Honestly, I think stacking is a way to exploit flawed AI, not a tactic per se. I’d bet if you talked to the developers they would say that they had never intended stacking to be a tactic to beat these guys.
This actually made me laugh out loud. Yes, I’m sure the developers put all those short duration, small AOE skills and the entire freaking combo system in just so you would never use them.
Wasn’t talking about combos, was talking about stacking. Its not the same thing, not by a long shot. Glad you got a good laugh, but try addressing the actual subject and not some tangent.
Oh, sorry, forgot this is one of those threads where people who have no clue how the game works come to complain that it should change. You see, this game has skill combinations. Some skills are combo fields and some are combo finishers. If a combo finisher is executed inside a combo field an effect is granted to all players or enemies within in its radius. The radius of pretty much every skill in the game is very small, so you have to be close to your enemies and allies in order to take advantage of this system. One would even say you have to “stack” on each other to be inside these combo fields. So, I ask you, how does one take advantage of such a combo system without stacking? Since you seem to understand developer intent so well, why would the developers create such a system if they had no intention of players being close to each other and the enemy?
Honestly, I think stacking is a way to exploit flawed AI, not a tactic per se. I’d bet if you talked to the developers they would say that they had never intended stacking to be a tactic to beat these guys.

So, are you asking the players selling pre’s on the market now?
Kinda looks like you are from the responses.
By that rationale, anyone telling the OP to gamble away his/her money must be someone selling rares on the TP, right? I think your tin foil hat might be on a bit too tight
Only play with the forge if you’re willing to lose everything you throw into it. To quote the greatest action movie ever made, “Hope is a mistake”.
No. They are a pain to get in fractals. Reward tracks in PvP would devalue it. If it happens I want a way to earn Mini Llamas and Glourious Hero armor in pve.
I may have agreed with you before I got my FIFTH fractal mace. The current reward system is complete bullkitten. All I want is the sword, and with all the duplicates I’ve gotten I would’ve had all the skins a long time ago. I’ve run hundreds and hundreds of fractals, and the skins no longer hold any value to me. At this point I don’t care if you can buy them with gold because I earned the skins I want a long, long time ago.
Go back in time to the early days of GW2 where even guild groups had huge problems clearing dungeons.
We don’t have a time machine… Idk why people keep bringing this non-answer up…
It keeps getting brought up because of the word “harder” in the OP. The content we have now is actually hard as hell, it’s just 3 years old. Most people don’t remember what a nightmare pugging dungeons used to be before the current strategies were developed. Now, if you phrase the request as “I want more content about the same difficulty as current dungeons and FOTM” then you won’t see posts reminding you of how difficult the current content really is.
@OP, no this game is not “too easy compared to other MMOs”. Show me another MMO where years-old content is not facerolled by the players. If anything this game is much harder than other MMOs because parties in dungeons can still actually fail after all this time.
More to the point, you don’t actually want harder content. Harder content will only be completed by a tiny percentage of the population, and those that do complete it will do so in an afternoon and then come QQ on the forums about how they want more. Let’s see how long a game focused on bringing in the casual audience survives on that kind of content.
Personally I think the level of challenge in this game is perfect. Dungeons and FOTM seem really hard at first, but with skill and practice they become increasingly easier.
Couple of our buyers already got fractal tonic which cannot otherwise be bought on TP .
This is true! When I bought a path I got a Fractal Tonic, 2 precursors, and a Fractal Weapon Box! The more you pay for a path the higher your chances to get a precursor are. Fact.
The rest of what you said, well, you just made a list there of everything that is wrong with this game – healers not being needed due to each class having too much heal burst, full supportive classes not being useful due to warriors being able to both support and do damage, and so on and so forth.
Finishing a dungeon with 5 of the same builds should be impossible, especially with glasscannon builds.
Seriously, just go play WoW. You clearly don’t understand this game (zerker != build), and you clearly just want to play another WoW clone. So just go play WoW. You’ll be much happier
What reasons did I miss for zerker only being fine?
Short answer:
Stale content is the problem, not that we’ve figured out how to do it without passive defenses after doing the exact same fights for going-on 3 years.
That’s a terrible point actually.
WoW has existed for more than 10 years and it has always had tanks, healers and nukers in every dungeon, even the ones that are old.
