That’s one of the worst ideas i’ve ever seen.

It’s basically powerleveling your alts by buying stuff from the CS.

It’s really unfair for those who don’t have a lvl80 zerk warrior to spam dungeons and GG, alt to 80 in what? half week?. I think It would be even better to just sell Tomes of knowledge in the CS, as it’d “fair” for more people (those who CS, while your suggestion is for those who CS “and” have a lvl80 zerk warrior).

Maybe, just maybe, you could make it like it doesn’t get EXP points, but % of levels, and even put in a penalty. Look at it as a “Tome of knowledge” maker, with a rather small max ammount of levels (maybe 5?)

This way with one run you wouldn’t get your lvl1 alt to lvl20, but to 70% of lvl1, just like if your alt had run that dungeon.

What i don’t like is the part “of each server”.
There are servers that population is really low. Now split this population in 2 servers.

I think it would be better to make an overflow-ish server (this is, a server that’s shared among other servers) with beta stuff in it for people to test it out.

But still, I don’t think people would go there. You know, it’s just “that buggy server” with some buggy new features. And I think it would be a mistake to put LS releases in there before putting them to “production servers”, as it may spoil things to players.

Personally, I rather how it is now. OK, we get few bugs here and there, but most of them get fixed in 1-3 days, so just be patient.

So no update until April the 18th?

Ahh.. MMO. Where everyone complains about everything on each decision the developers make.

And I guess we will still get 1 update every 2 weeks. But the “big feature patch” will be at 18th.

edit: I don’t believe they will leave Lion’s Arch destroyed like it is now. Else so many parts of the personal story would be unconsistent.

Underwater damage

How come the ele have only 1 weapon to “choose from” for underwater?

I feel really really useless underwater. The most damage i can do is with fire, boiling the water and shooting those eggs that explode after 2 seconds.
The problem is that the only underwater weapon we can have it’s ranged, so it’s damage is way less than others that are close-range, and the skills that deal most damage are skills that needs your enemy to stay in his spot (so you can’t be running in circles, else those eggs won’t pop in their faces).

The only thing it “might” be usefull is for CC in PvP. But in PvE… Oh look, i’m making my foe float. Now stun. Now sink. Great.

So.. No account bound WXP?

They told everyone what was going to be in this “maintenance” patch, why would you assume they would put this in it??? Just because the season has started does not mean that account bound wxp cannot be added in. The feature patch is coming beginning-mid april so I would assume it might be in there although I wouldn’t get your hopes all the way up just in case since they haven’t told us anything about the feature patch yet. BUT they are going to start telling us whats in it and talking about it on the next ready up it seems so stay tuned.

We assume that they won’t put that in it until season 2 is over because making account bound WXP implies a trait reset (What would happen if a char has different/same traits than another one… how do they merge? The easiest thing is just to reset them) and the mail that you get just after logging in tells you that we won’t get any more trait resets until the season is over.

So either:
→ We really won’t get account bound WXP at least until june
→ The mail text it’s a copy-paste from Season 1, and they will reset the traits again before the next season starts.

So.. No account bound WXP?

Just the way they said it it looked like it was to be implemented for season 2 (but now that’s a tournament), along with those small balances in classes and runes/sigils.

It’s something that we’ve allways been begging for. And i got to say it’s a huge disapointment for me.

I think not. I read other posts (and the FAQ) but it doesn’t say it explicitly.

I think this patch will only take out the glory rewards, right? (like when you play a game now you won’t get glory from it)
But if the vendor is staying, we really don’t have to spend it now, and we can wait a bit, right?

Also, what happens with gear/mats? They say “they won’t convert/remove them by now” but will the mats still be usefull? Or I should put them all in the forge today?

You know the rubberbanding effect on the teleport skills? (blink, shadowstep or lightning flash).

Most of the times it happens when you want to teleport to another surface (for instance, you are in the ground and you want to teleport to some stairs to win some time).

I understand this thing is a safety measure for exploits, so it’s better to keep it. But!:
1. There are still exploits with this skill. See Ascalonian Catacombs P1 sellers. For some reason most of them are thieves, elementalists or mesmers. Wasn’t the warrior the best class for PvE-solo? How come all the AC P1 sellers are thieves?

2. Wouldn’t it be good that if you use this skill and get rubberbanded the cooldown gets reset? Sometimes it has happened that i’m about to die, rooted/stunned, I try to teleport somewhere else but snap! it failed. And I have a 60 sec cooldown so I don’t have any chance to survive.

If we get the skill reseted, at least we’d have a second chance to escape….

Guess what? now it’s more unfair.

