i somewhat appreciate the idea of Anet trying to add new stuff to WvW. but the truth is. there is way too many problems with the current WvW experience to even consider the idea of adding new things.
looking back to last year when the Hot expansion came out. Anet added a whole lot of new mechanics and abilities in hopes that it would pull people back into WvW. Long story short, new features were short lived due to the massive amount of issues that already existed to make players quit WvW the first place
if players have to deal with so many issues, problems, bugs, exploits in WvW to the point where the experience is pretty much dead for them. how is adding a repairing hammer gonna fix the core issues those players.
Please anet, please address/fix the issues that currently exist in WvW. then i would be more than happy of the idea of throwing in new gameplay mechanics.
i’ve addressed this in another thread and many others before me. that the glicko has been stuffed for a while. with the double reset in one week to other varing factors. the glicko doesn’t show accurate information. and if it did, the glicko doesn’t know what to do with it

From what I understand, inactive accounts have no bearing on sever status. WvW account activity does.
i think op was talking about in regards to transfering to another server. not in regards to WvW queues
being on gom i didnt mind being steamrolled once. but being steamrolled twice by the exact same servers the exact same way makes me want to play less WvW. and by past behaviors of the dismally bad matchups. we’ll most likely be paired up again.
its been one of many constant running problems since world linking happen. no diverse matchups and it would just be the same 3 servers vs’ing each other for weeks on end
the glicko stopped working as intended for the lower servers for long while now
is it a select number of people that can’t log in?
also if you guys state how long ago the the connection issues started it might help the troubleshooting for anet staff
1 -2 hours ago i got dc’d, been trying to reconnect with no luck. its just giving me the encounter error in login. even trying to browse the website is slower than other websites.
just wondering if other users in general or from Australia are having the same issue?
the day before the wvw reset, on that day, give players the free option to transfer onto a different server. on any other day they will still have to pay the gems to transfer over
Free transfers would also increase the problem of alt accounts spying on the enemy team via tag watching, wasting the tactivators, giving false intel in map chat, and destroying golems.
valid point. best my idea would do have to make it a day after the reset. also if people are already willing to pay the gems to spy on other servers. the free transfers probably wont affect it as much as we think it would.
back in relation to the main problem. its the major guilds of WvW that always plays
a major part in maintaining a healthy WvW experience for everyone. so when that guild leaves the server. other players outside of that guild either stop playing WvW, pay 500 gems to move. or if that person is a guild leader, pay a heap load of gold into gems to get their friends or their guild to transfer to another server. and the only reason why thats stressful its the amount of time need to constantly send gold to other players and talking to each individual person. probably not always the case but it has been for most of the guilds i’ve seen transfer to other server
and then what happens when those players that transfer into their new server and they dont like it? or when the server doesn’t like that guild? or when the sever start to die by guilds leaving that server. those players that just transferred into that sever just wasted time and gems
with the current match ups, The more populated servers are winning over the smaller servers. So the WvW focused guilds on the smaller servers that, feel that to get that WvW experience. they are forced to do the bold and expensive move to transfer over to the bigger servers. so the small servers get smaller as the big servers get bigger. which seems fine in a sense. because the small servers get paired up with the small servers. but from my recent matchups matchups. this hasn’t been the case for me at all
i only really have one suggestion for this. don’t put people in a 500 gem barrier to feel locked out the WvW that they could very well have. the fact that there is so many WvW cultures around servers. player should have some freedom to invest time to find the right server that they want to play on without blowing a whole lot of gems down the drain
the day before the wvw reset, on that day, give players the free option to transfer onto a different server. on any other day they will still have to pay the gems to transfer over
looking back on what i said i can understand why you took that approach on me josh.xt
i should of been more clear. i was referring to people who use the argument that “people that duel are taking up queue space” when duelers arent actually taking up queue space. didn’t mean to come across that way. i love dueling on WvW. its how i get to spec my builds so much better so i can die less
so that being said. how is a 1v1 duels different, from a player roaming between camps and being forced into a 1v1 fight when a theif or warrior comes out of nowhere and tries to kill you. its literally no different at all
In a forced 1 vs. 1 I would help my teammate. I mean, we are one team. In a duel, I will get flamed for helping (as Josh xt showed).
But the question to you as well: How do you differentiate whether it is a forced 1 vs. 1 or a duel?
why is this a relevant question? when the end result is the same. there’s no point about differentiating either. if people are dueling, it takes up space in the queue for people that wanna join zergs, if people are roaming and randomly forced into 1v1 fights. those people takes up space in the queue for people that wanna join zergs
if a single player isn’t dueling. that player is roaming the map picking off another single player. duel or not
WvW isn’t Zerg vs Zerg. What blows my mind is that people still haven’t figured out after almost 4 years that splitting up the zergs in to smaller groups that go in different directions is WAY more effective. Imagine this, 10 smaller groups of 5 people can take 10 objectives at the same time, where as a 50 man group can only take one objective at a time.
a zerg isnt that much different from an organized party. both have set objectives in mind. i just used the word zerg because i didn’t think it would change my statement.
but even thinking on a smaller scale of a 5 man party where 4 of em is in EB and one of them is still queue for EB. you find a duel or a random 1v1 and you intervene.
putting aside whats morally right or wrong with duels. would either person in the 1v1 go and leave EB, just because some group stopped 1v1 fight? maybe so? maybe not. but with the amount of things you can do in WvW, that roamer that was in the 1v1 would probably stay in EB. either joining groups or roaming by themself again fighting other roamers
ganking 1v1 duels isn’t gonna help your queue times. but if your doing it based on a morale standpoint. it will make players join groups/zergs more often.
so that being said. how is a 1v1 duels different, from a player roaming between camps and being forced into a 1v1 fight when a theif or warrior comes out of nowhere and tries to kill you. its literally no different at all
In a forced 1 vs. 1 I would help my teammate. I mean, we are one team. In a duel, I will get flamed for helping (as Josh xt showed).

