Whoever punted me out of the SM cap ring just now deserves a play of the week spotlight. Reinforcements were almost there to defeat you, but your one button press secured victory.

Someone more qualified would have to answer that. I heard somewhere that uptick scaling brings you up to rare level effectiveness from you gear after taking into account any discrepancy between your character level and what you actually have equipped. A lvl 80 in exotics won’t be dropped down to the same rare threshold and I can’t imagine ascended gear would either. Again, it’s really only hearsay though.

I can say that ascended weapons and trinkets add meaningful stat gains over exotics in WvW and have no reason to suspect that armor would be different.

Berserker benefits substantially more due to the scaling of critical damage.

Conversely condition focus build won’t see much improvement at all.

There have been exhaustive threads covering it in other subforums… but…. you know…. there’s no functional search option…. so have fun finding them.

In terms of HP/toughness the gains are modest, though once ascended armor comes in to play it will likely become significant.

I’d like to apologize for the yak slaying outside Durios just now. A vocal minority in TS wanted them dead =[

When a warrior is threatened by having his god mode challenged.

Said warrior goes into defensive mode. Using block whilst healing with out hindrance.

If he still needs to heal up more. He can use swiftness and mobility skills to out run the enemy (yes even out run thieves). Forcing them to either chase or give up chasing.

Chasing a warrior proves fruitless as the warrior simply resets the fight and is again fighting you at full power.

Thus the only option is to not fight a warrior. Or be one.

what you described seems like a defensively geared warrior.

a defensive warrior will be hard to take down, not impossible.

Bring a greatsword, bull’s rush, heal signet, melandru runes, lemongrass, spec for mobile strikes/dogged march…. there… there’s your defense… you don’t actually need defensive stats or gear to back it up. Now layer on the stunlock goodies and you’ve got yourself a 1v1 beast that can run with near impunity.

Edit: I beat these warriors only when they are foolish or I let myself get low enough to keep them from running. They usually retreat ~2k units in a couple seconds once they hit half heath.

Reward isn’t anything to right home about. Certainly nothing that hours of play in WvW proper wouldn’t completely dwarf.

WvW, their massive zerg stationed near a big kitten cliff for treb, I got pulled into the middle of them. I activated Fear Me, 20 bags at least.

Anytime you get multiple kills (or depending on tagging – force multiple deaths,) from cliffside shenanigans it’s a good feeling. Most of the bags must have been from other tagged targets though. Unless fear me affects more than 5 and does damage, this wasn’t the source.

On topic my luckiest drop moment was when I got celestial dye 2k+ hours into the game. In wvw though? So many lucky breaks that I can scarcely scratch the surface… but there was one time I made it back into a tower with exactly 0 HP.

In this thread HoD and SF toast each other’s martial prowess whilst stepping over the bodies of the DR militia, sifting through the belongings of naive fairweathers, motioning to maps of native Devona lands and squabbling good-naturedly over how they should be divided.

Satire of course, but that’s how it feels. I’m actually pleased to see positive back chatter amongst servers.

If I was feeling industrious enough I could dredge up threads asking for an avenue to work on parts of the living story meta without leaving wvw.

I was hiding in bay after it was capped… the lord hit me through a wall for 44k with call to arms. Feel free to critique my lack of ability to evade an npc that doesn’t spawn anywhere near me and was obscured by a solid wall. With my back to a wall I wasn’t really checking behind me anyway, so if there was an AoE ring, I certainly missed it. Boy was I surprised. Naturally an enemy saw the downed symbol on their map and came to collect their hard earned loot =\

How is it that you guys only generate QQ when I’m out for rest/recovery. Is the risk of my silent Asuran disapproval keeping both sides civil? Perhaps my hat is somehow key.

Are you logged onto the same character that completed the meta? If you didn’t open the pop-up chest it should still be available for you to claim when you log onto the proper character.

In that situation Ram 3 was sufficient and he deferred to the other player after a time.

I’ll agree that some achievements encourage poor decisions from new players though. I prefer to think of whole situation as the growing pains of breaking in recruits rather than WvW being ruined by tourists.

What do you expect or want? Us to just not do anything? FCBL was all Blue thanks to STaR, EB was queued. We had some golems and came to play. Why do you expect us to not come to play?