The “In Tune” and “No More Tricks, Scarlet” achievements are no longer awarded to players that leave the Prime Hologram encounter before it is completed.

Scarlet has activated additional defenses on the Breachmaker during the Prime Hologram encounter. Thirty seconds into the battle, lasers will target the areas near the entrance portal and the elevator leading to the Breachmaker’s interior. Being hit by these attacks will count against the “No More Tricks, Scarlet” achievement.

Yet again, it’s harder to get the achievements for people that haven’t get them yet.
My proposal is either take off those achievements from everyone or either make this “bugfixes” before releasing the LS.

Let me quote from “Polished Content?” thread.

We’ll use the longer break to spend extra time to ensure that our final four releases are as polished and exciting as possible.

I think the “longer break” you didn’t take in polishing the game, but in holidays. It’s ok, it’s normal. Everyone has the chance to get holidays for christmass/new year. But at least don’t lie.

So basically with this last patch (50 per boss max) there’s LUCKY people who got the achievement the “easy” way, and now who doesn’t have it have to make it the hard way.

Nice.

Basically, in my server we went from each time killing all boses being close to the 6 min to completely fail the event. And we knew that now there was 50 people per boss at max, since we had 3 commanders synchronizing all 3 points.

The problem? We weren’t 150 in that server. While red was ~50, blue and green was ~20. Epic scale system.

edit: Don’t get me wrong. I like anti-zerg stuff. But this should’ve be done from the start. Or you should take out from everyone that achievement. It’s about unfairness.

I found what it was.

They decided It’d be a nice idea to include the option to put the voice in spanish, when they don’t have any voice in spanish.

Putting it back to english solved it.

I just discovered i can’t hear dialog voices. I noticed it this week playing PvP after ~3 without playing PvP that the voice “You captured the [CP]!” was off, and I thought it was just a bug for everyone.

But now with scarlet’s cutscene, the NPCs just don’t talk. I see the text, ofc, but there’s no more sound than the music.

And yes, I checked my Dialog volume slide bar, but it just doesn’t work.

edit: I also deleted my local.dat file, but it still doesn’t work.

And now that I think off, i think it was in the last’s patch. With the Taimi release I could hear Taimi’s voice. And right after the lion’s arch attack, I couldn’t.

(You know the cutscene of LA being attacked? I don’t know if that was supposed to have some dialog, but I couldn’t hear a thing).

Crowd Control, not damage is the Thief’s greatest enemy.

I understand their frequent stealths and teleports can be really irritating, especially if you don’t know them in detail, but Thieves do die, and die quite easily.

It’s just that conventional damage isn’t the best way to kill them.

CC and conditions will melts a Thief any time of the day. That’s why Engineers counter Thieves quite hard.

There’s no way to CC them. They just jump through CCs, and if you freeze them they just keep spamming one fast skill, leaving the freezing useless.

Personally I think a thief is boring. I played it for a week (you know, make one lvl1, pick a decend build and have fun) and I killed all the lights so easily. Heavy armor i failed, but bc I was noob thief.
But i just got bored of targeting lights and killing everyone so I just deleted it. IMO thief it’ss just an easy class. And I laugh so much when I manage to kill a glass canon thief with my staff ele. lol.

And nope. What i’m saying that the solo queue for me it looks like it goes by days. Some days are great (you match (you are in the team) with “pro” people) and some days you only get noobs in your team.

Is it me, or for some reason I find that some days I get with “super noob” people no matter how many matches I play (like I lose the 5 or 6 matches I play) where everyone is “noob QQing” (you know, the typical “OMFG you noobs suck!”) and other days are completely the opposite, I get with pro people with who I win all the matches. Also some days with not these extremes.

But for me it looks like each day it’s different. Like they’re telling me “Hey, today you will probably fail all your matches because we’re teaming you with noob people” and other days like “Bingo! today it’s your lucky day! You’re gonna win everything!”

My stats are 165 solo-queue matches, 84 of them wins (that’s 51% of wins) so I don’t feel like I’m a drag for all the parties.

Guild World Bosses?

I’m also in a guild that kills these bosses. But it’s not a guild say.. like a family. It’s just purely for the organization of the server, so we all know when we will kill that boss and so on.

And yes, i’m saying bosses that are targeted for guilds. But the bounties I think they don’t work that good, as they are way easier than Tequatl.

And by easier I don’t mean they have less HP. I mean the mechanics are not that good. And the timer you have to look for them it just sucks.

I’m asking for bosses with at least the mechanics of tequatl but that can be killed by 20 people (or scalable to whatever). I think that’d be enough, as you can have 4 parties with a different role in each one.

