Level 30 Human Guardian

I have a 32bit windows 7 machine which exceeds the minimum requirements.
It can play most games with the highest graphics settings.
Yet GW2 crashes all the time (on the lowest dam settings) and I can usually tell when it’s going to happen. When I open my map the graphics glitch out on me and it’s a guarantee when I zone to somewhere else that it will crash. Sometimes I will crash standing where I was. The map doesn’t always do this, it’s usually after I’ve been playing for 30 mins or so.
This is a huge issue because each time I’ve tried WvW I’m crashing and I fear that dungeons will do the same. So I’ve had to stay away from them.
So, what am I supposed to do?
Just go out and buy a better OS? Forget that!
Why isn’t ANET doing anything about this?? It’s been a problem since day 1!! And I’m guessing a problem during the beta as well.
I know they are working hard to fix things but seriously, this should have been a priority to fix. Expecting customers to upgrade their OS is a slap in the face.
I want to know who thought that shooting unicorns from a bow was a cool idea….
I’ve been enjoying life outside so I still have tons of content to go through.
I suggest being reintroduced to the sun
I’m creeping up to 80 very soon, possibly over this weekend.
Haven’t done any PvP yet, but I’ve done lots of PvP on other games. (DAoC, WoW, Rift etc)
I need a guild on Blackgate. I’ve joined 2 guilds just to leave because no one was talking or doing anything.
So, if any larger guilds want another, keep checking in for me and send me a message.
Asilim
I’ve solo levelled up to 66. Aside from events that require more people.
I either roll with longbow with axe & warhorn, or shortbow with axe & warhorn.
I kept marksmanship maxed, 5 in nature magic and whatever else in survival.
My end spec will likely be 30/20/15/5/0.
Traits I use are Steady Focus, Piercing Arrows, Signet of Beastmaster, Sharpened Edges, Quick Draw, Shared Anguish.
I’m Asura so I use radiation field (racial ability), Quickening Zephyr, Rampage as One, and Signet of stone.
Pets I use are usually the Bear for tanking and Devourer for ranged.
PvE has been a piece of cake
I just like their lack of size
Right on!
I hope this is true!
Thanks Jon
Rangers already have plenty of poison fields. It’s too bad all of them are on pets though.
Or if you rolled an Asura they have radiation field
Comparing us to thieves and calling for a longbow nerf? You’re asking for mobs of people with torches and pitchforks to come looking for you.
Edit: Ah, nevermind, you cleared it up…I’ll put away the pitchfork. I also thought you wanted Rangers to fire less.

Do you just want a button that kills the person in front of you instantly?
That sounds good to me
Thanks for the update Jon.
A lot of people are counting on this quality of life improvement for Rangers that we did not receive last patch.
Don’t put another bullseye on you for the next one, although I guess currently you could just side step out of the way
on the 14th we will have our underwater buff nerfed and numerous tooltips fixed.
Rangers need communication from the devs.
The forum is here

The Dinosaur size list of bugs are here

If I were John, even if it was my job, why would I come into a forum where I get ripped daily? He can continue with the work on Ranger without the aggrevation of dealing with a community that has called you names and referred to you as a LIAR.
Now don’t get me wrong, I think the way they communicated could have been better but being human, why go engage in a place you’re disliked?
All he or “someone” had to do was come in here after the last patch and make a statement. The longer something like that takes, the quicker the constructive discussion goes down the tubes until people are left with a perminent bad taste in their mouthes.
Read through his thread, note the dates, and watch how it deteriorates. More importantly, note all the numerous threads which has contained tons of constructive feedback to help the devs.
Rangers are one of the classes that needs the most improvement. Something that he said himself. Yet we’re creeping up on a month with zero communication in the Ranger forums and 2 months of waiting for any decent fixes….
Honestly, how long does it take to type a paragraph or two to keep your player base from giving up on the game? Unless you are typing with your feet, I’m going to say it shouldn’t take long at all.
Preventitive maintenance.
I would like the option as well.
For those that want to use the pets all the time they can, for those that don’t they have the option but will lose any utilities that comes with the pets.that’s stupid and will never happen. its our special class mechanic.
If you mean special olympics “special” then yes, I agree.
Pet’s aren’t even that bad. The only real issue they have is coming down ledges, other than that they have no issues. I don’t have any trouble controlling mine.
So, pets struggling to hit moving targets is not a main issue? Because it’s hurting most other Rangers DPS.
So let’s see, Anet gives you ALL these wonderful CC skills and snares and you choose to ignore them to assist your pet. Hmm sounds like a great idea.
oh I see, so I have to use things that I don’t want to use in order to make the pet viable. That makes sense. Because you know, I’m not a trap Ranger…
How about the pet is viable from the get go? Hmm sounds like a great idea.Did I even mention traps? No? Do you know how many gap closers rangers have? Clearly you don’t. Did you know that you can swap your pet to spawn your other pet right beside you? Did you know basically all your weapon sets have a cripple? Do you even play ranger?
oooooh. right. I forgot I want to close the gap…..not maintain it….here I thought longbow was for range.
What difference does it make it I swap pets? The new pet wont consistantly hit the moving target either…
So, given I use longbow and axe/warhorn, what should I do then?
Wait for barrage cooldown every fight?
Wait for winters bite cooldown every fight?
Maybe I’ll use point blank shot and hope the pet gets a hit in?While I’m waiting I’ll spread some peanut butter on the ground and throw crackers at my target.
Or perhaps it would just make more sense to make the pets hit a lot more often.
Your complaints are horrible and irrelevant. We might as well give elementalists 0 delay on attunement swaps, get rid of initiative and let thieves spam any attacks they want forever, or even better let kill shot be an instant shot that can be spammed right?
So, since I use signet of stone, quickening zepher, rampage as one and radiation field….I should swap out what I have enjoyed using and be pigeon holed into something else so my pets work properly?
If pets are going to work at all, they should work with any combination of skills.Your complaint has nothing to do with the ranger class. Your complaint can be applied to every single class in this game. Go play a long bow rifle warrior, see how effective that is too.
I didn’t know every class in this game had pets.
Crap, maybe I’m not playing a Ranger afterall.
I think I forgot what my name is.
Where am I?

