It would be OP. I think they’re trying to make players balance where they get precision from. Full Ascended Knight’s would give like 3k attack, 3.5k armor, and 100% crit chance for a warrior… along with a 96% chance to heal 324 on crit… broken.
What use is the Increased Experienced gained by 20% ones if you have to be such a high level to get gear with infusion slots?

lol everytime we took garri in SBI I cringed at the lack of siege we had on 3rd floor. We had a mesmer hiding for the portal though.

Strongest class is the one you enjoy the most. They’re all required – pick something you’re good at and enjoy.
Weapons I’ve tried and had success with in WvW:
Hammer – good for defense (holding bridges, wall fights, stairs, and gates). Mighty blow hits HARD and often. The immobilize helps you secure kills. Banish is great for stopping stomps/rez, knocking off ledges, and just plain fun. Ring of Warding is great for area denial and trapping players (for a second at least…)
Greatsword – offense. It allows you to leap into a zerg, pull, and quickly deal massive damage. IMO Greatsword > Hammer for lifesteal builds since you hit more often.
Staff – defense/support. Again you can block gates, bridges, stairs, and walls with Line of Warding which is MAJOR in a battle.
Scepter – your best ranged option because it has an immobilize. Smite works wonders for lifesteal builds also. Don’t underestimate Scepter, easily a 1.4k auto-attack crit.
Shield – group support. Protection is nice to have for your team, but Shield of Absorption is where it’s at. Knock enemies off walls, block an enemy’s burst, heal allies, interrupt heals, and prevent stomps (this is major in a zerg fight!)
Focus – defense. Eh, mainly self-defense weapon. Allows you to stay in a fight a lot longer. Shield of Wrath is great against CnD thieves… they usually waste all their initiative on your shield, then you can impose your will on them.
The general combo I use is Greatsword + Scepter/Shield. For defense I use Hammer/Staff, but it depends on your build I suppose.
As fishergrip noted earlier, the GS leap will save you. It allows you to immediately place yourself in the fight. Rushing with a hammer doesn’t work most of the times… about half of your health is already gone by the time you start fighting. The same reason is why I always carry a ranged weapon – Guardians are tough, but you can’t stay in melee range forever. You need a way to retreat and recover while still assisting your team.
I thought I read somewhere that you should screenshot your team before running a dungeon in case something happened. Is that even relevant whether you had a screenshot or not?

The only time I see a D/D ele is when they’re lightning flashing away from me cause I just str8 ripped them.
Had to drop a black lion trader… bags got too full, twice!
If you have a skill that moves your character it will get you unstuck.
So… I switched from AH Crithammer to this build. The survivability is way better. Dmg is lower, but people crash and burn after they burn all their CDs on dodge rolls and shields X)
Can’t wait until I finish the exotics in set lol.
Btw what food do you use? Have you tried the HP regen foods? ~88/s ontop of Resolve is pretty decent. Or maybe the 40% endurance regen/100% might on dodge?