They are called bounties.

They’re not world bosses. The thing that the search is timed really kittenes me off, and even more if you are UNLUCKY and you have to look for it right after another guild just killed it. Then you really don’t have time to look for it.

And the mechanics are not as worked as Tequatl’s or Wurm’s. Oh look, when it has this buff you don’t hit it, else you get frozen and don’t DD. Nice.

Wouldn’t it be more fun if instead of making world bosses server-wide (where it ends up being more zerg-like) make bosses that can be farmed by guilds?

Personally I find more amusing to do stuff with my guildies instead of with people I really don’t know (plus all the afks or non-TS players that keep people in overflow’s).

I just… don’t know. Tequatl feels boring… I go to my server TS, the commander says “jump… turrets… poison… batteries… hit…” and we win. And Wurm feels impossible, we’re allways in one phase. I mean, sure it’s still better than the other 2 dragons, but still…

I think it would be better to have bosses for guilds. Then you can plan strategies, organize parties and roles within a run. And to kill the boringness of “having to farm everyday” i’d say put a week-wide diminishing returns for all the guild.

I mean, how are the matches done?

[lemme switch “server” for “player” and make 1vs1 matches, for the sake of simplicity]

As I just researched (wikipedia FTW), it’s aim is to match higher-rank players with higher-rank players without pairing them twice.

What I don’t understand if this “without pairing them twice” means twice in a row or twice in the whole tournament.

Can anyone make me an example with 6 players? As far as I understood it’s as follows:
[playerN allways wins to playerN-K ]

Round 1:
1vs4 -> Wins 1
2vs5 -> Wins 2
3vs6 -> Wins 3
ranks:
1 point: 1, 2, 3
0 points: 4, 5, 6

Round 2:
1vs3 -> Wins 1
4vs6 -> Wins 4
2vs5 -> Wins 2 (wooops!)
ranks:
2: 1, 2
1: 3, 4
0: 5, 6

Round 3:
1vs2 -> Wins 1
3vs4 -> Wins 3
5vs6 -> Wins 5
ranks:
3: 1
2: 2, 3
1: 4, 5
0: 6

Round 4:
But here the preference is to match ties, so I have something I don’t want:
2vs3 -> Wins 2
4vs5 -> Wins 4

And then the next would be 1vs2, 3vs4 and 5vs6, where we’re repeating some matches again.

Lack of inventory space annoying

I had 20 slots space in my inventory now I have 160 and I salvage stuff with my Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic. I played mostly World vs World in early 2013 and I did not have the urge to farm gold. The gold came to me by just enjoying the game. Then, I converted gold to gems and bought bag slots and 20 slot bags.

That’s a bit tricky though
Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic is a Gem store item.

And when you convert gold to gems you’re indirectly also paying money to Anet, since there was another player that converted his gems (bought with $) to gold.

Anyway, i really don’t think it’s a problem. You have enough bag slots to get lots of space (just buy 18-space bags), and you can allways get all collectibles directly in your bank, saving up a lot of space.

And think that many games you have to go to the TP agent to sell your stuff. Or even set up a shop and stay afk during hours.

After all this time in BugWars2 it feels like they are stealing our money.

50€ for a MMO it’s cheap as hell. And I have 5.000 gems i bought only with gold, i have spent 0 with real money.

They’d be stealing if there was a monthly fee of 10-20€, or it was a P2W game (personally I feel really scammed with a P2W game where I spent 1.500€. Will NEVER happen again [if you are courious to know, PWI. Never ever ever play that kitten game.]). They stole my money in that game.

I’ve just had an idea for a more convinient matches.json, shrinked down to ~1/4 of the size of the current response:

I really don’t use the API but I know about API design.
This looks good, because the size gets really smaller, but it’s not as self-explanatory as the current.

What I mean is that I first looked into your idea and there were parts that I didn’t understand:
-> What’s start and end?
-> Why EU and NA “objects” have indexed values (“1”: {}, “2”:{}, “3”:{}, …) instead of making them an array?
-> If i didn’t know about WvW matches (which I do), what does b, g, r mean? (yea, I knew it’s blue green red, but I really wouldn’t know)

Then I looked at the current version and I could understand everything:
-> Each match “object” has start_time and end_time, with a human-readible date format (And then I found out you put it as UNIX timestamp, that’s great for computers)
-> Each match object has it’s match id, composed by 2 numbers. I suppose the ones that start by 1 is one region and the ones that start by 2 is the other, and then they’re numbered. But you really can’t split this thing, as it’s an id. You really shouldn’t care about what does it mean
-> Each map has it’s name (red world, blue world and green world)

