This only happens in massive fights. If it is happening to you outside of these fights, you need a better computer and or isp.
this happens on a global map scale. whether your near the fight or not. it effects the server itself, not the computer or isp
So im from GoM thats paired with SoS, vsing FA and JQ
There’s been a lot of Talk that SoS wanting to throw the match to avoid being paired with T1 servers. that being said. im suspisous that JQ and FA are wanting the same thing.
Last week we had the same matchup, and won. as of this post, SoS is winning. when we would normally get steam rolled by both FA and JQ.
any thoughts. is this a concerning problem? can people from these servers give any input?

is it okay to use Foods and utilities to hit that minimum 1k if you are short on healing power? or are you missing out on potential gain from other consumables?
I will preface all of what I am about to type that I only play ventari in wvw, and am still getting a hang of it. Ventari is pretty terrible at self sustaining. All of the healing modifiers kit has are outgoing to allies.
Few pointers:
- Always look to round to even hundreds on healing power because selfless amplification only increases by 1 1/2% per hundred healing power. At 999 healing power you still have 13.5% vs 1k healing power you get a flat 15% from the trait . 1k healing power is where it becomes a worthwhile grandmaster.
- My build depending on food and sigils runs anywhere between 1-1.4k healing power. This is the sweet spot in my honest opinion.
- Healing power isnt huge gains, stacking our trait modifiers with food, transference and runes of the monk are huge gains tho. You can get over a 3x multiplier. Which means that 2.3k on tooltip is going to heal for roughly 7k.
- One thing I do abuse for self sustain, is sigil of draining. I expect it to be nerfed. I can get roughly a 1.3k heal on a single interrupt. I run mostly front line as a healer, and have healed upwards 6k from a single surge of the mist on 5 targets from the life steal.
- Tranquil benediction, bolster fortifications, and invigorating flow can sustain you in fights, but you need stab to not get locked down.
- I would highly recommend a hammer. It allows you to heal, and contribute damage from range. Be very careful hanging back vs melee trains.
I would not recommend ventari at all for small scale. As you are very easily singled out, and struggle to deal with any kind of CC. If you want to heal on rev in 2-10man grounds I would suggest taking staff + shield and take advantage of facet of lights regen and take mallyx over ventari.

Knowing that the patch is not too far, and knowing that ventari is considered not a viable stance to most rev players, and knowing that the stance is designed for group play, i have a question for the stance
how much healing power is required for the ventari stance needs to be able to self sustain itself in a solo setting, sucessfully? in all game modes pve/pvp/wvw
I will vigilantly stand by the point that ascended gear should not be easily accessible, i highly disapprove of the actions of Anet for allowing Ascended gear to be so easily gained through PvP ranked. is was an entierly dumb way to entice people to play PvP ranked and it set a bad precedent for people in WvW wanting the same thing
yes, im for people leaving wvw getting ascended gear, im not for those game modes making it so easy to the point that it impacts other game modes heavily. purely because how badly anet set the currency to be cheap and easy to obtain in PvP. heck, im sure there a good way to time gate/use currency to buy ascended gear in WvW, but i really dont trust Anet to put in a good way, to implement a system in gaining ascended gear with WvW currency.

Well maybe if you came back at me with more than “your argument holds no water cause reasons, go grind for mats” I would have bothered. I’ve given my fair share of input for wvw over the years, it’s the only reason I play gw2 for wvw, it’s god kitten sad the state it is in today, and even more sad when players come in here to hold back sensible improvements for it.
Also, player do step out of WvW to get the gear that they need, Why? because you have to, to play WvW
No kidding, that was my point. You think pve players like being forced into wvw? the majority of them don’t, the same goes for wvw players being forced into pve to get what they need for wvw.
Also I never asked for free ascended, I’m asking for a proper way to purchase ascended like pve and spvp has right now, we already have the free method it’s wait for 1/10000 chances to drop a random ascended box, which is also the worse way to obtain ascended in the game.
And no you don’t give two cares about wvw or improving it. You come in here to tell us we don’t need ascended, that you hope wvw never gets an easier way to obtain ascended when the other two game modes have it, including one that doesn’t even need it in the first place. That wvw is a bad game mode. FYI there’s already a gear barrier in place between ascended and fresh 80’s, there’s probably a decent amount of players with at least 1 set in wvw by now.
You want to hold that barrier in place to forcing new players and wvw players to go grind for mats and gold to make their sets, rather than maybe gearing up faster through wvw currency/gold instead. So that maybe those players can make up ground and be on a more even gear level, but oh no, you better go grind your mats and gold, you’re in a bad game mode and that’s all you deserve.
I’ve said my piece, regardless of whether or not stats between exotics and ascended make a difference to whomever, or whether you need it or not, wvw should be given the same access to the gear as the other two game modes.
without gear being a thing, there already a lot of barriers that stopping new players from playing WvW, making ascended gear more accessible wont fix the amount of issues or get rid of barriers that exist in the game. fresh players new to wvw wont have access to ascended gear. so you want to instantly put that disadvantage for new players with flimsy gear? thats entirely the reason why WvW is set up that way, as i already touched on, making ascended gear more accessible will create more problems than it will fix
im not for WvW being able to purchase ascended gear for WvW currecny. because you’ll just want people to come for WvW just for ascended gear and leave, thats now how you maintain a healthy population. we had this same issue during Christmas with PvP where people would leave WvW, making the game mode a wasteland on all sides, just to get ascended gear in PvP.
if they gave you more gold for playing in WvW, that im kinda for. because they can just buy the matts for the ascended gear or the exotic armor they need. or where cool kids do with their gold these days.
so thats why i can’t agree, but i understand your opinion, and it does have some merit to it. it just doesn’t help the little guys new players experience to get access to gear that he may never need

