Critical Strikes
I Furious retaliation: pretty selfexplanatory
X Critical haste: increases dps since we are ranged anyway
25 First strikes: +10% dmg IF initiative is over 6 (which basically is always)[remember this, i’ll do a thing where i blow your kittening mind]
XI Executioner: selfexplanatory
Acrobatics
more dodges = less dmg received = more initiative = more dps
Trickery
V Thrill of Crime: meh just another fury /swiftness buff imo
VII Bountiful theft: boon rip
25 Lead attacks: [about to blow your kittening mind right about now] 1% dmg per initiative which would be 12-15% dmg.
so let’s stack up the dmg increases on this build:
10% first strikes
20% executioner (if threshold is matched)
15% lead strikes
10% from scholar runes (you should be at full hp all the time)
Tripwire and D/D
shortbow will most likely drive your target insane and he will just try to rush you down.
tripwire = knockdown
(if your target stunbreaks use basilisk venom, most people only run 1 stunbreaker)
d/d = backstab while knocked down / paralyzed
by any means, this build is just an idea, it doesn’t deal the highest dmg, nor is it fun to play (unless you are as sadistic as i am and love to annoy your opponent), it’s just an idea and i’d love to hear your guys feedback.
since thief is being classified as annoying anyway why not go balls out.
Critical Strikes VIII – Signet Use. Reduced initiative gain from 2 to 1.
A useless trait that became more useless.
it’s not useless, signet use also decreases signet cooldown by 20% which was pretty sick for people like me who use signet of agility (+2 rolls every 24 seconds) and infiltrator’s signet (another shadowstep to close the distance and a stunbreak every 24 seconds)
kinda seems like a waste now with only 1 init gain on usage though.
ill miss this one.
agreeing with the posters before me, better stay in meele range instead of using P/P just makes you lazy and not being able to dodge properly, my go to weapons for pve are s/p – d/d and s/d for bosses who buff themselves (to steal mightstacks etc.) also P/P dmg is kind of low compared to d/d.
so all in all, thief deals dmg but is squishy, you have to rely on your dodges to make things work.
Quit crying and l2p the actual thief class. Not this stupid d/p or s/d cheese in WvW or spvp respectively.
The tell that to all the “meta” builds for all the other classes, thief is a Hit and Run class, a evasions class.
There will always be the “Meta” build, STOP HATING we just lost some of our only meta builds while other classes gets to keep there builds.

it was a good run. lots of fun, many clutch situations which we loved to escape as a sneaky thief. but not this patch, this is where we make our final stand bretheren.
- Class balance is getting worse and worse, after Spirit Rangers now Warriors. It is disgusting how strong Warrior is right now
- We have been asking, begging for new map modes since forever now, no, better releasing some temporary content for PvE
- Map balances, we hate Skyhammer and underwater combat, yet who cares right? Why would you fix it? It’s not like everyone hate it
- Rewards hahahahahahahahabahah, there is no rewards for sPvP
- Anet keeps promising they will fix sPvP, but all im seeing is living world every week
sPvP could have been so much more….

hello mesmerians,
I’m having some issues with my mesmer, mostly disengaging fights (ex-thief player here, one of the big reasons i played thief, was how easy it was to disengage, 3x shadowstep + steal / withdraw etc.).
Another issue would be mobility, i love to roam by myself but i have no swiftness or 25% movement speed signet on mesmer, i dont really wanna run around with focus n use 4 all the time and switch back, gets annoying after a while. i also don’t really want to use pack-runes, because the condition removal on mesmer is bad enough, i need my lyssa-runes. is there any way to get some sort of swiftness easily?

instead of 20 in acrobatics i would go 20 in trickery and pick side strikes for a little more damage, also thrill of crime to give you a fury boon since you aren’t using furious retal in crit strikes(also gives u 3 additional initiative, kinda good since you have 0 initiative regen whatsoever except roll for initiative). hidden killer is argueable, sine your crit chance is 55% i’d use executioner.
edit: also getting close to your opponent is gonna be tough since u only have steal and no other shadowstep at all. (they could basically kite you out)
edit2: your bane are going to be conditions btw :S
I’m not saying it’s the best but i’m using my own creation:
fluid strikes is a huge dmg bonus, also encourages you to dodge regularly, since u almost got full uptime on vigor its pretty handy.
you can replace signet of shadows with signet of precision but i like the movementspeed.
you can replace V in trickery with IV.
i also use d/p against warriors, works perfectly fine with that build, not much 5 + 2 backstab spamming though since i rather focus on blinds.
it requires good timing to kill a d/p thief, they usually have only 1 stunbreak, make them waste the stunbreak, once they reveal without a stunbreak u just have to burst them down, you also have to guess a lot while they are invisible, just make sure to turn around / change directions often so they miss their backstabs

i hope you do mean wvw, it is viable for solo roaming, in pvp not so much
also i did this build in only like 5 minutes so, feel free to change stuff, personally i’d go for signet of shadows instead of blinding powder but up to you

Jonathan Sharp once said on SotG that they thought about it, but they won’t add it because they want to keep it casual and it would be too much for newer players. but it would be cool if you could choose at least the active skill you want out of those 4.

As a viewer of the match, it was insanely fun to see those amazing players actively countering the passive procs. Also, the game was clear as water, at every fight of the game i was able to enjoy the skills and counterskills used by each of team.
The matches were really close, and they strike to me as very decent and nice guys.
Can’t wait to see them in another tournament, so i can enjoy the teamfights and the active counter of passive procs again.

d/p definetly has more burst than s/d, i’ll stick to s/d though just because of the daze / boon removal. all up to you.
the npc Detha Tremblestone always glitches out before ghosteater.. at the part where she is supposed to deploy the traps while ascalonian ghosts attack you, but nothing is happening she just stands in the middle of the room and that’s it. happened at the last 3 runs everytime. someone please look into it
shadow trap works for me, i’m not sure if you are aware of the fact that shadowtrap has a range of 10 000?

hello everyone,
kinda gettin sick of hotjoin, started tournament pvp solo queue but it’s just not the real thing since it always doesn’t really work out and getting stomped by a longterm team is kinda frustrating so it’s time for me to get my butt in a team.
to my personality: 22 years old from germany. I’m pretty laid back, but that doesn’t mean that i’m not competetive nor serious.

Hello,
not sure what is up with that but im trying this quest from the storyline for hours now, the krait priestess on the top of that “building” keeps permanently healing, there is no chance for me to give her the killing blow, not sure if its bugged or if i am doing something wrong? i checked the wiki, google, no advice on how to handle her (seems like a pretty easy enemy if nobody is complaining about her, but i simply cant finish her off)