LoL/DoTa, just to mention an example that isn’t a MMORPG, have been going for a long time as well, and it is unthinkable to have a full nuker party. Suggesting so would get you ridiculed.
The zerk meta exists because of poor gear balancing. If tanks were a lot tankier and had a taunt (while doing much less damage), and if monsters did much more damage, it would force team setups to have tanks and nukers.
Maybe you should post this on the WoW or LoL forums where it would actually be relevant.
You’re thinking about it all wrong. There aren’t really “ranged” builds or “melee” builds in end-game PvE. It’s more like there are situations where melee is appropriate and situations where ranged is appropriate. Most situations are melee appropriate, but you should be switching weapons/skills/traits pretty much constantly. Most of the fun is figuring out which “build” to use for a particular encounter depending on group composition and skill level. That’s not to say that you can’t stick to ranged, it’s just that your DPS will suffer and groups looking for a timely run may kick you. Hope that helps
Would you prefer that there be a bar somewhere that fills up a bit every time you do content X at the end of which you get some static reward?
Yes. That’s exactly what I want. ANet should implement that.
The real issue here is how mouseover on the price would make your numbers go into price, rather than into the quantity field YOU ACTUALLY CLICKED.
This is the most obnoxious UI choice ever. Couldn’t agree more.
And no I can pick and choose who I play with, as can OP as can you.
Of course you can. Just not through the LFG tool. And this is really the problem. You people want guild-quality interaction with other players but you want to do it with randoms. This is not reality. Let’s say you put “experienced” in your little LFG message. Since everyone has a different definition, you have no way of coordinating your expectations ahead of time. That’s what friends are for. If you’re not prepared to play with randoms, DON’T PUG. People complaining about this need to make some friends or live with the consequences of their anti-social behavior.
Most other LFG tools will randomly form the groups and penalize you for leaving the group before the dungeon is over. Would you prefer that system instead?
I can’t believe there are a bunch of replies here saying that OP was wrong, and or that they had what was coming to them.
What I can’t believe is why the OP, someone who clearly was not prepared to accept random people into the party, posted to the LFG in the first place. If you’re not willing to play with random people, why invite random people? Don’t like it? THEN DON’T PUG
Just because LFG is there, it doesn’t mean you have to accept playing with anyone. When did this become a thing?
It became a thing when LFG was invented? You have to accept them if you’re inviting them. That’s how inviting works. Don’t want to accept them? Then don’t invite them. This is really, really simple. If you’re not willing to play with them, then leave the party.
It’s really hard not to go dark before a big release like an expansion. Give the devs time, it’ll only make HoT that much more awesome.
I would urge you not to run fractals because you want one of the skins. You are only setting yourself up for disappointment. Every time you open up your bank and see half a tab of duplicate skins your character can’t even use, you’ll die a little inside. Now, if you want more ascended rings you’ve come to the right place!

‘cept it’s not skill based, because the ‘high skill/high risk’ option can be used by all skill levels.
Ha! Try sending 5 new players into a dungeon in full zerk and see how well they do. It is skill based, it’s just that everyone has spent the past 3 years honing said skills.
I’m confused. Why do these materials need to cost the same? I would understand if ascended equipment gave you some advantage over other players, but it doesn’t. The minuscule stat bonus means nothing in ZergVZerg, and you don’t use equipment in PvP. What exactly is the problem?
I actually feel for the most part 5 man dungeons or 5man fotm 50 done in the most optimal way requires very little player skill. Player skill is a bit subjective so I will define what I think is “skill” and what is not. First being able to speed run is not very skillful. Memorizing encounters and knowing what skills to use can be taught easily. I think coming up with the strategies to make these encounters trivial is skillful theory crafting but anyone who just copies the strategy are not skillful. Berserker gear/traits actually makes dungeon/fotm trivial. In most dungeons, the general strategy at the moment is run to boss, stack 25might, glyph of storm(25 vuln) and icebow 5/4/3 boss, rinse and repeat. The DPS output of a full berserker team is so high that a boss will usually not do anything before it dies.
Good luck on Mai Trinn.
By leaving dungeons one of the more profitable things in the game, Anet has skewed dungeon numbers to be higher than they would be.