Because players do not want to step out of their main game mode to get the gear they want, what do you not understand about this? For 4 years wvw players have complained about having to go to pve to supply their main game preference, guild halls was a pve grind to get their bonuses in wvw, some of the new stats combinations were only available in pve.
How happy would pve players be if ascended only came from spvp? How do you think spvp players would feel about having to raid in order to unlock an amulet set?
Let me put things in another perspective in regards to the stats. How do you think players would feel in spvp if there were two sets of amulets available, one is exotics as it is right now, and one is ascended only available those that make it to legendary rank, do you think players would be happy with a divide in stats like that?
I have my ascended set, I still think it’s kittenkitten stupid that that they placed wvw under pve rules but don’t want to provide the gear there.
Still no reason why wvw shouldn’t get purchasable ascended gear, or better drop rates.

I hope WvW NEVER gets an easy way to get ascended gear. If every single player (or at least majority of them) had ascended gear, it would make it significantly harder for new players, it sets up the stupid precedent that you need ascended gear to play WvW. like it did for Raids. that you CLEARY dont need ascended gear for, but places a stupid barrier for new players.

Yeah exotic is fine as the baseline gear, but that’s no excuse as to why it’s not made more readily available instead of random 1 out of 1000’s of loot boxes, nevermind another game mode that doesn’t use it gives away a full set for playing it.
It’s pvp why wouldn’t you want to be wearing the best stuff to fight in? That stats however minuscule makes a difference in smaller fights, obviously not in a zerg where everything is covered by greater number of players.
those minuscule stats “can” make a difference, doesn’t mean it does. you can still get 3 shotted by anyone with zerk exotic gear. and you can still soak a lot of dmg using traits in your class against someone using full ascended gear. yes there are times when roaming ascended gear can do wonders but it only gets you so far.

but even in dueling stats are still a minor part in the large scheme of things, . ascended gear in duels only really comes into play when the duelers are both equal in skill, or when duels go for prolonged periods. the person with ascended gear (amusing that he/she is power based) is only getting and extra 350 ish dmg per auto or attack.
dont get me wrong. that 350 dmg can still add up in an important fight to get that last needed hit in. but based how varied duels can be. Gear in general is just one of many variants on why you can lose

People keep saying that WvW needs ascended gear to keep up with the meta, but the reality is, theirs so many mechanics in the game and varying builds in the game, that it doesn’t even matter how good the stats are on your gear.
Edit: i should clarify, i mean’t that its super easy to get countered
Pehaps im wrong and im trying to be open to the idea, but you should be fine with exotic. the stat gain from full ascended gear is still small
i still have good success using exotic gear in WvW, with zergs and roaming. and with the full ascended gear i do have i still get 2 shot by theives and zoned by druids.
my main concern is that people think they absolutely need Ascended gear to keep up, and when they finally get it. they get stun bursted by a warrior and then get over WvW

If you see an ANet dev on your server, its because they’re normal people who play the game too when they’re not working. ANet devs don’t take sides in WvW in any official manner, they just have ingame toons, sometimes they go to WvW, sometimes they claim stuff. That’s why you’ll only see them in NA primetime, rarely on EU primetime even in EU servers, or OCX/SEA times. They’re employees at ANet who go home after a long day of work and open up GW2 to chill and some of them play WvW.
It’s all a matter of your servers. For instance, I know there’s one guy who plays on SoS pretty regularly. He’s the one who claimed Air Keep for SoS today, I believe.
There’re no representatives. No select groups. Just individuals playing a game and using the ArenaNet guild in the same way as any other guild.
You got that exactly right. A lot of us play on our own time, and we have no special “dev secret skillz” to help a team in any capacity.