if a single player isn’t dueling. that player is roaming the map picking off another single player. duel or not
the whole basis of the general dueling wvw argument is that players are taking up queue space for other players that could be contributing by roaming to take camps and whatnot or join zergs.
so that being said. how is a 1v1 duels different, from a player roaming between camps and being forced into a 1v1 fight when a theif or warrior comes out of nowhere and tries to kill you. its literally no different at all
im still gonna go to wvw and duel, regardless of anyone opinion
Anet had no reason to reset wvw, I feel Anet did it out of their own convenience. i don’t see why they couldn’t wait til the end of the wvw week to drop the patch in. i was invested in last matchup of wvw. so i was annoyed that it ended short.
so here some question’s i want ask anyone in regards to wvw match making
considering the WvW match history is fresh and new with the rating still the same
1. is 4-5 days of wvw accurate data for this current matchup and future matchups?
2. is 7-9 days of wvw also accurate data for future matchups?
3. do we have room for data to be vastly different in general?
reading this section from the stickies
“Worlds that win, especially by a large margin, will have their rating increased by a larger amount than normal.”
i would like to think that alone would play some part of it. but then again im not a dev matchmaking in general is a hell of a thing to deal with but i still wanted to talk about it
so why was a new “currency” created in a way to use to buy siege equipment that you can already by with honor badges. if you had a lot of badges the constant stack of proofs of heroics are useless. make them not account bound. or, an actual currency
there is some decent truths that you brings up. moving on the subject on not doing meta builds. i understand that you don’t wanna do what others have already done.
but you can do fun weird builds in this game that other games normally wouldn’t allow you to do due to balance issues. which i encourage all new players to do at least one meta build even if they don’t like it. just so they can understand how skills and traits have synergies with everything else
only 2 reasons atm why i still play Gw2 is to do trashy potentially fun builds and playing with the small circle of friends that i have in Gw2
totally forgot megaservers was a thing, how kitten y of me. also im pretty sure its a server related issue. though i will admit that im using a pretty average pc rig, and maybe i could be still wrong. im already running the graphics settings on almost the lowest settings possible. and in the past 3 months of doing world bosses often this is the first time during a world boss that i’ve been booted.
thanks for telling me that there is a system in place. but according to the soft and hard cap theory it failed on me, which made me think that there wasn’t one in the first place
so by my understanding. the soft cap or hard cap would of been in effect when the game disconnects me. so when i try to reconnect its hits full cap. So at this moment im happy to believe that i was extremely unlucky more than anything else. and if this doesn’t happen often to anyone im more than happy to let this thread die
i joined a party to fight Tequatl for the world event. when the server for that map hit full capacity, the server disconnects me and others outside from the party. when i tried to rejoin with my party, it wouldn’t give me my original instance as that map because it was full, denying me my reward for my contribution
this may not be an issues on the higher populated servers. but since mine was medium at the time. there was only one zerg at fighting Tequatl
does this happen often to other players? if so will this happen a lot more in the HoT expansion?
I suggest that the server should have the ability to reserve 15-25 spots for players that randomly disconnect. and reserve that spot for that account for around 40 seconds or more for that map. if that time expires other players then should fill up the map capacity
you’re telling the community to solo roam in wvw when condition mesmers and 3 man theif ganks are a thing in wvw, I too would say this to the community if my main was a mesmer
but you should actually lower your expectations in wvw. the reward itself is when you find that one person that actually wants to duel you. if you go out by yourself and get ganked by 1-4 people. that should be your own fault for roaming alone. you should be ready for the worst if your roaming alone. your opinion is also unfair based on the fact that everyone should share same thought process as you. not everyone has the same goal
i don’t see the problem the same way as you do. but I can still understand why this annoys you. because there’s always more incentives to join zergs than there is to roam. though there’s always value in roamers on wvw,
maybe they should just add a dueling buff on wvw that only allows you interact and do damage to others players with the same buff. but that might and issue too because it might take the focus away from what wvw is mean’t for, team play
I’ll start with the bad since im still mad about it lol.
i got dc’d with 10 stacks and made me ragequit pretty hard. its an insane hindrance especially to others who cant spare time.
which leads to my next point. as the event stands when it comes time i need to spend to claim these cool rewards. i cant justify my time spent to do this event. i would rather level up my character or grind gear and gold than do this event.
Upside is, coordinating with a a whole heap of players on this event felt really fun. i have nothing against the gameplay itself when it comes to the event. its quite awesome to do so. would love so see more of this implemented on other maps on the future.