Let me ask this.. why do it in such a way that you “win” in the easiest fashion possible.

I don’t give a spit about points, I look for fun fights, how is steam rolling a massively outnumbered opponent a fun fight for you or your opponent?

Hint: You were bored because you were steam rolling things in the fastest fashion possible… that ends up with fewer people to fight fewer things to flip.

Can’t really dismiss servermates from your group, they want to WvW too. If it’s just a PvD fest it’ll be boring but it brings in WxP to give them an edge for more competitive matches.

If they are getting in, popping the lord, and capping uncontested, then part of the zerg can be committed elsewhere. Zero opposition paper keeps can be taken with 3, including SM, though you’ll obviously want more for the sake of speed and certainty of capture.

It’s a shame they decided to break the ‘master of disaster’ and ‘realm defender achievements.’ Granted they weren’t really rational goals but it was nice to see the numbers slowly tick up. I guess spending ten supply will have to be my only milestone there.

Trying times for Devona’s, I’ll agree with that. Our roster of WvW oriented guilds collapsed a few months ago. First two weeks of the season attracted a lot of new blood but blowouts will turn them off to the game mode.

My favorite role is sitting on an enemy camp with ~5 and holding off all comers until they commit a whole zerg. Ideally pangloss or danelon.

We will not be changing WvW ranks or WxP to be account bound. However, we are going to be implementing a host of changes that should make this seem less like some sort of punishment(a categorization I disagree with entirely) and more of a character progression system. The first step is the liquid WXP that is being added to the rank up chests which is account-bound. We are planning additional systems as well. Hopefully, as we continue to announce some of those changes, you will be happier with the system.

I’d support there being some manner of swap dialogue that lists the appropriate siege rank of the players requesting use of the siege. Taking it over outright seems too much.

Firstly, this should probably be in the world recruitment forum. Secondly I wish you the best in your rebuilding process, DR lost most the majority of our WvW guilds a month or two before the start of the season. I will, however, QQ whenever you rock my face with the map limit zergs I saw Oct 12-19.

He might be trolling :p, I am a bronze legend and sometimes we log like 5-8 warriors into WvW and represent our ‘warrior riffle squat’ guild and killshot people. Boosting about how hard we hit people and oneshot people :p.

Was hilarious, next time we should go for the root train. 100% condi duration and all with as many roots as possible! Oh imagine the laughs!

A 40s stack of immobilize? Do Not Want

The OP was in jest, but I still support new players getting something to ease their initiation. Even something as simple as no repair bills until a certain rank would be nice.

I swear there is an hourly loot lottery. A couple times a month I get excellent loot for a short burst, then it’s back to “what color is rare loot again?”

It is a shame that my interactions with mercenary camps are mainly decapping…. it’s of some consolation that a failure to cap from neutral also ticks the achievement provided you tagged it.

NSP has quality roamers and efficient/organized guilds groups. I’d recommend you help them out. First time I ran into them in recent memory they hammer trained our reset zerg into smithereens without hardly dropping their pace. I’d love to see them succeed in silver league with some padded coverage.

In the bronze tier I’m sure DH and GoM have their charms and quality people. I’ve had the privilege of meeting/fighting quite a few. I can’t, however, seem to muster sympathy for servers that blot out the landscape with red names as far I can see as they talk of how they’ve fallen on hard times. Call me petty if you must, I won’t argue.

ET seems to be a rising star as they’ve become more organized.

Ferg has strong presence and field large numbers while at the same time being home to my favorite rival guild. <3 you Yarr. HoD has a pretty strong position as well.

AR has some scrappy fighters and could surely use a hand given their current lot.

I’m not even sure why Kaineng is here, though I won’t claim to know their recent history. I’ll put SF in the same camp, don’t know an awful lot about them, but there are always more of them than there are of me

As for Devona’s, we have some solid roamers and a number of quality smaller guilds. Our primary issues are that the only guilds that field large numbers are PvX in nature, if the matchup doesn’t suit their tastes they’ll simple occupy themselves elsewhere. The upgrade/siege/defend culture has eroded over time due to widening coverage gaps and morale spirals out of control as fairweathers lose hope. Give us a small victory and we are suddenly competitive, but without it swords are turned to plowshares.