Nah, not laurels. I hate that time gated currency. And the new ascended vendors in PvE/PvP doesen’t require laurels either. Gearing up in WvW doesen’t have to be 10x worse.
You need acended armor to be time gated in some way. You cant have ascended armor be consistently farmable. If you do, about 50 items on the tp becomes useless.
The only way that i can viable see ascended armor in wvw is if anet did tournaments where you would use your wvw claim tickets. That way its at at least somewhat hard to obtain
But you can kill them, unlike the people on the servers you are facing,. Isn’t that some kind of love either?

World linking created more problems than it fixed. It made server jumping significantly easier thus resulting with the most inaccurate glicko system that anet ever had to deal with

Anet has put a lot of work into the wvw. Unfortunately they are forever constantly overlooking the problems in the game
i was in the same party as dragoneater.5601, and to add more insight. i also was punished with a 15 min dishonor. but was still given pips
from my experience alone using trapper runes and viper gear, here’s my two cents
the piercing light change is kind of a nerf. but the difference now is that change made piercing light possible to scale better than it used to be able to. trappers couldn’t do much with daze unless you could read the opponent really well. a lot of classes dont really care about daze. but slow affects significantly more classes
im finding my experiences fighting warriors a lot better, more than i used to be able to. mesmers didnt become harder to fight. they became different to fight. thieves are about the same. ranger and druids became significantly much easier to fight
daze was heaps better at interupting. but now its changed so slows are heaps better at applying pressure.
lets talk about skill, or should i say. what little skill some people have when they claim to have. since you guys like going on the tangent of me being bad player. my skill has very little to do with anything, i never said i was good.
reading an opponents class skill, and forcing them to waste it is very much a part any pvp or wvw, its a very important and rewarding skill to learn.
so if i can get this right. you guys, who accuse me of not being skilled or being salty. you guys cant be skilled players. if you purposely waste their abilties, go ooc and to go back in. you guys must be really bad players. because you guys should be able to do all of this in combat. if you have to abuse mechanics in a way its not mean’t to be used. what does that say about your so called skill and legit strategy?
if my suggested change says anything. if the change is implemented. it makes the more skilled players rewarded for being in combat. and it makes the playing field more equal for everyone else

I dont consider this to be a major issue – if someone has to abuse OOC to win fights then they suck, plain and simple. Yeah you may die to them, but at least you have your honor. This is the reason I never “duel” that thief clearly standing on the side challenging you to what they consider a fair 1v1. I will happily 5v1 on them whenever possible without remorse. Sorry good and skilled thieves, the tards have spoiled the class.
That said, I wouldnt really mind a tweak to this either. Regening a max of 50% HP OOC for example or something simple like that.
i dont mind your example. thanks for actually bringing it up. at least you are someone that can see past their own nose. i can also understand from your viewpoint why you also dont see this as a major issue. on smaller wvw servers when their only option is to roam and they encounter this more than they should

my only suggestion is whenever a player leaves combat. they dont regen their health instantly to full. they either must find a safe spot to use their heals or regen, heal on the go
Why is it fair that some classes can negate all physical damage while waiting out their cool downs? Why do some classes have passive traits that punish perfect burst or Cc? Those aren’t fair why should they be rewarded for failing to properly dodge an attack/Cc while at the same time CC’ing the attacker without the press of a button? At least disengaging and Re-engaging is an actual strategy and not passive gameplay. It’s called thinking strategically and wanting to win you use the classes/builds advantages to secure a victory.
And if they are out of combat so are you….. not simple to grasp you will only die if you wast CDs trying to chase them.
Oh I see now you are a Necro main…… hence the salt on mobility classes, yet has some of the most passive gameplay on certain builds in game to date.

