I’ve been playing since launch, and the daily was my lead-in to doing other things. Let’s say I needed Daily Gatherer, Daily Kills, Kill Variety, and Veteran Slayer (recycler would always come when I broke down my loot). I would figure in a secondary objective (I’m gonna do my dailies in Queensdale and kill SB while I’m there) and off I went. I would be playing for an hour or two even after completing my daily. And the only thing I ever wanted from the daily was laurels.
Since this new patch, my character hasn’t taken one step. I log in, get my reward, and log out. I have no incentive to bounce around the map to do the dailies, and since I’m not interested in doing dailies, I never have motivation to go anywhere and do anything (max level, have all the ascended items and skins I want).
That one laurel was my hook into the game, and now it’s gone.
Bravo Anet. Bravo.
Would be great if they made Prophesies FTP. Would breathe some life back into the game and move some expansions as well (especially EoTN).
I miss the dance parties in Spamadon. :-(
…between appearances?
Because rumor has it they’re a bunch of ninnies who gather in the tea room for bridge.
wait.. u mean if i have 2GB video card the game can only address 3.25-2=1.25GB of system RAM and windows use the rest of no matter how many?
I’m not sure how GW2 allocates VRAM vs System RAM, but both TOGETHER cannot exceed 4GB of allocation to the GW2 client.

The skinny is that it looks like we’ve allowed you to shoot yourselves in the foot with maxed out graphics settings combined with crazy boss zergs. The GW2 client is a 32bit process which has access to just 4gb of RAM, even less in practice due to fragmentation in high churn environments like a zerg fest. I can see from your log files that you are hitting an upper limit of about 3.5 gb of allocated memory before crashing on a failed allocation(i.e. running out of memory).
yea i know that.but it has nothing to do with why they disable it
Actually the devs were talking about FPS issues with the 32-bit limitation on the tech support forum just last week. I’ll see if I can find it, but I’m not going to do more than a rudimentary search.
i m running 64bit windows7 and 2gb video card ram .my pc ran at maximum setting b4 and no problem for that . i m sure it used to be there until todays patch
Your OS is 64-bit, but GW2.EXE is 32-bit. GW2 can only address up to 4GB of RAM total (3.25GB actually I think).
(edited by brokenrabbit.6538)
so is this a deliberate change or some kind of glitch?
It’s deliberate.
They fubared the framerate/load stutter with the 9/9 patch, and this is their ‘fix’.
i have been running all high/ultra for a year then today they disable my choice of best looking setting?this is really weird
Apparently they didn’t foresee the limitations of a 32-bit client (4GB of addressable memory max). Note that this includes both system RAM and Video RAM. So if you have a 1GB video card, you can only use 3GB of system RAM (for the game, the OS can still utilize the rest of your RAM).
Hey folks. It’s been quite a while since I last opened up my GW2 client, but I’m really thinking about getting back in. Just want to know some stuff about the state of the game first.
Run.
They fubared the framerate/load stutter with the 9/9 patch, and this is their ‘fix’.
The damage is already done, even if they revert it back. They artificially inflated gem prices the moment the patch released, and ripped the price graph out of the game UI and disabled the gem price function call on the API to hide it. That’s why if you go to GW2spidy the gem price graph hasn’t updated since the patch but everything else has.
Don’t even think for a second that this change was done to accommodate a certain type of player. Gem prices don’t naturally spike 22% in the span of ten minutes, not even on a patch day. That has never happened in the history of GW2, even on the anniversary.
I’ve defended this game since launch, but this…this is just too far. I’ve never seen gem prices spike anywhere near that much overnight. It just doesn’t happen. And that this happens just when the history graph disappears and the API stops working? It’s not fishy, it’s obvious.
I think it might be time to move on. There’s something sinister going on behind the curtain.
So it isn’t always a half-mile behind me. I will pay 300 gems for a leash.
you started playing and a timer kicked in, at 0 hrs the internet explodes
I should really make it a point to play more often, then. :p
It’s not important so I’m not dropping this in the tech support forum, I’m just curious.
How about instead of an in-game bonus the friend who gets referred get’s a discount on the game, like $5-10 off.
They run price promotions so that would conflict. Currently GW2 is 50% off the online store.
I’d be happy with a recruiter title for referring X number of people.
I did not want to offend you, but I am used that people make younger characters since everyone wants to be younger and prettier
Not worried about the rating, you just seem to be confused on the principles of aging. I’ll say this: I never had so much attention from ladies than after I hit my 30’s. :-D
;-)
Lol, if it was that a thief, I’d give it more. And if beard was shaved a bit better xD (it looks like a man in mid 30s or even 40s here, xD no offense)
I’m in may late 30’s, why would I would a fresh-faced toon? :-(
Graphical bug - RADEON R9 280X Graphics Card
in Account & Technical Support

I had a very similar problem years ago with PlanetSide and my old X800XL. I don’t have an R9 so I can’t test this suggestion myself, but try downloading RadeonPro and lowering the Flip Queue Size (default is 3 I think) and see if that helps.
Uninstall the Catalyst Control Center before installing, just DON’T remove the Catalyst display drivers.
Good luck.