In conclusion:
-> I like the UNIX timestamp. APIs are for computers, not for humans
-> It’s also great that it takes less bandwith
-> But at the cost of making the json not self-explanatory. I really would make some hybrid that anyone can still understand but takes less bandwith than the current one. Else why don’t you just pass binary data instead of json?
-> I wouldn’t split the id’s. I would do {"EU":{"1-1":{…},1-2,“NA”:{"2-1":{…},2-2. (or changing 1 by 2, idk which is eu and na…) Id’s can’t be splitted. They identify something. [Actually, the id’s should be “EU-1”..“EU-N” and “NA-1”…“NA-N” but… that could be hard to change]

What I mean is that APIs are made for computers, so it should be fast for a computer to process the data. But it also has to be understandable for a developer.

I got them for free and now i’m concerned they will say it’s a kind of “exploit”, since I don’t see any announcement that each player gets 1 of these items for free.

It’s still lazzy and people who in the community that deem it so have the right to make their opinion heard. I myself consider these Flameskins as lazzy, lets-make-a-quick-buck and uncreative armor.

This is not the road that I want Guild Wars 2 to take.

I really hate when I find out that a “New armor skin” is just some old skin with a sparky effect on it.

Can’t they just get creative and make something new? Or maybe “based on”, but not plain copy-paste with some particles here and there.

PVP player check & AFK penalty

I like the ready check idea. But as it is now they should make some kind of penalty. It really takes out the fun of solo arena PvP.

Today I just had one match where everyone but me was afk in the first minute. I thought it was a joke, but one started moving after a while, 2 others disconnected from the game and the other spent afk ’till the end.
1vs5. Awesome

Well, i spent the rest of the match dancing… better to dance than to cry.

Making them account bound doesn’t let you farm then. It’s all about luck (ahh.. famous RNG) if you will get one exotic. And it’s really shamefull if it’s not the one you want and all you can do is destroy it.

Player body-body collision?

It’s impossible to implement in a MMO.

Mainly because of the lag. The guy you see in your screen it’s really not there. What you see is a prediction of “on where he is, knowing that [insert lag here] seconds before was on that other position and moving at that speed”.
Although you would collide with others, and you would find that as ok, you would see very weird things on others. People getting blocked where there’s noone or people going through others where there is someone.

The only way it works if they kind of enter in a state where they can’t move and they do block. I can imagine someone like holding a shield and nailed in the ground. Then yea, no problems for the lag/position prediction.

It’s just impossible in MMOs, where you can have lags of 2 seconds easily (Client→Server→Client).

Or you can make it server-side, but then you’d have rubberbanding and that’s just another job for the server, to check wether to guys collide. I’d rather not to.

But yea, it’d be nice to have it. Would make the game more reallistic.

4 vs 5 PvP

I know that probably this has been talked here like a lot.

Solo arena -> Game starts -> Someone DCes -> Unfairness for the outnumbered team.

Wouldn’t it be possible and good to have an outnumbered buff? Something like getting more HP (the ratio between the two teams.. then it’d be 20% more HP)

At least it wouldn’t be that unfair. And buff the HP instead of the attack because else berserkers get even more OP (probably they would 1-hit everyone…).

The only thing that cheers me up is knowing that it might happen to me as well. But the frustration of having 4 vs 5 matches it’s too big… I have the sensation that i’m allways in the outnumbered team (although I know it’s not true…)

It takes me about 10 – 15 minutes to get into a Solo Queue match, which in my opinion, is way too long (in the Guild Wars 1 days, it often took less than 30 seconds to get into a Random Arenas match).

Obviously trolling. I never had that much waiting time. It’s also 30 seconds, and in the few worst cases, at most 3 minutes.

Go to lions arch via the pvp menu (no cost), teleport to asura gates (no cost), travel to any city (no cost)?

But when you’re in lion’s arch (being free teleport from anywhere), what motivation do you have to go to your city? You just stay in lion’s arch.

If the free teleport was directly to your city, then it’d be better, from OP’s point of view. And of course, from your city you can asura gate to Lion’s arch (in case you want to meet with someone else, events, whatever…)

So… either I just can’t do this daily, I’m very lucky and get a finisher drop (which I still didn’t ever had) or spend 600 gems to buy the finisher.

Is this a joke? Why are Gem users getting a clear advantatge over non-Gem users? (They are able to finish a daily achivement) I thought Gem was staying to beat laziness…

And don’t tell me I can buy it with gold. I’m not spending 40 gold to finish a daily.

My necro is lvl20, and by now i’m too lazy to back it up again to see it’s counterparts.