Collectively the nature of people in this game mode is one that will bandwagon (tranfers) or exploit a scoring loop hole (nightcap). It’s human nature to find the easy path to succeed. They could blow it up and rebuild but people will always figure out new ways to exploit no matter how clever Anet is.
That said the game isn’t broken, there is solid competition in every tier if you seek it out.
WvW as a game mode works, doesn’t mean that it’s good. when the expectations of a game mode from a players viewpoint is so low that it’s easy to say that the game mode isn’t broken.
its not about the competitive environment at all. if you wanted a competitive environment you can join (if you’re lucky) a T1 server for an competitive environment. but for player that are in your normal WvW environment. its when players play the game as intended, Put in time and effort to complete an objective, just to have their hard effort go down the drain, just because they get butt fisted by the amassing amount of bad game mechanics that are literally in every aspect of WvW. and those massing numbers of bad non intuitive gane mechanics and issues, serve as barriers that stop people from wanting to play WvW
It is true that its human nature to find the easy way. but in any game. it shouldn’t come at the expense of another players fun or enjoyment
i did think of this as a concept and then realized why the idea wouldn’t work.
the concept itself seems pretty good on paper. but 2 things says that its a bad idea.
1. it heavily slows down the pace of the game and everyone on that map
2. you can organize a server. flip everything. and tell no one to join WvW for the next hour. hold all towers and keeps, rack up PPK and laugh as 3-4 people at max cap try to filp back their entire side of eb
as much as i like your suggestion. it still heavily favors bigger populated servers

no matter what server you join, you gonna learn a lot in any server that you join and start playing WvW. not only that your in a T1 server. that you’re gonna have quicker access to most of the content and the game on that server. purely based on how healthy that server is.
so no. its not a mistake. and if it was. you’ll learn what you can before you transfer to another server.
another piece of advice. follow zergs and random roaming groups. and engage in chat as where thats probably where you’ll learn a lot about wvw as well as putting your skills and knowledge into practice

The current Anet staff that is responsible for WvW, The staff does not have the sufficient resources or the capability to fix WvW, and they will never be able too.
If they have insufficient resources or capabilities to fix the current wvw model, what makes you think they will have enough to rebuild the game mode?
Most of their developers are working on the expansion or living story, wvw is not a priority for them and probably never will be, it’s back on maintenance mode.
i said that quote based on how the core game keeps developing overtime. the WvW team are put in a horrendous position where they’ll be forever be constantly patching the mechanics, bugs, and issues. where WvW will never become the game mode that the devs or the player base will be happy with, WvW as is. will never become the desired game mode that everyone wants.
with the release of HoT, dozens of new mechanics and classes changed the a fair couple of dynamics of WvW that old issues became overlooked. and new issues stacked onto those issues
WvW is too old as a game format to keep up. Making it from scratch, though would still take up significant time for dev’s, that option would have a higher chance to getting rid lot of issues, would still be easier, and would help the transition of the WvW game mode for the next expansion
In that order? Sure thing, remove WvW today and bring it back, oh in about 3 years or so.

not the point. if WvW wants to be good or stay good. you have to rebuild WvW from the ground up to cater to all the changes that has happen, or will happen
from all the complaints and peoples genuine issues that people face on a daily basis in WvW. and how many issues that the WvW dev team has tries to address. maybe i have

and its not so much the team’s fault. WvW relies on the core game to be tweaked or balanced in order for WvW to even slightly work. add 4 years of patches and an expansion and the and WvW mode become more dysfunctional over time.
i propose that the anet team takes notes on what made WvW good, and just rebuild the game mode from the ground up. you get rid of a lot of problems that you never have to address. and the veterans that have stopped playing gw2 that made WvW a fun game mode to begin with. will come back to gw2 to play. that way you can create a game mode the can cater for patches and future expansions. which is what the current WvW suffers from
On the topic of crowd control, a lot of the important skills that necro has, has long channel times. which means you are forced to run one of the only 2 two stability skills just so you can cast your other channel skills
necros are in this weird spot in the meta when it comes to certain game mode type. PVE and fractals are fine for necro’s, due to the heavy reliance on co ordination and synergy to get objectives done.
this is mainly to due to being able to be a huge damage sponge, where the trade off is having a lack of defenses
however with the result of the expansion in PvP and WvW, necros are put in this werid spot where. if you dont have a buddy, you will die. because being a damage sponge when you soak a lot of damage with very little way to mitigate damage or to protect yourself. you need boons from other classes for you to be able to even do anything.
and yeah. it probably sounds stupid, that Gw2 is a team based game and requires teamwork, but the reality is, No other class has this burden. the fact that any other 2 classes already have the luxury and choice to synergies with any other class. with minimal effort in comparison to what a necro must do to be as viable
if i could recommend a fix. give necro’s more ways to protect itself in the specializations. as opposed to relying on conditions to a distance from a single target

im guessing the game can’t connect to our gem stash due to irregular server stability atm
Update: i got my 4 gems back. if people did lose gems. i would go check to see if you got your same amount of gems back into your account
its been happening to a lot of other people in the game too. we’ll just have to wait for anet to respond

im missing a whole 3-5 gems, resulting my total gems down to 0. but theres a lot of other people in game that has been saying they lost thousands of gems
can anet look into this? can also other people in this thread confirm that they lost gems and have 0 gems in their account?
Spectral grasp is still a bad skill even with the cooldown reduced slightly with the last balance patch. and its simply because the speed is too slow. the further the target is away from you, the more time that the target has to respond, they can dodge, block, gain stability or simply move out of its range.
i suggest one of the following
1. Significantly reduce the cooldown down to 12-14 seconds. and reduce the lifeforce gained from this skill to make up for its lack of ability to be able to hit anything
2. change the range from 1200 to 1500
3. increase the missile speed of spectral grasp

