I’m a Warrior, a Tiger Charr, and the biggest possible Charr I could make.
Totally made him Ash legion. I like to think that he kicks butt both physically AND mentally.
Somewhat embarrassingly I also have a max-size, tiger charr warrior in the Ash Legion. He’s a bleed-spec double-sword build which, I felt, fitted in better with Ash than with Blood.
I do also have an Iron Legion Engineer, which is a bit of a cliché but was fantastic in the ghostbore part of the personal story … especially the montage, whoever came up with that idea needs a raise.

I’m dreadful at jumping puzzles, doesn’t matter what race I’m playing … I suck at them; this does not, however, mean I don’t try them when I find them and sometimes I even succeed!
I play both a max-size norn and a max-size charr and can confirm that the norn is easy-mode by comparison just because he’s a biped. On the other hand, in the combat puzzles it’s slightly easier to tell if I’m out of the combat-state with my charr because he suddenly runs on all fours.

Trahearne’s voice-actor is British, yes; but his performance is terrible (and blaming the director only goes so far) so please don’t judge us all by his example. It does rather feel that the entire personal story goes to pot after Claw Island, prior to that things feel personally engaging, after that it just feels like I’m going through the motions. Much as I’d like to I can’t place all the blame for that at the feet of Trahearne.
I do loathe Logan but I like the way he’s scripted and acted, my dislike is entirely centred around in-game reasons; rather than my dislike of Trahearne which is almost entirely for out of game reasons.

Life Siphon (dagger #2) is great for damage done but quite lacklustre in terms of healing received. Make it a cleave effect and it becomes much more useful!
Especially when they’re coming from stealth and you have little to no time to react at all.
To be fair, if they’re coming at you from stealth then having extra range won’t help. On the whole though, having extra range on the #1 skill would be very nice

I too find being stalked by Eir creepy, of all the mentors she is by far the weakest. The others all have pretty good story reasons to be with your hero (even the walking monkey Logan) but Eir just seems to be stalking you, hanging on to your victories and taking credit for them in some way. The “test” before the end of the “Revenge” story is just insulting … I fight for my own reasons and they are none of Eir’s busines; her approval is NOT needed. From quite liking her in Edge of Destiny I now find myself disliking her almost as much as Trahearne.

Lovely? Rich? He sounds dreadfully adenoidal to me. Also the direction is not all to blame here, the text is quite sufficient to indicate that “reading a telephone directory” is not the desired style. The actor was being lazy, plain and simple.

The Charr storylines have been without a doubt the most entertaining and immersive, such a shame it all goes to pot once you leave your order. As was mentioned elsewhere, from feeling very much in control in your early life, post 50 everything feels identical. Frankly I would rather see the model flipped on its head, with fewer options at the start, branching out to more meaningful choices as you advance.
Back to the Charr though, everything is right with them; the characterisations, the voices, the stories, everything. I deliberately played the exact same story in beta and live because I enjoyed it so much (specifically Gladium father), I was so impressed that the game didn’t try to railroad my choices and actually let me decide something that felt pretty fundamental.
Unfortunately the earlier Charr stories make promises that simply aren’t delivered on later in the game. As the most heinous example I’ll put forward “Fixing Blame” which is railroading of the worst kind and an episode that I spent a long time trying to do the sensible thing but eventually caved even though I knew (and it was blatantly obvious) that it was the wrong thing to do. “Fixing Blame” is an example of how not to write an interactive story, the Charr cultural stories are a prime example of getting it right.
Somethng I mentioned back in Beta was that characters in Tyria don’t swear, and that always strikes me as odd when we’re talking about any kind of fiction. You show me an entire town where not one person ever swears in it.
It simply does not exist.
They might not swear using the words WE recognize as swearing, but in every language, every culture, there are “curse words” devised for the same purposes (expressing pain or anger/frustration/stress) that have the same taboo in their culture as any word replaced by “kitten” on these forums.
It seems… very unrealistic and unimmersive for Tyrians not to have such words or expressions.
The closest I’ve heard was “By Ogden’s Hammer! What savings!”
The Charr have several, mostly revolving around the word "burn, " the Sylvari have “brambles!” which makes me smile every time I hear it. I can’t bring to mind anything from the other cultures though, so your point is valid.
As an aside, and I think this was mentioned elsewhere; Logan has become something of a joke in my guild too. Perhaps you could adopt “Logan” or “Thackeray” as human expletives.

The actor does many of the Sylvari (and some other) voices, including the NPC at Morgan’s Spiral but despite being so prevalent in this game and in LotRO I’ve yet to find out who the actor behind the voice is. Does anyone know?

Issue: I tried to change representation for one of my characters today, stood down from one guild “The Grey [Grey]” (registered on Tarnished Coast) and then tried to represent a guild I’d made myself “Grey [Grey]” (registered on Piken Square) but was unable to. To add insult to injury I find that I can’t switch back to representing “The Grey” now either so I’m stuck without a guild for the time being. I will try the leave/invite workaround for the original guild but obviously I can’t do that for the guild I am leader of.

The worst voice acting in the game by a country mile, given the talent seen in relatively minor roles it seems criminal that they would have given such a prominent (and unavoidable) role to someone who appeared to have been thinking of something else at the time of recording.

One of my favourite voice actors in the industry is featured quite heavily (though not, alas, as Trahearne … why is he so bad?) in the game, mostly as Sylvari but I’m pretty sure I’ve heard him voicing other races too on occasion. Is there any way of finding out what his name is? He’s done work in LotRO too but their IMDB entry is ludicrous. In short, is there a full cast list anywhere? If not, can there be one please?

Pretty straightforward question really, my Life Siphon (dagger 2) and related skills (eg. Vampiric Precision) seem quite lacklustre at the moment. Are my expectations simply too high and everything is working as intended? Or is life siphoning bugged at the moment (it seems to be from the bugs thread but there’s no indication of whether that’s been addressed or not)?

There are a couple of things in the Black Citadel that I miss having around that were there in Beta. First off is the tradeskill barker who used to stalk around the tradeskill area exhorting people to contribute to the war effort, added a lovely flavour that is missing now. Second is the music in the Black Citadel, whatever happened to the Charr triumphant theme? Frankly I think that should be the first thing you hear whenever you enter the Citadel.
Finally I have a personal whine about Skill Challenges. I really enjoy at least trying to solo the things but all too often someone else will jump in to help or to get their own challenge done. The problem here is that the events aren’t repeatable, so I get exactly one shot at soloing them and if someone jumps in to “help” and I can’t log out of the game quickly enough then that’s it for that character. What I would really like is to be able to restart challenges, not to gain any extra benefit at all but just so that I can attempt to solo the encounter even if someone else came along the first time I did it.