Mainly I PvP with GS mesmer or with full support ele (Staff), and I allways get stuck when fighting vs minion necros.

The only chance I had one time is with the ele, while healing myself a lot, doing all AoEs ’till all the minions just died, and then, when I was almost dead (yea, 5-6 minions + necro going crazy DDing) try to kill the necro.

What is the best way to kill it? What are it’s weakness? This question is not in a specific class way, but in a general (that’s why it’s in Necro forum and not in ele/mesmer/whatever).

There’s a lot of “complaints” from people about how GW2 said it was a horizontal progression game instead of a vertical one, and with ascended gear they got verticality.

Myself I think vertical is not bad, while the effort to make a higher-rate gear is proportionally (or even more) higher.

But I wonder… how can a game be horizontal gear-wise? Yea, by the looks. But I think that some time there will be 3 or 4 skins that look really awesome and the others are just “crap”, and it will be so hard to make another skin that’s “prettier” than these other 4s. Then horizontal progression means no progression at all (once you have your set with your skins, you don’t ever have to upgrade it?).

I mean, with vertical progression you can allways add stats into the gear. Theoretically there’s no limit. But I really see a limit if there’s “Max” stats and then everything goes by the look. And I know it really depends (“Every man to his taste”), but there are skins that almost everyone agree that they look awesome.

Personally I think that grinding/looting/crafting (when used in moderation) is one of the things that keep people in MMOs.

FIRST CASE:
For example…in many games you can “enchant” your weapon….the more you enchant it the more you risk to lose enchantments or similar.

But there is a store item that will avoid this effect.

Now at a certain point the effort to enchant it becomes so extreme, that you actually need the shop item…..

In Gw2 we have exactly the same….now with the gem becoming out of reach due to the system that is clearly designed to make gem unaccessible the more time pass…

SECOND CASE:
There are indeed pve items in the shop that gives you a HUGE advantage.

RESS orbs repair canister are just a couple example

When the game was released the only reaso it wasn t considered a P2W game by most reviewers was the low conversion cost gold to gem making buying GOLD unefficient and gemstore accessible by playing.

Since there we saw a 300% increse in gold to gem…..AND Patches explicitly forcing players into buying GEM items
(Ascended armor/weapons while keeping expensive skins at exotic, and the infamous upgrade extractor).

1. I really don’t know where do you have this kind of “enchament” in GW2? Infusions maybe? or just runes, that cost, at much 5 gold?

2. Ress orbs → Oh, i died here Q.Q. Wait, I can res for 3 silver or I can buy a CS item that’s worth 10 gold so I can rez. Yay! i just rezzed!

Repair → I really never found myself with broken stuff. You have so many things to break and there’s a chance that nothing gets break that before I get anything broken I’m right into one city to repair. And dungeons have their own repair NPC. And again, it’s cheapest to pay just 10 silver than 10 gold-worth.

Craft booster → It’s just a help. Seriously, 50% is nothing compared to P2W games, where you can get x12 (that’s 1.200%) boost.

Also, maybe I missed it, but I haevn’t seen scrolls in the CS. Only from mob drops / Anniversary reward / Achievement reward.

I can see your point here. But there’s not “too much” difference in stats between a 2g rare and a 50g exotic weapon. Just for the looks

And remember that who sets the price is not the dev’s, but the playerbase. If gem price is now 7g it’s because players think that it’s worth 7g. If it weren’t worth 7g people would stop buying it and the price would go back down.

Also, remember that back when the game started, getting 1 gold each day was nearly impossible. Now it’s easier than ever.

This access slowly became a wall….infact was considered a non P2W when the gold to gem was less than 30 silver to 100 gems.

Now its near 300% of that….controlled by players or not, its defining this game as a common korean grinding game with P2W…

Right when gold to gem was less than 30 silver, it was almost impossible to make 1 gold in one day. Today it’s really easy.

I kinda have the other problem… loading screens are too fast.

When they’re finished there are lots and lots of textures that haven’t been loaded yet, and they appear as transparent. Objects, skills and ground invisible, making it almost impossible to play

How you'd feel about a anti stability trap?

But I agree that a skill single-targeted that takes down only stability would be nice. Just put it in the most “useless” class in WvW (maybe enginieer?), so it gets a bit more balanced. And it wouldn’t be effective vs zergs, since its single-targeted.

With the current boon rip skills it’s actually a matter of luck to take out stability to a guardian. Just take null field, it rips 2 boons every tick, that’s every ~2-3 seconds. A guardian when he puts on stability he knows that and puts like 10 buffs on him. The probability to rip stability is very, very small.

If no more LS updates until Jan 21...