Ranged combat – Obstructions
Profession skills/traits (see Ranger)
Loading screens freezing/crashing
Anet says it’s a memory space issue.
seriously?
seems they sure have a lot of memory for everything else they are adding…
decided to play a little last night but got stuck on a loading screen so I didn’t bother playing at all.
I don’t think it really matters.
I’m used to chosing the shortest race
Edited by moderator: post edited since the quoted message is not longer existing
After he made the post many many people were actually very optimistic until the patch went live. If the devs pulled through with even ONE major Ranger fix on that patch…let’s say pets…then I’m sure people would have been a little more patient moving forward.
They need to be rolling out the fixes now, before people stop playing. If it hasn’t been happening already.
So what if the next patch is as insignificant as the last? Just wait another month and remain patient?
(edited by Moderator)
So when is the next patch?
It’s been over a month since JonPeters posted here and he hasn’t come back since…
I say fix the existing ones before adding anything else at this point.
wait. what? pets name now stay with the pets?
I haven’t tried in a long time now. mine are all still juvenile
Is it the WoW skill where you can place a mark on one player and they are unable to stealth for a little while? I liked that idea.
I looked over a lot of text…..was ANY ranger questions answered? I didn’t see any
My first love was DAoC. And to this day, nothing has come close to being as fun. I must have played it for at least 5 years.
Since then, I have also played Warhammer, World of warcraft, Star Wars Galaxies, Age of Conan (briefly), City of Heros, Rift and a bit of Tabula Rasa. (in no particular order)
Guild wars 2 has potential for sure. I have fun when I play but it doesn’t hold me playing for hours and I could go days without logging in. I think they pushed the game to the shelves to fast and the sheer amount of bugs clearly reflects that. Probably also because I chose a ranger…
I never understood why our pets still walk around when they are “downed”.
Welcome to the club!
Pets not hitting moving targets lowers our DPS.
Pets dying from a gentle breeze lowers our DPS.
Most out weapons/skills are already low DPS.
Not hitting your target at all nullifies our DPS completely.
Ah hell, let’s buff the warrior longbow!
Read the massive thread, you can’t miss it.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/Ranger-update/page/19#post821689
is there any way to find out how far away you are from a target?
in DAoC I would usually set a ground target at max distance so I knew anyone that came past it would be in my range
more variety would be nice. I’ve looked the same from 1-55(ish), then I finally got an interesting hat from one of the story quests.
yes I started playing a lot less about a month ago.
reason: I chose a ranger
I noticed this as well…I figured I was teetering at max range.
Great, so it’s another bug….
I recall people discussing if gear stats plays a role in aggro. Not sure if that was confirmed though.
When people spend as much time as some of them do on their characters, just to find out that they are on the very bottom end of the food chain…I can see how that is frustrating.
When people are given broken promises, I can see how that compounds the problem.
As I keep saying…there’s a thread with almost 100k views and somewhere around 800 replies….many posts with great ideas for balancing the Ranger, or at least making them more viable…if this forum is supposed to be about class feedback…it’s completely USELESS.
Countless times the negative feedback regarding longbow has been discussed….yet the devs are happy with Ranger longbow damage….they also tell us that shortbow was no fun in it’s current state so they nerf it…shortbow was one of the very few viable builds and many people were using it….how a popular weapon gets pegged as “no fun” is far, far beyond my imagination.
And then this happens….warrior get a longbow buff? In the same patch that Rangers were promised a significant quality of life improvement? To which the majority of the Rangers do not feel an improvement at all? Hello trap nerf! I believe the patch prior to this, Rangers weren’t even on it!!!
If that is not a repeated & direct kick to the family jewels, I don’t know what is!
Perhaps the community would show a little more respect if they were given a little more respect.
I’m seriously baffled why there is not one person for each profession working on bug fixes/balancing. Instead, apparantly there is only two people for all of them?….good grief. It makes my head hurt.
check if it works under water
Buffing the Ranger profession for WvW/sPvP would make the Ranger insanely better than other profs. in PvE. That would just swing a separate pendulum too far imo.
Warriors are largely useful in dungeons AND PvP.
So why can’t rangers be just as effective?
the devs have a 90k viewed, 700+ reply thread that they could have looked through.
Under water?
Rangers can help you!
I don’t even think I’ve put in 2 hours of time this week.
85k views. 700+ responses….hundreds of feedback posts…and these were our fixes?
Why would they not have 1 person for EACH profession working on fixing things?
Our longbow is subpar but warriors needed theirs buffed? Their rifle just wasn’t strong enough?
GOOD LORD, no wonder I’ve stopped playing.
What is there for non-casual players?
a chance to go outside and re-introduce yourself to the sun, or perhaps a woman.
I plan to do Power, Toughness, Vitality, Precision. In that order.
If rangers ever get their needed buffs, I plan to do WvW with longbow and axe/warhorn. Until then, I’m not bothering with PvP.
I’ve been focusing on those same stats for PvE and it’s working fine for me.
Although my latest personal quest was a bit tough! Think it was the level 48 or 50 quest that had me kiting mobs around the entire keep lol