Back to the topic on hand…
If you’re not a T1 server with night coverage there’s no reason to full upgrade anything – ever. Reinforced walls/gates for towers/keeps are just to delay attackers giving you time to rush to the defense. Siege is better than most of the upgrades.
Double yaks is the only thing worth getting for camps.
The problem is by the time you actually upgrade a keep… you’re logging off. All those upgrades do is annoy the PvDoor crowd that wipes your map at night.
Basically….
Glass cannon/low hp – you will get 1-shot by thieves. There is no counter. Stick to the back field and hope your allies manage to kill the noob thief.
Tanky – you survive the initial burst. Thief goes into ultra noob CnD spam mode. If you aren’t in a group, you will die. There is no counter.
The only defense is if you have a skill to block the CnD. Only a select few classes have an actual BLOCK ability though (which is on a CD unlike CnD -.-) Dodging DOES NOT WORK. You have 2 dodges, 2 seconds of blocking CnD. Every stealth skill has > 5s stealth thanks to culling.
There is no counter play to thief stealth. It is a broken mechanic and needs a re-work.
Thief is the noobtube of this game. Sadly I doubt they will fix this class because, well… noobtube encourages noobs to play more -.-
Presents in SM is a well designed troll mechanism. Having orange swords in SM every 5 minutes because some noob keeps opening the present. Entire zerg rushes there to see derpson getting owned by 5 skritt. -.- -.- -.-
Yea the environment idea would be neat though. Maybe like the traps you can set in Gendarran Fields. Not sure about adding more NPCs though
WvW screen – there’s a hidden ducky.
Have 4 exotics sitting in my bank from fractals that I can’t do anything with. It is annoying.
I think the PvE’rs don’t understand the significance of restarts in the middle of prime time with no warning. Server restart destroys siege golems in WvW. I suspect each server loses 1-30g in golems every time they patch without a warning. From the entire server base… probably around 200g lost in total every server reset.
Granted that money was already gone from the economy… it’s really frustrating losing 15g to fix something that is already disabled.
Brought WvW down to fix PvE content. str8 boss ANet. Plz teach me to troll…
WvW end-game is all about numbers. Solo roaming is only good for: WP trolling, yak ganking, scouting, and getting points from sentry capping. If you’re roaming to fight players… you’re doing it wrong.
Join a WvW guild or community teamspeak and hop in the zerg.
Sadly most classes are useless until they’re geared at 80. All they do is rally enemies -.- The only exceptions are classes with certain utilities that are crucial WvW abilities… Portal, Time Warp, Feedback, Swirly Whirly, Wall of Reflection, Epidemic, Line of Warding + Ring of Warding, Meteor Shower, Mortar, Empower, Dagger Storm, Battle Standard, etc…

Join your community teamspeak or an active WvW guild and get into a group – preferably with a smart commander.
As for builds you could try the AH Crithammer build. It’s stickied on this forum. With full gear I’m at 3.4k armor and auto-attack crits for 1.7k. It also keeps about 6 stacks of might up on nearby allies when you’re in battle
Running the build as a front-line pusher.
It’s decent in 1v1, but really shines when you have team fights.
That was quite possibly the best explanation of WvW ever.

Made the mistake of running Tixx right after a Fractal – I got 3 socks. gg.
He’s standing in the glitch spot. It overlaps with spawn so it has the invuln buff. Nothing you can do about it lol..
Although annoying, it’s a valid tactic. Need to take a keep? Leave a group to spawn camp so no reinforcements can try to save the keep.
If you’re being spawn camped and out-manned there’s really no reason to be in that map anyway. Consolidate with the other maps. If all maps are spawn camped…no reason to play WvW (sadly.)
lol you can save them apparently. Logged into a BL… we owned 3 camps and 2 towers, but the NPC was still waiting for more people to go XD.
Rebuilding you say? Is that why I always hear it near the crafting stations?
It always screws you over in WvW if you’re melee. I always feel like a noob when I scatter a bunch of people -.-
One time I did knock someone off a cliff with the level up though…totally worth it.
I wore about 45% MF, and my drops went to zip.
I took it off, so i had not 1% of magic find and within the next hour got a corrupted lodestone and an exotic soloing a random world champ (non-event).
MF is bugged, i’d remove all of it if I were you.
Agreed. MF ruins your drops. Ironic.
2nd day of launch I got an abyss dye. Was only worth 1g then.

I’m assuming you switch sword/focus for scepter/focus in skirmishes tower offense/defense? How do you fight in skirmishes?
With AH crit-hammer I rush the enemy back-lines, how do you handle large battles with this build?
When do you use staff and what weapon do you replace with it?
Can you solo camps?
Magic Find is a scam/useless stat. Run whatever gear you need, then get MF from food. Most rares come from throwing greens in the forge.
Siege has always had a despawn timer. Just have to refresh the siege weapon every now and then.
LOL I crafted my char to 80 in DR so… that was always an awkward moment when that audio played. It’s nervou XD
