files/4gb_patch.zip

Which enables GW2 to use that space.

Anyone try this? I get the memory crashes as well with a higher end machine. Wondering if this solved anything

I wouldn’t say we are severely dependant on pets but they are certainly a nice addition in most situations. If you need a meat shield or the random buffs / debuffs / crowd control they provide.

Personally I don’t find pets to be a pain to manage, thus far I’m level 32 and have solo’d the better part of it. I can’t comment on dungeon content yet though…I plan to stay out of them until my pet can figure out how to stand next to me rather then moving ahead 20 feet and pulling mobs.

I chose a ranger for the bow abilities, I really don’t melee that much but I’m sure they are viable in close range if you trait and gear for it accordingly.

overall, I’m having fun with the ranger. but it may not be your cup of tea.