That said, it is part of the game and probably shouldn’t be changed at this late date. I do wish Klovan and Wild Creek had spots that allowed for better counter siege course it is offset by Aldons and Jerri being the most difficult to take when a server defends well.
i personally dont wanna use this strategy 2 years down the track in WvW. because as an exploit, its a mechanic that stops Anet being able introduce new things into WvW. any new strategy or mechanic that could be introduced in the game may be redundant knowing this exploit exist.
trebs and shield gens are generally last resort theses days.
but there is a surprising few spots around eb at least. i can think of 6 spots off the top of my head. with 1 of em being literally impossible to defend while in towers (which is klovan).
the other thing while in theroy you can always set up counter siege to hit it. there are spots where you have to leave the tower to set up counter siege, not only that it makes it harder than it should be, but it makes certain sides of eb more unbalanced based on the exploits.
its been a issue for a long while. and im sure that there have been many posts about it. so sorry if it sounds like an old topic.
Splash damage should ONLY happen when the boulder directly hits a gate,wall, player, anything that takes damage. splash damage should not happen when it hits terrain.
this is to address 2 problems. one of relying on splash damage to hit walls through terrain, thus unable to use shield generators, ballistas and sometimes arrow carts to hit the catapult due to hugging the terrain. also no projectile actually being shot so cant use generator.
secondly. to make it more aesthetically pleasing. to see a wall going down and seeing a projectile hitting it. not only fustrates veterans that end up doing the same exploit. but it confuses newer players
you are defiantly right about population issues. based on how the servers are set up there’s no easy way to fix population issues.
as much as i enjoyed and valued your post jana. i didn’t mean to go off topic from my original point. i originally wanted to address anet’s priories in the first place when introducing changes and how it didn’t address issues players deal with on a daily basis. and based how insanely complex WvW can be. its really hard to address them fix them all. and even harder for a developer to interpret how an issue is considered a problem at all.

They did try that – with the server linking which was the wish of a lot of people on the forums (not exactly in that way, I know, but it’s really hard to sort even that out).
You have to look at the bigger picture: There’s your issues with wvw/anet and there are a lot of people who have got issues. A lot measure how well wvw is cared for on how many red posts this forum has got, a lot measure it on how many polls there are (I guess), a lot take new features for a measurement.
And honestly: Wvw needs slow changes so we can see how all of it turns out: I really wished they had implemented the autoupgrades a lot sooner so we could have given our feedback without being distracted by the HoT classes, tactivators, new guild buffs, DBL..
i will definitely say my issues are based of my experience in WvW and my judgement on anet is currently based on my current WvW experience. Its also important to establish the fact you can approach WvW in so many ways to the point that each players experience will all differ. which is very important in regards to world linking.
the current quad server that im against on NA, and may well be stuck vs’ing against for the next 6 weeks. is a good example on how my player experience is currently negatively affected, however. if you happen to be on one of the 4 servers. the amount of options and opportunities that are presented to you are endless.
world linking in my experience has only highlighted issues that already existed. being outnumbered on a daily/monthly basis is bad enough. theres now even more room for players to xfer onto the quad server, which is what WvW players have been doing for years. To gain access to best opportunities that WvW has to offer, they have to jump onto the bigger/winning server.
maybe it does take a repair hammer poll to measure players feedback on the current WvW experience. but you dont need a poll to measure already legitimate problems in WvW. if you have a topic that has 50 replies to work with. the amount of time invested into making a poll, they could of been used to read a big post.
also i probably should highlight that our expectations of thousands of people will never match that of a small group of people on a games designers.
i understood your post pretty well. theirs so much complexity its hard to narrow down on the core issues that makes WvW an subjectively non fun game mode
based on the complexity of the Format of WvW. i think its important at this point that they just concentrate on “fixing” issues, more than “changing” or adding new features. the more issues you can fix in a game, the easier it is to find the core problems of WvW. the more problems that can get fixed, the easier it become to implement changes.