And by not adding new dungeons, ANet has skewed dungeon numbers to be lower than they would be.
The devs came out and said that producing dungeon content was too costly. They never said anything about dungeon runners being a low percentage of the population. You have no idea why it’s too costly. Maybe they didn’t invest enough early on in tools for creating dungeons. Or maybe the devs who built those tools left the company and their code is unmaintainable without them. Or it could simply be that the resources spent on making dungeons would be better suited to making expansion content, new skins, or PvP tournaments that generate publicity. Or maybe those resources are better off making living story content, not because more people do open-world content, but because new content in any form gets people logging in and spending money. It could be that dungeon runners are a high percentage of the population but have poor monetization rates or low retention.
Basically, in the absence of data you’ve made an assumption. There are a number of other valid reasons as to why they stopped producing dungeon content, so stop being so dismissive of what others are saying.
You’re insane…in the best possible way.
Greeeeat.
So I’m being forced to buy gems to get a pair of pants. Forgive me for taking a hiatus, Anet :/
No one’s forcing you to do anything, for starters. You also get, you know, all the content that came along with those living story updates, not just the one skin. You can also convert gold to gems, which you should be able to earn in a couple of days playing all that FREE content in the giant FREE Silverwastes zone hosted on FREE servers by devs that don’t work for FREE.
There should be a party leader system with party moderation privilages for the leader.
kkthxbye
This makes no sense. And what if the troll in the party was the leader? This solves nothing and even makes the “problem” worse.
I’m confused. Why does making a leather armor set need to cost the same as making a light armor set? It’s not like you get an advantage over other players by having ascended armor. I mean, maybe in WvW, but the difference in tactics, skill, and player numbers will negate the 5% stat difference in pretty much every skirmish.
so funny so many replies involve distancing themselves from this negative situation , seems like the fear climate is real.
getting defensive and say things like " oh yeah i know my stuff, i don’t get kicked, i got brains etc" only shows what kind of community the dungeon runners have become.
the fear is real, thats why people get defensive straight away.
Going over this thread, I don’t see a single post that I would characterize as “getting defensive”. I mean, that you even feel people are getting defensive only strengthens the argument that you’re simply being neurotic.
From your post, it seems like you saw someone get kicked, got scared, and projected this insecurity on the rest of the dungeon community. That community, which is far more familiar with the overall climate than yourself, is simply responding that they don’t feel the same way, so some self reflection is probably in order. Remember, most of the people on this sub-forum have been running these same dungeons for years now. That initial anxiety of running a dungeon for the first time is long gone.
Here are some tips:
Don’t join groups with requirements. If the LFG listing has “zerk”, “exp”, “AP [n]k+”, or “no ranger/necro”, don’t join until you meet those requirements and are comfortable with the most common strategies for that path.
Speak up and ask questions. When you do join a group, make sure to let people know you’re new to the path or don’t remember it very well. People who play this game are generally exceptionally nice and helpful, more so than any other MMO I’ve ever played.
Watch up-to-date videos for the dungeon path you’re getting ready to run. It makes a world of difference when you know what’s coming.
Finally, relax and have fun. It’s a video game.
I PUG 10-15 different dungeon paths a day almost always with a different group for each path. I am in no way fearful, and I have a blast doing it. Perhaps your own neuroses are the source.
Elementalist. Incidentally, it’s also the most fun to play XD
Only the leader can kick people and it doesn’t require a vote kick.
This is such a terrible idea. You want to give more power to toxic players? You need to outline the problems you are trying to fix before offering solutions.
Exactly. So what are the problems you would want to fix about the party system we have now? That is a major part of the entire point of the thread!
There are two problems I see with the party system as it functions today. One is that griefers have too much power over kicking another player. The solution to having too much power is not to consolidate that power. Toxic players will gravitate towards that power far more than players who wouldn’t kick someone else to begin with. I think a better solution to this problem is increasing the number of votes it takes to kick someone so that it requires a majority of the party to vote “yes”. If someone is proposing that it takes a unanimous vote to kick the party leader, then it should take a unanimous vote to kick any other party member.
The second problem is that ANet doesn’t seem to be punishing those that join a party with the sole intention of kicking others in the group. This is really just a perceived problem because we have no visibility into how many complaints are registered or how they are handling the complaints. In any case, it seems incredibly difficult to identify who the griefers are in those situations, so I’m not sure there really is a problem or solution here.