3/10, sorry but is sounds like the prefix to an object, not a persons name. Dragonic Elemental Boots, for instance.
My Humans name is Sodijen (pronounced soda-jen). I used the old British method of not having a last name for royalty. No, he’s not royal, but his ancestor is none other than the famed and heroic Narcissisticus Moe (my GW1 main).
So his full title would be Sodijen, of the house of Moe.
Well the new update gave me literally what I’ve been looking for since launch, I think I’m finally done.
I was going to go with 8/10, but then I noticed that trout pout. pleasdonthitme! 7/10, I wish there was more color to either her face OR her hair. The paleness just makes me a bit uneasy.
As for my main, he recently got his eye put out by a skritt (cause he did the whole “your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries” bit), but that’s okay because I was going after the whole ‘grizzled veteran of the front’ look anyway. Besides, now he’s got that evil eye when he drops into a fighting stance.
Are there even enough people on Devona’s Rest to trigger a map overflow?
(I play on DR, just a little jab at the home team)
Nope. I can type my characters name in the box, hit the button (the two arrows next to the name box) and…nothing happens. The browser status bar doesn’t show that it’s even trying to connect.
Doesn’t work for me, either. The page loads but I can’t look up any of my characters. I noticed months ago that elements of the page were disappearing and the tables were broken. No idea what happened.
I don’t recall Gendarran having an Earth Elemental, perhaps you’re thinking about Harathi Hinterlands? There’s an Earth Elemental part of Modniir Ulgoth boss fight.
You could well be correct.
If you’re in Queensdale that looks exactly like the human tutorial boss minus the hands holding it up. I’ve not encountered this but I’m guessing it’s some sort of bizarre bug causing a distance imposter of it to appear outside the tutorial.
Yeah, it’s Queensdale. I could be mistaken but I swear I’ve seen it a time or two in Gendarran Fields as well.
What is this thing? I’ve seen it in a few places from time-to-time but it always disappears as I approach. None of my friends have ever seen it.
Meh. I savaged-leaped right off a cliff to my death once (target switch, I didn’t know). Was funny for everyone but me.
Ok, that’s a point, but I doubt they mean that seriously.
It’s rather obvious that there are day/nightcycles in GW2.
Yet, they are rather minimal, though.
There’s a lot of things that aren’t consistent in this game…the moon changes phases between maps, for instance. Hell, the sun NEVER sets in DR (look up at night and there it is).
The environmental lighting in this game is pre-baked, and adding a truly dynamic day/night cycle would take CPU/GPU time away from everything else.
Seriously, thats not what we want.
If you go out into the tyrian night, you can look as far as your graphiccard renders the map. In the real world, with real darkness, you wouldn’t be able to see even half as far as you can in GW2. Thats the problem the last 3 pages arguing about.
I understand what you’re saying, but as stated I’m specifically referring to those posters who said they either could not or could barely tell the difference between night and day. Ashabhi and Galtrix from the first page of this thread, for instance.
If you can’t tell the difference between night and day (as several posters in this thread have stated) then you have not properly calibrated your monitor. While night isn’t pitch-black in this game (and in fact you can see quite well), there should be no confusion as to if the sun is out or not as there is quite a bit of difference in brightness between the two.
You need to adjust both your monitor and video card levels, and you can use the following page to do so. I’ve linked to the Gamma correction page, but the other test options are at the top. Some of these you can ignore, but Contrast/Gamma/Black and White levels should be calibrated correctly.
I hate having the quest bar always open on the upper right corner of my screen, it’s not information I need to see every moment of the game.
Please make it slide off-screen until moused over, or unless actually in the event area. I’ve doctored up a screenshot below as to what I’m talking about. Each element can be moused over individually, and if desired locked into the visible position. Below we see three quests closed and the current event visible. Tell me this doesn’t look much better than what we have:
Have you tried adjusting the color scheme in your video card settings (CCC for AMD/ATI users, not sure of the nVidia equivalent)?
I have a color scheme for every single game I have installed (over 40) and I have no problem with GW2. Sure the nights aren’t pitch-black, but I can certainly tell when it is night unlike some posters have stated here.
Most people haven’t properly calibrated their monitors, either (most people have it set way too blue which kills contrast).
100% Random.
No such thing.
I’ve been playing off-and-on since release, with a few extended breaks, and I’ve noticed that when I come back from a long break I always get better loot.
The first time I noticed this I had stopped playing for about two months and then came back and joined the Queensdale champ train. On my first run (about an hour) I got both the Genesis and Lord Teasars Shadow. I played daily for about two months after that, mostly champ training, and never got anything else decent.
Then I took a multi-month break again and just recently returned. Again, I got on the Queendale champ train, and on my first run after coming back I get another Lord Teasars Shadow as well as Chorbins Chest which gave me my first ascended weapon. I’ve been on the champ train since then and have got nothing else of note.
I’m wondering if anyone else has noticed they get better loot after a long break, or if we can write this off to coincidence.
Came here just to suggest the same. I’m actually surprised this isn’t already in seeing as how they had just that in GW1 (the festival hat guy).
I have a strange problem with the grass and foliage in this game. As you can see in the pics below, there’s no foliage around my character and the crops on the farm in the background are there beyond a certain distance from my character, but the very nearest crops are gone.

When I approach them, even those disappear:

The strange thing is, is that it doesn’t always do this, though it does most of the time. If it is working right, changing maps will make sure it isn’t.
I have a Radeon HD3870 and am using the current 12.6 drivers on AMDs site. Windows XP 32-bit.
Any good reason why we can’t pit our mini-pets against each other? If it’s automated you could even do some betting on the side.
I think it’d be a great distraction from the norm.
A fighting ring in LA and the starter cities would be great.
Okay, so if I stay in a zone will the day fade to night? Or must I exit and re-enter for the change? I’ve never seen the sun move and I’ve watched.
Does the time of day only change when you zone? I’ve never seen it go from night to day except when zoning, where it occurs suddenly.
I’ve seen videos on YT of time lapses so I’m just wondering. Maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention what with all the DEs and all.
