I know there has probably been a thread about this. But honestly get tired of reading about all the QQ’ing. Would be nice to read about some good true lighthearted sportsmanship.
Like this one time fighting a thief, we ran circles around each other with neither one of us wanting to give. This went on for what seemed like ages (was probably really only a few minutes). Then finally we both just sat down and flew our kites and called it a stalemate. Not soon after that this thief’s zerg shows up and our short lived peaceful armistice was ended and I had to book it out of there. Like I just got caught sneaking into the girlfriends house and got caught by her parents. Would have been nice to at least caught the thiefs name.
And another time and another thief. I’m just casually roaming flying solo and spot them. of course you can’t pass up an opportunity for a fight. Win or lose, tap or not your always gonna get up learn something from it. But anyways I come up on them thinking I’ve got the jump on them (ha what was I thinking I’m a big kitten norn warrior). Nope I did not have an advantage. Not in any sort of way. Battle is very short lived and downs me, and I’m laying on my back throwing all I’ve got at him and he’s running away, he gets a good ways away turns around and bows and continues on his way. Whoever you were sir. I respect you. That is all.
Does anyone else have any good storied like this and wished they had at least caught the name of the person?
Just one question I always have to ask when I see the name Sanctus. Did you play a game way back called Knight Online?

Out roaming on my thief back when I first starting playing s/d. Running along near the old ruins area right after capping the sentry.. I see a Thief coming at me from behind, and just continue to run along like I didn’t see him..
As predicted he must have been spamming f1 to seal as soon as he got in range, which I evaded with sword 3 meanwhile watching him CND the air. I laugh thinking I now have a chance to turn and burst on him, well the exact scenario happens, in reverse.. (mind you this is in the span of just seconds).
So here we are, both have failed out steal, cnd’s and end up with some distance between us. At the same time we both sword 2 toward each other (slightly out of range we both used it), which ended up in the game being confused I think and some wierd tele glitching..
Having another failure, and both low on ini, nobody landing a hit yet we charge head on into each other. Both of us simultaneously using sword 3 to evade the perceived incoming CND. At which point, we proceeded to BOTH fail steal/cnd AGAIN. I refuged, so did he. I never saw him again.
Accurate or not, this is what came to mind. 1:00-1:20 or so
On topic: I’ve had some interesting encounters interrupted where I was disappointed about not finding my opponent again.

Edge of the mists is generally the place to go for leveling. The short matches and lack of organization brought by grouping servers means a lot of single-blob karma training goes on. You’ll also find the majority of your foes are uplevels that are there for the same reasons you are.
Keep your gear up to date, position yourself cautiously and you should do just fine. Gaining two levels an hour without any xp boosts seems to be a typical result (mileage will vary based on the other colors are up to.)

I received an ascended celestial ring and a sentinel armor box during the course of completing two tracks. A guildmate received a rampager armor and valk weapon box in addition to a ring in the same time frame.

Yet has left them with 250 out of their thousands?
Is this for real?
I can understand if its people that have logged on for the first time since rank up chests appeared and have all the bonus chests from that + the bonus chests for placement of their server each week since, thats fair enough, we all got those chests too.
But if people suddenly from nowhere got 4k+ chests for nothing, as is implied in this thread, and are now allowed to keep 250 of them?

Short answer is yes, it looks like anyone who lucked out by getting bogus bonus chests gets to keep a substantial portion of them as well as whatever bonus chests they managed to claim from their pool before the patch. I’m guessing it was a more expedient solution that determining who was affected.

Also.. WvW salvage kits, which remove Sigils/Runes from WvW purchased gear (which can not be salvaged or even transmuted with the new wardrobe system), should be implemented. These kits could be purchased with Badges of Honor, creating a potential spending sink for excess badges.
This may well deserve its own thread.

Well, I’m about to start leveling a guardian, so this should be fun. If any of you DR folks find some tiny loot bags in your inventory this week, you’re welcome.
I had a little bit of fun rolling around on a level 2 guardian on patch night. Had 28k HP thanks to guard stack scaling.

The box contains the full set of course, you just only get to pick one to take out. It’s the same way that the weapon boxes contain a full set of weapons but you only choose one. Wording could be tweaked to clarify.
Still seems like a lot of effort for one piece though.

I can’t claim to know the amount of resources available to the wvw dev team or the constraints that they have to work around. I prefer to believe they do what they can with what they have while trying to meet content deadlines.
There’s no disputing that there are severely overdue bug fixes for the gametype but negativity won’t solve anything either. If you are encountering severe input latency then detail your experience in the main thread and you have the potential to be a small part of the solution.

The issues at hand have nothing to do with lag, lag implies delayad communication between clients and servers. Nor does this have anything to do with package loss.
The issues at hand are related to what is happening on the servers and the processing of information on the servers.
On a side note: There are obviously ways to provoke those issues.
(edit) the issues arise even on “empty” maps like obsidian sanctum with only interactions by less than 15 players.
Lag is being used as an interchangeable term for the game not performing as expected/desired.That thread is the place to report such issues, the dev team can diagnose the root cause.
If you want to be constructive it’s better to put it in a thread that’s at least being loosely monitored rather than having multiple threads that either end up rehashing the same points of view, devolve into inflammatory nonsense or simply get pushed off the first page.

In the large 80+ zerg battles, the servers drop down the calculation/processing to exotic level so that there is less overhead. So it makes no difference. For roaming solo it might make a difference but skill comes first.

I don’t know what guild you have been “farming”, but DR doesn’t really get guild groups that big. Biggest guild group you may see would be 20-25. Mixed population PUG groups you can see in the 40’s and typically only in EB. So with that said I venture to ask what guild groups you would be talking about?
Make a list of all WvW guilds on DR and then check them off as farmed.

On topic – I think it’s too early to really say. It’s going to come down to which servers maintain momentum as their weekend warriors and achievement hunters go back to pursuing skritt shinies elsewhere.
Morale will play as large a role in server performance as transfers. Low expectations become self-fulfilling prophecy.

GoM shot itself in the foot, despite warning; we proceeded to try-hard and thus we went up in rank, and thus we felt into a 800 gem category, which nobody would pay 800 gems to go to an already low server. Regardless, the WvW community has restarted to rebuild, we have a [not so recent] return and transfers of new guilds, some of them small but organized. Right now we are just looking for coverag since we are all aware that it is night coverage what wins games.
We don’t tank, even if it means passing on an opportunity for free transfers. There’s plenty of servers in need and trying to skirt the system just wrecks things for everyone.
Wagons stop and break once it hit a wall… I expect HoD and DR to be teared apart at some point after the leagues…

This might be the case, a sizable portion of our recent numbers are DR natives that opened the scoreboard and liked what they saw. I prefer to think that our most stubborn groups will remain no matter what happens.

Place your own siege or have people that have explicit instructions to place siege for the run. Inform the rest not to place siege. Having random siege placed will drain your zerg of supply.
Ask the group to donate siege to you by mail if they want to contribute.

It does bear mentioning that a warrior in full zerker gear has better defensive stats than an ele in full soldier’s (before allocating stat points for either character.)

Warrior is indeed strong, but this seems like more of a build issue. He’s stacked to be strong against the physical damage you are dealing. He’d probably have to run from condition builds with +duration.