I know you guys are against the gear thing so much, but there is content that actually requires gear: Fractals. If not gear, then you should atleast be able to see their AR or you shouldn’t be able to join FotM 50 groups without 70 AR (Maybe 65). I don’t actually care about seeing people’s gear otherwise.
Only the leader can kick people and it doesn’t require a vote kick.
This is such a terrible idea. You want to give more power to toxic players? You need to outline the problems you are trying to fix before offering solutions.
More or less the 3 main problems:
1. Having 2 people join your LFG at the end of a run and hijacking your instance (Big problem for dungeon sellers or people giving away free spots)
2. Grief vote kicking (e.g. kicking people after Jade Maw dies even though you’ve successfully carried them just to spite them)
3. Vote kicking at the end of a dungeon/boss fractal to get guildies in. (When in reality most of the people that are getting kicked are dragging the team down or being a jerk in one way or another. They’re also not inviting friends and relisting in LFG)Although, I don’t see why people are so against 1 person leaders. The burden of being a good leader falls on one person and I think the community is nice enough for it to not get it out hand (We have one of the nicer MMO community). We already have that issue right now anyways where you can kick anyone you want whenever you want if you bring a friend, and most people start groups with friends anyways. There are more people that wouldn’t abuse that then there are who would use it to their advantage and you just need one of those people to be the leader.
I’m against a Party Dictator system because it makes it easier to kick people, not harder. My Hobby Dungeon Explorer achievement count is now 500+ and I’ve been kicked maybe three times from a dungeon. I firmly believe that number will go up with a Party Dictator system. You say we already have the issue right now because they can bring a friend. A dictator system would remove the need for said friend, so the problem is worse.
In any case, a dictator system does not solve problems #2 and 3 you’ve outlined here. Having a dictator makes it worse because there’s no longer a vote. As for the first issue, I don’t think we should remove the democratization of the party system in service of path sellers. They are an exceedingly small portion of the player base engaging in a questionable activity.
The only change that ANet should make is increasing the number of votes it takes to kick a party member from 2 votes to >= 50% of the group. This alleviates much of problem, preserves the democratization of the party system, and doesn’t require a party dictator. I’m sorry if that eats into the path sellers profits, but you have the other 99.9% of the player base to worry about.
Only the leader can kick people and it doesn’t require a vote kick.
This is such a terrible idea. You want to give more power to toxic players? You need to outline the problems you are trying to fix before offering solutions.
I don’t post regularly on the forums, but this is becoming a growing problem.
I just spent 2 hours in a higher level fracs (29 is high for me), and everything was fine until we got to the last boss. As soon as we started fighting the Jade Maw.. I got kicked. And so did the other person in the party. Two people from the same guild kicked two of us at the end and filled it with their guildmates.
It really bothers me that I won’t know if anything will be done about this… or the fact that this can still go on and is still going on right now.
I hope this is legal to post the guild name… but do avoid “Esque In Finem” or (END). Their guild kicks other party members and invites their own guildmates.
Report them and move on. Problem solved. You’re welcome.
You lost me at “instance owner”
Sorry, too busy trying to find the secret code in your post with all the bizarre capitalization. I’ll crack it one day….
As for legendaries, Rangers also use greatswords, swords, axes, warhorns, daggers, and torches. If you’re only using ranged weapons, you’re not playing your profession properly. This game is not like other MMOs where there are ranged classes and melee classes. You’re expected to fill both roles when appropriate.
In any case, this game is more about setting goals for yourself, rather than having the game set goals for you. If you’re not having fun playing the game, then, yes, you should stop. The reward should be the journey, not the journey ending.
Some other goals:
- Full ascended armor/weapons/trinkets
* Dungeon Master title
* World Completion
* A unique look for your character (skins)
* Alts
* Collections
* AP
My Mickey Mouse and Sephiroth
That Mickey Mouse is pretty awesome. Nice work.
Exploration is nice and all but i personally don’t enjoy exploration.
Found your problem.
Are people seriously advocating for a party leader system? Literally the only change we’ll see is forum posts changing from “I got kicked because of 2 trolls in the party” to “I got kicked because of 1 troll in the party”. Congratulations, you just made the problem 2x worse! The only people a party leader system benefits are path sellers, which is not a group that deserves to be catered to. And don’t give me that “it works for other MMOs” garbage. GW2 is not other MMOs, and that’s the reason it’s so much better than all the rest. All they need to do is make it so it takes >= 50% of the group to vote “yes” on a kick for it to succeed. That’s it. Problem solved. No convoluted dungeon points system and no party leader trolls. ANet just implements a system they already sorta implemented.
slow clap
That was awesome.
sounds rough… you should get a free precursor for power leveling
I actually laughed out loud. Well done. I mean, what kind of complaint is this? “I power leveled my character and am unprepared to use it at max level! QQ!!!1!!”
So you want the Dungeoneer title, but you don’t want to actually earn it? What value does it hold at that point?
Stop selling paths. Stop being a kitten to your teammates. Problem solved.
If you’re getting kicked, the problem is not with the grouping system, and it is not with the dungeon community. The problem is entirely your fault, and you should either change whatever behavior you’re exhibiting to cause this or stop playing.
I would be more impressed if you weren’t glitching the game to achieve these results. Still pretty neat!
I think at this point the MS/IB wall-aiming to make it focus on a small area is pretty meta in most solo speedkills, or likewise the IB+Lighting Flash.
Anyway aslong as its accepted by the speedclear community theres no reason to not use it since it available to everyone.
I totally agree, and it’s still a hell of a performance fwiw
How is it glitching the game to dodge backwards and click on a wall?
It stands to reason that is not the intended behavior of Ice Storm or Meteor shower, though I suppose only the devs can confirm. Replace “glitch” with “exploiting a bug” if you like. I fail to see the difference between the two, however.
Oh, I get it! People put actual facts in front of you, and you simply choose to see what you want to see. No wonder these arguments never go anywhere. The people who are wrong just make kitten up!
August 10 – 1351g
Sept 10 – 1313g
Oct 10 – 1225g
Nov 10 – 1305g

I think there are some billy goats trying to cross your bridge.
You are ignoring the fact that 1351g>1339g.
Those prices are with a variation of 10% incredibly stable. In the same timeframe, ectos and t6 mats variated mostly around 20%, t5 mats over 40%
So, someone accuses you of cherry picking and lying, and your response is…cherry picking and lying? Brilliant! Thank you for only further validating my point.
I’m not ignoring anything. 1225g < 1305g <1339 g. Two of your 4 months of steady decline are steady increases. And I never said anything about T6 mats, so trying to redirect the conversation away from how wrong you are won’t get you anywhere.
Here, I don’t have the time to endlessly point your flaws. That would be a full time job. Instead of replying, simply replace what I would normally say with a random choice from https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/. I’m sure your argument will be full of whichever one you choose.
When I started on GW2 Legendaries cost something like 600g on the TP. That seemed astronomical to me at the time, but it was something I felt I could still work towards eventually and it was just a small segment of the market. Now that I actually could buy an item at that price, I can’t even buy most of the precursors because their prices have skyrocketed… and the number of other items that do cost around 600g has increased exponentially.
That does worry me a little from time to time.
Don’t worry because it’s not true. There was never a 600g legendary on the TP and so once that premise is eliminated your whole “omg inflation” story is pretty weak.
Hopefully they meant Precursors, which have suffered from a great deal of inflation.
Inflation does affect specific items. Precursor prices have been pretty stable.
What GW2 game have you been playing and how do I play that one?
Dusk

http://puu.sh/dqNbO/4fb1dc2f2e.pngTell me how those Dusk prices are stable. Tell me.
Both have actually steadily lost value since August, if you have a closer look. Just like most other precursors. Thats over four months of continous price decline and people still complain that precursors are getting more expensive.
Utter rubbish.
Oh, I get it! People put actual facts in front of you, and you simply choose to see what you want to see. No wonder these arguments never go anywhere. The people who are wrong just make kitten up!

How…how many times we gonna have this conversation? OP, please start some threads about the zerk meta, mounts, capes, and dueling please. We don’t talk about that stuff enough either.
It looks to me as though the only people complaining about the removal of instance ownership are path sellers and people who are disrespectful to other group members. Sounds like it’s working as intended.
